The day Aizawa-Sensei passed out pages of blank lined paper, Midoriya had expected yet another pop quiz.

Somewhere in the classroom, Kaminari groaned audibly, "Seriously? A pop quiz?"

Aizawa turned his piercing gaze to Kaminari, and went to zip up his yellow-orange coat.

"Write a letter for you pen pal." He ordered simply, without explanation.

"WHAT?!" The whole class erupted in confused chatter, most demanding more context.

"Classmates! Classmates! CLASS!!" A firm, strict voice rose above the rest of the frantic voices with volume.

Almost immediately, the class snapped their head to the side of the room to where the strong voice belonged to.

It was none other than Iida Tenya, and the said male walked over to the front of the classroom, all eyes locked on the tall blue haired male.

Meanwhile, Midoriya fretted, silently mumbling to himself.

Pen Pal? What does this have to do with being a hero? He thought to nobody in particular.

Iida pushed his glasses up to his nose and gave a slight inquisitive smile, and opened his mouth to say, "It is just as Aizawa-Sensei had implied. We are going to have penpals!"

Mineta gave a bemused smirk, and snorted, "Way to go, Prez, thanks for clarifying."

Right after, Bakugou narrowed his eyes at the perverted male, "Oi, keep your mouth shut, gremlin." He shot back.

Mineta sank into his chair.

"I-Uh, I suggest using proper grammar, for your pen pal, and introduce yourself fo-formally." Iida stammered, slightly deterred by Mineta's rude remark.

Sero raised his hand. Iida nodded at him.

"I don't have a pencil," he stated sheepishly.

"I have one for you, Sero." rumbled a deep and mysterious voice.

Tokoyami, who then stood from his seat, approached his classmate's desk and presented Sero with a skull decorated pencil.

"Thanks man!"

Midoriya clutched his wooden number two pencil, (which, of course, had an All Might design on the eraser) and eyed the blank lined paper.

I should start by introducing myself?

He put his pencil to the paper, and began to write.

Next to him, Bakugou twiddled with the hem of his untucked shirt, completely uninterested in the idea of having a 'friend' from another country. He slouched in his chair, twirling his ballpoint red pen round and round.

Why should I even write to some stupid Extra?

No matter what he thought of the assignment, he did as he was told and began to write.

Now, you may be wondering, "Where's our favorite heterochromatic, multicolor haired teen?"

Well, the Todoroki was pressing his lips together, deep in thought.

He wasn't too concerned about the matter, he just didn't know what he would write.

It shouldn't matter too much.

Deciding on a simple greeting, he gripped his fingers around the mechanical pencil and began to write.

After thirty minutes of having the papers out, the whole class was finished with the letter, Uraraka picked up the papers and placed them gently on Aizawas desk.

The bell rang, and the students arose from their seats, and headed over to lunch.

The BakuSquad sat at their respective places, with their lunches in hand.

Mina started the conversation first, which was a frequent situation.

"Where do you think the letters are going?!"

"Ooo, I hope it's France." Disclosed Kaminari, imagining a hot french babe his age reading his letter.

Kirishima stroked his imaginary beard, and looked up at the ceiling, deep in thought.

His finger shot up, and he smiled. "Do you think they're going to Korea?"

Bakugou snorted, and threw his head back. "That's the stupidest fuckin' thing I've ever heard, Weird Hair."

Kirishima bowed his head in embarrassment, whilst Sero shared where he thought the letters were going.

"I dunno dude, Korea seems kinda..?"

"How about India?"

Mina tilted her head, and asked, "Why India of all places?"

Sero shrugged, gave his signature triangular smile. "Why not?"

Bakugou rolled his eyes and let out an exasperated sigh. "I'm willing to bet it's going to Americ-"

"WHAT IF IT'S GOING TO BRAZIL?!" exclaimed an interrupting alien.

"OÍ RACOON EYES I WAS TALKING." Bakugou jutted his chin out angrily. He hated being out-spoken.

As the BakuSquad continued to converse about where they thought the letters were going, Midoriya and his group of friends were preoccupied with why the letters were being written in the first place.

"Maybe it's to see how good our penmanship is?" Uraraka offered.

Iida shook his head. "They have already collected our writing samples, no?"

Midoriya took a small sip out of his orange juice, then spoke.

"M-Maybe it's for us to learn about di-different cultures?"

The table nodded, considering the possibility.

"What do you think, Todoroki-Kun?"

Todoroki, being a new addition to the table, rarely talked, and if he did, it was because somebody was addressing him. To be completely honest, he was zoning out, and didn't even know the topic of the conversation, when all eyes were on him.

He wasn't exactly used to the attention on him. His palms started sweating.

"Todoroki? Why do you think they're making us write the letters?"

Thankful that Midoriya had repeated the question, he adjusted the cuffs of his sleeve.

"It shouldn't matter too much."

Midoriya scratched the nape of his neck at the nonchalant response. "Ehe, you're pro-probably right."

Momo, Jirou, Hagakure, and Tsuyu, sat at their table, quietly conversing about who the letter are going to.

"Mmm, maybe some rich guy who'll loan us some money~" Hagakure chirped, and the rest of the table laughed.

"I doubt it," Jirou countered, in between light giggles.

"Maybe it's going to a hero from another country?" Momo suggested.

"Kero, probably," agreed Tsuyu.

