Chapter 9

Baekhyun got back to the house just before sunset.

He flew for a while before finding the perfect spot to vent out his frustrations.

How dare they treat his mate like dirt. Like scum who never deserved anything.

From the moment he had set his eyes on Chanyeol he knew he deserved the world.

The omega who had even earned the respect of Kai who hated wolves as passionately as Baekhyun.

Chanyeol was innocent and precious. Even his grandmother who had watched her own children ripped apart by wolves accepted his mate.

Baekhyun was going to find that Alpha and he was going to rip him apart for hurting his mate and his people.

Baekhyun easily shifted back to his human form by the front door.

Just when he was about to open the door he heard the pain filled howl of his mate.

As soon as Chanyeol ate what he could Chen dragged the omega to play.

Xuimin went along to make sure the ice dragon didn't overwhelm the pup.

At first Chanyeol was a bit scared and quiet but then soon he was laughing along with Chen.

Chen first gave him a tour of the house from top to bottom.

He would talk about everyone Chanyeol had met and was still yet to meet.

The castle was mainly only for the royal family but Baekhyun worked a little different from his parents and kept his most loyal friends and companions in the huge home.

Him and his grandmother were the only royals left and so if they followed old rules it would be a very lonely place.

"Oh my goodness. You are truly the most adorable boy I have ever seen" Chanyeol turned to see an elderly woman rush towards him and immediately shifted in fear before hiding under a cabinet close by.

He fit into the small opening and it took a while for them to convince him to get out.

Only Kyungsoo succeeded in the end since Chanyeol was warming up to him.

He was still afraid but as soon as the elderly woman held him her suddenly felt calm in her arms.

He relaxed as she brushed her fingers through his fur and soon fell asleep in her arms.

"He is absolutely precious isn't he" grandma Byun said as she turned to her friend.

"He is. The more I look at him the more I feel the urge to protect him. Maybe the fact that he is an omega isn't so bad" Sumni said as she pet the pup spreading a calming aura which made Chanyeol purr in comfort and satisfaction.

"Can I hold him?" Kai asked.

"No me first"  Chen cut in.

"You had him all morning" Kai argued.

"Yes I did but he was humanish then. Now he is an adorable little blue pup and I can carry him around"  Chen argued as well.

"He isn't an accessory to show off Chen. You will scare him again" Kai said. 

"That wasn't my fault. I feel so bad about that. I never want to see the little guy scared and hurt" Chen said with a frown.

"See what I mean. He already has everyone protecting him witjoit even trying" Sumni said causing grandma Byun to laugh in agreement and Chen and Kai continued to argue over who could carry him.

At that moment Chanyeol lifted his head before yawning and causing everyone to coo at him.

Kai finally won the argument as he carried Chanyeol to the kitchen for lunch.

He didn't shift or evwn want to and so he had his soup that was specially prepared for him in wolf form.

Chanyeol wasn't used to all the attention he was getting as they all wanted to carry and cuddle him but he left them be.

It was nice to be wanted and adored for once and so he dicided to embrace them.

When they were sure he wasn't going to throw up Lay carried him outside with a frowning Chen he still had not yet held the pup.

They gave him a tour of the area and nearby houses and ended up by the main nursery school for fledlings.

Lay felt tugging by his legs and looked down to see three small fledlings call for his attention.

It took a little while for him to see that they were actually calling for the pup.

Soon Chanyeol also wanted to be put down and was soon playing with the babies in hapiness.

"They are the fledglings who had been kidnapped. He protected them and they him. They must have formed a bond and he must be happy to see them safe and sound" Kai explained to help everyone understand what was happening.

The babies did not want to separate with Chanyeol and so Lay spoke to the woman in charge and told her to tell their mother where they took her babies.

They got back to the house just in time for dinner.

Chanyeol ate a bit before going to check on the fledglings who had fallen asleep on the couch while the others ate.

All they heard was a pain filled howl but before they could come to the aid of the little omega they heard a pain filled scream.

They found Chanyeol on the floor. His fur red and he was unconcious.

Baekhyun had his hand around a woman's throat blocking any air circulation before he roared on anger and threw the woman across the room leaving a dent in the wall.

He approached her with red anger filled eyes.

"Baek" Kyungsoo called his name causing the King to face him.

This brought Baekhyun back to his senses. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath before turning back to the woman with normal eyes.

"Yo...your highness. I'm sorry for any wrong I have done. I just came to get my babies when I saw that filthy..."

"SHUT UP" Baekhyun roared in anger.

"If you say any ill word about my mate i will rip you open. The only reason you're still alive is because i don't want these babies to grow up qithoit a mother. You know the penalty for harming the mate of another is death. You should be thanking him because your pups are alive because of him. Now LEAVE before I change my mind" Baekhyun said.

As soon as she left with her babies Baekhyun picked up his mate and silently took him to their room.

He was crazy worried but his grandmother told him not to worry because he did not have serious injuries.

Baekhyun shifted into a smaller version of his dragon that could fit in the room. He licked Chanyeols injuries and wrapped himself around the pup protectively before falling asleep.

"I'm sorry I wasn't there to protect you. I will never leave you again. No one will ever lay a finger on you"
