Prelude to war
Prelude to war
"Mach punch"
After several unsuccessful attacks, Ash finally managed to land a successful hit.
"Well done!" Shouted Ash, encouraging Infernape.
The strange creature seemed to move slightly backwards a bit, but otherwise kept coming.
"Now drain punch"
Infernape's fists starting glowing white and it bent on its knees, before it kept out, hitting the opposing ultra beast whilst healing itself. Before Ash could celebrate, however, the mysterious pokemon suddenly tensed a bit before letting out a series of purple smoke, that drifted through the fresh air, polluting it.
The smoke surrounded Infernape and a Ash noticed that the purple smoke had started circling it in a threatening way, forming shapes...
Wait, the shapes were slowly growing... one finger... and then 4 more sprouted our like lone dying weeds in the end of autumn, getting weaker and weaker by every second yet its shape was getting clearer and clearer, until it was as clear as pure gas and couldn't go any clearer. It was a hand.
"InFERNAPEEEEEEE" Infernape's scream broke through the ominous mists that crowded Ash's mind.
Then Ash noticed that it was getting weaker and weaker every second that the swirling smoke was covering it.
"Wring out, a move that has its power determined by the hp value of the pokemon it is affecting. The most damage it could deal is 120. An counterpart for the move crush claw, the formula in its damage is calculated is:
120 x current hp / Max hp
It is similar to water sprout and eruption, except based of targets hp rather than the hp value of the user."
The nanodex's metallic speaker chanted.
"Great, "muttered Ash, "Now this thing is speaking when it shouldn't say things, did I not turn it off?"
Without much thought, Ash could tell that Infernape was inflicted with at least 100 damage, it was hardly damaged yet and drain punch nearly recovered all the hp it required to reach 85% of its health. This meant that Infernape was at a low/moderate hp.
After that, Ash didn't dare to order Infernape to use drain punch or else it might try wring out again.
Ash sighed.
"Flare blitz"
Infernape surrounded itself with burning aura and charged like a bull at the mysterious pokemon. Unfortunately, it didn't seem very affective on the creature, it still managed to burn it though. As expected, Infernape winced a bit after the attack, having to deal with the damage from recoil.
To everybody's horror, a dark blue aura surrounded the strange creature and it was instantly healed to full hp and from its burn.
"What!" Ash Shouted in surprise and dismay.
Then there was a sickening crack and BOOM and there was smoke. The creature was gone.
Ash took a deep breathe, half of him was wondering why the creature had suddenly disappeared, it was going to win! Another part of him felt happy that he was able to avoid more battle and was able to heal Infernape with a hyper potion.
In the distance, there was a small flash of light. Then it disappeared. Then it reappeared again. Then it disappeared and didn't reappear.
Ash was starting to get tired and hungry.
His stomachs felt as if it hadn't ate for a month when it had only been a few hours.
"Go Charizard," he said, knowing that it was the only pokemon he could rely on to carry him out of the jungle without getting lost as it could fly. He knew many others could fly as well but Charizard was the fastest and Ash had a feeling that something wasn't right, in the city.
A few minutes later, they were airborne, with pikachu on Ash's shoulder and Greninja by his side.
Then a feeling came to Ash, dismay... afraid... none of them suited his feeling. The horrible sensation came to him. They were... LOST. It was as simple as that. Why? There was a purple circling surrounding the nearby island that he could see and a particularly large one surrounding... the whole Alola region!
Everywhere seemed the same. There were distant lights in the other island, but otherwise, all was lost. Ash was a new comer. The first time... it was the first time since he had came to Alola. He was unfamiliar with... the landscape, the people... nearly everything. Why was there a purple circle? He didn't know. All he knew was that Charizard was telling him that the circles surrounding each island were airborne borders so Charizard couldn't fly past them without getting knocked back several meters.
What was unusual was that all the islands were dark, gloomy and scary, as if there was a power cut on each island. The wind had started blowing once more, it was cold and dark. The sky had turned dark and clashes of lighting flashed in the distance.
