Angel and I sat down at the dining room table. While I soaked my pancakes with syrup, Angel packed on some peanut butter and jelly. She folded it like a taco, and ate it.
She looks up at me as she chews the bite, stopping when she caught my eye. "What?" She asks while I realized she had some peanut butter on the corner of her lips. "You're adorable, come here." I chuckled as I held my hand out for her. She scoots closer, letting me wipe the peanut butter off her lip. I wiped it on a napkin before digging into my own breakfast.

After we finished signing all the paperwork, Angel and I did dishes together. "Do you think we'll have cute kids?" Angel playfully asks.
"Woah, Buddy! Chill out!" I loudly laughed as I reached around her and placed the plate where it's supposed to. "I meant in the future, weirdo."
"How long in the future we talking?" I asked her as she handed me a pan to dry. "I dunno, 2 to three years?" She suggests. "As long as it's after high school, I'm good." I chuckled as I dried the pan and sat it next to me. Angel handed me one last pan before unplugging the sink. She leans against the counter as she watches me dry the dish.
"So, what should we do today, princess?" I asked. She shrugs as a car pulls up. Leaving the kitchen area, I walked up the window and watched whoever it was come out of the car. My breath hitches as I watched him get out.
"Go upstairs." I told Angel. "What?"
"Go upstairs!" I shouted as jaw clenched. Angel, frightened, jogged up the stairs. Pulling a shirt on, I met him outside.
"Josh!" My dad exclaimed before attempting to hug me. My parents had divorced when I was a toddler, but my grandma had told me some stories about him that made me hate him.
"Please don't touch me." I brushed him off. He was taken aback, but pulled away. "What're you doing here?" I scowled. "Is your mom home?" He asks, disregarding my question. "Business trip." I briefly answered. "And she leaves you here alone?" He asks as he looked up at the large house. He hasn't been here in years.
"I'm not alone." I crossed my arms. "Oh, who's here?" He asks, gesturing to Angel's car. "My wife." I plainly said. He was taken aback once again, obviously not expecting me to be married.
"You're seventeen!" He exclaimed, taking on a roll he doesn't deserve.
"You have no right to try and walk in and be my father again! You left us, you left me! You know what that doesn't to a kid? Seeing your friends with both of their parents on Family day in kindergarten when I only had mom? You know how that feels? It feels miserable! I was miserable!" I snapped. He looked down at his feet. "I came back to try and get you guys back." He whispers.
"You can't just do that. Grandma told me what you've done." I scowled. "She's never liked me. She's told your mom lies about me ever since she caught me and your mom-. Never mind." He explains. Although I didn't want to trust him, I had a feeling I probably should. "She doesn't like you?" I softly asked.
"She didn't like how Laura and I got together. It was at a party-."
"Save the details, I don't want to know that." I chuckled. My dad took that as a good sign, and straightened his posture.
"How about you come inside? We can talk more, and you can meet Angel." I smiled softly. As much as I wanted to hate him, he seemed like he wanted to get to know me, even if it was many years late.
He nods. "I'd like that." He smiles. I can see where I got my smile from now. Nodding, I lead him into the house. "I'll go and get Angel, I'll be right back." I briefly smiled before going upstairs.
"Babe?" I called out as I entered my room. She looks up her spot on the floor with my electric guitar in her hands. She had gotten dressed in an outfit that fit her personality perfectly.
"I had to calm my self down. I was scared." She softly says as she stands up and places the guitar on the bed. "It's my dad. My grandma told me some things about him, and I never asked my mom if it was true or not." I sighed as I walked into her arms. She stands on her tiptoes despite me leaning down as much as I could. To calm me down, she runs her fingers through my hair.
"Um, do you want to meet him?" I asked as I pulled away. She returns to her normal height as she looks up at me. Angel softly nods before following me downstairs.
We entered the kitchen to see my dad looking at the photos he's missed. Angel stands behind me, but holds onto my bicep. "Um, this is Angel. Angel, this is my dad." I introduced. My dad spins around and shows a comforting smile to Angel. Angel relaxes and brushes past me to shake his hand. "Nice to meet you." She smiles.
"You can call me Taylor." He softly smiles. "Um, I'm going to let you two catch up. I'm going to go run those papers to the realtor." Angel assures me as she walks back over to where I was. "Alright, I love you. Drive safe." I told her before leaning down and kissing her. She smiles into the kiss before pulling away and grabbing her keys. "I love you!" She calls out as she opens the door and leaves.
"You guys are perfect for each other." My dad says as we sat down in the living room. "Yeah, she's adorable." I blushed as she pulled out of the driveway.
"Anyways, can you explain to me what really happened?"
