"What do you mean, a night of firsts?" the American asked, head tilted in confusion.

"You'll find out. Now let's get going!" Russia exclaimed, opening the door to the hotel room and rushing his boyfriend out of it. The American chuckled and stumbled forward as Russia practically shoved him out of the room. The two made their way out of the hotel and onto the dark Paris streets.

"Soooooooooooo where are we going?" America questioned like an annoying child on a road trip.

"You'll find out." Russia reassured, smiling at the curious look on the American's face. He could be such a dork sometimes, Russia found it adorable. Making their way down the street, America leaned against Russia's shoulder, their fingers intertwining as they faced the summer breeze.

The two walked for a while in silence, just absorbing the beauty of the city. There was something about visiting a new country and absorbing its culture that was always painfully breathtaking. Paris was no exception.

America had never seen such beautiful, old architecture due to being such a newly developed country. All the old european styles and baroque buildings were new to him. As time passed, America realized that all of these places were filled with history that he never got to experience. It was making him feel a little existential. Russia noticed his silence and stopped for a moment, a small pout on his face as he noticed the wide-eyed look on his boyfriend's face.

"What's wrong America?" Russia questioned.

"Nothing.. It's just- everything is excruciatingly pretty. I wish I was around to enjoy more of it when it was happening. All this history happened without me and I feel a little out of it. Time is a weird concept. It makes you think. If all this glory was happening without me.. was I really necessary in the first place?" America spoke, his eyes zoning out on the ground. Russia's heart broke at his words. He never knew America felt this way.

"Of course you're necessary! Just because amazing things happened without you doesn't mean you're not worthy of existence! Without you, we wouldn't have chocolate chip cookies! The French Revolution would never have happened if you hadn't stuck up for England! We wouldn't be here in this beautiful city without you." Russia said, still in disbelief that America would say such a thing.

"Really?" America asked, snapping out of his daze to look into Russia's violet eyes.

"Of course! Are you crazy? You are incredibly important and I love you. The world wouldn't be the same without you."

"I love you too." America responded, smiling as his eyes lit up with the usual positive energy that bounced off of him. Russia noticed him smiling and wrapped his arm around the American, continuing their walk towards their destination. He had gotten surprisingly existential in a matter of second, which had really surprised the Russian. America was usually so self-confident and bold. It was surprising to see him so self-deprecating.

As the couple approached the Champ de Mars, America excitedly shot his head up from Russia's shoulder.

"That's the Eiffel Tower!" America said excitedly, pointing towards the tower across the field of grass they had approached.

"Yes, I know, I have eyes." Russia responded sarcastically, a smirk on his lips as he saw the American's jaw drop with awe. Russia knew for a fact the American had been to Paris before, but he was pretty sure he had never seen the eiffel tower at night. The sight was enchanting, the bright lights looking like stars on the Paris skyline.

"You sound like England." the American joked, shoving the Russian playfully with his arm. It was true, England always was incredibly sarcastic.

"What is this about England I hear?" the couple suddenly heard a familiar voice say. The two turned in horror to see France, standing directly behind them with a huge grin on his face. America shrieked in surprise and Russia stared, wide-eyed as the Frenchman in front of them chuckled. "You think you can get into my country without me noticing?"

"How did you find us?" America asked in shock, surprised that he had finally found them.

"Well- I had a strange feeling that someone was watching me when I was visiting Jeanne today. As soon as I left the monument I looped back around and followed you to the Louvre. How could I not follow you?" France explained.

"Have you been following us all day?" America questioned.

"Not really. After you left the Louvre I knew you were going back to your hotel so I went out and bought some roses." France explained, holding out a rose for America to take. America took it cautiously.

"Thanks?" America spoke, slightly wary at the gesture.

"Anyway, I'll let you get on with your date! I totally haven't been live-texting your entire date to the other countries or anything so dontworryaboutitbye!" France blurted, suddenly turning around with a wink, vanishing into the darkness as he skipped away like a lunatic.

"Well- that was... weird. Right?" Russia spoke, his eyebrows furrowed in confusion at the brevity of the exchange.

"Definitely. Anyway... Can we go see the tower? It's so pretty at night!" America asked, excitedly grabbing Russia's hand, the rose clutched in his other fist like a child who had been given a balloon. Russia nodded and they walked along the path, America still staring up at the sky with his jaw hanging open in amazement.

As they approached the tower, Russia took lead. Walking towards the base of the tower, he let go of the American's hand.

"Where are we going?" America asked, looking at his boyfriend in confusion. Russia simply pointed towards the tower, leaving an even more confused American to figure out what was going on. It was a solid 45 seconds of silence and staring before the American's eyes lit up.

"ARE YOU SERIOUS!? ARE WE GOING ON THE TOWER?! IS THAT EVEN LEGAL!?" America yelled, excitedly grabbing onto his boyfriends coat, bouncing up and down as Russia laughed at his cute boyfriend.

"Ever heard of Jules Verne?" Russia asked with a pleased smile on his face.

"NO DUDE! SHE'S PROBABLY REALLY COOL THOUGH!" America yelled again. Russia laughed at him before telling him to be quiet.

"First of all, Jules Verne was not a she. Second of all, we're going to a restaurant called Le Jules Verne. It's on the second floor of the tower." Russia explained as America clung onto his jacket, clinging onto every word he said.

"You're so cool!" America exclaimed happily, suddenly leaning in to kiss his boyfriend. Russia chuckled before embracing his energetic boyfriend. Russia wasn't so used to PDA so when America's lips crashed onto his he immediately turned bright red. After America pulled aka, Russia's face was still bright red and he was slightly panting at the American's eagerness. America's kisses were like little gifts from heaven. Each one softer, yet more enthusiastic than the previous, and filled with so much love and passionate energy. Russia was still baffled at how he spent so many years hating the man he now loved so much.

After Russia got over his little blushing fit, he grabbed his boyfriend's hand again and dragged him towards the elevator. Making their way up to the restaurant, the two knew it was going to be a special night. Russia marveled at the American's astounded face staring at the ground as they lifted into the air towards the restaurant. As soon as the elevator stopped at the floor, America rushed out to see the view. An incredible sense of adventure running through his veins as he peered over the edge to see the city of Paris. The sight was numinous, and even though Russia had probably seen it a hundred times, it was still breathtaking. After a couple minutes of tranquil silence and staring at the beautiful city with wide-eyes, Russia had to pry America away from the ledge and into the restaurant.

As they sat down in the fancy restaurant, Russia could tell America was still captivated from the sight of the city and was a little disappointed he didn't have the time to stay longer.

"You know.. we can go back outside after we eat." Russia spoke, reassuring the American that he would be able to see the bright sights of the city for longer. America immediately smiled and looked out the window, still mesmerized by the sight.

"I love you so much."

"I love you too."

AIGHT FAM. (I HAVEN EDITED THIS AT ALL SO IF THERE ARE ANY MISTAKES ILL FIX THEM LATER) So the next chapter will (most likely) be the lemon chapter. I'll warn you all in advance, yada yada etc. etc. I promise there will be absolutely 0 important plot points so that if you don't want to read it you really don't have to, you won't be missing anything. I will also most likely upload two chapters on that day so that anyone who doesn't want to read the smut will be able to read another fluffy chapter.
