We'll Always Be Together: Part 3: Finale
The Dragon and his Rider walked along the grass covered ground. It was currently summer, meaning that soon, the grass would die and would make way for fall, which would then make way for the chilly ice and snow of winter. The only reason that the shadowy place was still a crevice of ice and snow was because the three Rogue Dragons were ice dragons. They kept their home cold to their liking. The grass was crunching beneath Draco's large feet. Two human children and their dragons walked behind the two, looking very shamed. Ben gently patted Draco's neck, letting the large Dragon know to stop. Ben got out of the saddle, landing on the ground with a thud as his feet hit the ground. He looked to where Ashanti was flying ahead of them.
"Ashanti." He said sternly. He was still upset of the actions that his daughter had taken. Ashanti landed before the Rider, showing her still slight fear at Ben's anger.
'Yes, my Lord?' She asked hesitantly. Ben glanced back at his daughter, her dragon and their best friends. Ben looked up at Draco.
"Draco, you and Ashanti lead Freddie, Alagard and Astrid home. I've got to teach my daughter a lesson." Ben said. [Y/N] lowered her head, trying to hide from her father's angry gaze. Draco nodded to his Rider.
'As you wish, my friend.' He said. Ashanti bowed in respect to the Ruler. Draco walked over to his daughter, gently picking her up by the scruff of her neck. Ashanti landed in front of Freddie and Apalala.
'Come Freddie, Alagard,' she faced the Ruler's daughter. '[Y/N],' she sighed and gently nuzzled the child's cheek in reassurance. 'Good luck.' She said. Freddie got into Alagard's saddle and the young dragon followed after the two older dragons. Ben was facing away from his daughter, looking at the stars.
"[Y/N]!" Ben shouted. The word reverberated in the silent, summer night air. The young girl slowly turned around and walked towards her father. While following, [Y/N] walked into a larger print than her's. She looked down to see that she had stepped into a larger footprint of her father's, the underneath of his shoe matching with her's. it dawned on her that she had a very large role to fill after her father. She looked up at her father and continued forward, still hesitant. She sat next to her father, who was sitting on the grassy ground. Ben had his eyes closed, a stern look on his face. He thought for a few moments, not looking at his daughter before finally turning to the young girl. "[Y/N], I am very disappointed in you." Ben said sternly. [Y/N] looked down at the ground and let out a very quiet and sad "I know." Ben continued.
"You could have been killed," he said. "You deliberately disobeyed me. And what's worse, you put not only your dragon in danger, but you put Freddie and Alagard in danger to!" Ben said. [Y/N] wiped furiously at her eyes, which now had tears falling from them. She sniffed.
"I-I was just trying to be brave, like you." She said, her voice cracking. Ben sighed. He knew he was being harsh with his daughter by saying those things, but he had to make her realize the severity of the situation before. Ben looked down at his daughter. His expression softened a little bit, however, his tone was still a bit stern.
"I'm only brave when I have to be," [Y/N] wasn't looking at her father. "[Y/N]," she looked up at him. "Being brave, doesn't mean looking for trouble." He explained. [Y/N] shook her head.
"But you're not scared of anything." She said. She had come to believe that her Father and his Dragon feared nothing. They were both incredibly strong and they were very brave and fierce in battle. [Y/N] wiped more tears from her eyes. Ben looked away.
"I was today," He said. [Y/N]'s eyes widened.
"You were?" She asked. Ben nodded.
"Yes," he turned to look at his daughter. He cupped her face in his calloused hands, gently brushing away any stray tears that fell from his beloved daughter's eyes. "I thought I might loose you." He said. [Y/N] sniffed as the tears stopped. Ben removed his hands. [Y/N] looked down in thought.
"Oh," she lightened slightly. "I guess even Rulers get scared, huh?" She asked. Ben smiled slightly and nodded humming in agreement. [Y/N] then got up and whispered into her father's ear,
"But you know what?" She whispered, smirking. Ben smiled slightly, whispering back.
"What?"
"I think those Rogue Dragons were even scareder." She said. Ben let out a chuckle and narrowed his eyes playfully.
"That's 'cause nobody messes with your dad," he said. He bent down and picked his daughter up. "Come here you!" He gave his daughter a playful noogie. She struggled to get out of his grip.
"Oh, no, dad! Errggh! Ahh!" She lunged at her father, who dodged the playful attack and went running into the field of grass. [Y/N] chased after her father, the two laughing joyously. [Y/N] soon caught up and tackled her father to the ground. Ben rolled slightly, [Y/N] tugging on his upper arm. Ben ended up laying on his front, [Y/N] laying on his back. Her arms were wrapped around his shoulders. She smiled at her father.
"Dad?" She asked. Ben looked at his daughter over his shoulder.
"Hmm?" He hummed. [Y/N] smiled.
"We're pals, right?" She asked. Ben smiled and let out a chuckle.
"Right." He said.
"And we'll always be together, right?" She asked. Ben sighed and turned his head forward. He knew he had to tell her that they might not always be together. One day, Ben and Draco would die, leaving [Y/N] behind, letting her and Astrid Rule over the Village. However, for now, he would tell [Y/N] what she wanted to hear. Ben sat up, [Y/N] gently sliding off of his back. He reached over and picked his daughter up and held her close, nuzzling his nose into her cheek.
"Yes, my darling girl. We will be together for a long while." He said, kissing her cheek. They lifted their eyes up to the sky.
"Dad, do you think Uncle Gwil, Uncle Joe, Uncle Rami and Aunty Lucy are looking up at the same stars?" She asked. Ben smiled and kissed her head.
"I don't doubt it for a second, my little Dragon Rider." He said.
