She didn't even know
How many eyes that day
Were drenched with
Unshed tears,
She didn't even know what
She had left behind,
In her fury to gain
What she thought was
Far ahead.

That day when she walked on,
Taking the boat by it's keel,
We were the ones
Who were stranded alone,
Catching behind her feet,
Traces of which the sea,
The ever treacherous sea,
Washed up with its tides.

She didn't even know,
Which one of us,
Knew of it first,
Who heard before the other,
And who cursed her first.

We who shared so many dreams,
So many lives promised together,
Were all but shattered,
Left on the shore,
Bidding adieu,
As tears dropped on the sand only
For the second next to see nothing
But blurred pictures of an existence
Far ahead of us.

She wouldn't know,
couldn't know of this
For we were the only ones left
Wishing upon her footprints
On the sand,
To catch a glimpse of her again,
As nothing but cold arms,
And shoulders drenched with,
Another's tears,
Were left to console.

We didn't get to see her at the end,
We didn't even catch a glimpse of her
Fading back,
We couldn't even hear her last laughter,
Nor her last try for life,
Nor her last cry,
We couldn't catch it,
Before we were too late,
Too late to bid her goodbye.

They say the first thing
After a goodbye,
You forget,
Is the voice,
But why, oh why,
It's the very voice,
That carried the words of
Another beginning
That gave us strength,
That gave us hope,
That told us,
There would be a light,
In the farthest corner,
In the coldest depth,
In the deepest trench,
In the centre of our hearts.

I hope though,

Even if she didn't catch us,
Wishing her farewell,
She knows,
Nothing more than happiness,
Her happiness,
We sought.

We prayed and we will pray,
Until the day we meet again,
Of her delight, of her love, of her happiness, of her joy, of her safety, of everything we couldn't before.
