Chapter 10
After Taehyung left his penthouse, Jeongguk realizes that he did not think far ahead because now he's stuck on his couch, not able to move due to his injuries and the lack of crutches which he can only get tomorrow.
Jeongguk reaches towards the side table and takes the house phone, dialing Yoongi's number. The cafe would be closed by now so Yoongi should be able to answer.
After three rings, Yoongi finally picks up the call, and judging from the tone of his voice, he's really exhausted. Jeongguk suddenly remembers Taehyung telling him that the cafe was busy today. Jeongguk immediately feels guilty from calling Yoongi.
"Uh, I need your help," Jeongguk says and he's surprised that Yoongi doesn't ask anything further and just assures Jeongguk that he'll be at his penthouse soon. Jeongguk thanks him before he hangs up, falling back on the couch and fights off the sleep that threatens to take over him.
"You look worse than I thought."
Jeongguk opens his eyes and watches Yoongi take off his shoes at the doorway and then walk towards the living room to take the spot beside Jeongguk. Yoongi's eyes scan over Jeongguk's figure.
"Well, maybe you should've checked on me first before leaving me with Kim. You know how much he hates my guts, he could've easily thrown me off a ditch and leave me there to rot," Jeongguk says but feels relieved to see Yoongi. He was, believe it or not, grateful for Taehyung's help today but no one gives him the same comfort that Yoongi does. After all, they've known each other for longer and Yoongi becomes the big brother to Jeongguk while his real brother is busy getting educated and trained to run their company.
Yoongi chuckles and ruffles Jeongguk's hair with a fond look on his face.
"And yet you're here, alive and well," Yoongi says and Jeongguk only snorts, mumbling a quiet, barely. "Stop making him look like he's a cold-blooded murderer. He's just a kid like you with too much pride."
Jeongguk looks away in embarrassment and slight guilt. "Okay, you have a point there."
Yoongi grins.
"Of course," he says then wipes off the grin on his face and replaces it with a questioning look. "Why did you call me over? Luckily I just left the cafe when you called. If I was already at home, it would've been harder for me to drag my ass here."
Jeongguk chuckles and apologizes to Yoongi for bothering him to which the older only dismisses with a wave of his hand.
"I have to get my crutches tomorrow from the campus infirmary and well," Jeongguk pauses and gestures at his body. "I'm kinda injured."
Yoongi gives him a bored look.
"You want me to get them for you?" Yoongi asks and Jeongguk responds with a nod of his head. Yoongi seems to think about it.
"No."
Jeongguk looks at him with a betrayed look.
"What?"
Yoongi rolls his eyes like the reason should be obvious. Jeongguk continues to stare at him waiting for his explanation. If Yoongi is not willing to get the crutches for him, he has no idea who else to ask.
"I'm busy," is all Yoongi says and Jeongguk almost screams in frustration. This must be how Taehyung felt earlier when he also asked for Yoongi's help.
"I promise I'll pay you back," Jeongguk practically begs, not wanting to entertain the idea of him being stuck in his couch until his ankle heals up.
"But that doesn't change the fact that I'm busy," Yoongi says and when he sees the desperate look on Jeongguk's face, he sighs. "Ask Taehyung."
Jeongguk suddenly glares at that. The thought of Taehyung helping him once more (and Jeongguk owing him another favor) immediately irritates him. It's already bad enough that he owes Taehyung two favors (and that he has Jeongguk's car and pretty much have open access to Jeongguk's penthouse and his pool).
"Why him?" Jeongguk asks exasperatedly. He ignores the fact that he has a bit of an idea why Yoongi keeps suggesting for Taehyung to help Jeongguk considering how Yoongi has been teasing Jeongguk about his gym rival ever since Jeongguk started giving Taehyung coffee anonymously. Even though Jeongguk have stopped doing so for a while now, Yoongi's teasing has not stopped to Jeongguk's endless frustration.
