Bakugou pov
I just want this stupid week to be over! This damn internship isn't doing anything for me! There's no crime happening! I mean, I guess that's kind of a good thing, but still. It makes my life boring. I just-
My phone dings.
Weird. I always keep it on do not disturb when I'm at school. This is sort of the equivalent right now. The only acception I set is when I get a text from (C/n).
I glance up to make sure the Jean Man isn't looking at me and take out my phone real quick. All it is is a map with his location and a voice recording. I click to listen to the recording and hold my phone up to my ear.
"Kat. . . su. . . come. . . quick. . . Please. . ." I almost drop my phone. He sounded breathless. Not in a good way.
I go up to the Jean Man, my breathing has gotten strange and my palms are so sweaty I have to constantly wipe them on my pants so I don't cause a huge explosion. "I have to go!" My voice is shakey.
Jeanist turns around. "What could possibly be more important than patrolling so much so that you have to leave in the middle of it?"
"I just. . . I have to go." I turn and start running. To my surprise, he didn't try to stop me. I pull up the location on my phone and get there as fast as I can. I can't use my quirk because I'm sweating too much.
When I get there, (C/n) is laying face down on the pavement. I run over to him, kneeling down. He doesn't look like he's breathing all too well. I sit down all the way so that I pull his head into my lap.
"Wake up dammit! Wake up! DAMMIT!!!" I lower my head. I hadn't realized that I was actually crying. He does things like that to me. Makes me do things I never do. Makes me better.
Which is exactly why I can't lose him.
Ever.
I check his body for wounds. They're all over, but I can't even see most of them clearly because of the tears swelling in my eyes, making my vision blurry.
"Dammit! DAMMIT!!" I don't even know if it's safe to pick him up. "Come on, (C/n)! Please! Don't do this to me! We. . . There's still so much to do! Baby, please don't leave me! Saturday is movie night at my place! The whole squad will be there! It's your choice! You can make us all watch a movie that we don't want to watch and you honestly don't either, but you can enjoy watching the rest of us suffer because it's such a bad movie and. . . And we can cuddle on the couch! My hair will be back to normal so you can play with it the way you love to! Please! Just wake up! I'm begging you! Baby, please! I can't lose you! I can't. . . Lose, you. . . " I pull him closer and cry harder. If I pick him up, that could just hurt him more. It could kill him. This just. . . it can't be happening. It must be a dream. A very, very bad dream. It has to be!
I hear footsteps entering the alleyway. Looking up, I'm half expecting to see the bastards that did this. But it's Jeanist. His eyes are wide with what I'm guessing is shock.
"Please. . . I don't know if it's safe to lift him. . . you have to help him. . ." I almost whisper.
He nods and makes a platform with his quirk. It's structured in a way that it's safe to put (C/n) on and won't cause him to move too much out of his current position.
We lift him onto the platform and make our way to the hospital as fast as possible. They take him into a room, but we have to stay outside while they work with him. I had to fill out a medical form since I'm the only one that knows what to put down. I actually feel really guilty when I have to put down female for the sex. I was able to out down male for the gender, but they have to know what his body looked like and that he was taking testosterone shots.
Luckily, he wasn't wearing his binder when this happened. He was taking a break because he went over his limit two days in a row, so I made him just wear a bunch of baggy layers.
"Bakugou. . ." Best Jeanist starts. I look at him, still bouncing my knee. "I didn't know you had a soft spot for anyone."
"I'm not soft for him! I just. . . I love him." I look back down at the floor in between my legs.
"It's okay to be soft for someone. It means you have empathy and love, very heroic traits."
"Tch, whatever. I just want him to be okay. . ." I direct my eyes toward the hallway they took him into.
The hero is silent after that. I'm not even sure why he stayed to begin with, I'm sure he has much better things to do. Then again, there wasn't much happening out there in the city.
After a few hours of pure anxiety, a nurse comes out and tells us that he's awake, but slipping in and out of consciousness. She also said that he's pretty tired and out of it.
But as soon as she says we can go in and see him, that's when I run to the room. I stop at the doorway, looking in at his still body. He was connected to all sorts of machines. I walk in with slowly, but with urgency.
