"I don't wanna fight, I wanna make a deal with you."

"Huh!?"

"I said that I wanna--"

You immediately cut him off before he could say more. "I don't make deals with villains and murderers! You--You--I'm...GET OUTTA MY CARPORT NOW!" You screamed and he flinched back slightly. He kept his hands raised and stood his ground despite your harsh words.

"Look I know you have quite the sense of justice, but just hear me out...please."

You clicked your tongue and frowned, scrutinizing him up and down. He seemed sincere, but then again he was probably a good liar so you didn't know for sure.

"Alright then! Spit it out Dabi. What could you possibly want?"

"If you help me with tracking down a certain villain, then you don't get to rat me out to the cops about the guy in the alley today."

"Hmph, that doesn't seem like it'll help me out at all. In fact, that deal helps you out more than me!"

"Not if you know which villain I'm talking about." Dabi replied coolly.

Your breath hitched. He couldn't possibly be talking about...

"How do you know about that incident!?" you asked him, desperation in your voice.

"Duh, I researched it obviously. Well, more like I researched you today." he said his blue eyes narrowing. "You used to work for another firm as a paralegal, but then they were attacked by a villain with a strength-manipulation quirk. They called him 'The Brawler.' Ten people died and thirty were seriously injured--"

"You don't know what you're talking about Dabi!" you cried out sharply. "I wasn't even there that day, I called in sick. My colleagues...my friends...they all got hurt and I wasn't even there to help! I don't know why you're after that villain but I wouldn't pursue him. He's dangerous."

"Don't you want revenge? Wouldn't it feel nice to give him a little taste of pain? Think of how much pain he caused you. I mean, isn't that why you carry that sweet baton around?"

"So...you're trying to give me closure, in your own twisted way?"

"Yeah, what do you say? I think we'd make a pretty kickass team." he said, lowering his hands and stuffing them in his pockets again. He seemed aloof about the whole matter, but you were seething with unadulterated rage. After all this time, you could finally see the man who killed your friends. You could look him in the eye and decide his fate. You didn't even care why Dabi needed to confront him, you just wanted your own revenge right now.

"I...I'm in. And so we're clear, my name is y/n l/n."

"That's a pretty cool name--"

"Let's just get going."

...

You swerved your motorcycle into the next lane with adept speed. You felt Dabi's grip on your waist tighten slightly as you drove maniacally. Countless people honked, and usually you would slow down, but right now you could care less about what anyone thought.

You and Dabi were headed towards a dry cleaning store that acted as a cover for underground smuggling. Dabi told you that the hidden back room of the store was a regular hangout for new and old villains.

Beep Beep!

"Go screw yourself!!" you yelled at the person in a blue truck honking at you. Making a swift left turn you pulled into the side street that the dry cleaners was on.

You parked and hopped off the motorcycle, taking your helmet off quickly. Dabi got off too, side-eyeing you shamelessly.

"I kind of like this whole mean side to you y/n." he said and you frowned.

"Well don't get used to it. I don't plan on working with you again." you said walking purposefully towards the door. You were about to kick it down when Dabi's voice suddenly interjected your thoughts.

"Y/n stop! We need to be cunning about this. We can't just bust in and do whatever we want."

"Oh we can, and we will!" you said angrily, kicking the door open with a loud bang. You burst into the tiny business, and raised an eyebrow at the cowering young man behind the counter. "Hey bastard, I know there's another room back there. Let me in now." you said, your voice becoming low and threatening. He visibly gulped saying, "I-It's right through t-that door."

Without hesitating you walked through the door, Dabi following you trying to match your brisk steps.

The dimly lit room was crowded and stuffy, the only sounds were low whispers and some jazzy tunes playing on a tiny radio on the bar counter. Strange and dangerous people eyed you and Dabi, and you felt your confidence start to shrink. You had never seen so many villains in one room before. Your instincts told you to let Dabi take this one.

Dabi, probably sensing your hesitation, walked in front of you his blue eyes scanning the room. He approached an older man with a wispy beard sitting at a round table by himself. He was steadily carving random words with a short knife into the table, and you put your hands in your jacket pocket and grasped your sheathed baton. Just in case.

"Oi old man, I contacted you about the whereabouts of the villain that attacked that law firm. Where is he?"

The old man stroked his white beard and smirked his eyes glinting dangerously. "First you'll have to pay up kid. Where's the gun that I asked for?"

What! A gun?

"Right here old man." Dabi replied, reaching into his pocket and slamming down an extremely tiny gun on the table. It didn't look like anything special to you, but the man looked ecstatic.

"Good job kid! All I could find out about 'The Brawler' was that he might have moved to a small town up in the mountains called Takayama. It's actually kind of a tourist site now." he explained, "But he pretty much left the villain scene after only attacking one law firm." Your blood boiled at that last comment.

"Only!? He killed ten people asshole!" you yelled, your angry voice filling up the entire room instantly.

You felt a strong hand grab your shoulder and you looked up to see an almost worried looking Dabi. "Y/n, let's just go. We've got all the info we need." Dabi said his eyes shifting from the gun in the old man's hands and you.

You realized how dangerous this situation could get, and you decided to let it go. As you both walked out of the room you heard the old man whisper good luck to you and Dabi.

I don't need luck you old villain, I just need revenge...

...

Takayama was a long a pretty long drive away, but coupled with your insane speed on a motorcycle and Dabi's surprisingly good navigational skills, it only took about an hour.

The old man hadn't given you two an address, but you figured that it was a small enough town so people would all know each other anyway. You and Dabi pulled into a small market, and as many people as you could about men who moved to Takeyama around the time after the attack at your firm.

Never even heard of that attack. I would know if there was a villain living in this town. I don't know. Hmm, doesn't sound familiar at all!

"Ugh!! Damn it! I feel like we are so close to catching this guy, and yet..." you stopped talking, frustration starting to ebb at you. Dabi looked at you, and ran a hand through his disheveled black hair.

"We don't need these people's input y/n. Let's go find this guy on our own." Dabi said, as he started walking down the street aimlessly. You sighed and followed him, wondering how long this was going to take.

You and Dabi looked all over the small town, but came up short. It also seemed like 'The Brawler' wasn't a household name at all. People just didn't know who he was.

It was starting to look like you would would never find this guy, until...

"Dabi hide!" you whispered, harshly pulling Dabi into a small alleyway. You peeked out just to make sure you had found the right person.

Yes, there he is. After all this time I can finally confront him!

"Is it really him?" Dabi asked, craning his neck to get a better look. The man in question was walking around, leisurely looking at the sky and whistling. He was muscular, that much you could tell, but he didn't look as frightening as the news made him out to be. In fact he looked kind of average, his hair was the only thing that kind of stood out. It was cut extremely short, almost in a buzzcut He also seemed unarmed, but you weren't sure about that.

But his shifty grey eyes were the same.

"That's him. That's definitely him!"
