When you tell them they are in the newspaper
Sorry for slow updates. This is a book I usually only update when I have a request or if I have a very good idea. (Or if I simply feel awful for not having updated...)
I rewatched that scene where Arnold is at the barber with his lawyer, talking about the Black Sox Scandal in the newspaper, so that's how I came up with this idea.
Nucky:
He's almost always in the paper so when you bring it up, he will just hum since this is a very normal thing for him and he never finds them interesting anyway. Only if there is something weird or interesting will he give it a quick look to make sure everything with his business is still okay.
Eli:
When he was sheriff, he would get into the newspaper a few times. When it's a good reason, he would be proud and cut it out, showing it off to you. When it's a bad or embarrassing thing, he is quick to snatch it out your hands, telling you not to read such nonsense.
Margaret:
When you told her she's in the newspaper, she was very confused, wondering how she could have possibly gotten into the newspapers, only to groan when you told her it's about her and Nucky Thomspon. She was quick to snatch the paper and throw it in the trash, telling you it's just gossips and how that was all in the past.
Jimmy:
When you show it, telling him he's in the paper, he just shrugged and said he doesn't care. He didn't bother reading it, he only did while he was waiting for dinner to be ready.
Gillian:
She will gasp and excitedly ask you where. She read it many times. When you told her you kind of wish to continue reading what's going on in the world, she apologized with a chuckle before handing the paper back to you, apologizing. When you were finished, she took the paper and showed it off to a few people.
Richard:
He will groan, not wanting any attention, feeling embarrassed. When you tried to comfort him by saying it's a small article with no picture so everyone will just skip over it, he forced a little smile, mumbling he hopes so.
Mickey:
When you told him he's in the paper, he perked up, asking really, as if not believing you that he's really in the paper. When you showed it, he was a bit sad to see Nucky was the main focus but he was also happy to be in the paper, even if he isn't the main focus.
Arnold:
He was in the news for the Black Sox Scandal for a long time and he hated it, so you weren't allowed to bring it up or he would get annoyed and be in a bad mood for the rest of the day. He thought of stopping reading the paper since he was getting very tired of reading about that damn fixing every time he opens the paper, but he knew that wasn't wise so he kept reading the newspaper each morning, knowing something else important can be in there that he might need to know.
Chalky:
When you awkwardly told him he's in the paper, he already knew what to expect. He took the paper and was correct as to what to expect; a very racist article. He just rolled his eyes, already used to all that racism before he handed it back to you, saying he doesn't need to read such nonsense.
Nelson:
When you told him, he was quick to hurry over, asking you what it says, growing paranoid that it will reveal something terrible he really wishes to keep a secret. When he saw it wasn't and just about the selling company he worked at, he let out a relieved sigh and told you that's good before he went back to what he was doing.
Al:
You were the one who spot that his name was written wrong because he was too busy bragging about being in the newspaper, only to freeze when you tapped his name on the paper and said it's written wrong, which made him quickly hold the paper closely to his face to see if it's correct or wrong. When he saw it was written wrong, he was quick to go from bragging to complaining, asking which idiot wrote this. When you told him the name of the person who wrote it, he smiled and said he will have to go and pay them a visit then and teach them how to write his name correctly.
Charlie:
He will ask you what you are talking about before looking at the papers in your hands, reading it before telling you he's gonna go for a sec. He called Meyer just to make sure everything is okay and him in the newspaper won't ruin or interfere with the business.
Meyer:
He will immediately hold his hand to you, asking you to give it to him before he hurriedly reads it, hoping this won't damage the business. When he saw it was just a small, silly article most people would just skip over, he let out a relieved sigh and handed it back to you.
Benny: (For if you don't know, the real Benny Siegel HATED the name Bugsy and would threaten anyone who called him that.)
He will get very excited, asking you what it says. When he read he was referred to as "Bugsy", he angrily asked who the fuck wrote this and threatened to kill them.
Gyp:
He will smirk, telling you to read it out to him since you have such a lovely voice. If it's good, he will laugh and brag about it. If it's bad, he will angrily ask what that means, angrily asking who the person is that wrote that.
