{two}~Nice to Meet You
{two}
THE NEXT DAY the familiar five girls all got ready the same way they've done since they've arrived at Miss Sarah's School for Young Ladies. Everything was the same except for the nagging thought in the back of Alosia's mind: who knows what some primal, animalistic, teenage boy has done on this bed?
This was the day that they were all going to officially start classes. Alosia looked at the bed across from hers, it was neatly made as if there wasn't someone thrashing about it all night. Her roommate was gone. The girl sighed as she sat her lotion down gently on her nightstand so she could pull up her stockings.
She stood up so that she could pull down her dress. Now that she felt the fabric it made her discourage herself from wearing the material. This school has never seen a female face, never mind her legs, what would all of these boys do? Or maybe she's overreacting?
The girl pushed her thoughts away as she pushed back her hair. She can feel the oil spray she used between her fingers. Alosia has straightened her hair the night before, a silk press actually. Her mane of curls were no more, until football when she'd sweat it out.
"Millie, Alosia, are you decent?" A male voice was heard from outside the door. It startled the girl as she wouldn't know who was trying to summon her or why. If it were one of the girls they would simply barge in, like they do everyday. Seems as if someone beat them to it.
She tugged at her jacket and let her warm feet pad against the cool carpet until she got to the door, pulling it open.
The boy gasped out of surprise, "oh, hello." A boy with dark skin that matched hers. His skin looked more awake and brighter which complimented his yellow sweater.
"Alosia," the girl spoke which a hand upon her chest, "Millie is already gone, and you are?"
"Chosen Jacobs, I'm here for greeting committee of Carter Prep." The girl smiled and noticed a door behind him open, Amber and Cara peeked their heads out of the door.
"How nice of you, come in I'm just finishing up," She beckoned the boy in and he stood awkwardly in the center of the room as she sat on the bed, "What is it that the greeting committee do?" She asked as she slipped on her wedged boots, zipping up the first one.
The boy cleared his throat and spoke calmly, "we go around, and, well, greet the new students. To show it's not so bad here."
She flashed her shiny teeth at him and crossed her legs with her hands fiddling with her other shoe on the elevated foot, "that is so sweet, thank you for that, Chosen."
The boy chuckled nervously and nodded, "I'll, uh, leave you to finish, goodbye, Alosia." He said before glancing at a sheet of paper in his hand. He left and four others walked in.
"He's cute, super nice about everything." Alexanderia said as she walked into the room she sat down on the bed belonging to her best friend and began picking at the strings on he ripped jeans.
"Yeah, he didn't even want to sit down when he came into my our room." Marta spoke, gesturing towards herself and Alexanderia.
"Meaning he's not your speed, Lo." Amber spoke as she looked towards the girl stunting jewelry almost all over. From her ears to her neck, down to the anklet that studded her leg. Alosia Jules was a sparkling goddess.
"Never said he was." She spoke simply with a shrug taking over her shoulders.
"You have a tendency of being a bad influence," Marta spoke from the wall closest to the door, "and that's okay if you're us, you're meant to be our bad influence; make us live a little." She gestured to he best friends that scattered the room.
"Yeah, but others don't get you." Cara interrupted the Indian princess who looked to be a stunning royal herself. They all glowed as if they were the almighty, they couldn't be harmed. Like King Midas they seemed to have a similar golden touch. They were that important.
"Duh, I don't expect to be gotten, I just want to have fun for a bit." Alosia grabbed her room key, stuffing it in her bra. The girls followed close behind her as she walked down the halls of Carter Prep. Their day had officially began and they took it head on.
Until lunch.
The five girls basked in the late August sun at their lunch table outside. They watched as some kids conversed and other moved about, across the way Alosia spotted two things that left her dumbfounded: A girl eating only an avocado and then a boy staring at her.
The boy was familiar someone from yesterday day, and his friends; they sat and stared at the girls from that far away distance. No one dare spoke and the girls kept their calm, cool, collected, and dapper fasçade as one of the boys got up and stalked over towards them.
"Oh god, he's coming over here." Cara said, her usual shy persona. Alosia had no clue as to what to do, so she winged it, like most things she did. With that the girls sat there with no emotion as he was about three feet away.
Lo muttered a, "stay cool," before the boy sat down next to Alosia herself. The girl simply stirred her cup of sweet tea with her straw and then took a sip, the boy watching.
She recognized the boy and his friends as they were the ones who fell threw the headmaster's door just the day prior, "Hey." He spoke.
"Hello." Alosia's voice was sultry along with the rest of her. Maybe this dress was a bad idea, she thought to herself.
"You having fun here, ya know, minus the actual school part?" He asked, she knew the curly-haired boy as a star athlete. His group was considered famous amongst the students, here's how they worked:
Jaeden Lieberher: everyone knew him as the quiet one in the back of the class. That's only if you didn't know him, no one messed with him because of the circle he was in. He seemed to casually ride a skateboard whilst traveling along with him friends.
Jack Grazer: He was the most energetic out of the group of boys. He bounced off the walls like the Tasmanian Devil. He also seemed to do wild tricks on a skateboard, they don't always workout so well.
Noah Schnapp: He was the smallest, attractive though. Alosia had study hall with him, he was nice. Very nice. He wasn't afraid to make friends as he came up to me in study hall and started a conversation, but it seemed as he knew who and who not to talk to as there was a giant brute sitting across the way and he avoided to get to me.
Caleb McLaughlin: He was the only one of the group who seemed to exercise his talents wherever he was. For example Lo saw him dancing around the halls once, he hums a lot in our science class, and he's on the basketball team— he's good.
Finn Wolfhard: He seemed to be a name to be constantly heard. Yes, he's walked the girl to her dormitory, but they were in a group. She's been catching him looking at her an awful lot. He never stopped moving, and when he did he was watching someone or trying to think of something to do. Well, no, she has seen him lying under a tree in the far off field of the school, sometimes he brings at least one of his friends there.
Yet their conversation still continued with Finn asking, "Hey, don't you talk, why are you so quiet, you were talking to me before?" He must have been referring to the conversation they had whilst traveling to Dylan's Hall.
"You sure do talk a lot, huh?" The other four just watched their exchange of words. Cara secretly prayed he would leave as Amber thought of how close he was sitting next to her. Alexanderia kept glancing at his friends and thinking if any of them were taken. Marta simply thought that he liked Alosia, but hey, maybe it was just her.
"Well, yeah, quiet is boring. You still haven't answered any of my questions." He egged on as he watched her smile just a bit which made him grin with his heart heavy. He survived on his ways to impress the unimpressable. If that was even a word.
"Yes, I talk, and I'm not quiet, I'm just..." She didn't want to tell him to piss off, but she didn't want him here, not now. Not yet.
"You just..." the boy egged on her words. She looked at him and noticed how his freckles moved from his nose to his cheeks and even upon his brow bone a bit. He was cute.
"Why are you so interested in me?" She asked him. His face turned heavy and into stone. He didn't know why he wanted to look at her so much, not that he doesn't always look at everybody, but he felt...competition in her. Like she would be an extravagant foe.
"Don't flatter yourself, this is the first time any girl has stepped foot on Carter grounds, every boy is interested in you— all one hundred of you." He got up and walked away with Marta and Amber's jaws hanging. He glanced at the girls and walked back to his table, they continued their staring contest.
She thought about it. Was she just another one of the hundred girls that attended this school?
Meanwhile, Finn regretted everything he said, but would never admit it, not in a million years. She was different so why couldn't he just tell her that? Why not say: 'let's be friends' instead of 'you're not shit'?
Alosia was different.
