Half-Breed

Ginger was reluctant to change the subject and her next question lingered on her tongue, but the look Eve gave her told her she wouldn't succeed, so she stood up. Pushing her hands into her pocket, she followed Eve as the headmistress rounded her desk in search of more papers. "I applied for a single room."

Eve nodded, giving Ginger a sympathetic smile. "Of course, however the scholarship you initially applied for does not provide enough funding for a single room."

Wait, what? She needed her own room. No way could she sleep in the same room with a Sup and not try to kill them. God, what would Lucca think if he found out? "Wh-what about the benefactor, the one that insisted I get in? Can't you put in my request with him or her?"

Eve shook her head while fishing out papers from her drawers. Ginger felt the panic rise in her throat and the full severity of the situation came crashing down. She had applied for a scholarship. Of course funding would be an issue for a single room, and the mysterious benefactor who'd spoken for her wouldn't have foreseen this to be a problem. She wouldn't be able to sleep with a monster next to her, but the real question is could she allow the monster to live?

Ginger eyed the silver needle. For as long as she could remember she'd hated needles. Maybe it was the smell of the rubber tourniquet, it definitely wasn't the alcohol swab... it could be that she felt the needle slide in, felt the blood draining from her.

A male nurse with fluffy brown hair, hazel eyes, and a happy-go-lucky grin hovered over her with it. He was playing on her fear. She knew he was doing it on purpose when he waved the tool in her face, pulled it back, and did it again. He was probably one of those creatures that ate fear for lunch. A vampire...

"Don't take enough to sample either," she said in warning. "I'm not food!"

His carefree smile never left, but widened, showing stark white teeth. "I'm not a vampire, sweetheart."

Now she was stumped. She had no clue what he was. Two creatures Ginger wasn't familiar with in one day was just too much to handle. He definitely wasn't werewolf. He was too dainty for that. If he'd had longer hair she could've mistaken him for a female. He definitely had the build of a female. Witches reeked of sulfur, but he smelled like cotton candy. So not a witch either.

A silent scream lodged in Ginger's throat as she felt a quick squeeze delivered to her right breast. Her lips parted with shock as she watched the nurse pull away with a smirk. The tips of his fingers seemed to imprint on her flesh. He didn't give her the time to complain as he pulled at her arm. He wrapped the rubber tourniquet above her elbow, tying it tighter than it should be. He didn't even ask if it was too tight. The sharp smell of the alcohol swab burned her nose as he clumsily scrubbed it over her.

It was a swift, sharp sting that continued to burn as he sucked her blood into the tube. Her stomach rolled and she turned her face away. Why this, of all things, bothered her after everything she'd already done was beyond her. She had cut Sup's apart and not batted an eye, but seeing her own blood get slurped into an off-white tube and feeling the sting of the needle made her want to vomit. If the headmistress hadn't insisted this as 'formal procedure' Ginger would have opted out.

"If you're not a vampire, then what are you?" Ginger said through clenched teeth.

"What are you?" He countered.

"Human."

"Is that the lie you're telling yourself? I'm here to burst your bubble, sweetheart. You are not human. Never were human. I've been around for a long time so I know at least that much, but I don't know exactly what you are either," he said and leaned forward to sniff her exposed skin where he was taking her blood.

"I'm just going through puberty," she said, a growl hitching in her throat.

He pulled back, a smirk settling on his lips as he withdrew the needle and deposited it in the Hazardous waste bin. He tore off his lavender colored latex gloves and used his finger to swipe at the residual blood on her arm. Popping the tip into his mouth, he eyed her as he made a gaudy show of sucking the blood.

Ginger rolled her eyes as her mouth curled in a snarl. "I said I'm not food."

"I was just testing. I haven't had Succubus--well half Succubus--blood in fifty years. Not since they left this realm anyway," he said. "Eve will still require it be tested, of course but, since you already identify yourself as human, being treated like one shouldn't be an issue, yes?"

He leaned down and tucked her red hair behind her ear so he could whisper into it. Ginger wouldn't give him the satisfaction of jerking away even though he made her skin crawl. "You're on the edge, baby, but you'll just have to find out by yourself won't you love?" This time when he reached for her breast he didn't try to hide his intentions. "I'll be willing to help you through it. The sooner we start the better. Tonight if you'd like."

She refrained from clawing at his hand as he continued to feel her up. Her chin lifted as she smacked his groping hand away. "I don't think so."

