You were getting out of the shower after a long day of training. You were so tired and just wanted to curl up with your boyfriend and sleep... maybe forever. You were that tired. As you walked to your bedroom you hesitated. It's cracked open. Well, at least now I don't need to call Mirio over, you think as you approached the door, but you heard your boyfriends voice and stopped dead.
"She's not here right now... No, she doesn't know... (y/n) can't find out! That would ruin it... No, it'll be fine... okay, I'll see you tomorrow night." You didn't know who he was talking to but that didn't sound good. You tried not to shake and cry as you entered your bedroom and looked at Mirio. "Hey~" he smiled sweetly at you, walking over to fold you in a tight embrace. You bit back tears as you narrowly dodged the hug. "What's with that, (n/n)?" he asked with a confused smile.
"Mirio, who was on the phone?" You ask, tears brimming, a look of shock crossed his face.
"You weren't supposed to hear that." He muttered the words, but he may as well have shouted them. "How much did you hear?" he asked. You looked at him in disgust.
"I think I heard enough of it to know it's time for you to go," you spat angrily. He went to argue but you looked him dead in the eyes. You could barely see through your tears as you activated your quirk, Mirio's eyes turning blank and emotionless as you made him leave the room. You locked the door and disabled your quirk.
"(N/n)! (Y/n)! Let me explain!" Mirio said as he knocked on the door, pleadingly. You appreciated that he didn't just phase it.
"Togata, I don't think there it anything to explain," you called through the door. There was a moment of silence. You never called him by his last name.
"(Y/n), it's not what it looks like," He said quietly through the door. You pressed your back against the door and slid down it.
"Have fun tomorrow night," you said bitterly as tears fell down your face. You heard a heavy sigh and footsteps as they padded down the hallway, away from you. You shook your head, took a quivering deep breath, and got up. You put on your favorite black sweatpants and you (f/c) sweatshirt. You opened your phone and looked for a good playlist among your thousands of playlists. Finally, you decided on a playlist you hadn't touched since your edgy middle school days. It had Fall Out Boy, Au/Ra, Anna Blue, Panic! At The Disco, and My Chemical Romance, to name a few. You hit shuffle and Teenagers came on. You decided this would be the perfect way to express your anger: dance around and angrily head bang.
"The boys and girls in the clique
The awful names that they stick.
You're never gonna fit in much kid. But if your troubled and hurt,
What you got under your shirt
Will make them pay for the things that they did!
They said 'All teenagers scare the living shit out of me!'
They could care less as long as someone will bleed!"
You were really vibing, working off the urge to kill that cheating bastard, when someone tapped you on the shoulder. You screamed and looked to see Nejire offer a soft smile. All of a sudden, you felt like falling apart all over again.
"I heard what happened," she said softly. She opened her arms to you. You collapsed into them. Your best friend always knew when and where to be.
"He has a date tomorrow," you cried.
"I heard he does have plans," Nejire confirmed and you buried your face in her shoulder.
"I never want to leave this room again," you moaned. You flopped down onto your bed and cuddled your favorite stuffed (f/a). Suddenly you jerked away from it and threw it across the room, remembering Mirio had given that to you for Valentines day the year prior. Two years of romance, down the drain. You shoved your face into your pillow.
"Oh! Boo!" Nejire said, and nudged you playfully, "I think we should go out tomorrow just to spite him!" Your head shot up and you looked at her, slightly offended.
"Excuse me, but I'm suffering here!" you reminded her. She just chuckled.
"Oh, I know, but come on! You can't spend the rest of your days moping in your dorm room! You have to get off your but and show him you don't need him!" You sighed but had to admit she was right.
"Fine, tomorrow we can go out," you caved. She smiled brightly

"Where are we going tonight?" You asked as Nejire zipped up the back of the cream colored, floral, flowing, boho dress she brought you. You tied the pure, white ribbon that came with it around your waist and Nejire handed you a white headband to hold back your (h/l), (h/c) hair.