"Because no one can replace me at the cafe but Taehyung can replace me as your babysitter," Yoongi explains simply and Jeongguk hates to admit it but the older has a point.
Jeongguk thought of asking someone else instead and immediately thought of Jimin and Hoseok who he considers as people he's closest to among the people he knows at the campus. He never thought that the day that Jeongguk admits that he's friends with Park Jimin would ever come but here he is. Jeongguk used to only know Jimin as jackass' (aka Kim Taehyung) gym buddy.
Jeongguk was about to suggest that he'll call Jimin or Hoseok instead but then halts when he realizes that it's not really a good idea. He doesn't want to bother the two any further especially that now he has to miss the dance showcase, meaning those two dancers would have to work harder to do some slight changes without Jeongguk in their formations. He already feels guilty enough that he doesn't think he can ask them to do him a favor.
Without much of a choice, and to Yoongi's satisfaction, Jeongguk reluctantly agrees.
"Fine. But you have to pay me back for refusing to help me twice," Jeongguk grits out and it only made Yoongi laugh.
After their discussion, Yoongi gives Taehyung's number to Jeongguk and tells him to text or call the other to ask him to pick up the crutches for him. Jeongguk saves the number with aggressive tapping on his screen that made Yoongi worry for the poor phone screen that became a victim to Jeongguk's foul mood.
With those issues aside, Yoongi finally helps Jeongguk get ready to bed, cleaning up his body with a wet washcloth to avoid wetting Jeongguk's bandages. Yoongi also helps the younger to stand up by the bathroom sink so he could brush his teeth and wash his face. When they finally got to the bedroom, to Jeongguk's utter relief, Yoongi quickly helped Jeongguk to change his clothes then tucks him to bed.
Before Yoongi leaves, he gives a pat on Jeongguk's shoulder then moves towards the doorway. He switches off the light, holds the doorknob and before he leaves the room he turns around to Jeongguk with a soft smile.
"Be more careful next time. Good night."
When Taehyung wakes up the next morning, he screams.
Upon hearing this, Jimin immediately enters Taehyung's room without bothering to knock and there's a frantic look on his face. He watches Taehyung, who is sitting up on his bed, as he clutches his phone tightly and staring at it in horror. Jimin's concern grows.
"What happened? Are you okay?" Jimin asks, approaching Taehyung's bed carefully as to not catch the other in surprise. He's not really looking forward to being punched in the face in this lovely morning.
Taehyung, on the other hand, continues to stare at his phone, more specifically at the text that was sent to him last night which he was only able to read when he opened his phone the minute he woke up.
From: Unknown
can you pick up my crutches tomorrow
this is jeongguk btw
i'll do u another favor
pls
thx
When Taehyung reads it over again, the surprise finally wears off, replaced with something close to irritation. He finally notices Jimin's presence beside him.
"What is it?" Jimin asks, concerned and curious.
"Jeongguk texted me. That asshole asked me to pick up his crutches for him," Taehyung finally explains. The concerned look on Jimin's face immediately melts away and then he throws a light punch on Taehyung's shoulder, making him protest and dramatically grunt in pain.
"Got me worried over nothing," Jimin mumbles then glares at Taehyung. "I thought something serious happened but it was just you freaking over your crush texting you."
At that, it's Taehyung's turn to punch Jimin on his arm, harder than Jimin's hit earlier. Jimin tries to dodge but he wasn't quick enough.
"I don't like him," Taehyung emphasizes even though he knows Jimin would never believe it. "I freaked out because it's creepy how he got my phone number in the first place. I don't remember giving it to him."
Jimin rolls his eyes at him, still absentmindedly rubbing at the spot that Taehyung just punched.
"Yoongi hyung probably gave it to him," Jimin says with a shrug.
Taehyung and Yoongi got each other's number through Jimin and they both know that Yoongi has a close relationship with Jeongguk. It's a possible scenario that makes more sense than Jeongguk being a creep.
Taehyung thinks about it.
