I Promise.

John's P.O.V.

The date was going perfectly. The atmosphere was perfect, the food was perfect, the conversation was perfect...Roger was perfect.

After clumsily feeding each other forkfuls of our food for the other to try we had shared a dessert and now we were just sipping on what was our second bottle of Moët and Chandon.

"How do you think Fred's coping with being alone with Brian?" Roger asked, grinning.

"I'm going to take a wild guess and say, not very well." I chuckled imagining the scenarios that could have been happening.

"That boy is crazy about him. I feel bad that we're kind of advancing and Brian might not even like men. Fred might never get a chance with him..." Roger sounded genuinely sad about the prospect.

"He's done so much to help us...we need to try and help Freddie now..." I swilled my champagne around in my glass.

"I agree." Roger nodded.

There was a comfortable silence until Roger spoke again.

"So, Deaks. Out of ten, how was tonight?" He asked, blushing.

"Are you kidding me. It was way above a ten." I grabbed his hand from across the table and he let me take it, I felt his thumb stroke my hand and a shiver travelled down my spine.

"So...does this mean we can go on another date?" He looked down all bashful.

I squeezed his hand and he looked up at me again, "Of course. The sooner the better." I grinned.

He raised his eyebrows in shock and cracked into a smile, "Tomorrow?" He said quietly.

My heart skipped a beat, I thought I'd have to wait till next week to have Roger all to myself again but to be able to have him tomorrow?! How could I resist?

"Yes! Tomorrow." I nodded eagerly.

His smile grew and he laughed, "Amazing."

We had finished our champagne and we were ready to leave, "I'm just going to nip to the toilet, I'll be right back." He said as he slipped away.

Once he was out of sight I let out a heavy sigh of satisfaction. A noticeable warmth was present in my heart, I felt lucky. Loads of people were after him and he chose me? I felt wonderful that I was no longer hiding behind a mask anymore. We were in it together.

I just hope, really hope that we end up getting together. I would be the happiest person in the world.

"Are you ready to go?" I felt his hands on my shoulders as he stood behind my chair, I nodded and stood up, he held open my jacket...Freddie's jacket...and I slipped it on.

"We need to pay." I reminded him as we were leaving out through the doors.

"I've already paid, Deaky, don't worry." He flashed me a gorgeous grin. "Shall we?" He offered me his arm, I was shocked but I wasn't one to deny, so I linked in with him and we headed to a taxi, he must have already called it for us.

It was like he was completely comfortable and didn't care if people looked at us, I wished and wanted to not care but I still had this niggling feeling in the back of my mind that people would look at us and judge...especially if it's the press, they'd have a field day if they caught two members of Queen hooking up. But I tried to ignore those thoughts and embrace the feel of our arms linked together.

We bundled into the taxi and soon we were on our way home, it was just past midnight and I was getting tired but I was still hyper about the date with Roger, we sat closely, I wanted to hold his hand but resisted the urge, I glanced at him as he looked through the window, he was utterly gorgeous.

Soon the taxi pulled up in front of our house, I couldn't decide if living in the same house was a blessing or a nightmare, at least I didn't have to say goodbye to him at the end of the night, but I did have him in the room next to mine which was going to test my patience and temptations.

Roger paid the driver and we got out, I linked my arm in with his again and we walked up the steps to the front door, he tested the handle and it was unlocked, Freddie had probably been waiting up for us.

We got in and quietly went down the hallway into the living room, it was eerily quiet but the lights were still on.

We cautiously looked around the living room but couldn't see anyone, but Rog poked me silently and motioned over to the kitchen, we exchanged 'oh shit' expressions as there, sitting at the breakfast bar with his head down on the table and his hand wrapped around a glass of vodka...was Freddie.

"I'll go see if he's alright, I'll come see you before I go to bed." I smiled at Roger who nodded at me and made his way up the stairs.

Either Freddie was asleep and hadn't heard us or was just so drunk he couldn't lift his head up.

I tiptoed towards him and took a seat opposite him, I carefully prised the glass from his hand in case he woke with a start and spilled its contents. I gently tugged on a bit of his hair, he stirred a little.

