There was an eerie echo... and then silence.

Buzzwole still stood, except weaker; it didn't seem damaged though!

"WHAT!" Ash shouted in amazement. He had no idea what the move did.

Luckily, the nanodex was unlike a normal pokedex. It was a portable pc; a pokemon registration device for the pokedex entry, a pokemon move searcher and a pokemon stat searcher!

When Gary selflessly lended Ash his nanodex, Ash had sighned out of Gary's pokemon storage and item storage account and replaced it with his own. Then he also went to the pokemon center and created a special password that no one, not even officer Jenny, knew that guarded his account from being used by other trainers. This made the nanodex the only way to access his account and take pokemon out in.

Ash had no idea what the move's name was, but the nanodex had a very special ability: to detect the pokemon that the move had hit's hp and how its stats had changed to identify the move. All Ash had to do was the scan the scene. Ash pressed the button: scan?

Then, he pressed yes and held his nanodex watch's lazor beam that shot out at buzzwole, Xurkitree and the surroundings.

The nanodex suddenly started flashing and the screen said searching...

Eventually, it stopped, and Ash was able to get the move that hit buzzwole and its effect.

Eerie impulse,

Sharply decreases the targets sp attack by 2 stages.

Then there was a bunch of technical stuff.

Ash figured out that Xurkitree knew that it had now got the upper hand.

Indeed, it had! When the two ultra-beasts clashed again with a few moves, Xurkitree was able to quickly over power Buzzwole!

Ash gritted his teeth. He wasn't going to lose, so easily!

"Go, Charizard, aid Buzzwole!"

Ash commanded. He figured the Buzzwole needed help!

It wasn't much help as Charizard quickly got knocked out by a combination of rain dance and thunder along with eerie impulse!

"DAMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM" Ash groaned.

"How is it so powerful"

"Its drawing power from necrozma's light source" Buzzwole's voice replied.

"Wait, necrozma's light source? Does it mean if I destroy it, then the ultra-beasts will be weakened and Necrozma will be defeated? Also, is the reason Xurkitree knowing so many moves due to Necrozma's light source?" Ash asked.

"Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, no. Everything is yes except the question you asked about weather Necrozma will die if you destroy its light source." Buzzwole replied.

"Wait, why aren't you are necrozma's side, and why are you helping me once I captured you?" Ash asked.

"I will tell you later..." Buzzwole replied as it managed to zap Xurkitree with horn leech to recover some hp.

Ash decided to let out Genesect.

"Genesect, aid Buzzwole!" Ash commanded.

Genesect immediately helped Buzzwole block a ferocious thunder. The rain was now starting to fade. Ash knew that the rain was Xurkitree's main advantage and know, that it is fading, we will stand a chance of win! Just as Ash finished thinking that, the rain stopped!

Now, thunder had way less accuracy.

"Buzzwole, leech life, Genesect bug buzz" Ash commanded.

Buzzwole, however, used bug buzz with Genesect instead.

The duo attacks hit Xurkitree like thick, acid rain, hit damp plants and dissolving the plants. It caused some serious damage; however, the ultra-beast didn't seem to mind at all.

Then, it suddenly ascended into the sky. It laughed cruelly with a sense of lost yet victory.

In its hand was a Z crystal, Ash gasped. Many years ago, he remembered that once, when professor Oak and Delia hadn't betrayed him, professor Oak's cousin came from Alola to visit and he read Ash and told him a story. It was about a great pokemon war, one which happened centuries ago. In fact, it is considered the pokemon counterpart of the war the separated Kanto and Jhonto as separate regions! That was when pokemon known as ultra-beasts battled, some on a pokemon called necrozma's side to get some called a Z crystal and help it restore its full power. Z crystals reflect light, which powers necrozma. No wonder the words such as ultra-beasts and Alola and Necrozma seemed so familiar!

Ash was shocked that he had only realised this until now!

Xurkitree had now started fleeing with the Z crystal.

"Stop, stop"

Ash tried to jump to cling onto the ultra-beast. It obviously didn't work.

Buzzwole managed to fly and hit it with dynamic punch, but it didn't do much damage. Maybe its sp attack was too low.

"NOOOOOOO, WE WILL NEVER CATCH IT AGAIN" Ash wailed in despair.
