And All The Gods And All The Worlds
Verdana's P.O.V.
I was so comfortable in his arms. I smiled at the man and he smiled at me. His face showed hints of relief and joy, and I was so excited to be here. I looked at the woman, who was giggling and clasping her pale hands against her chest. These people were so nice!
"Well, I suppose you will need a place to sleep?" Lucida spoke, "Luckily, we have a spare bedroom down the upstairs hall. I shall go prepare it for you!"
She hurried up the stairs, and quickly disappeared into a room on the far left of the hallway, past three other doors.
To be honest, I had completely forgotten what had happened to me before now. Where was I before this? Who was with me? I had no clue, and quiet frankly, I didn't care. What I had now was just great. These people were going to raise me, and I was just fine with that, but...
My wish never changed. That was the only thing that hadn't floated away from my memory.
I was zoned out completely, until I heard quiet footsteps coming from the stairs. Was Lucida back already? The man turned toward the staircase, turning me with him.
"Daddy?" a small voice asked.
It came from a small boy with light rosy cheeks, contrasting greatly with his pale skin. He wore a wooly, orange sweater, and race car pajama pants, clutching a small teddy bear. He looked about my age.
He rubbed his eyes, before looking at me.
"Daddy, who's that?" he said, focusing on me.
The man grinned at me, placing me back on the floor.
"Pap, this is your new sister." he chuckled.
My eyes grew wide. I was his sister? Sister. He... He was my brother! I had a brother! I could hardly contain my excitement. I ran over to him and looked at him, giggling the entire time.
He froze for a moment, before smiling wildly and tackling me in a hug.
"Sister! Sister!" he laughed, "Wowie, I've got a sister!"
"Careful, Papyrus! You don't wanna strangle Verdana!" Gaster chuckled.
I hugged back as hard as I could. This was the best day ever! My wish came true! We we're laughing in unison, probably making such a ruckus, but I didn't have a care in the world. I had a brother to call my own!
He pulled out of the hug and looked at me. He was clearly just as happy as I was.
"Verdana? Can I call you Verdi? It's more funner to say!" Papyrus asked me.
"Okay! As long as I can call you Papy!" I bartered.
He nodded quickly, and hugged me again.
"You're nice, Verdi."
We were interrupted by footsteps on the stairs, again. It was Lucida.
"Lucy! Lucy! I have a brother!" I shouted as ran towards her. She smiled at me.
"Lucy?" she questioned.
"Uh huh! Me and Papy gave each other nicknames, so I gave you one, too!"
"That's very cute. Thank you, Verdana." she said.
Papy ran up behind me and grabbed my hand. His was cold and smooth. It was a little strange, but it felt nice.
"I'm glad you and Pap have already met." she announced, looking at the man.
She turned back toward the top of the stairs, talking quietly to someone. I couldn't see who, because Lucy was blocking my view them. After a few moments, I heard slow, soft footsteps moving down the stairs.
Lucy moved across to the banister, and then I saw him. A small boy, a little shorter than Pap, shuffling down the stairs. He had on a blue t-shirt, and basketball shorts, and had light pink slippers. I liked them.
When he reached the bottom step, he hopped down onto the floor and stared at me.
"Who are you?" he asked, narrowing his eyes at me, studying me from head to toe.
"Sans, this is our new sister, Verdana! I like to call her Verdi." Pap explained, rocking back and forth on his feet, grinning at me.
Wait a minute. Papyrus had another sibling? I have TWO brothers!? My heart wanted to leap out of my chest. I was frozen in place. I was so shocked, that I couldn't move. Wow. Two brothers!
"Sister? We have a sister?" Sans asked, moving toward Papy.
His eyes were wide and he probably looked about as shocked as me. Pap nodded, looking at me again. Sans peered at me again for a while. The whole room was silent. Suddenly, Sans grinned.
"Heh. How are ya, new sis?" He leaned forward and hugged me.
"Great, Sansy!"
He laughed against my shoulder. I liked nicknames.
He pulled away, keeping his hands on my shoulders.
"Pap calls you Verdi?" he asked.
I nodded.
"Hmm. I like Dani better. Can I call you that instead, sis?"
I smiled at him, then he pulled me in for another hug.
His hugs were a lot gentler and lazier than Papyrus', but they still meant a lot. Just then, the man spoke.
"Come here, boys. I need to tell you something very important." Gaster said.
Papy, Sansy, and Lucy crossed over to Gaster, leaving me alone at my place by the stairs.
Lucida stood nearby them, beaming down at me.
"Listen, boys. I know this is quite sudden, but I want you to treat Verdana well. No matter what. Do you understand?" He instructed.
My brothers looked at each other, then back at Gaster.
"Of course, dad!" they said in unison.
They turned around together and looked at me.
As I gazed at the four of them, a word popped into my head. I don't know where I learned it, or why it came to mind, but it seemed to make sense. It seemed right.
Skeleton.
I smiled. This was my new home. This was my new family. This was my new destiny.
