The news has spread
(Aizawa's POV)
Immediately after I saw Y/N being carried away, the other metal person was smashing me into the ground.
Shinso was attempting to help me with his scarf. "No! Shinso, help Y/N!" I called out to him.
The metal person heard me say this and jumped off of me to attack Shinso. So I used my scarf to restrain them. I turned my head but Y/N was no where to be found.
Then the metal person broke free from my grasp and started running away.
But how? Was I distracted?
I turned to Shinso, "We need to find Y/N."
Shinso nodded, and then we ran in the direction the metal people had fled towards.
[Timeskip 2 hours]
We'd been searching for a while so we called for rescue squads to assist us.
As I was walking outside of a building that I had checked, one of the squad members yelled over to me, "Eraser! We found her!"
I rushed over to where the members were, and they were lifting an unconscious Y/N onto a stretcher.
"We aren't 100% sure what happened, but we suspect she could have fainted due to blood loss." One of the members pointed at Y/N's arm which was bleeding.
I walked closer to Y/N, "It looks like a puncture wound." I said, studying her arm.
"Do you think it was illegal drugs?"
"Maybe.." I turned to the rescue member, "Get her to the hospital, then ask them to take some tests to see what's going on."
"Yes sir," The member turned around and started helping some of the others load Y/N into the ambulance.
Another rescue member showed up behind me, "U-um exuse me sir, I mean.. Eraser Head," He said scratching the back of his head nervously, as I turned around. "We were just wondering if you.. I mean, as Y/N's teacher we figured it might be best if you were the one seated next to Y/N on the way to the hospital."
When I didn't respond right away, the member got all embarrassed. "W-well, it was just a suggestion! We can totally have someone else do it instead, no problem at all!" He said quickly.
"Yes, I will sit by her. However, I have another intern." I said, motioning towards Shinso to come towards me.
"Haha! No problem!" The rescue member quickly responded. "You both can sit back there, there's tons of room."
"Very well then," I helped myself into the ambulance after the rescue members were finished loading Y/N in. Then, Shinso followed.
The ambulance doors were shut, then we waited until driver was ready to go.
Along the ride, Y/N started talking. It didn't seem as though she was conscious yet, but these were actual words and not muffled noises.
"No, I'm sorry, stop." She said.
Shinso looked at me, "Is that normal?"
"I don't know," I responded to him. I've heard people talk in their sleep, but not unconscious. This was very peculiar.
"No, Anika, Kirishima, I'm sorry, I can't." She spoke again.
"Isn't Kirishima one of the students in your class?" Shinso asked me.
I nodded.
"But he wasn't here, why is she talking about him?"
I didn't know how to answer that question. As far as I know, Y/N would barely talk to anyone in the class besides Ashido and Hagakure.
"I don't know," I said.
Throughout the rest of the ride to the hospital, Y/N would periodically mention the names Anika and Kirishima. When we reached the hospital, I assisted the driver and some of the rescue members unload Y/N from the ambulance. Then, she was taken inside for further inspection on her wounds.
[Timeskip 24 hours]
(Y/N's POV)
I woke up in a hospital bed. My body ached when I tried to move, and I noticed bandages on my arm.
That's when the memories flashed back into my brain. What did they do to me?
A doctor walked into the room, "Hello Y/N. You have some visitors."
Mr. Aizawa and Shinso came through the doorway. "How are you feeling?" Mr. Aizawa asked.
"Um, fine I guess."
Mr. Aizawa turned towards the doctor, who nodded. Then, Mr. Aizawa came to my bedside. "I know there's no easy way to say this, but after running through some procedures we've found signs that your quirk has been taken from you."
Those words made my stomach drop. If my quirk was gone, that would explain why it didn't work before. That means... that needle...
"The thugs dressed in metal extracted your quirk. With that being said, it would be very challenging for you to continue in the hero course." Mr. Aizawa told me, "We figured it would be a good idea to tell you before telling the class, I'm sorry, but you will not be able to return to UA."
I felt my entire body go limp as tears started to stream down my face. I can't be done, not yet. My dreams were falling to my feet.
