Y/n's POV

You were just promoted at your job as a police officer and work was getting heavier and heavier. You were sent off to fieldwork this early in the morning.

Police weren't really that much in the center when it comes to saving people in your world. All you did big was clean-ups.

Even so, you take your work very seriously. You were born without a quirk but that didn't stop you from wanting to help save people.

Even though you weren't branded as a hero, you could care less. After all, you already do your very best.

That said, you hated it when a hero was taking advantage of his job, fame, and money. Especially when you were in the same fieldwork.

You were known for ratting off heroes that show mishaps that endanger the civilians.

This day was no exception, even though the one saving assed was the Number Two Hero. It was your first time working with Hawks but you already had an idea that he was one of the persons you would rat out the most.

You were right. That morning the said hero was a bit sloppy. He looked like he didn't have a care in the world while fighting off villains.

He was probably not a morning person but that wasn't an excuse as to what happens next.

The citizens were still evacuating the area but one child decided to watch as if in some kind of movie. From the looks of it, Hawks was probably the child's favorite hero.

You rolled your eyes at the sight of this but decided to go get the child anyways. You weren't fast enough to get before the child was thrown off to the side.

The villain slammed to the wall signifying defeat. You looked at the other side and you see the blonde hero yawning.

You were damn furious. The child was bleeding, possibly even broke a few bones. This was not how a hero was supposed to be working.

You carried the passed out child to the ambulance and went off your way to find Hawks.

"Y/n-san, I think Hawks-san did everything he could in his stead." Your co-worker smiling nervously as he tried to stop you from doing anything rash.

"I'm just gonna have a word with him." You lightly pushed him and went on your way towards Hawks.

You hung your head low. "Oh, what is it officer? Fan sign? Sure." You slapped the man in front of you with everything you've got.

"I'm sorry but I don't tolerate sloppy heroes." You glared at his shocked handsome face.

Wait. Did I just? Oh my god, Y/n, now's not the time to dilly-dally about. Even though you adored him before, he's personality is a shit right now.

You shook your head a little bit and tried to get it off your mind. Your face was heating up a little bit. You were so glad you weren't one to blush easily.

He rubbed his cheek. "Ouch. What's wrong with you, Officer-san? I just save this city's lives and you go and slap me like that?"

He smiled at you but an irk mark was already forming on his forehead. "A child was wounded because of your carelessness. You literally sent the villain flying towards him!"

"How was I supposed to see that?! I was focused on the battle. You guys are in charge of evacuating the citizens." You seethed with anger even if he was half-right.

"We are but unlike you, we don't all have quirks. You're the fastest hero. Both of us know that you could've seen that child and you could've brought him to safety if only you were focused enough!"

"So I might have a mishap. So what? Because I'm a hero, I'm not allowed to make mistakes anymore?" You stared at him menacingly.

"You can't make mistakes if you have lives at stake." Both of you were in an endless argument right now. Both too stubborn to surrender.

He crossed his arms and rolled his eyes. You sighed and tried to calm down just a little bit.

"I'm letting you off with a warning, Hawks-san." You smiled forcefully at him.

"So, what'll you do the second time around? Slap me again? Taze me?" You take it back. He wasn't gonna get any warnings.

You pulled out your stun gun and struck him as quickly as you could. Your opponent was the fastest hero in town so you had to give it your all.

Not to mention, you had the element of surprise in your side as well. So you had a chance of winning. "I'm sorry. I take it back. As a police officer, I must always follow protocol."

You smiled and successfully stunned him.

Hawks's POV

I opened my eyes to an unfamiliar room. I let the brightness adjust to my eyes.

I was on a couch inside an office. I look to my right and see that damned officer. I may or may not have looked at her for a bit too long though.

She was cute up until she right out slapped me then tazed me. This was a madwoman. Oh, shut it Keigo. You know you liked her more because of that.

