She Said "I'll Rest a Little While."
TIME SKIP
"Guys, can you believe there's still two more months before school starts?! It feels like it's been a century already!" Papy said, flopping over sideways and curling into a whiny skeleton ball.
We were all sitting on Papyrus' bedroom floor, in our swimsuits. Dad said he would take us to Waterfall after he finished creating the blueprints for another one of his thingy-mabobbers.
We were going to play in Sansy's bedroom, but it seemed like it had gotten ten times messier than the last time we were in there (which was yesterday).
"Aw, c'mon, Pap! It's summer! You should be enjoying it. The first day of school will be here in the blink of an eye socket. I promise!" I reassured him, pulling him back up to a sitting position.
"Well, I dunno if we should be so excited. A monster from western Snowdin was talking to me about school. He's in junior high, and he was telling me all about how bad it is..." Sans explained.
I threw my hands down into my criss-cross-applesauce lap.
"Well, that's guy must be stupid! School is gonna be the funnest thing ever! We are gonna sing songs, play games, and we even get to color pictures!"
"Yeah, but we can do all that stuff at home, sis."
"So what, brother? I'm sure we will meet lots of new friends, and do lots of totally cool things!" Pap said, agreeing with me.
"I'm still not convinced."
Sansy crossed his arms and shook his head slightly. I knew how to handle this...
"There are gonna be snacks, Sans. Lots of 'em."
The room got so quiet, I swear you could've heard a pin drop.
"...Why didn't you just say that earlier? School sounds not-so-sucky anymore!" He said, laughing.
After a little more chatter, we heard Lucy call for us from downstairs.
We glided down the staircase and grabbed our coats. We sat down on the last step and began slipping on our snow boots. Even though it was summer, it was still incredibly cold in Snowdin. That's why we have to get all bundled up on the way to Waterfall, where it's actually warm.
After we were all warm and ready, we stepped out into the crisp, cold, winter/summer air.
We crunched through the snow together, passing the little shed next to the house. At one point in the trip, the wind picked up, and icy gusts were stabbing me from every direction.
My teeth chattered as the wind blew me backwards. Luckily, Dad noticed my troubles, and put me on his shoulders. I peeked down from inside my jacket hood and saw Sans, who looked up at me. I waved at him, and he waved back with that grin that never seems to leave.
Up ahead, Papyrus was racing through the snow, skipping and jumping, and making it quite difficult for everyone to catch up to him. That is, until he slipped on the ice and ended up sliding ten feet on his butt. He quickly jumped back to his feet, wiped off his pants, and sped forward again. Even though he's clumsy, he sure is determined.
After a few more moments of walking, we were greeted by the entrance of a stony cave. I had never been here before, but it sure was pretty!
I was skeptical of entering, since it appeared incredibly dark, but I really didn't mind, because my faithful family was going in with me. I think Papyrus may have seen my fear peeking through, because he called up to me sweetly.
"Verdi? It will be alright! It is Sans and I's first time here, as well!" He grinned.
I felt my spirits rise, but immediately drop as we ducked into the cavern. My eyes clamped closed, but I was able to feel a blast of warm, steamy air.
It was pleasant, almost like the aroma of swimming pools and summertime. I reluctantly lifted my eyelids, expecting to be greeted by nothing but grim darkness, but... I was welcomed by a gorgeous dim glow of blue. It was almost like an aura I would see in a dream.
A/N
Hey y'all!
I'm super duper sorry this chapter took a century to come out! With finals, and other state testing thingies I have been really off my updating schedule (even though it doesn't really even exist :D).
Well, it is officially 1:25 in the morning as I am writing this, and I am sitting in the house of @sweatshirtallen - a person I tolerate, I guess... ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) - eating defected gummy bears, and updating my books. Today was a good day, and you know what else is good? Q/A's!
I got to thinking, and I feel like since you guys are absolutely amazing for reading and commenting on how you enjoy the book or would stop what you were doing, just to read this (which absolutely warms my heart,) you guys should get to ask me things! Anything is fine, really: my name, what fandoms, languages I speak, or whatever! I'm up for anything, because you all deserve it! I'll be waiting... And I will post my answers in the A/N of the next chap!
Peace out!!