"(C/n)!" I sit in the stool next to his bed and take his hand in mine. My grip was firm and tight, but he could easily pull away if he wanted to and it wouldn't hurt him.
"Who. . . Who are you. . . ?" His voice is something just short of a whisper.
Please say you haven't forgotten me. . .
"It's... It's me. It's Katsuki. You remember me, right. . . ? You always call me Katsu. I'm your boyfriend." A single tear falls down my cheek.
"Katsu. . . ?" He asks slowly. I nod. "The hell happened to your hair. . . ?" He reaches up to touch my hair that's been changed by Best Jeanist.
I sigh, relieved that he remembers and chuckle a bit, bringing his arm back down. "Yeah. . . don't mind that. It'll be fixed in no time. Back to the way you like it. I just gotta live with this for the rest of this week during my internship. It'll be over with by the end of the week, alright? I promise. Then we can cuddle on the couch watching bad movies and you can play with it again. Okay?"
His eyes are starting to close again. He's smiling as he begins to fall asleep again. "Yeah. . . Okay. . ."
I stay with him even after he falls asleep. He doesn't wake up again until after I'm forced to leave. I kiss him on the forehead and walk out, looking behind me one last time. "I'll come back tomorrow, baby. I love you." I whisper. Maybe Jeanist was right. Maybe I do have a soft spot for (C/n). But in all honesty, I'm okay with that. He does crazy things to me.
I'm not able to sleep that night. I never thought that something would happen to him during the internships. Where was his supervisor when all this happened? They were supposed to be there.
Best Jeanist pov
((For some reason, I laughed when I wrote that))
Bakugou was impossible to handle. I figured, perhaps the best choice of action was to take him out on patrol. I was talking to a young fan and signing a notebook of his when Bakugou tapped me on the arm. He spoke before I even had the chance to turn around.
"I have to go!" His voice sounds shakey and frightened.
I turn around so that I can see him. His eyes look wide and he looks awfully distressed. "What could possibly be more important than patrolling so much so that you have to leave in the middle of it?"
"I just. . . I have to go." He starts backing away before he turns and starts running.
I give the fan back his notebook. "I'm sorry about him, he's an intern from UA High. Quite a difficult one. I'm sure you saw him, he won the Sports Fest."
"The one that they had to chain up?"
"That's the one, now I have to go after him before he gets too far." I start in the direction he was going, but soon realize that he's out of my sight completely. I climb one of the buildings to get an overhead view, but I still don't see him. I never thought I would have to use this, but I put a tracker in his jeans. He's standing in the opening of an alleyway about two kilometers away.
How did he get so far so fast?
Regardless, I go to the alleyway to see what all this is about. I hear his shouting when I'm still about a kilometer from the site.
"DAMMIT!!" I don't know what happened, but I pick up my pace. This kid is in danger.
When I get to the alleyway, I don't think I would ever have expected what I see. Bakugou is crying heavily, holding a boy about his age with (h/l), (h/c) hair and (s/t) skin. The boy's eyes are closed. It's hard to tell if he's breathing or not. Bakugou is talking to him in a hushed, shakey voice.
". . .My hair will be back to normal so you can play with it the way you love to! Please! Just wake up! I'm begging you! Baby, please! I can't lose you! I can't. . . Lose, you. . . " Bakugou pulls the boy even closer to his chest and cries even harder.
I approach the pair with caution, not wanting to frighten them. Bakugou looks up at me.
"Please. . . I don't know if it's safe to lift him. . . you have to help him. . ." He whispers.
I nod and make a platform with my quirk. It's structured in a way that it's safe to put the boy on and won't cause him to move too much out of his current position, so if he has any injuries that limit his mobility, he'll be mostly okay.
We lift him onto the platform and make our way to the hospital as fast as possible. They take him into a room, but we have to stay outside while they work with him. Bakugou had to fill out a medical form since he is the only one that knows what to put down.
A few minutes of silence after he fills out the form and I decide the best thing for him might be to talk to him.