"You'll see! It's a surprise!" Nejire said, giddy with excitement. You sighed and clipped her black, gossamer dress with the silk underskirt.
"I don't know about this," you said, getting a cold feet about your night out. You fidgeted with Negire's spaghetti-strap, untwisting it. She whipped around to look at you.
"Oh, you are not getting away with backing out on me!" Nejire beamed as she brushed off your pleated, short sleeves.
You walked downstairs to find Amajiki in a pair of baggy jeans, a white t-shirt, and a black cardigan. He was waiting in commons for you. "You look nice (l/n)." He said with a weak smile.
"Thanks Amajiki! You look really comfortable! I love the cardigan!" You replied touching the wool sleeve. His smile grew a bit as he nodded.
"Hey, what about me?" Nejire asked, hurt.
"You look nice to, Hado," Amajiki chuckled a little. As your small group left you turned to Nejire.
"So, what? Did I get both of you in the divorce?" You joked, trying to make light of your heart ache. You weren't really ready.
"Oh, hush!" Nejire laughed, "There was no divorce!" You walk a ways, making small talk, effectively avoiding talk about Mirio. You end up at Nikko National Park[The choice of this was not for actual geographical perspective but rather something for readers to look up to paint a back drop] and when you cross the red bridge you see Mirio. You go to leave but find Nejire blocking your path. You turn back to Mirio who is now smiling softly at you. Amajiki gently grabs your arm and guides you over to him. Highland Spirits by Taylor Davis was playing in the background, your favorite song.
"Hey..." Mirio says meekly. You don't answer him when suddenly a bunch of people rush out from the underbrush and the trees.
"Surprise!" They yell. Mirio is now smiling widely at you.
"What is this?" you ask sheepishly.
"Your birthday is next month, I wanted to surprise you with a party, so I organized it a month early," he replied. He gave you a close-lipped smile and a wink as the sun set behind him.
"...So your not cheating on me?" you ask embarrassed.
"Ha! With who?" he laughed out loud, "Who else would tolerate me the way you do? You laugh at my jokes. No one else does that."
"They're pity laughs," you pout, feeling dumb now. You looked at your feet. He leaned down to look at you and gently guided your face to look at him.
"Are they?"
".... Sometimes..." He gave you a meaningful look and you sighed. "...No."you amended you answer as you bit back a smirk. He leaned in and kissed you sweetly. "I'm really glad you're not cheating on me," you told him after you broke apart, cupping his cheek in your hand, "I don't want you to kiss anyone else like that."
"Walk with me?" he asked, offering one arm.
"Why of course, good sir," you chuckle, linking your arm through his. You walk and stop in the middle of the bridge. As you look over the edge at the water, Mirio talks to you.
"(Y/n), I could never cheat on you. I care about you, too much. We've been together for two years, nearly three years, now. I promise to never hurt you like that again. If you would let me, I will always protect you. I love you." You turned to see him on one knee with a ring in his hand. Your eyes went wide in horror.
"Mirio, listen... you're amazing and I love you, too, but I'm just not at a place in my life where marriage is a good ide-" You start to say awkwardly, but he cuts you off with a small laugh.
"No! It's a promise ring! I'm not looking to be married at 18 either!" Mirio said, "It's not a promise for today, but for someday."
"Oh. In that case," you said with a suppressed smile, "YES!" And you jump on him, slipping the ring on. Mirio stood up and grabbed either side of your face, kissing you long and passionately. You placed your hands over his and when you broke away your foreheads were pressed together. "Someday," you whispered and he chuckled breathily.
"She said yes!" Hado yelled, "FIANCEES!" Mirio's eyes went wide with shock and horror.
"No! It's not what it looks like!" He shouted as he ran off the bridge leaving you laughing as your boyfriend did damage control. You looked at the ring on your finger.
"Sure, someday," You whispered with a smirk.
