Freedom In The Night

There was this BNHA book where Izuku's quirk was basically the abilities of the Night Fury. The story was cool though.

Anyway, instead of a natural quirk, it's the result of a experiment.

With that said, ENJOY!!!

======

Izuku was actually born quirkless. His mother tried to support him and Katsuki bullied him to no end. When he was 6, Izuku was kidnapped on his way home from school. There was a search party and everything. Eventually they presumed him dead. Katsuki, guilty for all the bullying he caused, refused to give up. Inko wasn't as strong and decided to move away, hurt from the memories of her son but she decided to kill herself instead from all the stress.

Izuku was kidnapped by the LOV, intending to turn him into a Nomu. The experiments always had him pinned to something, like the table, a wall, a counter, etc. Because of this, he developed Merinthophobia, a fear of being chained or bound.

The scientists changed his body, giving him black wings, black scales, a transformation quirk, etc. They planned to make him their ultimate Nomu but at the end of the experiment, it failed. Izuku wasn't mindless and he still retained his personal mind. Instead they decided to control him through torture and force.

Kurogiri was the only one who was nice to Izuku. He'd treat his wounds after "training" and give him milkshakes when Tomura's not around. But being a Nomu, he still had to follow orders.

I'll try drawing a sketch of Izuku's new look. Basically, he's normal sized when he doesn't transform. His wings are small, he has patches of scales all over his body, and his tail is about the length of his legs. They don't have those fin flaps.

When he transforms, he's basically like a werewolf but dragon. His body's hunchedback, his tail is longer, his whole body is covered by black scales, his wings widen, and his limbs grow claws. He'll have the abilities of a Night Fury, except for the Plasma Blast. He can shoot out electricity but only after absorbing some through his scales, which act as conductors.

===

When Izuku turned 10, he decided to escape the lab. He first made ruckuss in one of experiments and knocked down a few devices to release electricity. Once he had enough, he released it through hsi entire body blowing the place up. He flew off finally free.

During his flight, he realized one of his wings is crippled and suddenly lost altitude. He crash landed in a forest like place unconsious, and too tired to move.

Urarak came out after hearing a large crash outside. She went to her backyard and saw a boy tge same age as her wounded with a broken wing. When she approached Izuku let out a growl to back off and Uraraka approached more slowly. She quietly asks him to hold stil while she gets bandages. She snuck into her kitchen, found the bandages and patched him up.

Uraraka grabbed a few blankets for him but Izuku opted to stay in his dragon form. Uraraka visited every morning and afternoon keeping him company. Izuku decided to trust her and talked about himself through vague words. They kept doing this routine a secret from her parents not wanting to alarm them.

17 days later, Uraraka found out he left with nothing but a note and a small carving of a lizard and a person with it.

"Thank you for everything. I'll see you next time, my hero"

Uraraka only smiled sadly, hoping he'll be fine.

===

Ever since he left, Izuku became a vigilante by the name of Night Fury (come on u saw it coming). Victims noticed his tactics of looming in the shadows before suddenly him and his shadow growing larger, and then pounicng. Of course many searched through the alleys hoping to catch him but many scrstched their heads that he's always slipping out of sight. They finally got their answer when Hawks bumped into him during flight, revealing to have wings.

The police dispatched many flying heroes after him but Izuku was faster than Hawks. Izuku knew a few heroes and cops didn't want to capture him but he was breaking the law, so they had to do their job.

Out of the all the heroes, Izuku was the friendliest with Hawks. When Hawks was supposed to chase him, it turned into a night flight where they would zoom in freedom, having fun. Soon, it escalated into a brother-like relationship. He was the only one to know about his identity. They even helped each other fighting off villains. Something the public noticed and dubbed them "The Free Wings" (Izuku uses a voice modulator).

One time, a major villain by the name of Mad Zeus was on the rampage. He had a quirk that helped him gather and utilize electricity from his surroundings, but only through external resources. Mad Zeus attacked a gadget show and gathered all of the electricity from the gadgets, except the cameras. He held hostages and demanded a ransom for [insert expensive price here] yen.

Hawks, Izuku, and a few heroes were there to fight them off. Izuku was flung into a wall and Mad Zeus was about shoot some bystanders. Izuku jumped in at the last second and absorbed the electricity, showcasing his powers. While everyone was in shock (lol), Mad Zeus was irritated and was going to use a highly destructive move called "Desolate Storm".

