Chapter 1: How You Met

Midoriya Izuku

"Today will be your first day of actually helping out, are you excited?" your grandmother asked you.

"Yes! I mean, I hope no one gets hurt, but I hope that I can help," you told her while bouncing up and down with excitement.

"I can see, well we can watch from the main room for now," your grandmother instructed.

You nodded your head and sat down to watch on the TVs. Everything was so exciting to you, you really did wish you could join them in trying to get into UA, but with a Quirk like yours you were better off on the side lines, helping the injured. Sure, your grandmother was a hero, but times had changed and you now needed an offensive quirk to pass the exam to join the Hero Course. You looked up to her and one day wanted to save as many lives as she had as Recovery Girl.

"That poor kid hasn't racked up any points," you heard your grandmother say.

"Who?" you asked her.

"The one with green hair," she responded.

You followed her gaze and saw one kid who looked around frantically. You noticed that he hadn't even used his quirk, or at least for the time that you watched him. Then you saw a giant robot.

"That's the 0 points enemy," your grandmother informed you.

Your eyes were wide open as you looked at everyone running away from it. Then you noticed the green haired guy was running toward it. Confused you got up to take a closer look and found that there was a girl stuck under the debris.

"She's stuck!" you exclaimed, but before your grandmother could respond you were in the testing area.

You were right in front of the girl.

"Can you move?" you asked.

She shook her head in pain but managed to touch the steel beam, making it float off of her leg. You looked behind you and found the guy jumping up into the air. You helped her walk as far away from the robot as you could until her leg was better.

"Wow," she whispered in astonishment.

You looked in the direction she was facing and saw the robot being blown away in one hit. Then the guy who punched it was falling down.

"Quickly, what's your Quirk?" you asked her.

"I can manipulate gravity to make things weightless and float," she responded.

"Can you do it on people?" you asked.

"Yes, but it's difficult on my own body and if I do it too much I get nauseous," she replied.

"Alright, we have little time, you need to make him and me weightless. Once we get close to the ground you need to make yourself weightless," you quickly told her.

Without waiting for her to respond you were both in the air. She quickly grabbed both you and the boy, making you lighter. You touched her face and kissed the boy on the cheek. You continued to fall rapidly, but you knew that it would be easier for her to make you both weightless before herself. Before you touched the ground she made herself weightless, making you lose momentum. She let go, making the three of you fall down. You got up and were met by your grandmother's gaze.

"You interfered with the testing," your grandma scolded you.

"It's Recovery Girl," you heard the boy whisper.

"I'm sorry, I don't know what came over me," you apologized and bowed. "I hope this doesn't affect their test."

"Well, they seem to be okay," your grandma praised and smiled at you. "But we'll have to talk with the rest of the staff to see."

"Tha...Thanks for saving us," the boy quickly bowed to you. "I'm Mi- Midoriya Izuku."

"And I'm Uraraka Ochako," the girl replied and bowed to you.

"'I'm Shuzenji (F/N)," you bowed back.

"The test is over, and I didn't manage to get any points," the boy mumbled.

"I'm sorry about kissing you it's just..."
you didn't know how to explain it without giving away too many details.

His face turned red and he touched his cheek.
You were thankful when the Pro Heroes announced that everyone would get their results via letter but if any complications may arise they might have to retest.

"I hope to see you joining UA this semester," you told them both.

You bowed again and left with your grandmother as everyone else headed toward the exit.

Todoroki Shoto

"Concentrate," your instructor told you.

"I am," you responded slightly annoyed. "We've been doing this for a month now."

"We just need to make sure you can suppress it. Then, you'll be out of here," he reminded you.

You breathed in and out, then took off the air mask. You could slowly feel the void around you being fill with air. You breathed in and the air surrounded you.

"Can I come out now?" you asked him.

This had been your one wish for years. Leaving this room meant leaving all the bad memories behind. And that was exactly what you planned on doing.

He smiled proudly and nodded. You stepped out and came face to face with your parents and a Pro Hero named Endeavor. Your parents held you tightly and whispered how proud they were of you.

"I think she should attend U.A," Endeavor declared. "When she's old enough."

"She's 15," your dad replied.

"Really? She looks younger," Endeavor commented.

"What's U.A?" you asked Endeavor.

"It's a high school for up and coming Heroes, the best in all of Japan," he explained.

"So, I get to interact with other people my age while also training to become a Pro?" you asked him.

"Yes," he replied.