"Bakugou. . ." I say to get his attention. He looks at me, still bouncing his knee. "I didn't know you had a soft spot for anyone."
"I'm not soft for him! I just. . . I love him." He look back down at the floor in between his legs.
"It's okay to be soft for someone. It means you have empathy and love, very heroic traits."
"Tch, whatever. I just want him to be okay. . ." He looks toward the hallway they took the boy into.
He clearly doesn't want to talk, so I'm silent after that. It takes over three hours for anyone to be allowed in the room. As soon as the nurse comes out to tell us the situation and says that we can go visit, Bakugou runs to the doorway. He pauses to look inside the room at the boy before rushing in.
"(C/n)!!" He said worridly.
I stand outside the doorway. Bakugou is seated in the stool next to the hospital bed, holding the boy's hand close to his lips. He's extremely worried. I wasn't sure about Bakugou before. His anger seemed to be dominant and some might say that they thought it was his only emotion. But now I see. He has something, someone worth fighting for. He truly cares for this boy.
"Who. . . who are you. . . ?" The boy, I guess (C/n), asks Bakugou. I can see the worry that was already in Bakugou's demeanor increase.
I hope he didn't lose his memory of him. . .
"It's... It's me. It's Katsuki. You remember me, right. . . ? You always call me Katsu. I'm your boyfriend."
Katsu. . . ?" The boy asks slowly. Bakugou nods. "The hell happened to your hair. . . ?" He reaches up to touch Bakugou's hair I have completely changed.
Bakugou lets out a relieved sigh, and chuckles a little, bringing (C/n)'s arm back down. "Yeah. . . don't mind that.
"Yeah. . . Okay. . ."
Bakugou stays with him even after he falls asleep. I get called outside to speak with the nurse.
"It's clear that he didn't go down without a fight. He overused his quirk, so even Recovery Girl can't help right now. He's too drained. He has two broken ribs, but they seem to be mostly due to earlier actions that are unknown. Perhaps the binder."
"The what?" I raise my eye brow.
"The binder. The young man is transgender, you know that, right?"
"No, I. . . I didn't." I wasn't bothered by the fact, nor was I upset that I didn't know. I didn't even know the kid's name up until twenty minutes ago, who am I to judge his life?
"Oh, well. . . On top of the broken ribs, he has many small, but deep, cuts. And one of the broken ribs somehow got pushed back and it punctured his right lung. He also has some brain damage. We honestly don't know if he'll make it. If he does, it'll be quite the miracle. . ."
"Isn't there anything more you can do? I'll pay for the bill personally, just do whatever needs to happen, regardless if he can afford it or not." If this happens, it could lead to Bakugou's first step towards the dark side.
"If there was, we would be doing it. I'm sorry, but there simply is nothing more to do than wait."
The nurse goes into another room. I look back in at Bakugou. He's holding (C/n)'s hand and whispering things I can't hear.
He really cares for this boy. . .
Three days later, still Best Jeanist pov
"Oh. . . Um. . . I see. Yes, I see. I'll tell his boyfriend. Thank you for alerting me." I hang up the phone. The hospital. There were too many complications with (C/n)'s lungs and brain. They did all they could, but he passed away within minutes of when his heart monitor first started going flat. They had no time to call for a warning before it really happened.
Bakugou comes into the station for his internship, just as he has everyday this week. I remember him saying at least twice that (C/n) enjoyed his regular hair.
"Bakugou, you. . . You don't have to style your hair like that. . ." I tell him he smiles. It's a rare sight, one that I'll have to demolish in just a moment. How shameful. He immediately messes up his hair back to the original.
"That's more like it! What made you change your mind?"
"You. . . might want to sit down for this. . ." The smile falls from his face as he shakily finds a seat on the couch. "Just now, I got a phone call from the hospital. It was about (C/n)." The tears that welled in his eyes were something I never thought I would see. Now, I wish I never did. "They did all they could. . ." I whisper, tears coming to my own eyes. I never knew (C/n), but when you have to look anyone, especially a kid, in the eyes and tell them that someone they love is dead, especially when they believe they're the love of their life, the feeling is bad enough to make cliffs in deserts turn into waterfalls. "He passed away a couple minutes ago."