"Freddie?" I whispered.

He groaned groggily and slowly lifted up his head, wincing from the light in his eyes as he rubbed them. I was rewarded with a cute, little, tired smile when he saw me.

"You're back..." he whispered, his voice thick with exhaustion.

He wasn't drunk, he'd just fallen asleep. And he looked adorable.

"Yeah, we just got back." I whispered.

He cleared his throat and stretched his back, "How did it go?" He yawned but he seemed to be waking up.

I giggled, "It was perfect."

His smile grew and he had adoration in his eyes as he watched me.

"That's wonderful, Deaks. It really is." He grabbed my hand and squeezed it.
"Anything juicy happen?" He smirked.

"Not really, we just talked, told secrets, things like that." I shrugged.

"Did you hold hands?" His eyes were sparkling.

"No...we linked arms though."

Fred giggled and looked like an excited puppy.

"We're going on another date tomorrow..." I bit my lip and watched his eyes widen with shock.

"Tomorrow?!" He hissed.

I chuckled nodding my head, feeling a blush creep through my cheeks.

"That's brilliant, darling! Do you think you're going to get together?" He leaned further forward.

I shrugged, "I don't know. I hope so."

"Oh you will. I just know it." He found his glass of vodka and took a mouthful.

"How was your night in with Brian hmm?" I said playfully.

He looked down and messed about with his glass.
"It was okay." He answered, not looking at me.

"Fred?" I pushed.

He looked up and looked pained. "I wanted to...ask him some questions and knew the only way he'd answer me was...to get him drunk..." he cowered.

I groaned, knowing his story wasn't going to be a happy ending.

"I kept bringing out bottles of beers for us but I spiked his drinks and put a couple of shots of vodka into his bottles...he caught me staring at him again...we got talking and he asked if I had my eyes on anybody..."

My eyes widened and I leaned closer.

"I didn't want to tell him. So I said I'd tell him after a few more drinks, but I asked him if he liked anybody...he said yes..."

"Who?!" I whisper shouted.

"I don't know...I didn't want to know. And then that's when he thought there was something wrong with me, because I always tell you lot who I'm wanting and I always ask you who you're after...so he thought that was strange. So yes, anyway, he got really drunk, and asked me again so I told him to guess, I said he knew them...he guessed John, Peter, you, Roger... and then he fucking threw up." He cracked into a grin and a light giggle.

"What?! In the toilet right?!"

He nodded chuckling, taking another sip of vodka, "But stupid me, forgot that being sick scares the shit out of him so then he starts acting like a three year old! I take him into his room to go to bed, he couldn't unbutton his shirt so I had to do it for him. Then he just drops his fucking trousers and asks me to help him take them off! I was literally getting a hard on right there."

I was dying of laughter, careful not to wake up Brian and maybe Roger if he'd fallen asleep, this was typical Fred and Bri when they were together, something stupid always happens.

"You're fucking joking?!"

"I bloody wish! Do you know how hard I had to try and not suck him off right there and then?"

I slapped the table in my hysterics but I saw a pained expression in his face.

"What?" I asked in caution.

He shook his head, "As I was about to leave his room...he called me back...and asked, he asked if it was him..."

I stared at him in disbelief, "That you like?"

He nodded, sighing.

"Well what did you say? You said yes, right?" I rushed.

He shook his head a little, "I didn't say anything...I just walked out."

Was he crazy?
"You fucking idiot." I shook my head.

He flashed me a hurt face.

"Freddie! That could have been your chance! Why didn't you say yes?!" I was frantic.

"Deaky! He was fucking drunk! He probably just asked me as a joke. Even if I said yes he wouldn't remember that I did by the morning. Besides, why would he ask me anyways, it's not even like he goes for men." He downed the rest of his vodka.

"I can't believe you didn't take that chance."

"Yes alright. Just rub salt into the wound why don't you." He said bitterly.

"You don't know that he doesn't like men." I said seriously.

