~ Where's Izuku? ~

"Class," Inko said suddenly as she walked into the classroom. "Today is the day of the Sports Festival and all of you have many people who want to see you. But before we leave for the Festival, I want all of you to know that you will get hurt and if you back out now, no one should think less of you."

When she said that, one perverted midget started to shakily raise his hand until the walking Pikachu convinced him with very questionable reasons.

"Hell no! Granny, I'm not backing down till I beat Deku into the ground!"

'Granny?' Inko thought as a vein in her forehead popped out. 'Wait, beat my son into the ground? Oh, you're dead.' She thought as she started to calm herself down. "If you are all going to be participating, go get dressed in your P.E. uniforms and meet up at the front of the school."

Following Inko's instructions, everyone filed out of the room excitedly as they saw other classes already in their uniforms and heading outside. Ignoring them, Class 1-A headed to the locker rooms where they all changed and Momo smacked Minoru with one of her metal staffs.

Anyway, Class 1-A went to the front of the school where they had to get on a bus so they could get to the Festival grounds. Most of them thought it was odd, but didn't question it. After a rather short trip, the class arrived at the Festival grounds, only for Inko to use her Quirk on all of them and dragged them passed it so they could get to the stadium on time.

While they did that, a cloaked figure walked around the festival grounds while holding the hand of a young white-haired girl. Compared to the cloaked figure, Eri wore a blue sundress and Mary Jane's along with white stockings.

"Eri, would you like some Takoyaki?" The cloaked figure asked with his hood still covering his head, even though every reader should know his identity already.

"W-What's Takoyaki?" Eri asked innocently as Izuku bought a small tray of Takoyaki from one of the many vendors at the event.

"Well, it's like a dumpling filled with octopus. It's good, trust me." He said as he grabbed an extra toothpick from the vendor. Walking over to a bench, the two sat down as Izuku used a toothpick to pick up one of the Takoyaki and gave it to Eri. "Here try it."

Hesitantly, Eri bit into the food and ate it. "It's really good."

"I told you," Izuku replied as he ate one of the octopus dumplings.

Nearby, the Takoyaki vender gave out a free tray of Takoyaki to a scandalously-clad heroine. With the tray of food in her grasp, Mt Lady walked away and walked right passed Izuku and Eri, but glancing back she hurried back and appeared right in front of them.

"Hey, aren't you that Shockwave guy?" She asked, only able to see the bottom half of Izuku's face due to his apparel.

Recognizing Mt Lady's voice, Izuku set down his own tray of food on the bench, allowing Eri to take another one of the delicacies without him noticing. Either way, he stood up and looked up to Mt Lady for a few seconds before his hood fell down.

"Huh?" Mt Lady sounded, completely dumbfounded as Izuku froze up. "Who in the world are you?" She asked, almost cursing but there was a child present, so she resisted the instinct.

"Um... I-I'm Izuku Midoriya, otherwise known as Shockwave," Izuku replied nervously as he scratched the back of his head with his left arm.

"I... How?" Again, Mt Lady was dumbfounded.

"I wouldn't worry about the how; I'd worry that the festival will be starting soon." He said, only realizing what he said until he said it. "The festival is starting soon! Sorry, I have to go! C'mon Eri!"

In rush, Izuku grabbed Eri who grabbed the tray of Takoyaki as he started to run to the giant stadium built specifically for the Sports Festival. Consequently, he left Mt Lady still dumbfounded. "What just happened?" She asked no one in particular until she noticed her food was getting cold, so she tried to forget about Izuku and focused on her food instead.

In UA's personal stadium, each participating first-year class was grouped together while Midnight stood off to the side on the same platform with a single mic stand next to her. "Hello, ladies and gentlemen! Welcome to UA's annual Sports Festival, broadcasted live to all of Japan!" Midnight announced to the packed stadium to citizens and heroes. "Today our first-year students will show off their skills in three random events! But without further ado, let's have a word from our freshman representative!"

"Finally!" Katsuki shouted as he pushed through the crowd.

"Sorry!" Someone shouted from above as they dropped down from the sky. Looking up, everyone saw a cloaked figure diving straight toward the ground, but before they hit the ground, some kind of smoke started to propel themselves faster until they flipped and landed on just their feet. "Excuse my tardiness, I couldn't resist a quick snack." The cloaked figure spoke as they jumped up to be on the same platform as Midnight, showing they were slightly shorter than the provocatively dressed woman.

"Take it away." She said as she stepped out of the way.

Standing in front of the mic, the cloaked figure looked at the group of students and the much bigger crowd around all of the participants. "Many of you may know me as Shockwave, a mysterious person who went out and took down a few villains. But, today I show you all who is behind the mask." He said as he used his left arm to unclasp his mask and shook his head to make the hood of his cloak fall down. "I am Izuku Midoriya, son of two amazing heroes, a student of UA, and victim of the USJ incident from two months ago."