The tears flowed harder down Bakugou's face. "No. . ." He whispered. "That's a fucking lie! Don't make jokes like that!" He goes to hit me, but he's weak. He puts his fist on my torso, but I feel nothing. He lets it fall and he puts his head there instead. He keeps pounding on my chest, but it's the same as the, first time. I put my arms around him firmly enough to make him feel protected from the cruel world, but loose enough that he could get out of he wanted. "It can't be true. . ."
A few days later, Bakugou pov
The funeral was good, I guess. For a funeral, anyway. He looked like he was asleep, but not. Whenever he would fall asleep, he would either have a soft smile on his face or his mouth would be slightly agape. His hair would be really messy. He might mumble, drool, or shift positions from time to time.
Now, he just looked. . . well, he looked dead. Peaceful, I guess. But forced into something that isn't him.
They buried him in a black suit with a (f/c) tie.
He never really liked ties. . .
After the service, I went back to my dorm and cried. The whole class had gone and even some students from other classes. I was the last one to leave a long with his family.
Out of nowhere, I felt a pair of strong arms wrap around me. At first, I'm startled. But then I realize how much I need this. Someone. I don't even look at who it is. I just hold onto their arm tightly and cry harder.
After a long time, I calm down enough to look over to see who it is.
"Kir- Kirishima?" I sniff.
"Yeah?" He has tears in his own eyes and his voice is unsteady.
"Wha- what are y- you doing he- here?"
He wrapped his arms around me tighter. "Maybe not in the same way as you, but he was really important to me too." He whispers.

I sit in the back of the courtyard where the two decided to hold the wedding.
"I do!" Kirishima lets out an adorable giggle, making Katsuki giggle as well.
Sero, who got registered online, asks Katsu the same things he asked Kiri.
". . . I do. . ." He says quietly, he was certain that he absolutely does.
"You may now kiss the-. . . Groom?" I don't blame Sero, they don't really teach you what to say when you're officiating marriages with no bride.
The two boys share a kiss, causing applause to roar from everyone there.
At the reception, I hang out by the bar. I look a lot different than I did when I died. I look the way I always wished I looked. Very masculine with more testosterone than estrogen. I don't even have scars on my chest, which is now flat.
"Hey, you." I hear Katsuki from behind me. I turn. He was holding Kirishima's hand. "Who are you and what are you doing at our wedding?"
"Aww! You don't remember me?" I chuckle. I really wasn't expecting him to recognize me, especially since I died fifteen years ago. "I promised I'd be at your wedding, Katsu! Granted, we always thought I'd be the one in Kirishima's place."
Kirishima gets a little angry at that, but Katsu holds him back. Well, isn't that a turned table?
"What did you just call me?" Katsuki asks quietly.
"What I always call you. Katsu." I smile.
"Only one person has ever called me that. . ." He steps closer. Kirishima's expression shows that he's started to follow Katsuki's path.
"(C/n)?" Kiri asks quietly. "But. . . you're. . ."
Katsuki tries to give me a hug, but he can't touch me. "The hell was that??"
"You're not mistaken, Kiri. I'm dead. I died fifteen years ago. But I couldn't miss this! I still have some things I wanted to tell you guys."
"Like what?" Katsuki has pure shock in his eyes.
"Well, for starters, congratulations on your marriage!" I smile. "I was really worried when I first passed on because you seemed like you would never find love again. You blamed yourself, but that isn't true. It was mostly my own fault. I broke a couple ribs binding and I didn't do anything about it, so when that thug punched me, it moved them back and it punctured my lung twice. Nobody could have saved me. Plus, being a ghost has its perks! I have everything that I should have had during life, but didn't."
He smiles. "I didn't think I ever would find love again. But Eijiro was there for me when I wasn't even there for myself. After I moved on, I realized what was in front of me." He gives his hand a squeeze.
"Also, you guys both achieved heroism!" I laugh. "Mr. Ground Zero and Mr. Red Riot!"
They both chuckle. "Yeah, I guess we did."