She suddenly coughed and looked at me weirdly. "What?" She sighed as she kept on working with her paperwork.

"Please don't do such weird faces Hawks-san." I pointed at my face. "I make weird faces? Are you sure you're not hallucinating?"

"I am, in fact, not for I have eyes." She rolled her eyes sarcastically but her pen still didn't leave the paper she was writing on.

"So mind telling me why I'm here?" She looked at me for a split second but got back to resuming her task.

"I would have thrown you in the cell for a couple of hours but the higher-ups wouldn't let me. So, they all forced you into my office."

She was clearly upset as the grip on the pen was getting tight. I felt sorry for the pen.

"Wouldn't blame them because I didn't do anything wrong," I smirked at her and laid my head back on the couch.

"Sorry to break it to you, Hawks-san, but in my book being a sloppy hero is a wrong thing." She didn't even spare me one glance but the paper was clearly getting killed through her eyes.

I sighed. "Do you always do this to heroes who get 'sloppy'?" She finally looked at me. I could see her face much clearer. She had e/c eyes.

She was real cute if only she didn't slap and taze heroes. "Yes, I've done it quite a couple of times. Although you're the first to be stunned without warning and the first to be sent here."

"And why am I treated differently? Did I catch your interest and taze me to get attention?" I sarcastically said.

"It was your idea to get tazed and I hate sarcastic pieces of shit." She went back again on her work after she said those words.

She was getting on my nerves. "Ah, I see. Getting personal now, aren't we, sweetcheeks?"

She put the stacks of paper away indicating that she was done with her paraphernalia. "You were going to repeat the same mistake anyways." She smiled at me mockingly.

"How would you possibly be sure of that?" I smirked back at her. We were in for another battle of sassy, witty, and sarcastic comebacks. I wasn't going to lose or gonna get stunned again.

Y/n's POV

"I trust my guts. They've never been wrong. It's my quirk." It was obviously just a joke but it seems like he was kind of considering it.

He was raising his eyebrow as if telling me to go on. You resisted the urge to facepalm because you had already told him earlier that you were quirkless.

You gave him a disappointed face and shook your head. You snicker. You guess sometimes you can't really have everything. Hawks already has a strong quirk, a well-built body, a hero agency, and was very attractive-looking.

You could see why he wouldn't have the wits. "Can't believe I actually believed that for a second there."

You sit across the couch he was sitting on. "Quite stupid are we, Hawks-san." You chuckle mocking at him.

"I'm many things but stupid, sweetcheeks." He smiles at you but is irritated.

You suddenly remember what he was here for and it wasn't for an idle chat. "Sure, but you're still sloppy."

"Why are you even obsessed with me being sloppy anyways?" He rolled his eyes but you were quite serious right now.

"I care for the citizens of Japan, Hawks-san, I was born without a quirk but I struggled hard just to become a police officer. I try hard to save the civilians but I'm no match for those with powerful quirks."

You take a deep breath and poured you both a cup of coffee. "So if I'm not good enough to save people, then, I have to make sure the heroes and so-called ones do it properly."

You fidget with your cup and stare intensely at the brown liquid. There were a few seconds of silence. Guilt suddenly filled you.

Maybe you were just a little too self-centered here. "I'm sorry. I think I might be too selfish in doing all of this, huh?" You felt the heat rise up your cheeks.

"Nah, I think you have a point, sweetcheeks. It's nice to have someone to wake us heroes up sometimes. Fame, money, and power can really get into some of our heads at times."

You suddenly lighten up. "You really think so?" You smiled brightly and truthfully this time.

"Oh, I know so." He smiled at you and it made your heart just melt a little bit.

"Now, are you gonna let me out of your office or are you just gonna keep me in here forever?" You shook your head and laugh.

You showed him out of the building. "So I just have to mess up next time, for you to have me in your office again right?"

You narrowed your eyes at him. "Don't go endangering loves and I might go out for a coffee." You grinned at him.

"Deal."