Ash willed himself to carry on his journey, but he found out he couldn't for there was another border forming, closing in on the island he was just on.
Ash noticed that the waters outside the borders were normal, blue and wonderful, in fact the sun could still be seen! Inside, however dark clouds covered the sky and lightning strike the hearts out of people and Pokemon alike. Finally, after a particularly close call where a bolt of lightning had nearly struck them, Ash decided that they couldn't stay in air for any longer and went down, only to discover that the forest he had saw was now nothing but a dull perimeter of dirt, with scorch marks everywhere. Ash's heart sank. The trees had burnt down from the fire caused by the lightning. There was no caves, no shelter. It had started raining now, every drop seemed to carry tons of sadness and despair, adding onto Ash's broken heart and weighing him down.
Maybe it was the bad weather that was effecting him, but hot tears, made cold by his sorrow and the chills from the icy wind, flung down his face. He didn't know why.
Chills ran down his spine, Pikachu watched him in pity whilst Greninja offered to build a shelter of a few leftover stones and rocks.
Enlightened slightly by his pals kindness, Ash stopped crying but started sniffing.
Then they landed on the ground, Charizard rapidly trying to keep its tail lit from the bad weather and rain by burning it with his hot breath. Ash wanted to return all his pals apart from pikachu, who would never accept being kept in a tiny confined space, however all his Pokemon wanted to stay out and help.
Greninja, frightened at being struck by lightning, started digging a hole underground because he thought that it would save them time and not get effected by the thunder and lighting as ground was immune to electricity and lightning and thunder were basically like electric type attacks. Below ground would obviously be safe as well.
For the next 30 minutes, Greninja loosened stones with surf and pikachu knocked the loose stones apart with iron tail. Charizard kept on keeping its tail warm and alit.
Ash also helped with the digging as well. He helped pikachu remove loosed stone with a nearby branch, that was long but thin and light.
After an hour or two, they finally got a area big enough for Ash to fit in, however, he kindly left the space for Greninja and Charizard because Greninja would be seriously hurt if struck by lightning because it was a water type and Charizard's tail was nearly out of fire (it couldn't live without its tail alit). He had a feeling that they still wanted to help out and expand the space that their trainer was going to shelter in until the danger had passed.
They both relayed the acts of kindness by continue helping Ash to dig until there was space for Pikachu and him as well.
After that, they sealed the ceiling with a few sticks and branches that hadn't still been burnt. He decided to block the hole with them, despite knowing that they may cause fire if hit by lightning and thunder, it was still the best they could do.
Ash collapsed the moment they got a room big enough for all four pokemon and trainers and he had returned them to his poke balls. He was overwhelmed in tiredness, he had suffered so much, lost so much, yet to come to this end...
Without him noticing, the world was ending. There was nothing else to replace it, this would be the final end. His dreams were dark, at some points light.
Tick tock.
Every second ticked by, every second was precious.
Tick tock.
Every second, every moment, fire burned, thunder boomed, the winds took no mercy either. Trees were pulled up from their firm roots and spun in mid air before falling down once more. Yet these things were not what was most important now.
Tick tock.
Every second, thousands died, thousands were hurt, thousands were missing.
Thousands were crying, thousands were screaming. Then the world fell, not down, nor up... up into a deep sleep.
Finally, the end has came. Hope seemed to be dim, our hero-Ash was in sleep like the rest of the world. Everything was icy and bitter. The end has came.
End~
No, not yet.
Hope lay within the bare hands of a battle that lay not far away.
The world was empty. The citizens of Alola was no where to be seen. Perhaps they had scattered like bugs into the midst of nowhere, or had been burnt to dust by a surprise hit of lightning 1000 times stronger than the usual ones. The remaining were held under the spell of silence, unmoving, uncaring, keeping silent as each second ticked by.
Tick tock, tick tock .