Izuku grabbed him and flew him into he sky, just as he released his Ultimate Move. Mad Zeus was brain dead and Izuku finished him off by slamming into the ground. Everyone hailed him as a hero but Izuku escaped before they could question him.

===

Since the "Zeus Storm Assault", the public have regarded Night Fury as a hero and demanded the Commisionor to give him Licenses, Hawks among them. The Commisionor soon gave up and emailed the licenses. While Izuku was free from being seen as a lawbreaker, it didn't mean that some cops tried to lure him to be questioned.

Izuku kept in touch with Uraraka, delivering gifts right on her bedroom window. He even indirectly made contact with the future Class 1A. He saved Kirishima's little brother from a human trafficking, defended the Yaoyorozu's from a ransom, and brought down a school which turned out to have a lot of bullying, discrimination, and crimes encouraged by the teachers to the students (Shinso and another one with Tokoyami).

His popularity attracted many heroes to invite him to join their agency, but Izuku knew too well why they were doing it. At times he even allied with Stain to take down corrupted heroes and agencies through non-lethal means.

===

Today was the Entrance Exam and Katsuki has long given up on looking for Izuku. What he didn't know is that Izuku lost some memories during the experiments but remembered someone that was mean.

After hearing about the exams, Izuku couldn't help but sneak into the school (using his cloaking scales) to spy on the students. Even after earning his licenses, he couldn't help bit mess around at times which earned scoldings from other cops and heroes. He saw oversaw the students doing the written exam by hanging from the ceiling. When the practicals were about to begin, Nezu managed to catch him before he got too far. Nezu decided to invite him overseeing the practicals with the teachers, which he accepted.

Ignoring the teacher's stares, Izuku was excited to oversee the exams. All Might was there to get grasp of the norm and Izuku was internally unpleased with his presence. 2 days before he earned licenses, All Might mistook him for a villain and damaged his wings. By the time he realized who it was, he was scolded by those who witnessed the misunderstanding and tried to apologize to Night Fury he was gone, and left nothing but a scratch on his right arm. He's noted to act like a grumpy cat by All Might which is why Aizawa hangs out with him a lot.

When a Zero Pointer was malfunctioning, Izuku rushed to the zone before the staff could notice and gathered electricity from the air and struck down the bot. He later collapsed in front of Uraraka, her eyes widening in realization (forcefully gathering electricity takes a larger toll). He was escorted to the infirmiry to get treated but he was gone by sunset with a thank you note.

===

After the Quirk Apprension Test, many of them talked about how Night Fury completely obliterated the Zero Pointer. Kirishima changed the topic to an article about his mystery age. His victims said that he seemed to switch personalities and attitudes quickly. Some say he's a teen but others disagreed as he's been a vigilante for 5 years.

One day there was a break in in UA which turned out to be the media. Iida managed to calm the students and Night Fury arrived to take care of the reporters. He scolded them for disturbing the students and that a villain probably broke the barrier. Some of them were ashamed and shocked by this and the rest were intimidated by Night Fury's angered mood.

Once they left, he and Nezu investigated the broken barrier and Izuku noted that he saw someone vanish into something just behind the media. Nezu promised to keep a lookout and he left.

That night, Izuku noticed a lot of the streets were quiet and empty and had a bad feeling about tomorrow.

===

During a daily patrol in the alleys, Izuku intercepted a call from UA USJ about a villain attack. He went there at once and came crashing through the windows. He zoomed through every zone to save the students and bring them to the plaza, despite the weight exhaustion. He then called Hawks for backup.

When Aizawa was crippled by the Nomu, Izuku saved him just in time. Shigaraki comments that he looks familiar but continues ordering the Nomu around. Just thenx All Might arrives and fights off the Nomu but midway, he was restrained and was nearly chopped until Bakugo, Shoto, and Kirishima's intervention. When the Nomu was about to hit AM, Izuku took the hit instead, smashing his mask and revealing his face. He was dazed from the impact and was almost unconsious.

Everyone gasped, especially Bakugo who recognized him. Shigaraki however, cackled that it's no wonder he looked familiar. He exsposed his name and past of how he was a lab rat and was intended to become a powerfull Nomu, he retained his mind and was trained instead. Everyone was horrified at the revelation and Uraraka came from no where to guard Izuku. Shigaraki ordered tge Nomu to retreive him but it was blocked by AM who was angered that they conducted inhumane experiments. The others gathered around Izuku to guard him.

