55. You're Excused

"What is this all about?" asked a grumpy Mrs. Kim.

The record executive shrugged his shoulders as he looked down at his wristwatch. Yoongi had asked that he get Mr. and Mrs. Kim to meet in the conference room at eleven o'clock sharp. Mrs. Kim was annoyed since she supposed to be meeting with her lawyers soon. Ever since the upsetting call she had gotten the other day, she had planned to get ahead of the curb. She didn't need any sort of scandal to taint her. Just when she was about to let out her ninety ninth sigh of the hour, her husband reached over to put his hand over hers as Yoongi pushed in through the door, not a second too late and with a cat in his arms.

Yoongi gave the record executive a nod of his head as he took a seat at the table, adjusting the tie that he had put on once he put the cat down gently on top of the table. Even though he was no longer going to be an employee in another two weeks, he still wanted to keep up a good appearance especially now. Mrs. Kim narrowed her eyes at what she deemed to be a filthy looking feline. She never knew that Yoongi was such a cat person.

"Why is your pet on the table?"

Yoongi hadn't even had a chance to talk yet and he was already getting irritated by Mrs. Kim. He told himself that he had to keep his composure for now though because he was about to drop a bomb on her soon that would hopefully take care of her for good. Yoongles - who didn't appreciate how Mrs. Kim was talking to him - turned his head to look at her, letting out a hiss. Yoongi had to turn his head aside to keep the smirk off his face.

"Come here," said Yoongi gently as he moved to scoop Yoongles up and onto his lap.

"You called us all here for some sort of emergency meeting?" asked the record executive, trying to bring the conversation back around to the topic at hand.

"Yes. As you all know by now, I will be leaving the company within two weeks to take up my own business," started Yoongi.

"And we're very sad to see you leave," interrupted the record executive.

"I would like to make Jungkook and Taehyung my clients," said Yoongi. "I would produce them and would handle everything going forward for them."

"Absolutely not!" snapped Mrs. Kim as Yoongi and the record executive looked at her. "I'm not about to have my sons managed by some newbie that doesn't know what the heck he is doing!"

"Settle down, love," said Mr. Kim as he placed a hand on her back. "They are under a binding contract."

"That's right," said the record executive as he looked at Yoongi, "And where their parents are managing them, you'd have to get their approval to get them out of the contract, especially where both men you're talking about are currently in a coma."

"I figured that would be the case," said Yoongi, "Which is why I invited another person to join in this discussion."

All four heads turned to look at the conference room door as it opened again. Hobi stepped inside and moved to take a seat on Yoongi's left. Mrs. Kim turned her venomous gaze onto Hobi as he sat there; Hobi looking at Yoongi instead of at her.

"Jung Hoseok here has been a member of this label since Taehyung was signed and he - along with Park Jimin - have been responsible for helping him with each and every one of his albums. Is that correct?" asked Yoongi.

"Well, yes. They are Taehyung's creative team," said the record executive. "I'm not sure where you're going with this Yoongi."

"I'm bringing it up because Hoseok and Jimin would also like to be produced by me," said Yoongi. "They would like to stop being background players in your orchestra."

"Yoongi, why are you taking my talent?" asked the record executive with a frown.

"The only one you have to blame where that is concerned is those two at the end of the table," said Yoongi.

"Well I never!" gasped Mrs. Kim. "That's a lot coming from a person who wasn't able to do his job properly like he was supposed to."

Yoongi tuned Mrs. Kim out instead of coming up with any other sort of retaliation. He instead focused his attention on the record executive. It was him that would be the one he'd have to convince.

"Hoseok and Jimin have already promised to continue helping Taehyung and now Jungkook to make music. If you care about the success of your artists at all, you will allow them to sign with me. I'd be willing to have a new contract drawn up where there could be a joint profit between my new company and yours with the stipulation that Mr. and Mrs. Kim are not involved whatsoever."

The record executive looked from Yoongi to Mr. and Mrs. Kim. If he was honest with himself, he had always found them to be overbearing too, but hadn't known how to get them off his back. Maybe this was the opportunity that he had always been waiting for.

"We shouldn't be making this decision on behalf of Jungkook or Taehyung. Since both are currently incapacitated, their parents will have to speak for them," said the record executive.

"I understand," said Yoongi, "That is unless they too were incapacitated, correct? Then it would be up to the judgment of the company at that point."

"True, but they don't seem like they will be that way at any point."

"Are you threatening me?" asked Mrs. Kim.

"No madame. I'm not," said Yoongi.

The door to the conference room opened then. Jimin entered with Mrs. Jeon and another man that Mrs. Kim didn't recognize though she could see that he was a police officer based on the uniform. Yoongi shifted a hand to slip it into his pocket, putting his cell phone on the table. He didn't say anything as he unlocked his phone and looked over at Jimin, Mrs. Jeon, and the officer.

"Mrs. Jeon here is Jungkook's adoptive mother," said Yoongi. "Jimin brought her here so she could speak on behalf of Jungkook. As for the Kims and their approval, I'm sure it'll be cleared up when this is played."

Yoongi didn't give Mrs. Kim a chance to say anything or make a guess as to what he was talking about before pressing 'play' on the recording.

"...When I hired you, I only wanted you to get a message across, that was it. I didn't ask you to potentially commit murder...You're a murderer and you deserve to be held responsible and don't you dare try to insinuate that I am going down with you. I will not be doing any such thing. I have good lawyers."

After the brief recording had finished playing, the room was completely silent. Eventually Mr. Kim broke the silence as he looked over at his shell-shocked wife.

"Is that true? Did you hire the person that hit Taehyung and Jungkook?"

"I...no, it's not what you think..." sputtered Mrs. Kim as an uneasy laugh took over her as the officer that had been standing by Mrs. Jeon and Jimin came to walk over to her; the metallic click of his handcuffs echoing out throughout the room.

"Stand up. You're under arrest," said the officer as he put a hand on Mrs. Kim's arm, guiding her to her feet before putting her arms behind her back.

"You can't possibly think that I would do something like that!" cried out Mrs. Kim.

"The proof is in the recording," said Yoongi, "And I'm more than willing to let the officer take my phone so he can have the recording analyzed to prove that it wasn't tampered with at all."

Mrs. Kim was led towards the door by the officer, who stopped near Yoongi to take the phone for evidence. While he did, Mrs. Kim glared daggers at Yoongi. She opened her mouth to say something when Yoongles got up from where he was on Yoongi's lap. He hopped back onto the top of the table and raised his back as he hissed at Mrs. Kim, seeming to practically dare her to touch even one hair on Yoongi's head.

"You're excused," said Yoongi. "We can handle the rest of the conversation from here."

Everyone assembled was silent as they watched a fuming Mrs. Kim be led away in handcuffs. When the door slapped shut behind her and silence reigned once more, Yoongi turned his attention back to those gathered in the room.

"Shall we talk about a new contract now?" asked Yoongi.