"Please, Mom and Dad, can I?" you begged.

"That is extremely dangerous," your mother reminded you.

"She has been training for years to finally come out of there," you instructor reasoned.

"She has great potential, besides, my own son, Shoto, will be attending there once he passes the recommendation tests," Endeavor helped.

"I've been locked away my entire life, I haven't interacted with kids my age in all of my 15 years of life, please. I promise to not try that quirk whatsoever if it'll make you feel better," you pleaded.

"You really want to become a hero, don't you?" your father asked with a smile.

You nodded with determination.

"You've never attended a normal school though, how could we get you in?" your father questioned.

"You can leave that to me, we can get her to take the test with my son. With quirks like her's, I'm sure she'll pass the test with ease," Endeavor explained.

"Would you really do that? Wow, thanks Todoroki, she might not have ever had this chance without your kindness," your father thanked Endeavor.

"Come on, call me Eiji. Besides, I'm sure she and Shoto will become very close friends," he replied and smiled.

Unbeknownst to you, that smile held a more sinister undertone.

"I'm finally here!" you gasped in amazement.

UA was so much bigger than you had imagined. You waited at the entry gate for Endeavor's son, Shoto. You had never met him before, but Endeavor seemed pretty set on getting you two to be friends. You thought it was really nice of him, wanting his son and his friend's daughter to meet.

"Are you (L/N)?" you heard a monotonous voice ask.

You turned around and came face to face with a boy your age who had red and white colored hair.

"Yes, that's me, but you can call me (Y/N)," you replied, "You must be Todoroki Shoto."

He nodded his head.

"I'm going to be direct with you, I don't want to make friends. I just need to pass this test, so, as long as you're not in my way, I don't care what you do," he replied.

He held such anger and hatred in his eyes, that you couldn't help but feel the need to help him. He walked past you, making you pick up the pace to catch up.

"So, what's your Quirk?" you asked trying to break the ice.

"I can freeze things with my right hand and create fire with my left," he replied.

"Hey, that's almost like mine! My quirk—," you tried to tell him.

He stopped walking so you did too.

"Why are you so set on talking to me?" he asked.

"I know that you want to focus on becoming a hero, but I really do want us to be friends," you replied.

He seemed slightly taken aback, but he continued walking without another word.

"Wow!" you heard someone exclaim from behind you.

Not wanting to get left behind, you looked back but kept walking. A guy probably your age was happily staring at the UA building. He noticed you and Shoto and quickly came over.

"Hey, are you two here to take the entrance exam as well?" he asked.

"Yes, actually," you replied just as enthusiastically.

"You're in the way," Shoto remarked and walked around him.

"I'm sorry, he doesn't seem to be a people person," you apologized.

"You mean you don't know him?" he asked.

You shook your head no.

"Not really, but I'm hoping I will," you replied.

You waved to the guy before running after Shoto. For the practical exam part, you had gone before Shoto, finishing before the rest of your group, but only 1 minute faster than a normal year.

Now that Shoto and the other guy were up, you managed to get permission from Present Mic to wait by the finish line. Shoto seemed like he would win, but the other guy managed to muster some more force at the last second.

"Congratulations you two!" you cheered.

"Yeah, that was fun! Better luck next time. You're Endeavor's kid, right?" he quickly asked.

"I wasn't competing against you. I just needed to pass the test," Shoto declared and walked away.

"Maybe you shouldn't mention his dad," you told him and bowed. "I can only imagine how it must feel to have live up to a hero so grand."

"I'm Yoarashi Inasa!" he quickly told you.

"I'm (L/N), (F/N), nice to meet you. Now if you'll excuse me," you gave him a small smile before running after Todoroki.

Todoroki noticed, but didn't care enough to tell you to leave him alone. Eventually you two had to split up, you bid him goodbye but he only glanced at you as you left.

Bakugo Katsuki

"Everyone, please welcome the new student, Kayama-Yamada (F/N)," your new teacher introduced you.

Introductions, your least favorite part of starting school. And toward the end of the year no less. If it were up to you, you would just stay home-schooled until the year ended.

"Hello everyone," you greeted.

"Why don't you tell us what your Quirk is?" the teacher suggested.

"What's the point? It's not like it'll be better than mine," a boy with spiky blond hair interrupted.

"Bakugo, stop or else you'll be spending detention with me," the teacher warned him.
The kid, Bakugo, tsked.

"Actually, my quirk is Soporific Voice, I can make—" you explained.