Then, he looked toward Midnight as if awaiting permission or a signal, to which she just nodded. So, he took out four bead-like contraptions from his belt before throwing them into the air. With a snap of his fingers the beads folded out into four Humming-Bots, all colored a dark green and black. Following unsaid orders, the robots each went in front of a separate section of the crowd before making a holographic screen appear while Izuku used his mask to do the same for the students.

"During that incident, many of us got hurt. And what you see before you now is a recording from my mask that barely survived the attack." With another snap of his fingers, Izuku made each screen start to play the recording but made sure to skip some of the less important parts of the recording. "The league of villains. That group was the cause of the incident and they had a bioweapon they have called Nomu. This weapon had enough power to best All-Might in combat and tore my right arm off."

For a moment, he let that sink in for everyone. Seeing their looks of disgusts and horrified faces, Izuku skipped ahead in the recording, to the moments where he used his Quirk. Luckily, his mask came off in those moments and was somehow in the right position to see glimpses of the fight.

"But you see, even after all that pain, I didn't give up. That is what a hero should do. A hero is someone who will risk their own comfort and health for a better future. Not someone who points their nearly-nude body towards cameras and collects money while people suffer!" He shouted this time, trying to emphasize his point. "I'm sorry to bring this up, but it had to be done. This world will not be kind to you and the path to becoming a hero will be filled with turmoil and strife. If you back out now, no one will think less of you."

Again, he stopped as many of the students lowered their heads in shame. Thankfully, he didn't write out a sad ending to his speech.

"But I won't back down. Even after losing my arm, I stood against and beat the Nomu." He said before dramatically taking off his cloak. "Now, I still stand here in front of all of you! I didn't give up, and instead, I built myself a new arm! So, I guess you can say I went," He paused as he let the audience catch on to the little bit he prepared.

Raising his metal arm into the air, Izuku and everyone else shouted, "Plus Ultra!"

"Alright! Without further interruptions, the first event will be," Midnight shouted as the holographic screens displayed a lottery wheel and stopped at the obstacle course. "An obstacle course! And it starts now!"

Without any warning, a tunnel opened up behind all of the students and all of them immediately ran towards it without thinking things through. As for Izuku, he put on his mask but left behind his cloak. Joining in the frenzy of students, he clicked his heels together and initiated his rocket boots, using compressed water vapor to propel himself above the rest of his peers.

All of the sudden, the entire tunnel was encased with ice, all due to Shoto Todoroki trying to get an early lead. Luckily, the rest of Class 1-A expected this and had thought of a countermeasure for it. Allowing Momo, Katsuki, Tsuyu, and Izuku to safely get away while the rest of their class got out of the trap with little to no trouble.

Pulling ahead, Shoto was the first to enter the first third of the test: Robots. So, he simply froze the robots over and left them as someone else's problem. 'I'll win and show him wrong.' He thought, focused on only the course.

One of the people who had to work around the frozen robots was none other than Momo. But, thankfully, there was Izuku Midoriya with his amazing prosthetic arm. Using that arm, he punched the robot out of the way before he disengaged his boots, allowing him to run next to Momo.

"Hey," Izuku said casually as Tenya sped past them with ease. "I missed you."

"You could have visited. Or even called." She replied in between pants.

Punching another robot, Izuku clicked his heels again. "I-I hope this m-makes it better." He said nervously as he picked up Momo in a Princess-style carry. Ignoring her yelp, he flew over the one-pointers, two-pointers, and three-pointers.

Then he reached the zero-pointers. Unluckily for him, the larger crowd of students was approaching and Shoto was passing through, though he was still far ahead of them. And unfortunately, Shoto's first reaction when he got close to one of the zero-pointers was to freeze it solid.

"Everyone, watch out!" Eijiro shouted as he hardened his arms and braced for impact. Alongside him, someone turned completely metal and braced for impact as well.

Taking the lead, Izuku made a bold move and threw Momo out of the way of the falling robot, but didn't have time to fly out of there. Quickly, he pulled one of his explosive disks and threw it upward while he used his metal arm to cover himself from the blast and potential shrapnel.

Once the disk exploded, a large hole was blown in the body of the robot, allowing Izuku to be out of harm's way and climb out so he could continue the course. As he climbed out, Eijiro and his doppelganger burst through the body of the robot with pure brute force, surprising everyone watching.

"Woah! Now that's metal!" Present Mic shouted over an intercom, starting his commentary off with a very poor choice of words.

"Mic, let's focus on the match and not bad jokes." Spoke a second commentator.

"Aww, c'mon Fire Hazard. I know you just want to see your son in action, don't cha?" Present Mic said for everyone to hear.

'Tou-san?' Izuku thought as he ran to catch up to Momo, but was still a bit behind her. 'Of all times, now you want to come down to Japan and be a parent.' He thought sadly and started to ignore the commentators in favor of focusing on his opponents.

"Looks like Shoto Todoroki is in the lead and he's coming up to the next obstacle. The rapid river!" Present Mic shouted, allowing everyone behind Shoto to know what the next obstacle was. "And following up in second is Katsuki Bakugo. After that is Tenya Iida in third and both Momo Yaoyorozu and Tsuyu Asui behind him."

