Revenge
I peeked outside the tent. Gale was still standing outside. I closed the tent flap hastily.
"We're going to need a plan," Landon said.
I shrugged. "Plan or no plan, I will torture Aileen. And Gale. And basically anyone I've spent time with over the past 5 years."
He whistled. "Wow, you are mad." I clenched my jaw in response.
Landon began, "OK, so I think we should--"
I couldn't contain myself anymore. I ran outside, and stabbed Gale in the back. He fell to the floor, coughing out blood.
"T-T-Thalia, how c-could you?" he said weakly.
I smiled. "I am not Thalia. My name is Raven Haveen, and I will get revenge!"
He shook his head. "You're not just going to let me die, are you? I was following the Queen's orders, you know."
I sighed, and took him into Landon's tent. Landon looked down at him in surprise.
"What did you do?" Landon accused.
I shrugged, and shoved Gale into Landon's outstretched hands.
"I know that you're a skilled healer. Fix him."
"Wha--?"
"Just do it!"
He turned and put Gale's body onto his bed, instantly turning the white bed to red. As Landon worked on Gale's dying body, Gale turned to me.
Gale gasped, "I'm sorry, Raven. I'm sorry. We did all of this because it wasn't fair. Our side of the world contained no animals, contained no happiness. We had gotten the worst deal, and so we took that rage out on the Rangers."
"Why did you let me kill my father?" I shrieked.
"I swear, I didn't know it was your father, otherwise I would have stopped it."
I nodded. Landon turned to me. "I've done what I can, but he will live. For now, at least."
I looked at Landon and all my barriers melted away. Every feeling that I had been holding inside of me, every stray thought, came out of me.
I sat down on the bed and started to cry. Landon sat next to me, and Gale sat on the opposite side. I sobbed and cried into Landon's shoulder, with Gale awkwardly patting my back.
At last, the tears were done. I wiped my face, and looked at both of them.
"I'm sorry," I mumbled.
"No, don't be. You had a lot on your mind already. Knowing that the past five years have been a lie just kind of...broke you," Landon told me tenderly.
I nodded, and bit my lip, feeling like a big baby.
I sighed, "Well, let's get going then."
Landon asked, confused, "Where?"
I smiled. "Down into the Land of No Return."
Landon got up, and backed away from me. "We are not going there. Nuh-uh. No way."
I turned to Gale. "You'll come with me, right?"
Gale looked down at his feet, and replied, "Well, I don't necessarily agree with you, but if you go down there, you'll see me right alongside you."
I looked back at Landon. "What about now?"
He shook his head, "You people are crazy. No."
"Are you afraid?"
"Obviously not."
"Scare-dy cat, scare-dy cat," I sang.
"Childish much?"
I didn't care. I continued to sing, until finally, Landon gave in.
"Fine, fine. I'll come with you."
I smiled, and we all left the tent. I went to the armory and took as many daggers as my pockets could fit. I came back to the tent, and was astonished as to how handsome Gale looked with just a change of armor.
Instead of his signature green armor, he now wore a deep maroon patterned in leaves, and a black cloak hung from his neck. He turned to me, and smiled, still weak.
Landon came back in shortly after, and he had taken pounds upon pounds of swords. He tossed one to me, and I caught it.
I replied, "I don't do swords. Daggers are more my style."
Landon sighed. "You were the best swordswoman in the land."
I shrugged. "Times change."
Landon nodded. "Indeed they do."
