Tsuyu Asui x Ghost!Reader: Kindness
Interesting request for a ghost reader. You were a U.A. student that happened to die where the dorms were built, and Tsuyu catches your eye. Your dead eyes lol. Enjoy!
Being a ghost was pretty boring.
Sure you did your fair share of scaring people when they walked by the empty space that you haunted, but it did get old after awhile. You wished you could go somewhere else, but you still weren't strong enough as a ghost to do that. Other ghosts that had been dead for a long time could wander around and sometimes they even visited you but they always left after a few minutes.
But then the U.A. dorms were built and everything changed. Now you had an entire building to roam and haunt. Plus you had actual people trapped in the building with you, and you were going to make sure to scare them out of their socks! However, it was important to be subtle about your haunting or else they could vacate the building and you'd be left alone again.
So for now you just relished in the fact that you could finally watch television. One night you were hanging out above the couch, trying to test how long you could float when suddenly one of the students walked into the kitchen area for a late night snack.
Now's my chance! Time to scare 'em good!
You floated over to the kitchen, a huge smile creeping onto your lips. But when they closed to fridge you stopped in your floating tracks.
Oh no...she's cute!
She was eyeing the strawberry that she had picked out of the carton before popping into her mouth with a satisfied smile. You stared at her unabashedly, trying to remember if you had seen her these past few days since the students had moved in. But she must keep a low profile because you didn't remember seeing her, and you knew you would've remembered her.
I wish I could talk to her! Oh wait, I can at least show her I'm here, you thought. Your eyes scanned the kitchen for something to knock over. You chose a plastic container that was sitting near the edge of the counter. If you just concentrated you could knock it over easily.
Here goes nothing!
You gathered up your strength and made your hand solid for a single second, smacking the plastic container which went flying across the kitchen. It landed with a loud thud and the girl looked up, her naturally large eyes getting even wider because of what she just witnessed.
"Is someone there?" she asked calmly, and you wanted so badly to tell her that you were here. But you couldn't so it was time to be creative.
You willed your foot to become solid and you kicked the fridge door, making a loud thumping sound. Surprisingly she didn't seem scared, in fact she seemed to grow calmer by the minute. "Are you a ghost? Tap the fridge once for yes."
Tap!
"Oh, I've never met a ghost before! Hang on, I'm going to do something that will make talking easier." she said, smiling to herself as she darted away. She seemed so excited to talk to you, most people would be too scared to move at the thought of talking to a ghost.
I wonder what her idea is...
...
The next morning you were minding your own business as you lied face down on the kitchen floor when the girl walked in. "If you're still here, I finished my idea. Now we can talk a bit easier." she said, and you floated up in excitement. "Follow me."
You floated behind her a few paces and she led you to her room. You read the name plate near her door that said 'Tsuyu Asui' on it and you nodded to yourself.
That's a pretty name, you thought. Wait a second, maybe I can talk for just a moment!
You willed your voice to come out with all of your strength. It was rare for ghosts to be able to talk coherently but maybe you could do it.
"Tsuyu...pretty...name!" you said, before floating down to the floor and sitting on your knees. Just saying a few words made you exhausted, but the smile that had lit up Tsuyu's face made it all worth it.
"Thank you! Ribbit, I'm glad my parents came up with it." She said. "Ok so here's my idea ribbit. I made these letters out of paper, and you'll just move them to spell out the words."
You looked over her shoulder and saw that she had created every letter in the alphabet and had put it in rows on her floor. It was clear that she had put in a lot of effort for you, and you were so thankful for that.
It had been many years since a living person had actually made you feel wanted. "Tha...nks..."
"Don't push yourself, just use the letters." She said kindly, and you sat down on the floor. First you spelled out your name and she wrote it down in a small notebook she was holding.
"Y/n...that's a really nice name ribbit."
You moved some more letters around and spelled, 'I used to be a U.A. student, but now I'm stuck here'
Tsuyu hummed in thought. "Is there any way that you can leave the dorms?"
'More time as a ghost'
"Oh I see, you need to like gain power the more time you're a ghost." She said. "Well y/n...I'll help you as much as I can, ribbit!"
Your heart (not that you had one anymore) swelled with gratitude at her kindness. It had been so long since you had felt this rush of different emotions, but you didn't want it to stop at all. You wanted to be confused with Tsuyu, you wanted to feel everything!
...
1 month later
You were slowly growing stronger as a ghost and you felt like any day now you would be able to leave the dorms. You were able to hold things for an extended amount of time, instead of just phasing through them. You were even able to reveal yourself to Tsuyu, but unfortunately you were still wearing the clothes you had died in which happened to be your school uniform. Tsuyu didn't seem to care what you wore though, she always was happy to see you.
"Hey y/n, when you're able to get out of here you wanna go somewhere special?" she asked you one day while she was just finishing up some homework. You were floating slightly above her bed while you read a book, but her question caught you off guard.
"What do you mean by special?" you asked, and she shrugged her shoulders.
"I mean you haven't been out of this spot in years, what's one place that--"
"Oh that I've been dying to see? Hahaha get it?" you chuckled, plopping yourself down on her bed. Tsuyu chuckled, but her eyes remained serious. "Ok, ok I'll be serious...well now that I think about it, I've really missed the ocean. My family always used to take me every summer, and I almost feel like it's changed or something...even though it probably hasn't...I just want to see it." you said, picking at the blanket that was underneath you.
Tsuyu smiled, got up, and took your hand in hers. "Then let's go to the ocean ribbit! I really want to go to the ocean with you y/n...you're very special to me." Tsuyu said, her voice getting soft, almost turning into a whisper.
"You're so special to me Tsuyu, i-if I wasn't dead I'd ask you to be my girlfriend!" You said, laughing awkwardly. Tsuyu was silent for a moment as her cheeks became tinted with a light blush and she averted her eyes for a moment before gazing right at you.
"W-Well I wouldn't be opposed to being your girlfriend y/n..." she said, making you splutter in surprise. You didn't expect her to actually say yes to your offer, that you were only half-joking about.
"Y-You do? Even if I-I can't really provide much for you?" you asked her.
"You provide everything for me y/n!" Tsuyu said as her grip on your hand tightened, and you became a blushing mess because of her touch. "Ribbit, I want to be your girlfriend y/n."
"Then be mine, and we'll go to the ocean together." she said. You nodded your head, pressing your forehead against hers and closing your eyes.
"I'll always be yours then Tsuyu."