That was when his pseudo 'I'm a good guy' smile dropped. Ginger saw the evil and promise of retaliation on his face as he eyed her. She knew in that moment that this bastard would be dickless number one. And he would be. Dickless. She would cut it off when he was alive so he could feel himself become emasculated. Ginger didn't relish in the torturing of Sup's, but she had a feeling this man deserved it. Hael and Lyssa officially dropped down the list.

"It's gonna be painful. Once they find out what you are, they'll pass you around anyway. Sex with a Succubus, even a disgusting half-breed like you, is like trying to find a unicorn. And what your blood can do for a vampire is nothing short of a miracle."

Ginger didn't say anything as stood and walked towards the door, hoping Eve was on the other side because if she wasn't Ginger was going to kill this guy now.

"You already went through your first transition. The second one isn't going to be so easy and no one will know until it's happening," he spat before Ginger opened the door. "When you're in pain, crying on the floor, remember what I offered!"

Ginger slammed the door on his last word and searched for Eve. When she saw the hawk-eyed woman Ginger wasn't sure if she should cheer or not. She glanced down at her shaking hands and curled her fingers into her palms.

Eve had said they'd be taking Ginger to her room but after Nurse Crazy, the woman had decided on a long tour of the school. It didn't bode well for the other attendees either, though they didn't know yet. Ginger was slowly making her selection, or rather, her mental list. She couldn't start off right away of course, she'd need to gain trust and even make pseudo-friends.

It was something she knew had to be done, but it made her stomach burn. Every time 'friends' crossed her mind she felt sick. How could she be friends with a monster? That's like asking a spider not to eat the friendly, but diseased fly. It would never happen and most would think that the spider in that scenario was the Sup, well it wasn't. Arachnids were very important. They got rid of pests like flies and gnats, so clearly Ginger was the spider.

So far she had her number one for sure, but the more she heard about the two wolves she'd met this morning the more they inched to the top of her list, until finally winning two slots in the top five.

What was the deciding factor?

Well, apparently Lyssa was promised at a young age to Hael's best friend Quinn, who was in love with Lyssa, but Hael and Lyssa were, and have been, meeting each other for a sexual rendezvous every night behind his back. This wouldn't be so bad if Lyssa hadn't been in a relationship with Quinn the entire time. So basically Lyssa and Quinn were together in the day, but Lyssa spent her nights with Hael. Quinn had to know. He couldn't be that stupid but, according to a beak-nosed werewolf, he was.

Ginger acquired even more information at a lunch she'd been forced to join. In a matter of five minutes, from a chatty human female named Trinity, who appeared to be a servant to Claude, the made vampire. Ginger was certain these two would inevitably be Ginger's information source. Well, at least Trinity would. Claude only seemed to be indulging his human slave. Trinity had given Ginger so much that the poor girl and vamp hadn't, and would probably never, realize their mistake. Ginger made a mental note that Claude and Trinity weren't to be killed just yet, maybe not even at all if they were the good Sups.

So what it came down to with Lyssa and Hael: it was one thing to be a Sup, but a cheating Sup? And on his best friend no less? Come on. What a bunch of losers! Now, if she could just decide which one deserved to be first!

Great, a murderer with morals, she thought to herself. How does that work?

Of course, technically cheating wasn't an evil to end all evils, but still... Lucca would never cheat on her. She was sure of it and once he came to understand how much she loved him, what she did for him, he would never even think about cheating. That's just the type of guy he was. Sexy, smart, funny, at least from what she could hear of his conversations, and loyal to a fault, so what more could she want?

After the conversation and polishing off the turkey sandwich with sweet pickles her current company had scowled at, Ginger was escorted to her dorm room.

"This is will be your room," Eve said, holding the door open as Ginger walked in.

Ginger paused at the black haired girl with dark-ish, almost grey colored skin bent over a book in the corner of the room. The petite girl glanced up and offered a smile before she leaped up off her window chair and bounced towards Ginger.

"Ah yes, Trina," Eve said, stumbling backwards a little. "Gargoyles are so energetic. Takes a lot out of me being around one, but I'm sure you two will bond wonderfully!"

A Gargoyle, a fucking Gargoyle, was Ginger's roommate.

She hadn't even known they were real. And what exactly did a Gargoyle do? For the first time in her life Ginger wished she hadn't passed up on a that Disney movie with the hunchback. At least if she had watched it she would have had some idea.

As it stood, all Ginger knew about them was that they were ugly ass decorations on even creepier buildings, like this school.