AM and Nomu begin to duke it out and AM manahed to blast him into the sky. Shigaraki was about to attack but he was shot by both feathers and bullets. Hawks came just in time along with the staff. Shigaraki and Kurogiri managed to escape and Hawls screamed "Otouto" when he saw Izuku's state. While everyone was stunned at this, Hawks quickly got Izuku to the ambulance. Bakugo began to question what happened to him.

===

A few days later, Izuku woke up, startled and panicked by being tied to the hospital bed. They soon calmed him down with Hawk's help and went to question him. Izuku told them everything he knew about the League but has no info about their location. He reveals that he met Uraraka before and doesn't remember who Katsuki is. The Bakugo fanily behind the one-way mirror were heartbroken at this.

When the questioning was over, the staff decided to give Izuku time to recover and assigned him to therapy for his Merinthophobia. They concluded that Izuku would be a sort of part-teacher part-student in UA, but he's allowes to keep the licenses. His patrols are now required to be accompanied by either Hawks or Aizawa.

Izuku started to get to know the staff during the weekends and familiarize with the school grounds. His therapy session were extremely slow but he had great company with Hound Dog (idk how therapy sessions work). He kept in touch with Hawks whenever he could.

===

When school started again, the press were crowding UA again after hearing the news that Night Fury identity was discovered during the villain attack, the same age as the students and is now working as part time teacher.

1A were in awe but nervous around him but Uraraka just welcomed him and was glad he was fine. As the Sports Fest was approaching, Aizawa informed on how Izuku (or Night/Fury-sensei) will be teaching Hero Basic Training alongside All Might (secretly so they could keep an eye on his methods). That exactly did the trick as AM was nervous around his watchfull eye. AM and Night Fury set up an obstacle course where the students wpuld have to find their way out of a maze, while fighting off smaller versions of the One-Pointers. If after 15 minutes that some students haven't escaped, he would enter the maze himseld as an obstacle, though wearing suppressor bracelets. The students would wear white belts and if they were taken, they're out of the game.

A few minutes since it begun, only Uraraka, Tsuyu, Kaminari, Kirishima, Sato, Ojiro, Shoto, and Bakugo were left. 15 minutes have passed and Night Fury was released. He mamged to take out Kaminari, Sato, and Kirishima and the ones left standing were almost out of time. Uraraka, Bakugo, and Tsuyu manged to make it out before time ran out.

The lesson is dismissed as the teachers went to find 1B. 1A were talking about Night Fury's great lesson and couldn't wait for the festival.

===

One day, 1A was blocked by a crowd of students who declared war on them, Shinso among them. Izuku saw potential in Shinso and trained him in secret with his stealth, fighting style, and parkour. He even helped Uraraka with hers and she and Shinso would spar at times. For two weeks, the students trained themselves for the Sports Fest until it was finally time.

The first round was an obstacle course where the students would ha e to weave around several obstacles the teachers have placed. Shinso and Uraraka's training paid of as they swiftly avoided the robot attacks. The two of them made a temporary alliance and helped each other cross the minefields but ultimately, Shinso was placed in 6th while Uraraka in 7th.

Bakugo was internally irritated that "Deku" chose those two instead of him. The next match was a cavalry maze race, similar to the one the Hero Course played. Contestants would wear a headband and the goal is to survive and move om to the final match. Students would have to battle each other and steal headbands from others in order to gain more points. The top 36 students with the most points will move on to the final match. Each student headband corresponds to their place during the obstacle race, meaning Bakugo earns 10 millian points. However, the handicap to all students was that 3 Ectoplasm clones and Night Fury will be obstacles to all of them to steal their headbands, and once they do, students are permanantly unable to retrieve them.

Once students took their place, the bells sounds and they dashed into the maze. At one point, one of them notices that Uraraka and Shinso were working together, and Midnight says that there's no rule against teamwork, as long as the students pass. It soon got dirty, as 1A's powerhouses were on a rampage. A few of them had their bands permanently stolen by the teachers. The match ends with Shinso in 1st place and Uraraka in 6th place.

During break, Izuku grew tired of Shoto's refusal to use his fire and went to confront him. Shoto explains about his pledge and his goal to spite father. He admires Izuku for during his vigilante days, made a mess of Endevour. Before he left, Izuku replies that he reminds him of his younger self, before becoming a vigilante. He explains that he was reluctant and terrified of his quirks, as they weren't naturally his and were forced upon him. He then grew to accept his powers and used them his own way.