"Never..?" I asked, quietly.
"I'm afraid not." He said, "We haven't told the whole class yet about this. You can just tell us when you're ready for the news to spread. We know this is difficult to go through."
"W-wait, the whole class..? You told people already?" My voice trembled.
"Yes, besides me, Shinso, and the doctors of course, we have told one other person."
I was expecting him to say my parents, but since he mentioned the class, I knew it wasn't.
"We also told Kirishima." Mr. Aizawa said, "We noticed you were unconsciously talking about him, so we figured you wouldn't mind."
Unconsciously talking about him? Oh no, that's so embarrassing! I hope I didn't say too much...
Then the doctor spoke, "He told us that he'd come right away if you'd like to see him."
It's been so long since I've seen him, and I wanted to. But what would I say? I'm horrible at this sort of thing.
Everyone in the room was quiet, as if they where waiting for my response. The only noise came from the ticking of the clock that was next to the window.
"Yes.. I-I do want to see him.." I said looking down at my bandaged arm.
"Alright, we'll call him right away." With that, the doctor left the room.
"I'm sorry I couldn't get there in time." Shinso spoke, "I should've followed you."
"Oh uh, no! It's fine. It wasn't your fault. I'll be okay.." Deep down, I knew that I wouldn't be fine. I've always hated my quirk. But now, looking back on my life, I realize how fortunate I was to even have a quirk at all. But it was gone. I couldn't get it back.
"Don't work yourself up too much, Shinso." Mr. Aizawa said to him. "Go head out to the waiting rooms, I'll join you."
"Yes sir," Shinso exited the room.
Mr. Aizawa was about to leave too, when he stopped at the doorway. Without turning around he spoke to me, "You've been through a lot. Don't put too much pressure on yourself."
Then he left.
I was left alone in the room. Just to think about everything that had happened. It's hard to imagine that just a couple days ago I had a quirk that I could use freely, at my will. And I was a part of UA. The most well known hero course in the world.
I felt my eyes fill with tears. At least Toru would get to become a hero. She's always wanted to be hero for as long as I had.
Just then Kirishima came running through the doorway, he had a worried expression on his face. I was surprised he got here that quick.
When he saw me crying he came to my bedside and wrapped his arms around me.
"I'm so sorry, I heard what happened." He said, not letting go of me.
As much as I was sad to have lost my quirk, I felt a sense of warmth and comfort from Kirishima. I lifted my arms and embraced his body, burying my face in his shoulder.
There was a long silence, as we held onto eachother.
"Mr. Aizawa said I was the only one who knows," Kirishima said, "is.. there a reason for that? Why me?"
My grip tightened. I understand how it would seem strange that Toru didn't find out first, considering she's my best friend. Or my parents.
Mr. Aizawa said I was subconsciously talking about Kirishima. Which is probably the reason he's the only one they told.
How would I explain that to him? It would sound crazy if I told him I was talking about him while I was unconscious. And I don't have the guts to tell him I'm in love with him. What do I do?
"You don't have to tell me if it makes you uncomfortable."
"N-no, it's just that.. I.." I took in a deep breath, "Ever since.. I came to UA, I've been inspired by you.. Even though I never really got to see you in action. Just.. something about you.. I.. um.."
I was too afraid to show my face, too afraid to see his reaction. But he came all the way here... for me. Now was the time to tell him.
"Kirishima.. I-I know this might be.. uh.. straightforward, but I'm.. I mean..."
Come on! This is your one chance Y/N! Don't screw this up!
I grit my teeth, clenched my eyes shut, and buryed my face further into his shoulder before saying, "I love you."
There it was, I said it. There was no going back.
I felt his fingers combing through my hair, and his head rested on mine. I kept my eyes closed as I felt his touch. There was nothing in the world that felt better than that.
"Ha, that wasn't very manly of me. I should've had the guts to confess my love first, sorry Y/N." Kirishima told me.
I felt my heart skip a beat. Was he saying what I thought he was saying?
I was internally screaming. This can't be happening it's too good to be true. But I know it was real, the moment he said, "I love you too."