He gave me a sarcastic look, "You're telling me the person who he has eyes for is a man. Tell me another joke." He got up, putting his glass into the sink, I followed him and span him around.

"You know by neither saying yes or no to his question is going to spark some suspicion right? You might as well have just said yes because you didn't say no." I had him pinned against the work surface. Our torsos were pressed together. I kinda liked it...

"He's not going to remember it ever happened."

"And what if he does?"

"I'll figure that out when it comes to it." He tried to wriggle free but I stopped him.

"You fucking say yes to his question."
I could tell he was surprised by my forcefulness, shy and gentle Deaky wasn't there all the time.

"Yes okay. Now please leave it."

We made eye contact for a few seconds before I backed away, letting him go.

"You crazy bitch." He laughed in shock as he rubbed his back where I had him pressed against the surface.

I shrugged and flipped my hair, "I can be forceful too."

"Rogers going to fucking love that." He winked.

We made our way up the stairs, I undressed in my room and waited till I heard Fred was finished in our bathroom, I then went in, brushed my teeth and washed my face. I collected Freddie's jacket and softly knocked on his door.

"Come in." He said, hushed, I went in.

"Thanks for the loan." I said cheekily, handing him his jacket, "Think I may have to invest in my own."

He grabbed it from me and smiled, "I told you he likes a specimen in a leather jacket."

There was a short pause before he turned around to me in just his pyjama bottoms, "I'm really happy for you and Roger." He came closer, "Im glad it's all working out for you."

I smiled appreciatively, "Thank you Fred. It's all your doing that this is happening, you're brilliant." I put my hands on his bare shoulders, "Me and Rog are going to sort you and Brian out." I shook him lightly and it made him chuckle, "You have to say yes." I said in playful desperation.

He rolled his eyes, "Okay, okay, I will."

"You better. Promise me."

He huffed, "I promise."

"Say it like you mean it."

He grinned, hiding his teeth. "I promise!"

"That's better." I took him in a hug and squeezed him, I could feel the warmth of his body against mine and I enjoyed it, he hugged me back.

"Night night Fredster." I ruffled his long black hair.

He fought me off, "Night Deakston." He smiled shyly.

I shut his door behind me and went over to Rogers door, my heart was pumping at seeing him, I'd only just seen him half an hour ago but I needed to see him again, he was already like my drug.

I listened outside his door for a few seconds before knocking.

I heard shuffling and soon he opened the door to me.

"Hey!" He whispered, greeting me with a pearly grin and dazzling blue eyes. He was in his pyjamas now and looked cute as ever.

He let me in and closed the door behind us.

"How's Fred?" He asked, both of us sat on his bed.

"He's fine, he'd just fallen asleep. Some drama is going off between those two though."

"Shit. What's happened."

"Fred got him drunk, Bri tried to find out who Fred likes, Bri likes someone but Freddie doesn't want to know who, Bri threw up...Fred had to undress him and put him to bed and...Bri asked Fred if it was him who he liked and Freddie didn't answer him."

"Fuck. They literally can't cope without us..." he chuckled, "I can't believe Fred didn't say yes to Brian. He had a perfect opportunity right there!"

"Oh don't worry, I've already had a stern word with him about it, he's promised he'll say yes to him. Maybe leaving those two alone is a godsend but also a sin too."

"We'll sort them out." He winked.

"We have to, otherwise I'm sure Freddie's going to have some kind of nervous breakdown."

I glanced at Roger's hand on top of the duvet and grabbed it, I looked into those ocean eyes of his, "Thank you for tonight, Rog. It's been wonderful." I said shyly.

He squeezed my hand and gazed at me, "Thank you for being my date. It was one of the best nights I've ever had...and I can't wait to spend tomorrow night with you..."

I was internally screaming.
"Cutie." I muttered under my breath.

"What was that?" He pulled me closer.

"I called you a cutie..." I hid my reddening face.

He blushed and looked down, "Night Deaky." He whispered.

"Goodnight. Roger." I whispered back.

We spent a couple of seconds glancing at each other lips. I thought maybe we were going to kiss for a moment...