Shoto was confused at emphasis but Izuku responds saying that he used his powers like they're his own instead of being inherited by someone he dislikes, and left. Bakugo was eavesdropping on their conversation, looking disturbed.

The third match was a one-on-one battle, simply students fighting each other, but with a twist. During the first two rounds, two contestants will have to battle against Night Fury. They said that 2 students forfeited as they were unwell from the fights. Some shivered fearing going up against a former vigilante. As the brackets appear, turns out Shinso and Kaminari would be fighting him.

He first battle was Izuku vs Shinso and while both were skilled with martial arts, Izuku won by tripping him and throwing Shinso out of bounds. The rest of the rounds continued with exceptional fights, Izuku was saddened when Uraraka lost against Bakugo, and Tetsu and Kirishima's ended in a draw. His battle against Kaminari was over in an instant, as the Electric quirked boy forgot to take in to account of Izuku's electricity conductors.

The first battle of the second round was Izuku vs Shoto and everyone was hyped for the son of the #2 Hero to fight the infamous Night Fury. Both fighters immediately activated their quirks as soon it begun. Izuku flew, weaving through rising columns of ice. Frustrated, Izuku yelled that Shoto was blessed compared to him, as he was born with such a unique quirk while he was born quirkless and was forced to undergo agonizing experiments to recieve one. The crowd gasped in horror at his story. He continues that he sometimes wished that he was still quirkless as the quirks make him sick and sometimes give him nightmares. Instead he chose to make himself stronger so no one would have to face what he experienced, but Shoto is only half-assing his power.

Confused and angry, Shoto demands to know what he meant and Izuku yells that it's his quirk and not his father's. Shoto was shocked and it gave Izuku an opening to literally flatten an ice mountain with a single tail slap, and stoop towards him. Shoto soon snapped out of it and used his fire. Izuku and Shoto were about to finish it and when the dust cleared, it's revealed that both fighters were beyond boundaries.

===

Confused, Midnight concluded that their match was a draw and would be broken by a tie breaker. They were sent to the infirmiry where Hawks and Uraraka were waiting anxiously. The rest of the match continues and whoever wins the tie breaker would have to fight Bakugo.

During the semi-finals, it's revealed that Izuku willingly forfeited the match. The crowd was disappointed and Bakugo was enraged that he wasn't going to fight Izuku, and took his anger on Shoto. Bakugo ended up winning due to Shoto's hesitant on using his fire. The Sports Fest concluded with Bakugo in 1st place, Shoto in 2nd, and Tokoyami in 3rd for Iida absence.

===

During the internships, Izuku got Shinso, codename Will-0, intern with Aizawa to gain experience with using his scarf and martial arts. While Izuku was an official hero, he did not have an agency and was still too young to have one, so he went with his brother Hawks.

Both were pleased they get to hang out with each other, but Tokoyami was frustrated that he didn't learn anything. Izuku was spent most of his time sparring with Tokoyami with and without quirks. When capturing villains, both brothers were too fast for Tokoyami to catch up, that he got frustrated and made a new technique to be as fast as them. (Im changing the storyline a bit). Izuku soon saw Hawk's reason for neglecting Tokoyami and gave a vague clue to Tokoyami that he should find "the holes in the dark clouds and he should patch them up".

===

Their internship took them to Hosu where the Nomu's attacked. Tokoyami went with Hawks to evacuate the citizens while Izuku rushed to find Stain, after hearing cries from Manual. He soon found both Iida and Stain and fought him off. While Izuku could just fly them out of there, Stain was too fast and held a knife whenever he was close to grabbing him. Iida was shocked that his sensei and Stain have teamed up before, but yelled for him to leave.

Instead, Izuku scolded him for being so reckless. Shoto managed to arrive and together, all thre of hem managed to subdue Stain, but not before he severely injured Izuku by stabbing his shoulder and back. Izuku was unconsious and the heroes who've arrived ordered them to get him to the hospital, but a Nomu swooped in and grabbed him.

Luckily, Stain freed himself and killed the Nomu. He then made a speech about all the false heroes of today and how All Might and Night Fury were worthy.

===

Iida and Shoto were heaviky scolded by Aizawa and the police, as well as getting Izuku severely injured. Iida was guilty for getting his teacher hurt, but to his surprise his punishment was lighter than anticipated as Izuku pleaded them to not be too harsh.

Izuku was put on house arrest to recover his injuries until the end of the internships. Everyone was talking about the Hosu Incident as well as a video posted about Stain. The video told about his backstory as well as his former alliances with Night Fury to take down corrupted businesses.