"Wherever it's going, I bet their in for a little surprise, kero."

About a week later, the class of 1-A were sitting in class, and strangely Aizawa was late to class.

"I wonder where Aizawa-Sensei is," Ojiro wondered out loud.

"I'm sure it's nothing serious." Shoji said from behind his mask.

As if on cue, Aizawa walked through the huge door, with a cardboard box in his arms.

Immediately, the normal chatter of the classroom ceased, as everybody looked at their homeroom teacher slam the brown box on his desk.

"Midoriya."

Adrenaline shot through said male's veins, as he sat up straight in his chair.

"S-Sir!"

"Come get your letter."

Midoriya stood silently, pushed in his chair, and approached his homeroom teachers desk.

Aizawa pulled out a yellow colored envelope from the box, and passed it to the greenette.

Midoriya took it in his hands and looked at his quizzically.

"Go back to your seat. Don't open it."

He did as told, and walked back to his desk next to Bakugou, eyeing the envelope curiously.

"Bakugou."

"Hn?"

"Come get your letter."

The ash blond did the same as Midoriya, and was given a dirty brown envelope.

"Go back to your seat, and don't open it."

"Oh, and pull up your pants young man."

Bakugou grumbled, and trudged to his seat, with his pants up.

Aizawa continued to call out names, until everybody in the classroom had an envelope.

"Hey, Teach? Why are the letter so scruffy?" Asked Kaminari, tapping his chin.

It was true, all the letter envelopes seemed to be dirty, and made with old paper.

"Find out. You may open your letters now."

Midoriya carefully opened his envelope, the inside containing a yellowed paper.

'Hello, Izuku!' It said, and Midoriya wondered why the person didn't call him by his last name, and skip the polite honorifics he'd grown accustomed to using.

'My name is Katrii Bancpass, I'm from Zimbabwe! It's very nice to meet you!'

To Midoriya, Katrii's handwriting was very difficult to understand & read, but if he squinted hard enough he could comprehend.

'I was born is Chisamba Singles. Where were you born?  Also, the paper you are writing to me on is so white, how do you do it?!'

Chisamba Singles? He'd never heard about such place. Maybe he should ask, if he has the chance to write back? Midoriya didn't quite understand the comment about the 'white paper' but he kept on reading.

'Also, it's so cool that you're going to be a hero!! I would love to be one, but I'm quirkless, and my country is too much in the dumps to pay hero's. That's why there's so much crime. I wish I had a quirk to change everything.'

'And I'm twelve, my mom says I'm too young to cause a change anyways. So for now, I'll keep working as a maid for a rich family, to support mine. They pay three Zimbabwean dollars each week, they're so generous.'

As soon as he read the word 'quirkless' his heart shattered into a million pieces. It hit him deep, he could admit.

Midoriya remembered having the type of mentality as Katrii.

And she's only twelve!? Why is she working so early in her life? Does she not have school?

It hurt him that he was as lucky as he was to find All Might.

'I am running out of space, so I guess it is time to end this letter. Goodbye, Izuku!

Greetings from Zimbabwe.'

Midoriya couldn't help but wipe a few tears away from his cheeks, even reading the short letter brought tears to his eyes.

His lip quivered. He couldn't help but think he was undeserving of his opportunity. Katrii could do so much if she had a quirk.

No, he thought, she doesn't need a quirk.

Midoriya raised his head, and stifling a gasp to see the rest of his classroom, also fighting back tears.

Even Bakugou, has a grim and upset expression on his face.

Mina was the first to speak. "W-Wow."

The 1-A door swung open to reveal All Might himself, with an equally as dejected expression.

"Your assignment of the year,"

"Help these children, and give them hope."

"I sent money to Fannie today! I hope she gets it in time for rent," Uraraka jabbered, whilst chewing on some white rice.

"Cherion says that there's a leak  in her roof," Todoroki told the group. (Everybody in said group was slightly surprised that he had voluntarily spoken, even him.)

"What should I do to help?"

Todoroki was strangely determined to help his long distance friend, Cherion.

"Send Cherion some buckets," Iida offered. "It'll help contain the water until they get their roof fixed."

Todoroki nodded, and shoved a spoonful of vanilla pudding into his mouth, internally wondering if Cherion had ever tasted the delicacy.

"So, how's Katrii, Midoriya?"

The moss-green colored haired male perked up, swallowing the liquid that was in his mouth, to show a small disappointed smile.

"She's still working to get in school. Her family's rent is rising, so she's using all the money I sent her for rent, and sending me back letters."

Uraraka frowned, the pink blush normally present on her features paled.

"I'm sure it'll get better, Deku. Katrii and her family are smart people, they'll get through it!"

Midoriya felt a slight flutter in his belly, as he genuinely believed the brunettes words.

"Uh-Uhm, so Iida how is your penpal?"

Iida flashed a boisterous grin. "Veldie is attending school!"

The table erupted in smiles, and Uraraka clapped lightly.

"I'm so happy for her!"

"And of course," Iida pulled out a piece of paper from his bag. "She managed to get a copy of her report card..!"

The blueberry haired boy showed Veldie's outstanding grades with such pride you'd think they'd be related.

The group gawked and gave yet another round of applause.

"Make sure to tell her how proud we are!!!" Uraraka smiles with rosy cheeks.
