After they arrived at the compound, Bruce immediately left Rocket, Thor, and Ophelia in order to help set up for a trial run. Ophelia smiled at Rocket and completely ignored her brother before leaving in order to find Steve. She glanced down at the ring on her hand occasionally before entering a room and finding Rhodey and Steve.
"Hello, boys," she greeted.
"Hey, got Thor?" Rhodey questioned.
"More or less," she answered. Upon seeing his confusion, she said, "You'll see."
Steve stood up from his seat, walked over to her, and placed his hand on the small of her back. "You all right?"
She nodded. "I'm fine, Steven. Bruce explained the gist of things on the way here. How confident are you that this will work?"
"Confident now that Tony's on board. It has to work."
"I know," she reassured. "Are you all right?"
"I have to be," he answered.
"I suppose that answers my question," she remarked.
"Sorry, sweetheart."
"It's okay."
"Hey, Princess, other humans," called Rocket as he lingered by the doorway. "Test run's ready."
Ophelia chuckled, slipping out of Steve's hold to approach Rocket. "I thought we had a conversation about calling humans, humans?"
"They're humans," he reminded, making a face.
"Fair enough," she said.
"I take offense to that," said Rhodey.
The group walked to the garage where the quantum portal was, meeting up with the others. Everyone carefully watched Clint who was standing by the machine, wearing the Avengers suit.
"All right, Clint. We're going in three - two - one."
The portal opened, sending Clint down into the quantum realm. Everyone waited silently, hearts racing.
A few seconds passed before Bruce pressed a button on the control center that brought Clint back to the present time. He screamed due to the sudden motion, knees buckling onto the platform, and breathing heavily to catch his breath. Natasha ran forward and placed her hands on his face comfortingly. Everyone followed close behind, eyeing Clint.
"Hey, hey. Look at me," Natasha comforted, helping him up. "You okay?"
"Yeah," Clint answered, showing her the baseball glove. "It worked."
He threw the glove to Tony, who smiled proudly.
Ophelia turned to Steve and smiled, placing a hand on his chest in comfort. "It worked."
He opened his mouth to respond, but Tony cut him off with: "Course it did, Cupid. Come on, walk with me. I need someone to talk to. Everyone here bores me."
Ophelia sighed, retracting her hand from Steve's chest and turning to Tony. "I'm not Cupid. My abilities aren't like that, Anthony."
"Ugh, Anthony. Disgusting. Are your legs dead? Walk with me," he repeated.
She shook her head, but followed after him, sending a look to Steve over her shoulder. He smiled at her and shrugged at her dismay.