"Class 1-A seems to be really stepping up their game." Added Fire Hazard, looking behind to see Izuku trying to catch up, but he didn't seem to be giving his all. "But the rapid river should slow down a few of these students."

Just as he said, the river slowed down Shoto, who didn't want to give his opponents a path. Though someone like Katsuki just continued to blast through it with only an occasional break to make sure his sweat had a chance to build up.

Once Izuku arrived at the next obstacle, he could see Momo using metal staffs to vault herself over the river. As for him, he waited for a few seconds before clicking his heels and flying over the river, waiting to make sure Momo made it across.

The next stretch after the river seemed just like a long run, so Izuku deactivated his rocket boots and made sure his rebreather was in use. Well, it seemed like a long run until something blew up from under him.

"Looks like Midoriya has found the minefield!" Present Mic announced right as Katsuki and Shoto were blown back by explosions, all the way back to where Izuku was. "It seems Yaoyorozu has taken a surprising lead! How will Class 1-A's trio take it back?"

'I'll kill her!'

'A minor setback.'

'New Plan!'

Taking something off his belt, Izuku pressed on a white glowing disk before an ear-piercing sound emitted from it. Luckily, his mask hooked over his ears and plugged his ears with customized earbuds. Unluckily, Shoto and Katsuki had to hold onto their own ears in pain, though the latter was even more pissed now.

"Sorry, guys!" Izuku shouted to them as he stopped the sound and reactivated his boots. Waiting for a few seconds, he let Katsuki and Shoto start maneuvering around the minefields until he believed he was fair enough. "Pina set the explosive disk to level 2." He mumbled as he stuffed away his ultrasonic disk and pulled out one of his explosive disks.

Dropping it, he kept pushing forward to reach Momo. But as Katsuki and Shoto kept trying to pass each other to get to Izuku, the disk dropped right in front of them and detenated the mine in front of them. And once the first mine started, the disk went off and started a chain reaction with the other mines.

"I'll kill you, Deku!" Katsuki shouted as he was bombarded with explosions.

'Let's hope you don't get the chance. I don't want to lose another limb,' Izuku thought grimly as he kept flying forward for a few seconds, just a few meters away from Momo, but that was when he heard Katsuki and Shoto racing toward him.

Without even glancing behind himself, Izuku grabbed one of Momo's arms and ordered Pina to increase the output of his boots beyond tested ranges. As he did that, Katsuki kept blasting himself forward, trying to pull the lead while Shoto did the same, only he used a trail of ice to push him ahead.

"Looks like this could be a photo finish, folks!" Present Mic shouted as the four students passed the last stretch of the minefield and were about to reach the tunnel where the race would end.

"Momo, get ready!" Izuku shouted, seeing his boots about to run out of their emergency fuel.

"Ready for what exactly?" She asked frantically as Izuku kept dragging her along the way.

"Just get ready to make one of your staffs!" He shouted as he switched his grip so only his metal arm was holding onto Momo.

Barely hearing their small chit-chat. Katsuki and Shoto kept pushing forward, taking the lead. All of the sudden, Izuku spun around in the air and threw Momo as far as he could before he fell to the ground and had to run the rest of the way. Thrown ahead of Katsuki and Shoto, Momo figured out what she had to do and made an X with her arms in front of her before she started to make her staffs, pushing her ahead until she made it back into the stadium.

"Momo Yaoyorozu is the winner!" Present Mic shouted as the crowd burst into cheers. "And it looks like Shoto Todoroki takes second, leaving Katsuki Bakugo in third!"

At that moment, Momo was simply shocked by what just happened. Snapping her out of her shock, Izuku came in the fourth place spot and hugged Momo gently. "Why?" She managed to say in her state of confusion.

Stopping their hug, Izuku held Momo by the arms as he looked into her eyes. "Because you deserve it." He said, ignoring everyone looking at them. "After all, I wouldn't be here if you never came and snapped me out of my grief. Hell, I'd probably be fighting villains instead." He joked, letting go of her arms before he stepped back and looked at the crowd gathered for the Sports Festival.

"Well, everyone, it looks like the first event is wrapping up!" Fire Hazard shouted as some more of the first-year students finished the race. Waiting a few seconds, he let forty-two students make it past tunnel and into the stadium before he pressed on a button, closing off the tunnel. "Sorry, kids, but only the first forty-two competitors will move onto the next round. So, if you'll kindly just make your way over to your private seating arrangements, we won't have to start a scene."

"Midnight, if you don't mind, please tell everyone what the next event will be." Present Mic asked as Midnight made her way back into the stadium and cracked her flogger in the air to get everyone's attention.

"With pleasure," she said, standing on the same wooden platform she was on earlier. "The next event will be the maze where only eight winners will come out of it!"

~ Get ready for the Mazes! ~

A/N: I hope you enjoyed the first event, but you probably skipped over Izuku's speech...

Anyway, for the next chapter, I prepared a maze, but as you know, I only care about two competitors, so I hope you are excited!