Four ominous figures floated not far away, radiating a sense of fear and doom. Their bodies were shrouded in dark aura, darker than any material ever to be found in the universe, signalling they were under the influence of Necrozma. Their eyes were those of devils, red with hatred and yet cold, containing no spark, not even those as small and fine as a grain of wheat, of emotion at all. The world around them seemed to suddenly lay even more still than ever as if in fear.
Directly facing them, stood four other figures, easier to identify as four pokemon, were eloped with a leafy green glow, an electrical buzzing spark, a fizzling, watery gush and a mount of psychic energy. They glowed brightly, lighting the air around them and filling those who were next to them with a peaceful and happy feeling, that could never exist in the heat of war.
Even in his deep sleep, Ash felt their influence, slowly a smile appeared on his face as if he had been bought to somewhere far away from war. The cold air no longer seemed to torture him, he could breathe much easily now and he relaxed his muscles to feel the comforts of the cold rough ground which now seemed to be soft like a lamb's warm, smoothing fur.
He drifted further, into happier thoughts as if entering a brand new door.
The sky seems to slowly turn light, the purple barriers remained strong, but alas, the world still was in deep sleep.
CRASH BANG BOOM! Attacks crashed and bashed. None seemed to weaken, none seemed to tire. One moment, there was the screeching sound of horns and claws colliding, next there was a boom. Both sides were quick, and skilled. This remained that only the buildings down below were the ones that took the full impact of the attacks, whilst the unlucky citizens inside were still asleep, even if they were burnt by fire or smashed by a huge piece of concrete from the debris falling from above. The sun was now setting, yet it seemed to be rising because the dark clouds were clearing and, alone with that, the dark aura around the four mysterious figures started fading, revealing four other pokemon.
Then the figures fled as if they could only survive if the darkness in the middle of day.
Before they could get far, the spell broke and suddenly, the world was filled with noises and everyone woke up, now screaming to discover that their legs were burnt of or they were stuck under a massive statue that had collapsed.
Ash, like the rest of the world, woke up. The, however was quick enough to see the 8 pokemon, 4 running and four...
Ash felt his stomach jerk.
"No, it can't be" he whispered "tapu kok!" He had seen statues of it in the temple he visited yesterday. He was quite sure that the others were tapu bulu, tapu fini, and tapu lele, as professor Kukui had mentioned before. He quickly snapped a picture of the eight pokemon with his nano dex so he could perhaps ask professor Kukui and others when he got a chance to ask what was going on. Suddenly, he ducked down, hoping that he hadn't been seen as if worried that he would be in trouble if seen.
It was too late. Tapu koko, hearing Ash's voice despite it only being a whisper, looked down. Ash gulped. Luckily, the tapu's eyes were reassuring as if saying there was nothing to fear.
"Tapuuuuuuu........." Ash said, unsure of what he could say. In truth he was worried that he was going to make a fool of himself or say something queasy.
"TaPUUUUUU" it said as it closed its shell like a turtle. Ash had nearly thought that it was going to attack.
The other three tapus, hearing Ash's voice, looked at him for a split second that lasted in Ash's imaginary time, 10000 seconds. Then they looked back. Just in time for Ash to see that tapu koko had opened its shell once more and was holding out a diamond shaped object that was sparkling with electricity.
"Whattttttt, what do you want me to do" Asked Ash innocently.
Tapu koko looked at Ash, and then the the strange object. It stared deeply in Ash's eyes, this time more sternly but still as kind.
An understanding suddenly passed between Ash and the tapu.
"So you want me to take it?" Asked Ash nervously.
The tapu nodded before revealing another curious item, this time in a shape of a band with just the same shape of the diamond object on one side.
Then it took the diamond shaped object and gently pushed it into the gap on one side of the band.
Instantly, sparks of electricity sprouted out of the surface of the diamond object and it glistens with energy.
Ash looked at the objects gifted to him in wonder.
"What does it do? Do you... do you put it on your hand like the ones I saw on other trainers in this region?" He asked, now slightly more confident about speaking to tapu koko.