"Oh, of course, right," Taehyung says and Jimin snorts at him.
"Are you going to his place later then?"
Taehyung suddenly remembers the events from last night. He gotta admit, he wouldn't mind going back there only because he wants to see more of the beautiful interior of the penthouse. The idea of seeing Jeongguk again, however, is not as pleasant and appealing.
"I guess so," Taehyung answers, combing through his hair to untangle the bird's nest that has formed on top of his head from his sleep. He's not entirely sure why he's not really putting up a fight much on the thought of helping Jeongguk once again but he argues to himself that Jeongguk giving Taehyung another favor is enough for him to do this little task. After all, he has a car now that he can use to make his travel to the infirmary and the penthouse much easier.
"Let's go grab some lunch first. I'm starving," Taehyung says after a few moments and as if on cue, they both hear a low growl from Taehyung's stomach before they start chuckling at each other.
After recovering from their laughter, Jimin shoots him a grin in approval.
"Hell yes to that," Jimin says before he leaves Taehyung's room to get ready.
"Jjajangmyeon."
"No, Japchae."
"He likes Jjajangmyeon!"
"And that's exactly why we're not giving him that. He should be grateful enough for the free food."
Jimin glares at Taehyung.
"Can you stop being petty for once? And I'm the one buying him his lunch. Why do you get to choose what I buy for him?" Jimin counters and Taehyung immediately closes his mouth at that after grumbling fine under his breath. Jimin nods in satisfaction before proceeding to order some Jjajangmyeon for Jeongguk.
"Why do you have to buy him lunch?" Taehyung asks as Jimin hands his crumpled bill to the cashier.
"He doesn't have his crutches so I doubt he has eaten anything since last night. I still can't believe you only gave him ramen last night," Jimin says, looking at Taehyung in disbelief before he pockets his wallet. They both walked to the side of the counter as they wait for the order.
"His fridge was empty!" Taehyung defends, which is true, but Jimin ignores him.
They just finished eating lunch, which Jimin had paid for because Taehyung is, once again, painfully broke. Jimin usually just lets it slide and doesn't ask anything in return but today is just not his day when Jimin asked him, in return for treating Taehyung his lunch, to drop off food for Jeongguk when Taehyung brings the crutches to Jeongguk's place later. Technically, all Taehyung has to do is give Jeongguk the food but for some reason, he still feels petty about it.
When they finally got the Jjajangmyeon, Jimin immediately bids Taehyung goodbye and tells him that he has to go to the studio for their dance practice. Taehyung also left right after, going back to his apartment building where he left Jeongguk's car. He doesn't really have anything planned today so he decided to get things over with and go get Jeongguk's crutches.
As Taehyung arrives at the infirmary, he was greeted with Jiwoo's familiar face.
"Taehyung!" Jiwoo exclaims, a smile growing on her face. Taehyung could not help but return the smile and greet her just as enthusiastically.
"Are you here for Jeongguk's crutches?" Jiwoo asks as soon as she settles back on her desk with Taehyung standing right in front of it. Taehyung only nods his head in response before Jiwoo excuses herself and made her way towards one of the rooms. When she came back, she's holding a pair of crutches.
"I got it first thing in the morning today. Jeongguk must be having a hard time since last night," Jiwoo says as she hands the crutches to Taehyung.
"Thank you," Taehyung says with a grateful smile. Jiwoo gives a wave at him and then Taehyung finds himself back in Jeongguk's car to make his way to Jeongguk's penthouse. It's still early in the afternoon and he's already looking forward to finishing his task for today so he can get home early and probably catch up on his sleep.
The drive to Cheongdam-dong is smooth, as Taehyung, fortunately, remembers the route to Jeongguk's penthouse despite only going there once.
The traffic was awful, with the road busier because it's the weekend. Every time Taehyung hits a stop light, he takes the time to gaze outside the window and watch the crowd go about their business, most of them having fun and going out with their friends. Taehyung smiles upon seeing a particular group of friends walking out of a convenience store, their hands full of cone ice creams that they just bought.
