A New Boy, Secret, and Power

I apologize greatly for updating for such a long time! I really am! I've been writer's blocked with this story and I also have school! I'm so glad the end of the school year is coming! Just a couple of more weeks. Anyways, I apologize in advance if this chapter seems a little short. Enjoy!

(Joel's POV)

I had no idea what I was thinking when I told Nexus yes. Somehow I had that gut feeling that I was trying intentionally to betray Drakus. Drakus... my mate... my lover... the father of my children!

How could I have said yes?

I still haven't told him. It's been a week and I have yet to tell Drakus about me agreeing to have Nevus' baby after ours was born.

I feel stupid... and disgusted.

I'm betraying Drakus, my mate, by doing this. I was going to carry someone else's child. Maybe I could persuade Nevus to change his mind? No. That would be impossible. He looked so happy when I said yes. It would break my heart to see him so upset if I went back on a promise.

I don't like going back on promises.

But damn... What am I going to do?

(Drakus' POV)

It's been a week since my mate had came back after a disappearance. He told us how some werewolf managed to kidnap him and Nevus saved him.

I somewhat believed it because they both came back with werewolf stench on them.

That and my mate's emotions were going wild. He seem to be debating about something. When our bond reconnected, I immediately felt distress from him. Could it be that our babies was hurt? Did he get hurt?

Did Nevus do something on their way back?

I hope not because I would wring his fucking neck.

***

I found Joel in our room, laying in our bed with a book in his hands. He was now calmer than he have been for the past couple of days. Maybe I could talk to him.

I walked up to his side and sat right next to him. Without a word, he closed the book and looked up at me with his lavender eyes. "You want to talk to me, don't you?" I nodded. "I do."

Joel sighed and cuddled up into my lap. "I know what you're thinking. Drakus, I'm fine. The twins are fine. Nothing happened between Nevus and I. He saved me and that is it." "You're not lying to me, are you?" Joel snapped his gaze to me. "No. I'm not. Drakus, listen to me." He turned to face me, straddling me with his hands on my shoulders. "I'm serious. Nothing happened. Trust me okay?"

I nodded, not having anything to say.

Truthfully, I feel bad for not doubting him. "I do. I do trust you. I just felt... threaten that Nevus was there to save you if a werewolf did attack while I was in pain."

Joel chuckled softly and kissed my jawline. "Drakus, don't feel that way. I'm in love and mated to you. We're having twins! I love only you!"

I pressed my lips to his for a second. Boring my eyes into his, I placed my hands on the sides of his soft rounded face. "I know. I love you, too."

Before we could kiss again, we both heard a loud scream.

"GUYS! GET DOWN HERE!"

Joel's eyes flashed for a brief moment to gold before going back to lavender. "Something's wrong.", he mumbled. Jumping out my lap, he rushed out the room. I followed him.

"Joel, wait!"

He had stopped just at the bottom of the stairs. The others were crowded around the doorway. I spotted Evian coming in with a body in his arms.

The first thing I noticed was the single gash. The second was that the body was that of a young boy. He looked to be 16. He was in black pants and a grey tee. He had black hair just like Joel and his skin was tanned like a light cocoa.

His eyes were closed and he looked to be breathing. Evian walked past Joel up to the clinic where I knew Revina would already be.

"I wonder..." I turned to see Joel was standing stiff, his eyes glazed over with a bluish purple now. And that gaze was glued onto Evian with the boy in his arms. He looked to be in some trance. I stepped closer to him, pressing my hand to his neck. "Joel?" He didn't say anything. Instead, he slowly begun up the stairs, following Evian.

I was confused.

What the hell had Joel like that?

I followed after him, not trying to be too quick because Joel was moving like a snail. But it seem it took seconds for him to reach the clinic. He walked in, still not saying a word.

Okay, I love Joel. But now he's just being creepy.

Evian had settled the boy on the bed. He looked up at us. "Drakus! Joel! Why are you in here?"

"Ask him that!", I exclaimed, pointing at my mate like a child. Revina gasped, staring at Joel who stopped by the boy's bedside. He went to touch the boy. Evian reached out to stop him, but Revina stopped him. "Evian! Let him touch the boy."

"Why?", I questioned. Revina didn't say anything. We watched as Joel's eyes began to glow a bright bluish purple. His fingers ghosted over the boy's cut on his side. Joel then began to speak... but in a language I didn't know.

The boy began to twitch a little, suddenly relaxing.

Okay... now I'm freaked a little.

"Revina, what is going on?"

Evian blinked. "Don't tell me he's a-"

"Yes. Joel is an Ancient."

"A what?"

Revina looked up at me. "Your mate is an Ancient. They're a line of vampires that hold secrets from the past, present and future."

I blinked. I know I was looking at her as if she grew two heads. "Revina, can't anyone do that?" "Only if they're bonded. Other than that... no. Joel can look at the ancient past of anyone, a civilization, even an object. Either by touch or just on instinct. He's having an episode."

I listened as my bonded continued speaking in the strange language. He suddenly stopped, backing away with his eyes still opened.

"Protect the boy.", he said, an echo through his voice. I shivered. It sounded so creepy.

"Protect him.", he said once again. His eyes blinked back to their natural state. Joel looked around and stopped at us. "W-what the hell just happened?!"

"Joel, calm down."

Joel rushed in my arms and began breathing hard. "Drakus, something isn't right!"

"Joel, please.", Evian said softly. Joel looked at him. "Evian?" "Joel, you had a vision. It's normal for vampires like you." "What is that supposed to--"

He stopped.

He looked over at the window with his eyes glowing a bright blue again. "Go outside."

I looked down at him. He looked back at the boy and then back at the window.

"Go outside and stop that beast."

There was a sudden shriek outside. "WEREWOLF!!"

Evian leaped towards the window and jumped out. We could hear sudden growls and breaking of trees. I pulled Joel closer. "Revina?" "Joel had a vision of a werewolf coming into our lands. What I expect is that it's after this boy."

"Revina?"

Said vampiress and I looked over to the door and saw Nevus come in. "Blaze sent me to-- What the hell is going on with Joel's eyes?"

"Don't mind that. What did Blaze want?"

Nevus stepped more into the room, looking creeped out by Joel's eyes. "Um... Blaze sent me to see how the boy is doing. Evian and him are taking care of the mutt that seem to be after him."

That's when Nevus' gaze looked down at the boy and stayed.

"Beautiful...", he mumbled. He stepped closer until he was on the bed, sitting next to the sleeping boy. His fingers lightly went through the ebony locks, his lips forming into a smile. The boy began to moan softly, his eyes fluttering open to reveal bright red eyes. He looked up at Nevus with confusion.

"Where am I?"

"Safe.", was all that Nevus answered. Revina had placed a hand on the boy's shoulder. "Tell us your name."

"My name... my name is Rene."

Despite the girly name, Nevus didn't seem to care. He just smiled even more.

"Rene. It's beautiful."

The boy seem to not care either. He turned slightly to Nevus, his eyes wide. "What's yours?"

"It's Nevus." Rene was now looking directly into Nevus' eyes. "Nevus...", he repeated.

Could this day getting any weirder?