"Boring!" Bakugo said.

"Settle down, a quirk is very important in determining someone's future," the teacher told him. "Which reminds me, you are all third years and should start thinking about your future. But who am I kidding you're all going into the hero course, right?"

Everyone agreed and showed off their quirks. You scanned the area noticing that most had obviously weak quirks.

"Ha! As if any of these rejects would actually make it out of a fight with their useless quirks," Bakugo smirked.

Most of your classmates shouted in protest except one. You all turned toward a green haired guy who was writing in a journal and mumbling.

"You quirkless nerd! Shut up for once!" Bakugou shouted at him.

"I'm—I'm sorry Kacchan!" he quickly apologized.

"Enough! So, where do you plan to attend next year?" the teacher asked and turned to you.

"Well I'd like to go to UA to become a Pro-Hero, but if that doesn't work I'll become a pediatrician," you replied.

"Better start studying, because there's no way you'll get into UA without a quirk like mine," Bakugo proclaimed.

"Being a hero, is not about how powerful your quirk is. It's about your drive to help those in need," you retorted.

"I'm going to be the only one from this school who gets into UA," Bakugo replied confidently.

"Doesn't Midoriya want to attend UA too?" the teacher asked and turned to the green haired guy.

"Uumm, yeah, I do," he replied nervously.

Bakugo glared at him, making Midoriya look down. Before anything else could happen the teacher told you to take a seat right next to Midoriya.

"Forget about what him, anyone can be a hero as long as they know what it's really about," you told Midoriya and glared at Bakugo.

He glared back before turning away. The rest of the day was alright, aside for Bakugo's constant bullying. Not that it bothered you since all he said was that you were weak which you obviously knew was wrong. You were already leaving the school when you realized that you had forgotten your radio underneath your desk. You raced back, but stopped at the door. You pressed your ear against it and listened to what seemed like a voice from inside the room.

"... take a nose dive off the roof of the building!" you heard Bakugou tell Midoriya.

Now that just made your blood boil.

"How dare you?!" you asked and slammed the doors open.

"This is none of your business!" Bakugo retorted.

"You say you want to be a hero, a person who risks their life for everyone else's, yet here you are, bullying and asking someone to end their own!" you yelled.

"What's it to you?" he asked.

"What would a hero say if they heard you?" you demanded as you stomped over to him.

You blew some air into his face making him fall over.

"If the rest of you don't want to end up like him you better get going," you told them.

They nodded and quickly fled. Tch, cowards.
Great, now you had put saliva on him or wait 7 hours. The second option was tempting, but you weren't that cruel.

"There will always be people who try to put you down," you told Midoriya. "Ignore them, I believe in you."

He had tears in his eyes as he nodded furiously. You patted his shoulder before sending him off. You waited until he was out of school to wake Bakugo up.

"Hey! What's this wet stuff in my ear?" Bakugo bellowed as soon as he woke up.

"A true hero doesn't let their own emotions dictate what kind of person they are," you told Bakugou before leaving.

Fumikage Tokoyami

"Thanks, I really needed this," you told your friend.

The sun would be setting soon so there was plenty of shade from all of the trees.

"Any time. I'm always down for ice cream and a walk in the park," she replied.

You were chatting and eating your ice cream like normal when your friend suddenly pulled you over behind a tree.

"(Y/N), he looks weird," your friend whispered.

"Who?" you asked.

"The guy who's just sitting in the shade," she replied.

"I think he's cute," you told her.

"But he looks so... dark," she retorted.

"How can you say that?" you asked her appalled. "Is dark bad?"

"No! I've just never seen someone with a bird's head," she replied defensively.

"Your brother has bat wings! Stop talking about other people," you huffed.

"We can hear you," you heard someone say.

You both turned around and saw a shadow beside you. You jumped a bit in surprise while your friend screamed and ran away.

"Aaannnddd she left me. Hmm. Oh well, I'm (F/N), but you can call me Shadow, how about you?" you asked him with an outstretched hand.

"Really? I'm Dark Shadow, the coolest person you'll ever meet," the shadow-like figure replied proudly.

"Really? I think I could give you a run for your money," your shadow replied.

She came out of the ground an exact replica of you, except she was a shadow.

"Fumikage! Look!" Dark Shadow exclaimed excitedly.

He flew over to the boy you and your friend had been watching. He seemed to be unimpressed, but you could see a hint of surprise in his eyes.

"I'm (F/N)," you greeted him.

