Night Shifter -- The Shifter
~*****~
"It shed it's skin again," Dean breathed softly. "We don't know when. Could be in the halls, the vault."
"Great," Sam sighed. "You know, Dean, you are wanted by the police."
"Yeah," Dean chuckled.
"So, even if we do find this damn thing, how the hell are we gonna get out of here?" I seethe at him.
"One probably at a time," Dean huffed. "I'm gonna do a sweep of the whole place, see if I can find any stragglers. Once we get everyone together, we got to play a 'Find the Freak'. So here. I found another one of these for you." Dean handed over a silver blade to Sam. "Now, stay here. Make sure Ronald doesn't hurt anybody. Help him manage--"
"Help him manage?" Sam barked loudly. "Are you insane?"
Dean offered a wink and a thumbs up to Ronald before turning back to us. "Look, I know this isn't going the way we wanted--"
"Understatement!" I barked.
"Right, but if we invite the cops in right now, Ronald gets arrested, we get arrested, the shifter gets away. Probably never find it again, okay--" I gestured to Ronald in annoyance. "Ron!" Dean barked as he turned to him. "Out of the light!"
Dean chuckled nervously. "Seriously?"I seethe again.
"Ron's game play was a bad plan, it was a bit of crazy plan, but right now, crazy's the only grame in town, okay?" Dean mentioned. "Lottie, you're with me."
I nodded and followed after Dean.

"Still got that blade in your--" Dean stops speaking as I lift my shirt up to my bra and tug the blade free I had hidden in the cup. "Man, that's still hot." Dean commented as I gave him a glare.
We scoured the hallways, checking every office and room. "Dean," I mention softly as I gaze at the ceiling. "That one's moved."
Dean hummed and grabbed a coat rack to move it aside. After a few good tugs, the ceiling collapses. Dean tugs me out of the way as a body hits the ground with a heavy thud.
"Wasn't he-" I offer softly. Dean nodded and we ran to the vault. "Sam," I whisper, gesturing him over. He steps over to us. "The guy holding the guard-- we just found his body." I whisper as softly as I could.
Sam nodded and went back to the vault. "Ronald. He's right. We got to get this man outside." Sam breathed. "Come on, I got you." He grasped the security guard.
"Yeah, I'll help you." The shifter hums.
"Oh, I got him. It's cool." Sam retorted. "Thanks. Watch your step." Sam breathed to the guard. The man started thanking Sam breathlessly. "Lottie, get the doors," Sam hummed.
"You got it." I hum and lead the way to the door.
"Stop! Come back here!" I hear Ronald shout across the lobby. The shifter is running full speed through the lobby with Ronald chasing him.
"GET DOWN!" I screamed just before the bullet breaks through the window and kills Ronald.

Sam and I head over to Dean quickly, ducking down low to avoid anyone's sight. "Dean, you and Lottie take care of the guard"." Sam breathes. "I'm going after the shifter."
Dean breathed out a soft sigh. "Sorry, Ron. You did a real good job tracking this thing. You really did." He pulled Ron's rifle towards us and picked it up.
"Dean, come on," I whisper and tug at his sleeve. We hurry towards the guard. I led the guard towards the doors slowly. "Come on, you'll be safe soon." I breathe gently. "We're sorry for this, sir." Dean's behind us with the rifle. I open the door slowly, and the guard starts pleading for them not to shoot.
"Get on the ground!" An officer barks.
"No, no, no! Back up!" Dean shouts as he acts like we're both hostages. "Don't even think about it!"
"Please, don't shoot!" The guard pleads again.
"I said get back, now!" Dean shouted again. "Okay, go, go-" Dean gasps as he hurries the guard forward. Pressing the pistol to my head, he pulls me back inwards as I hold my hands up. I quickly lock the door in front of me. "We are so screwed." Dean breathed into my neck.
My phone starts ringing once we're out of sight. I flip it open and press speaker. "Yeah, Sam?" I hum.
"Slipped his skin," Sam explained softly.
"What?!" Dean and I barked.
"Yeah, bastard shifts so fast, at lot faster than the one in St. Louis." Sam explained.
"Oh, god, it's like play a shell game. It could be anyone again." Dean breathed.
"I think most of the employees are in the vault by now." Sam offered.
"You search every inch of this place." Dean ordered. "Lottie and I are gonna go round everybody up." I hang up the phone and follow after Dean as he tossed the pistol back to me.