Taehyung finally reaches his destination after a while, the drive taking him longer than he expected, and exits the car with the Jjajangmyeon on one hand and the crutches on the other. When he passed by the security guard at the front doors, they both gave each other a friendly smile before Taehyung makes his way towards an empty elevator.
The ride is long as usual, with Jeongguk living at the top floor, and he's thankful that there's music playing inside, one that he knows and hums along with. When a sound signals his arrival, he steps out quickly, making his way down the hallway with the door of Jeongguk's penthouse at the very end.
Taehyung dials Jeongguk's number. As he's waiting for Jeongguk to pick up the call, Taehyung could not help but chuckle as he realizes the situation he's in. Taehyung would have never thought that he would ever be Jeongguk's babysitter and yet here they are.
"Why are you calling?" was the first thing Jeongguk says after picking up the call. Taehyung wonders why he's even helping this jackass in the first place.
"Hello to you too," Taehyung says, his tone dripping with sarcasm. "I'm at your front door. I'll be going inside now."
"Why didn't you just do so in the first place?" Jeongguk says and Taehyung grits his teeth irritatedly.
"Because I am polite. If you don't like me doing that, I promise to just barge in next time," Taehyung says, rolling his eyes which he wishes Jeongguk should've seen. He hears Jeongguk heave a sigh.
"Fucking hell, just get inside, will you?" Jeongguk says, sounding annoyed and impatient before ending the call and not giving Taehyung a chance to retort. Taehyung scoffs before putting his phone back on his pocket, crouching down to retrieve the card key and opens the door. Even Jeongguk's door looks luxurious.
The house is quiet, as Taehyung expected it to be. Jeongguk couldn't have been able to walk around so Taehyung assumes the other must be in his room. How he went to his room last night? Taehyung wouldn't know.
After several turning and peeking into the many hallways and rooms, Taehyung finally found Jeongguk's room. He learned it the hard way when as soon as Taehyung opens the door and peeks his head inside, something hits his head with so much force he almost stumbles back. He looks down at the object that hit him and finds a black pillow. When he looks up, he was met with Jeongguk's figure sitting up on his bed with his eyes wide in surprise.
"Could you at least knock?" Jeongguk yells when Taehyung fully enters the room.
"Weren't you just telling me to barge in earlier? Now you want me to knock? Make up your mind," Taehyung says, walking closer towards Jeongguk's bed so he can give him all his stuff and leave as soon as possible.
Taehyung tries hard to stop himself from gawking at the interior of the room. He did not exactly expect Jeongguk's room to be clean and minimal. He expected a more tragic room with his clothes covering every surface of the room. Taehyung hates to admit how his own room is the more tragic one while Jeongguk's is slick and free of any clutters. And god forbid him from saying it out loud but the black and grey theme of Jeongguk's room is really fucking hot. What the fuck.
"Crutches and free lunch. You're welcome," Taehyung says, dropping the two items on Jeongguk's bed.
"Free lunch? I told you to only get me my crutches. I'm not giving you a favor for that," Jeongguk says with his brows raised. Taehyung can only roll his eyes.
"It's from Jimin."
"Oh."
Taehyung nods his head. "Yeah. Well, okay, this has been a complete waste of my time but I want you to tell me what favor I'm going to get from this."
Jeongguk doesn't answer right away, instead, he grabs the container of Jjajangmyeon and lets a smile grace his face upon seeing the delicious meal. He takes the chopsticks from the plastic and starts digging in. The way he's eating it is as if he had completely forgotten about Taehyung, who is standing in complete disbelief as he stares at Jeongguk with his arms crossed over his chest.
"God bless Park Jimin. He's an angel," Jeongguk says through a mouthful of Jjajangmyeon and Taehyung grimaces in disgust.
"God bless Taehyung for giving you your crutches and food. Now, what's the favor?" Taehyung interrupts impatiently. Jeongguk's smile slides off and he glares at Taehyung.
