🏍Chapter Five🏍
"Sometimes, we all need a break."
Nilsa had been positively beaming after her double date with Alice and the pair of boys.
It was an odd feeling for Nilsa who had spent years keeping everyone far away, only letting Carlos and Hermes in (but even then, she kept them at a slight distance), even her so called "family" was kept miles away.
Maybe then they shouldn't have been such jerks to her before she ran away from them. Nilsa was never, ever going back to them. She had created her own life just fine.
Nilsa had just gotten into her pajamas and was chilling at her desk, looking over boring bills and incomes, when her phone rang.
Her eyebrows furrowed as she picked up her phone that had been laying facedown.
Nilsa's eyes widened in surprise, "Hermes? What’s wrong?”
Hermes sighed, “I just needed someone to talk to,” he said quietly.
Nilsa immediately brought open the GPS on her laptop, a few seconds later and she had the location of Hermes. A location that had her eyes widening.
“I know you’re in Nevada,” Nilsa said, leaning back in her chair to look out into the desert, “Come on over.”
“Thanks, Nilsa,” Hermes breathed out.
“Anytime.”

Nilsa had successfully made two cups of hot chocolate by the time Hermes had arrived at her clinic/home.
Hot chocolate had been their "thing" whenever one of them had been upset. Most of the time it was Nilsa preparing the hot chocolate for Hermes, but there were those occasional times that the roles were reversed.
"Nilsa? You here?"
"In the kitchen, Herm," Nilsa shouted back to the male.
The red haired woman turned around, placing the mugs of hot chocolate on the table just as her childhood friend entered the room.
Hermes's dark skin stood out stark against the mostly white kitchen, "Hot chocolate," he almost moaned at the mere smell of the wonderful drink.
Nilsa laughed as her friend only just managed to stumble into the seat across from her, and almost drowned himself in the drink, "Sooooooo, good," he murmured happily.
Nilsa snorted before sighing, "What happened this time?"
Hermes winced, moving the mug away from his mouth, averting his eyes to the table.
"Hermes-" Nilsa warned, her tone taking on a more threatening one.
"Okay, okay!" Hermes said hurriedly, "I'll tell you."
Nilsa looked smug for a split second, but she managed to conceal the emotion quickly, "Hera called me the day before yesterday saying that we were having a family dinner."
Nilsa pinched her nose, "Really?" She asked him, raising her eyebrows at him, "We both know why you should've just left them a long time ago."
Hermes sighed, "It's just…" he hesitated, avoiding looking at his friend, ".... I'm not like you."
Nilsa went silent. An amused grin stretching across her lips.
The chuckle from her a moment later made Hermes look up at the red haired woman with wide eyes.
"Of course you're not," Nilsa shook her head, a grin across her lips, "You care too much sometimes, even when they've put you down so many times."
Hermes let out a sheepish chuckle, and Nilsa knew she won this argument(if you could even call it that).
"So," Nilsa started, changing the subject to relieve her friend, "How's your good looking boyfriend?"
Hermes's cheeks immediately flamed red, something that greatly amused the red head, "We're not-"
"Don't lie to me, Mr. Steadfast," Nilsa cut in, a stern, yet amused, expression across her face, "I have my resources. And they all tell me the same thing."
Hermes groaned, "Riley and Finn."
Nilsa didn't say anything, but she knew that the twinkle in her eyes would give it away.
"Come on," Nilsa grinned, sounding way too excited for this, "Gimme the details."
Hermes sighed, accepting his fate that had been forced upon him, "His name's Ken Oláh and…"

Hermes and Nilsa ended up on the roof of the clinic around midnight. Much like the times they would do in college(before Hermes dropped out, and Nilsa got her degrees).
The night was quiet and peaceful, something about it made the two childhood friends relax.
Hermes let out a quiet sigh, his breath causing a cloud to drift from his mouth.
Nilsa chuckled from beside him, her eyes still caught in the beauty of the stars that never seemed to fade.
"You know," Hermes said suddenly, "Do you ever wonder if there are other species out in the universe? Just looking at their own sky, and we're just one of their stars?"
Nilsa hummed, shrugging her shoulders, her mind thinking away, "Probably, I mean, who knows. Humans haven't advanced that far in our technology yet to even see outside the Milky Way. Anything could be out there."
"Even human destroying robots?" Hermes asked, joking as he referenced the movie War Between Worlds that they had watched a couple years back.
"Who says that they have to destroy us?" Nilsa asked rhetorically, she was willing to give the "aliens" a bit of doubt in their "killing spree" of humans. After all, she wasn't exactly the cleanest herself, "Who knows? Maybe they could learn to like us, or even love us. If they managed to get over the rather idiotic things we do as humans."
Hermes sighed yet again, "I guess we'll never know," he said quietly.
"Nope," Nilsa popped, "Just one of the many secrets the universe holds."
Readers snickering as they know that Nilsa and Hermes both fell in love with "aliens", and finding it hilarious that these two are having this conversation.
"Yeah," Hermes agreed with her, "I guess it is."
Here's Chapter Five!
(Please note that this Chapter is connected to Speed of Love's Chapter Six)
Aw, Nilsa and Hermes bonding time.
I might have the pair encounter their "true loves" on an outing(lol, Arcee and Knockout will be so pissed that they know who each other are and can't do anything about it).
Hope you enjoyed!