Dean led the employees in the vault as I kept an eye out around here when the phone rings. With the vault closed, I pick the phone up and answer it. "Hello?" I breathe.
"This is Special Agent Victor Hendrickson," I hear a man echo through the phone.
"Yeah, listen, I'm not really in a negotiating mood," Dean mentions as he presses the speaker button.
"Good. Me neither." Hendrickson hums. "It's my job to bring you in-- Alive's a bonus, but not necessary."
"That's a little harsh for a federal agent, don't you think?" Dean chuckles.
"Well, you're not the typical suspect, are you Dean?" Hendrickson mentions. "I want you, Sam, and Carlotta out here, unarmed. Or we come in. And, yes, I know about Sam and Lottie-- The Charlie's Angels."
Dean chuckled. "Yeah, well, that part's true, but how'd you even know we were here?" Dean asks.
"Go screw yourself, that's how I knew." Hendrickson barked. "It's become my job to know about you, Dean. I've been looking for you for weeks now. I know about the murder in St. Louis, I know about the Houdini act you pulled in Baltimore. I know about the desecration, and the thefts, the kidnapping. I know about your dad."
"You don't know crap about my dad," Dean mentioned.
"Ex-Marine, raised his kids on the road, cheap motels, backwood cabins -- Real paramilitary survivalist type. I just can't get a handle on what type of wacko he was-- white supremacist, Timmy McVeigh, tomato, tomahto."
"You got no right talking about my dad like that." Dean hums in annoyance. "He was a hero."
"Heroes kidnap little girls?" Hendrickson chuckled. "Yeah, right. Sounds like it. You have one hour to make a decision, or we come through those doors full automatic."
Dean picked the phone up and slammed it back down. "Hey," I breathe softly as Dean started gripping his fists tightly. He turns his gaze on me and it softened just a bit. "I love you. I really do."
He chuckles and loops his arm around me to kiss me once more before we focus on the task at hand.

Sam finally came back. "Hey," Sam breathed.
"Hey! We got a bit of a problem outside." Dean mentioned.
Sam chuckled. "We got a problem in here." Sam mentioned. We opened the vault again and Dean spoke.
"Sheri. We're gonna let you go." Dean mentioned.
"What? Why me?" Sheri asks.
"As a show of good faith to the FEDS, come on." Dean explained.
"Uh, I think I'd rather stay here with the others." Sheri hummed.
"I'm afraid I'm gonna have to insist." Dean urged. She finally stepped out and I closed the vault again.
We lead her into the officer where Sam found her body. "I thought you were letting me out!" She gasps as her eyes land on the body and starts screaming.
"You always this dramatic are you actually this good?" I ask curiously as I block to the door.
"This is the last time that you'll become anyone." Sam hummed.
The girl screamed, then passed out. "What the--" I hum in confusion. The three of us look between her and her corpse. Dean shrugs and goes to stab her. "Dean, wait-"
"How is this an advantage to it's plan?" Sam asks. "Fainting wouldn't help it's survival."
The three of us exchange glances again before going over the corpse. Dean gazes down at it when a loud crash echoes through the building. The shifter grasps Dean's neck and the two start fighting. Sheri wakes up, screaming bloody murder. "Get her out of here, now!" Dean shouts.
The shifter kicks Dean in the side and I block it's exit. "Come on," I bark at it. Tackling me, I hit the wall, and she runs down the hall. I follow hot on her heels. She stops in at a dead end and turns to me with a deadly glare. With my knife in my grasp, I take a swipe at her. Bouncing out of the way, she tries to swipe at me. I block it with my right arm. Shoving her arm under mine, I pull her close, slam her against the wall. I feel a surge of power in my body as I snarl out in victory when my blade pushes into her heart. In that instant, her eyes burst with a bright light, and her eyes are melted out of her skull. I breathe out softly, and let her drop.
"Lottie," I hear Dean breathe. I turn around and gaze at him in worry. "That... was awesome!" Dean praises with a big grin. I snort and bow dramatically. A thud stops the flirting and we try to quietly remove the blade from her when a swat member steps into the room.....
With Sam securing SWAT uniforms for us, the three of us leave the building unnoticed. Once safely into the Impala, I pry off the helmet and the mask with a deep sigh. "We are so screwed," Dean breathed.
We all remained silent during the ride out of town.