"Fine, alright," Jeongguk says, wiping off some sauce on his lips with the napkin that came along with his food. "I'll buy you food. You pick what and when but not while I'm still dependent on my crutches."
Taehyung whines shamelessly.
"Why not? Just give me your money and I'll buy myself something," Taehyung protests but Jeongguk ignores him with a shake of his head. When he spoke, there's a final tone in his voice.
"No, that's exactly why I can't let you buy it yourself. I don't trust you with the money. I should be there when you buy."
Taehyung wants to argue some more but the logical side of him that is barely there stopped him and he mumbles a quiet fine to Jeongguk's satisfaction.
Taehyung leaves immediately after that, leaving with Jeongguk's mumble of gratitude and went on with his day.
After that visit, Taehyung didn't think he'd ever have to go back to Jeongguk's penthouse again. After all, Jeongguk got his crutches now and can function on his own without his help.
This is what Taehyung thought. What really happened though is Taehyung visiting the other's penthouse becoming a routine. Apparently, Jeongguk would still need some assistance (told by the nurse) and would not be able to prepare himself a nice meal (told by Park Jimin, highly unreliable). So, Jimin, ever the asshole, keeps it his daily mission to prepare a nice meal for Jeongguk and make Taehyung deliver it because Jimin is not able to do so. Taehyung can't exactly argue with him about that because Jimin is indeed busy, both with his projects and dance practices. Without having much choice, Taehyung has been delivering Jeongguk his lunches, which is to Jeongguk's utter delight because 1.) Free lunch and 2.) Taehyung's suffering.
Taehyung finds that it isn't as bad because it gives him distraction sometimes from his responsibilities for school that he needs to get away from once in a while. But on Wednesday, it seems that Taehyung is finally completely drained, even though it was only in the middle of the week, and Hoseok immediately takes notice at this at the locker room after they just finished their track practice.
"Hey, you alright?" Hoseok gently asks, nudging Taehyung as they both change into their new pair of fresh clothes.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Just a bit tired," Taehyung answers, closing his locker and slinging his bag over his shoulder. Hoseok falls into step beside him and they began walking out of the locker room.
"School been bothering you?" Hoseok asks after a while. Taehyung takes a huge breath of fresh air before answering.
"Yeah. Lots of big projects are coming in and I don't know how I can balance all of them and finish them in time before they're due. Inspiration and motivation are hard to achieve. Plus, I haven't been in my creative zone lately. It fucking sucks."
Hoseok nods his head as he listens earnestly to Taehyung's complaints and frustrations, knowing well that listening to him would help ease the other up. Taehyung lets out a loud sigh after he finishes talking.
"Hey, you'll get through it. Just hang in there for a little bit."
Taehyung easily returns the smile that Hoseok sends his way.
"Thanks, hyung," Taehyung says and pats Hoseok at the back. Hoseok does the same.
"Well, I'll see you around!" Hoseok says with another blinding smile before he separates himself from Taehyung's side and starts walking to a different direction.
"Bye, hyung!" Taehyung shouts after the older and he remains on his spot until Hoseok's retreating back finally disappears. Taehyung turns and makes his way towards Grand Cafe where he parks the borrowed car from Jeongguk.
When Taehyung finally makes it to the cafe, he made sure to drop by inside to greet Yoongi like he always does unless the cafe is too busy. Yoongi, as usual, gives him a wave of goodbye and tells Taehyung to drive home safe.
Taehyung starts the car and settles himself comfortably on the leather chair. As he backs up from the parking lot, Taehyung could not help but smile to himself as he suddenly remembers how he even has this vehicle in the first place. Sure, the gas really empties his wallet faster than he would've liked but having a vehicle like this really takes him to places that he used to never go to due to not wanting to squeeze himself at the train station. With this car, Taehyung has become more eager to actually go grocery shopping instead of just dropping by the nearby convenience store to buy packs of ramen that would temporarily feed them and quench his and Jimin's hunger until one of them finally decides to actually go to the grocery store to buy proper food.