During one training excersize, Bakugo unexpectedly challenged Izuku to a fight. This caught everyone's attention as his demeanour changed. Izuku accepted and the two were duking it out. Frustrated, Bakugo yelled about one event in their past and shot a blast at him. This reawakened Izuku's memories and his attitude began to change. He was angry and was no longer holding back and ultimately won.

Later that day, Izuku privately talked to him outside of a building about their past. Bakugo expressed his refret but Izuki was apathetic towards him. He claimed that he had a weird feeling that he disliked him and this explains a lot. Unknown to them, the class as well as CCTVs were eacesdropping on them, and the students felt bad about their relationship.

===

A handfull of students failed the practicals of the finals but were still allowed to go to Training Camp. They meet Pussy Cats and Kota, who's another brother figure to Izuku. Once the class reached the main camp, Bakugo asked Mandalay on how they knew Izuku. Izuku crash landed in their forest a few years ago and was founded by Kota, who kept him company. It soon became tradition for him to visit every Summer and Winter holidays. Once he got his licenses, Kota confessed about their meetings and Izuku was now a yearly visitor.

During a Test of Courage, the camp was attacked by the Vanguard Action Squad, who intend to kidnap either Bakugo or Izuku. The Squad ended up capturing both of them, with Tokoyami as a bonus.

The teachers brainstormed a plan and Kirishima, Shoto, Uraraka, Momo, and later reluctantly, Iida decided to rescue them themselves.

===

When all three were captured, the League decided to separate Izuku from the rest, with his horror that he was chained in a very familiar. Shigi tried to convince the two to join but they refused. The heroes then arrived and demanded the villains to surrender. When they saw Izuku wasn't there Shigi half-laughed that he's in a different hideout "finishing his homework". Hawks, who forced himself to join the raid, demanded answers but Shigi was in a tantrum when Nomus showed up.

The League, Bakugo, and Tokoyami were warped to Nomu factory. All Might came charging in demanding the students. However, AFO maliciously laughed that Izuku "is finally complete". He reveals that they finished the experiment on him and is now one of them. A wreckage pile explouds and reveals Izuku in a different outfit, with a blank gaze.

All Might and the students stared in horror until Izuku attacks Bakugo and Tokoyami. Bakugo yells at him to snap oit of it before realizing that they're cornered. The duo formed an unspoken plan, Tokoyami will take care of the League while Bakugo will deal with Izuku.

Both fights were witnessed by media and were horrified that Night Fury became a Nomu. When Izuku was about to blast, Kirishima comes in and protects Bakugo with his quirk. The small group helped fight off the League and Izuku. Desperate and upset, Uraraka tearfully pleads Izuku to stop and talks about the things they did together. At this point the League was forced away to escape.

Izuku visibly flinches and upon closer look, there was strain in his eyes. Bakugo joins in and yells about their past, and expresses his remorse that he was dick and wished they were friends like before. Izuku's body suddenly "locked down" and began to clutch his head. Everyone jumped in to subdue him. When he throws them off, the Pros arrive and Hawks further subdues him with his feathers, and pleads him to "fly free".

This quote actually belonges to Izuku and was ebough to snap him out. He collapses and sobs apologies to his friends. They comfort him and began to escort him. However, Izuku saw that AM was failing and decided to help one last time. The crowd saw his efforts and cheered for them to win. Izuku flies AM directly towards AFO and uses his scales to conduct some of OFA electricity and create a "lightning barrier" around them. They charge towards the villain and ultimately won.

Everyone cheered and celebrated their victory and no one knew that Izuku temporarely used OFA during the Smash.

===

During those months, Izuku was taken straight to the doctor and with heavy fines, exhausting efforts, and unknown experiments, they were able to disable the Nomu functions in his brain. The class were introduced to the now mandatory dorm system. They talked about the Kamino Raid when Izuku walks in. He gives out a few words, saying that he heard their efforts to rescue him. He then bows to his knees and mutters his thank you's and apologies for causing so much trouble. The class was only stunned shocked that he bowed and frantically called out tgeir forgiveness and assured him. That night, Bakugo and Izuku have small moment on the roof. Bakugo strained a mutter on how he wished things were different and says he's glad that Izuku's back. Izuku said nothing then said, "It's good to see you again, Kacchan" with a small smile. When he left, Bakugo cried silently as he was happy he said the line he never thought he hoped for.
