Blue Lips, Blue Veins.
BOOM! CRRRACK!
I shot under the blankets, trembling. I peeked my eyes above the covers slightly, before a flash of bright light sent be diving back under again. What was this?!
BOOM!
I squeaked, my trembling became more intense. The noises were getting louder! Was it a thunder storm?
BOOOOM!
I can't take this anymore! I flung my legs over the side of the bed and sped down the hallway, stopping at a door covered in miscellaneous stickers and a sign that read-
PAPYRUS'Z TOTALLY KOOL ROOM!
NO UNKOOL PEOPLE ALOWD!
This must be Pap's room. I turned the handle slightly before dashing through the doorway and locking it behind me.
I looked around the room. There was a bookshelf filled with stories and puzzle books, a red racecar bed, and a train table. I shuffled over to the bed, poking one of the blankets.
"Pap? I'm scared! Can I sleep in here with you?"
No response.
"Papy?"
I pulled the blanket down, but there was no skeleton. Where was he?
CRRRACK!
I jumped at the loud noise and flash of light. Along with that, I heard a thud. It came from the corner? It was too dark and shadowy there, so I couldn't see anything.
I slowly moved toward the source of the thud.
"H-hello?"
BOOOOM!
In the quick flash, I saw a pile of blankets shaking like a leaf. The pile made another thud after the noise, along with a quiet whimper.
I finally reached the blanket heap, and slowly grabbed it, yanking it up. In the dim light, I saw a huddled, and very frightened Papyrus, looking up at me.
"V-Verdi!?" he whimpered.
"Papy! I'm scared-" He pulled me down next to him, and held me close.
Out of fear, I wrapped my arms around him and latched on tight, like he was going to fly away if I didn't.
"This storm is the worstest one ever! I keep seeing spooky shadows on the walls and the noises are really loud. I'm real scared, Verdana!" he cried.
"It's okay, Pap, that's why I came in here!" I comforted.
"Really? Well, let's be scared together." Pap suggested, hugging me tighter.
"Sounds good."
After a while of remaining snuggled up in the corner, the storm seemed to calm down. Papyrus started talking to me puzzles and games, and we talked about how hard the junior jumble was.
"Yeah! My brother and I race to finish them, and he always beats me. It's just so hard to find some of the words." Pap pouted.
"I agree. Sometimes, it takes me a long time to find some of the-"
CRRRRRRRRRACCCCKKKKK!
"AHHH!" The skeleton and I screamed in unison.
The floor seemed to shake as the the sound flooded through the room.
"We should go get Sans! He is much braver than me. I'm sure he could protect us!" Papy said, trembling against me.
"What about Gaster and Lucy?" I asked.
"Daddy always gets home late, so Mommy says to let him sleep. I wish we could get him, though." Pap frowned.
Suddenly, he leapt up and grabbed my hand. He pulled me to my feet and, quite literally, dragged me out the door.
"Come on, Verdi! We gotta get Sans!" he whispered, darting down the hallway.
We reached a door at the end of the hall with no stickers or signs. Papy saw me examining it and decided to explain.
"Oh, my brother is too lazy to put any cool stickers on his door."
Made sense.
He grabbed the handle with his right hand, since he was holding my hand in his left, and burst into the room.
He shut the door behind him, and the room suddenly went quiet. This room was incredibly messier than Pap's, with papers and mix-match clothes thrown around the floor.
On the bed, we heard faint snoring. Is Sansy really sleeping through this storm?!
Pap pulled me up onto the bed.
"I'm gonna need your help waking him. He's a real heavy sleeper." Papyrus explained, nudging his brother's jacket-covered shoulder.
Pap tried this method for a while, but didn't get any good results. I lightly shoved Papy over, and began to vigorously shake my lazy brother.
"Sansy, wake up! There's a scary storm!" I whispered loudly.
After a few moments, Sans' eyes fluttered open and he sat up.
"Huh? What storm?" He mumbled, groggily.
BOOOOM!
Pap jumped and grabbed at my oversized sweater, I jumped and grabbed at Sans' jacket, and Sans jumped and grabbed onto my oversized sweater, as well.
Soon, we were all huddled in a group sitting against the wall in Sans' bed, grabbing onto each other. Papy and I resumed our tight hug from earlier, but now with Sans. I buried my face in his blue jacket.
"Hey guys, how about I lightning the mood?" Sans joked.
I looked at him and giggled, but Papyrus obviously wasn't amused.
"Sans! This isn't a good time!" he huffed.
"Aw, come on Pap! Don't steal my thunder!" he chuckled.
I laughed a little harder.
"THAT WAS HORRIBLE!" Papy groaned.
His reaction made my laugh really hard. I was at the brim of tears, as I laid my head on Sans' shoulder and squeezed Pap's hand.
"Well, I guess if it makes Verdi feel better, I'll allow it this time." Pap smiled.
"At least you like my jokes, Dani..." Sans replied.
"Its true! She's the only one who does."
"You know you love 'em." Sans argued.
"I don't, and I never ever will!" Pap huffed.
I found it ammusing to listen to them bicker. I found it cute how they fought, but you could still tell that they cared about each other, and that they cared about me.
"I love my brothers." I thought, as I slowly drifted off to sleep.