The Grand Cafe is not too far away from Taehyung's apartment building so he wasn't surprised to see the familiar building ahead after just a few minutes. However, instead of taking a turn to enter the apartment building's parking lot, he continued to drive until he passed the building. His muscles are still tense and his mind running a mile a minute from the stress and his worries that are weighing him down by his shoulders.
Earlier before the track practice, Taehyung thought that he'd be able to relax from the exercise that he would get from the practice. However, even by the end of it, the familiar heaviness in his core from stress unfortunately remains and until now, as it is getting late at night, he could still feel it. Not to mention, the feeling of dread creeping up on him from the thought of starting his new projects without a hint of inspiration and motivation.
Taehyung opens the car window on his side, letting in the night breeze that brushes softly through his hair. As he zooms through the night road and the orange hue of the street lights, a thought suddenly comes to his mind. It's probably late but Taehyung knows that he would be able to enter the penthouse just fine.
Taehyung quickly changes directions, now having a proper destination in mind. From his mindless driving earlier, he thankfully drove near the Gangnam district so his destination wouldn't be too far from where he is right now.
Taehyung reaches his destination in no time, parking the car in front of the familiar building, too familiar to his liking after coming here almost every day to check on Jeongguk. Taehyung has been coming here too often that some staffs and the security guard of the building recognizes him and gives him friendly smiles every time he comes by.
"Taehyung! I'm surprised to see you here so late."
Taehyung turns and sees Joohyun, a friendly receptionist, smiling at him with a surprised look on her face.
"Hey, Joohyun," Taehyung greets. "Yeah, I usually don't come here so late, do I? But I just need to do something before I head home."
Joohyun nods her head after Taehyung's explanation.
"How is Mr. Jeon doing?"
"He's alright. He's probably enjoying having an excuse to miss school," Taehyung says with a light chuckle.
"Hm, probably," Joohyun says with a laugh. "Tell him that I said to get well soon! He used to go out running at night. I'm sure he misses that."
Taehyung gives her a thumbs up and promises her that he would deliver her message before he finally makes his way towards one of the elevators.
Reaching the top floor, Taehyung saunters over the single door and expertly snatches the spare card key underneath the doormat. Like he always does, he presses the button of the doorbell twice to let his presence known before using the card key and letting himself in.
When Taehyung walks in, he finds the living room empty but the lights in the room are still on as well are the lights from the kitchen. Jeongguk must still be up.
Taehyung gingerly toes off his outdoor shoes and, speaking of the devil, Jeongguk's figure emerges from the kitchen. Jeongguk is resting his weight on his crutches while his one hand clutches a cereal box and the other is shoved down deep inside the box.
"What are you doing here?" Jeongguk asks before throwing a couple cereal flakes inside his mouth, munching on them loudly with an open mouth. Taehyung grimaces at him.
"I'm using your pool," Taehyung explains curtly, already making his way towards the sliding doors beside the living room that would lead him to the pool outside.
"And who said you can just waltz in here to use my pool? At this late hour?" Jeongguk asks, raising an unamused brow. Another munch.
"It's one of your favors for me. Part of it is also me being able to use your pool anytime I want," Taehyung replies with a roll of his eyes. He's not really in the mood to argue with the other, not wanting to add Jeongguk to the things that are already stressing him out. He came here to relax.
Fortunately, Jeongguk drops it and makes a shooing motion at Taehyung as he grips at his crutches and starts walking towards the couch with the cereal box tucked under his chin. He looks stupid and Taehyung tells him so.
"Shut up, Kim," is all that Jeongguk says, already distracted by the television in front of him as he began picking a movie to watch on Netflix. Taehyung momentarily had the thought to sit down beside the other and watch a movie instead but Taehyung gets rid of the thought before he entertains it further. The pool would be much nicer compared to a movie with Jeongguk.
