27. New Plans
Jimin sat in the back of an Uber as he stared off into space. The talk with the label had gone exactly the way he thought it would. The three of them were being pressured by the label to adhere to the deadline that had been set. Apparently the label - and Taehyung's parents - weren't happy with the snail like process, and expected them to get the new record ready for approval within the next week. Taehyung's parents also expected the three of them to be present for dinner tomorrow night to discuss the lack of progress. With what Jimin now knew about Taehyung and his newfound situation though, he couldn't help but to be nervous. Taehyung had a hard enough time dealing with his own parents. How was Jungkook supposed to deal with it?
All these worries went to the back of his mind as the Uber pulled up outside a fish restaurant. He furrowed his brows as he looked at the address that Hobi had texted to him.
"Are you sure this is the right place?" asked Jimin, repeating the address to the driver.
"I'm positive," he said. "Now are you getting out or continuing your ride?"
Jimin grumbled under his breath as he dug money out of his pocket to pay the driver before slipping out of the car. There didn't seem to be anyone in the immediate vicinity except for a few patrons that were leaving the fish restaurant. Just as Jimin was digging out his phone to text Hobi, he saw him coming out of an alley with Taehyung and Jungkook in tow. Leading the trio was a man with dimples on full display for him to see.
Before he could greet them though, he noticed them freeze as a woman that had just exited the restaurant approached Taehyung in Jungkook's body. She moved to slip her purchase onto her wrist as she approached Taehyung, cupping his face in her hands.
"Oh it has been so long since I've seen you. I have been so worried about you! I couldn't get you off my mind, so I decided to go out today to my favorite fish restaurant and here you are! This fish restaurant never fails in bringing me good luck, especially when it comes to you."
"I'm sorry to not have contacted in a while, but I'm fine," said Taehyung as he tried to mask his shock.
"I'm surprised to see you," she continued. "Aren't you supposed to be at work right now? You weren't fired, were you?"
"No...I'm on leave because I was in an accident..."
"AN ACCIDENT?!"
The concern in her voice rose several decibels as she released his face in shock as if he had just admitted to a crime.
"Why didn't you tell me about the accident? Why didn't Laylin? Wait...you and Laylin are still living together, aren't you?"
Taehyung just nodded his head. The steady stream of questions was enough to throw his already overwhelmed mind for a loop. As he looked away from the woman, he noticed Jimin standing there just as equally surprised by the situation. He sent Jimin an 'SOS' look with his eyes since he was the only one behind the woman that was able to see it. Jimin caught the look, coming over to them.
"Sorry to interrupt. Jungkook and I have to go talk. Do you mind if I steal him?" asked Jimin as he came over and tossed an arm over Taehyung's shoulders.
"Not at all...but who are you, dear?"
"I'm one of his friends," said Jimin with a smile.
"You made some new friends here after all! You weren't lying to your mom on the phone then!"
Taehyung could hear Jungkook mumbling behind him, and Taehyung had to do the best he could to hide his smirk.
"Of course, Mom. I'm fine. Really. We'll have to catch up sometime."
"Now that I know you were in an accident that you didn't bother to tell me about, we definitely will have to."
She paused for a moment before her face lit up as an idea suddenly came to her.
"You know what...why don't you and Laylin come over to spend the night tomorrow? Like you did when you were kids? I'll cook your favorite dishes and we can catch up."
"I um..."
Taehyung felt himself getting nudged from behind, so he was quick to nod his head.
"Sure. I'll see if Laylin can get the time off to come with me," said Taehyung.
"Wonderful!"
She moved to gingerly hug Taheuyng before pulling back, treating him now like he was breakable since had told her he'd been in an accident.
"Please be careful my beautiful golden miracle," she said as she looked at him. "I'll see you both tomorrow. I look forward to it!"
"A-alright. Thanks."
Taehyung watched as the woman walked off then, giving him one last wave. As soon as she disappeared into a nearby car and drove off, Taehyung turned to look at Jungkook who was still standing behind him.
"Your mother seems nice."
Taehyung could tell that Jungkook's face was flushed by the comment.
"She is nice, but I will have to warn you about a few things when it comes to her," said Jungkook.
"Well I'm sure Taehyung is going to have to warn you about a few things too," spoke up Jimin, interrupting Jungkook before he could continue. "His parents are ordering their son to come to dinner tomorrow night with Hobi and I to discuss why his latest album is stalling out."
"Wonderful," said Taehyung as he brought a hand to his forehead. So much for them being able to stay together and make it through all of this.
That was the thing about plans though. They always had a way of changing.
Seokjin came out of the restaurant with the takeout packaged, looking at the group that looked as if their minds were blown.
"I feel like I missed something," said Seokjin.
"Who are you?" asked Jimin.
Seokjin made sure the door to the fish restaurant was shut before looking at Namjoon and then Jimin.
"My name is Kim Seokjin. I'm the psychic."
"Of course you are. Wonderful taste in psychics, Hobi," muttered Jimin as he slapped a hand to his forehead.

Laylin was lying on the couch with her eyes looking at the ceiling in the apartment. She had managed to make it through her shift and was now spending the early afternoon hours trying to digest everything she had learned. As she laid there, she thought she heard rustling in the stairwell outside the apartment. Propping herself up onto her elbows, she soon heard a knock at the door. Getting up, she made her way over to the door and looked through the peephole into the hallway. The person standing on the other side gave her a familiar smile, holding up a bag of takeout food. It looked like it came from some sort of fish restaurant. She unlocked the door to look at him.
"Let me guess. Jungkook sent you."
"He did," said Taehyung as he brought the takeout bag down.
"And you coming bearing gifts - especially gifts involving food - means that you need something," continued Laylin.
"We do," said Taehyung with a chuckle. "Jungkook isn't lying when he says you're perceptive."
"Speaking of him, where is he?"
"In the park nearby. He told me he'd wait there to hear about how the conversation went. He was going to come with me, but he didn't want to upset you."
Laylin sighed as she looked at Taehyung standing before her. She had the entire day to think about everything that she had learned. She had the entire day to adjust to the fact that her favorite person was trapped in the body of her favorite idol. Jungkook had made sure that he had comforted her even when he had been hiding the truth though. He had never once left her. He had still always been there, so she had to do the same for him now.
"Come in and get settled with the food. I'll be right back. I'm going to go get him."
Taehyung smiled at her, nodding his head. She toed her shoes on, moving down the stairs to go outside. It only took her a minute or two to reach the park where Jungkook was waiting. She spotted him by the fountain with a beanie and mask on; his hands tucked into his pockets as he watched the water spraying out of the fountain in a fine mist. He had his back to her as she approached, not seeming to notice that she was there. When she made it over to him, she gently placed a hand on his shoulder. Feeling the presence of her hand, he turned to look at her. Their eyes locked as they just stared at each other for a moment.
"You don't need to do this anymore," she said softly. "Come up to the apartment and come home for a while."
"You're sure?"
She nodded. She held out a hand towards him that Jungkook gently took into his own.
"You never left me, so I'm not about to do that to you," she said. "Lets go back to the apartment and have some food and talk about whatever it is you two need my help with."
Jungkook's hand closed about hers as he smiled behind his mask, nodding his head. As he walked with Laylin back to their apartment, he found himself feeling normal for the first time since the switch happened.