"I heard. You and your friend were very loud when you talked," he replied.

"Yeah," you replied and smiled awkwardly.

"So, umm, what's your Quirk?" you asked politely.

"I can summon Dark Shadow from inside me for offense and defense, yours?" he asked.

"Well," you said and motioned to your shadow who gave him a peace sign.

"Hmm, kind of like mine," he asked.

"Want to walk with me?" You asked politely.

You both started walking around the park's trail together while you talked about different things. Dark Shadow and your own shadow were talking behind you both.

"I don't go to school— I mean, I'm home schooled," you replied and scolded yourself internally before trying to divert his attention by asking, "You?"

"I'm planning on attending U.A High School," he replied.

"Really? That's where the greatest heroes go! I hope that if I'm ever in trouble you'll rescue me," you complimented him.

"Thank you. Anyways, it's getting dark, so I should go," he commented.

You looked around and realized that he was right.

"Right, sorry for wasting your time," you replied.

"Don't worry, it was nice," he told you," But maybe next time, you should try to be quieter when spying on someone."

"Oh, right! I'm sorry about her comments, and about talking about you," you apologized sheepishly.

"It's okay, and thanks for the compliment," he said before leaving.

Dark Shadow signalled a goodbye before retracting to Fumikage.

"Compliment?" You mumbled confused.

"I think he's cute." Right! You told your friend that!

"Well, no use hiding it," your shadow replied and patted your back.

You sighed and made your way home, hoping your older brother wouldn't be too mad about you being late.

Iida Tenya

"Mom? Dad? Where are you?" you called them as you walked around your small home.

"(S/N)? (B/N)?" you called once again.

You lived in a rather small house, so finding them shouldn't have been that hard. You were heading outside, when you heard small cries from upstairs. Every worse case scenario popped into your mind as you grabbed a gun and bursted through the door. Once there, you saw your family gathered around in a huddle.

"What's wrong? Is anyone hurt?" you asked them and quickly kneeled beside them.

"Honey, I'm pregnant," your mother told you.

"Really! That's amazing!" you yelled excitedly.

She gave you a sad smile.

"I don't see the problem, is there something else?" you asked and turned to everyone else for help.

"We had a robbery today. My employer accused me of stealing over $100,000," your dad explained.

"You've worked there for 10 years! How could he?" you asked incredulously.

"I know, but we don't have the money for a lawyer, much less to pay the stolen money back," your dad told you tiredly.

"I'll quit school! I'll get a job! I'll do anything to help you!" you exclaimed.

"We know you would, but we don't want you to waste all of your potential," your mom replied.

"Which is why they need to ask you to do something for us," one of your sisters intervened.

"Anything," you immediately replied.

"We need you to go live with your aunt and uncle," your dad told you.

"What?" you asked confused.

"They offered to pay it all off if you trained to take over the company instead of Momo," your mom explained.

"Me? But why?" you whispered trying to hold back your tears. "How could I go somewhere away from you guys?"

You didn't want to hear anymore, so you ran out of your house. Dramatic, sure, but you had no idea what else to do. You ran in front of a street without realizing it. You saw a light coming straight for you before you found yourself on the floor.

"Ma'am, are you okay?" you heard a voice.

"I'm only 15, geeze," you replied while being slightly disoriented.

"Do you need to go to the hospital?" the male asked.

"No, I just need to lay down," you replied while holding your head.

He led you to a bench at a bus stop and helped you sit down. You groaned and kept holding your head.

"That was very reckless of you. Running around without being aware of your surroundings is a recipe for disaster," he started lecturing you.

While he was in the middle of his lecture you were able to focus again and noticed he looked about your age. He was also wearing running clothes.

"Yeah, I know. Thanks for saving me, Hero," you teased him.

"I was only doing what anyone else would have done," he replied humbly.

"But no one else did it, did they?" you asked him.

He didn't reply.

"Really, thank you. I'm Yaoyorozu (Y/N), what's your name?" you asked him with an outstretched hand.

"Yaoyorozu? Oh, Please forgive me! My name is Iida Tenya," he replied.

He was about to bow when he noticed your hand. He hesitantly shook your hand.

"Sorry, for interfering with your— run I'm guessing? I should get going, but I promise to repay you one day," you told him.

"Really, there's no need," he told you.

"Too bad I'm still doing it!" You quickly said before running back home.

You had to get out of there before you embarrassed yourself. Under your hard working exterior, you were extremely shy  around guys.