Taehyung turns his back and slides open the door to the pool outside. The breeze hits him and he lets out a sigh as a soft smile appears on his face. Before he completely steps outside though, he turns around once again towards Jeongguk.
"Joohyun said to get well soon," Taehyung says.
"Mm, alright," Jeongguk says, still distracted. Taehyung was about to step out but suddenly remembers something.
"Wait, I'm guessing you haven't used the pool for a while," Taehyung says and at this Jeongguk finally retracts his gaze from the television in front of him and turns his attention to Taehyung.
"Haven't used the pool for months, actually. What about it?"
"Isn't the pool dirty then?" Taehyung worries. He hates to think that he came here late at night for nothing. He's not really fond of the thought of cleaning the pool. It would possibly stress him out even more when his sole purpose of coming here was the exact opposite.
Jeongguk rolls his eyes at him. "Someone comes in every day to clean the pool. Every night the pool heater is also turned on so it should be warm."
Taehyung nods his head and finally steps outside then closes the sliding door behind him.
He makes his way towards the pool. He's thankfully not fumbling around in the dark because of the pool lights that are turned on. In this quiet atmosphere with the night breeze and the calm pool water in front of him, he already started feeling his worries melting away.
Taehyung sets his bag on the ground. Taehyung looks behind him through the glass, and very see-through, sliding doors to check if Jeongguk is looking before he strips off his sweats and his shirt, leaving him only with his boxers. He always brings an extra set of clothes in his bag every time he goes to track practice so he can just wear those after swimming.
After dropping his clothes on the ground on a neat pile beside his bag, he dives into the water. Sure enough, the water was indeed warm like Jeongguk have told him earlier.
Now surrounded with water, Taehyung feels his muscles relax and he lets out a sigh of content at the feeling. He've always loved going to the water when something is worrying him and he needed to relax. That is why he was immensely happy after finding out that Jeongguk has his own pool that Taehyung could use through one of the favors that Jeongguk has to do or give to him.
Taehyung looks ahead of him and finds a beautiful view of the city below him and he lets out a surprised laugh. Taehyung doesn't even know where to begin on how much inspiration he could get from this view alone. He couldn't help but feel a tad bit jealous of the kind of life that Jeongguk has to be able to live at such a beautiful penthouse with a view of the city like this. Taehyung immediately erases these thoughts and focuses instead on appreciating the view before he decided to float on his back to let go of his thoughts and worries.
Taehyung empties his head of any thoughts of his projects and Jeongguk, deciding to relax with an empty mind.
Now, free of thoughts, Taehyung lets his eyes wander from the view of the city until his gaze stops on Jeongguk's figure through the glass doors. What he doesn't expect was for his eyes to linger. Taehyung suddenly couldn't take his gaze off of Jeongguk.
Taehyung watches as Jeongguk focuses on the movie playing in front of him, the cereal flakes that he has been munching on earlier long forgotten on his lap. The lights around him have been turned off, leaving only the light from the television to illuminate Jeongguk's features.
Jeongguk's eyes seem to sparkle, the light forming shadows at the right places on his face making Taehyung notice Jeongguk's features that he never really paid attention to like the slope of his nose, the shape of his eyes that almost resembles one of an almond, the thickness of his brows that complements his eyes, and his pouting lips when he's so fixated on something.
Taehyung slowly stands up from his floating position earlier, all the while not taking his eyes off of Jeongguk who remains clueless at the burning gaze being directed at him.
Taehyung is an artist, who appreciate beauty in all its glory. Beauty can be found anywhere and Taehyung makes sure to appreciate it for all its worth when he stumbles into one. Having found one right now, he swims towards the edge of the pool and rests his arms there as he takes a few more moments to stare at the figure before him.
With an empty mind that is free of any concerns, Taehyung lets out an appreciative sigh.
"So pretty..."
On the other side of the glass doors, Jeongguk tries his best to ignore Taehyung's gaze on him.
