Walk in the Park

It was simple. You decided to walk around and just do whatever was going on nearby. Different games were happening in different rooms and you could use parts of your abilities in them without making it obvious what your devil fruit was. You were leaving people baffled left and right.

At first, many onlookers had you pegged as someone with a super strength devil fruit. You were able to channel your partial transformations well and could use the dragon strength without leaving too much of a hint that you had a zoan ability. Doing just your hands, you could lift a fully grown man without breaking a sweat. That was actually one of the smaller games going on, literally lifting people.

Kid got a kick out of it while Killer looked on like some proud parent. When you asked to join in, the group of muscle bound men participating scoffed at you, sure a petite little woman couldn't pick up anything heavier than a glass of wine. Some even laughed like it was a joke.

Their humor died quickly when the person overseeing it let you give it a shot. You ended up picking up one of the biggest looking participants and held him over your head like a prize. His mass hid your hand well. While you had good control over the transformations, some things you couldn't hide. You could keep the feathers at bay, but the yellow talons your fingers changed into would be hard to miss.

From there, you went from one room to another, Kid and Killer at your back like a couple of well dressed body guards. Some faces in the throngs of people began to look familiar as the night wore on. You were beginning to catch the attention of some folks and they were trying to watch everything you did, just as you wanted.

"Oh you have to do that." Killer loomed over your shoulder and pointed to a little set up off to the side.

The room you were in was rearranged for the night. Cool marble floors were once covered by rugs that had been rolled up and propped against walls. Furniture lined the room and left space in the middle for what Killer was pointing to. You giggled.

"That's hardly fair."

"No, but it'd be hilarious to watch them try to figure you out." Kid nodded towards the group of people obviously following you, watching your every move.

"You're not wrong."

"C'mon, let's give it a shot." Killer linked his arm with yours and marched further into the room.

It was warmer the closer you got to the center of the room, but that was because of the little event. They'd put a full on, long firewalk in the room. And it wasn't just smoldering coal, no, a guy walked by it on occasion, pouring lighter fluid over it all to get some decent flames going. A few people were debating giving it a shot while some others stood at the end of it in obvious pain, having done it but not without regretting it.

"Is the gentleman wanting to give this a try?" The man overseeing the room's activities asked. There was at least one person like him in every room. All of them dressed in the same black suit with red ties.

"No." Killer grinned at you. "But she does."

"Oh." He couldn't keep the surprise out of his voice but he dipped his head down in a small bow. "My apologies for the assumption." He made room for you and just like that, your curious onlookers had doubled. Those who were previously debating were now waiting to see how you'd do.

Killer held a hand out for your shoes and you handed them over, immediately missing the few extra inches of height they gave you.

"I'll be at the end." He sauntered away and you waited until he was leaning against the far wall before heading across.

Being fireproof had its perks. While the fire would have burned anyone else, it simply warmed the soles of your feet. Others standing nearby had sweat rolling down under their collars, a few loosened their ties in sad attempts to cool off. It felt nice to you, the one person standing directly in the flames. It was like when you pull a blanket straight from the dryer and wrap up in it. Toasty and oh, so comfy.

You had the skirt of your dress gathered up in one hand, watching where you stepped simply so you could avoid singing the material. Halfway across, Killer made you pause.

"Doesn't that painting look familiar Blue?" He asked, pointing to a wall of small art pieces.

You had stopped dead in your tracks and smiled when you noticed the one he was talking about. It was the one you'd stolen with him.

"Huh, so this is where that ended up."

"Crazy, right?"

People were sweating even harder than before and it had nothing to do with the temperature. A few were making hand motions for you to keep going, like it was paining them to see you just standing on hot coals like that.

"Watch your dress love." Killer said with a smile.

"Whoops, good catch." You giggled and walked across the rest of the way. Some of the flames were getting close to your dress while you weren't paying attention.

There were cries of frustration from your little entourage when they saw you step away, unscathed. It was fun keeping them on their toes.

"Main event starts soon." Kid noted gruffly. He was sitting in a nearby couch, hunched over and tapping one foot on the floor impatiently.

"We'll head over to that then." You sat by him and took your shoes back when Killer offered them.

When you bent over to put them on, you were met with a chorus of wolf whistles. You sat up straight, blushing and trying to figure out why all the men in the room were suddenly very delighted. You were careful and sat so you wouldn't flash them.

"Your tits." Kid snickered, noticing your confusion. "They all got a nice view of your cleavage."

You glared at him, not appreciating him calling your breasts "tits." "At the rate all of you are going, barbeque is going to be on the menu tonight."

"Seconded." Killer growled.

He kneeled in front of you, taking your heels back and putting them on for you. While the whole ordeal embarrassed you, he wasn't happy with everyone else catching a glimpse. He really did have a jealous side.

"We ready to go finish this up? I could use some food and sleep after this." You said wistfully.

"We'll get you whatever you want when you kick ass at the maze run." Kid got up and began making his way out.

"You think he'll mind fries in the car on the way home?" You asked Killer.

"Nah, the seats are leather anyway, easy cleaning."

"Yessssss. Maze run then a fast food run."

----

You thought the mansion was packed but when you made it outside to the "backyard" you were able to fully appreciate the amount of people this whole party brought together. While Kid only brought along you and Killer, other gangs brought along much of their crews. Some of the smaller ones brought literally their entire teams. Leaders kept their most trusted nearby and gave the rest free reign to wander about and enjoy everything.

But with the run only minutes away, the lawn was flooded with the entirety of the party. In front of the mass of people was a few different TV's, all showing different views from cameras placed around the maze. The maze itself was a good old fashioned hedge maze. It was huge, spanning a few acres and full to the brim with flowers of all shapes and sizes.

You'd gone through a whole process of getting registered for this and were standing at the maze entrance with Killer, separate from the main crowd but surrounded by the other contestants. The full rules hadn't been explained yet but there were a few you already had to go over during registration.

The race had to be done in teams of two, one person to actually run it and a second for outside guidance. There was only one team allowed per gang and anyone else had to stay with the crowd by the screens. Kid was pissed about being sent away but Killer would be a better teammate. You still didn't like working with others but he was levelheaded and you'd worked with him before. They'd set you up with an earpiece and gave Killer what looked like a walkie talkies and an envelope. He was told not to open it until the race started and you were betting it had a map in there.

Everyone was hyped with hopes of winning. This was the only event of the night with an actual prize on the line and rumor was it'd be a huge sum of money. Win a race and pay the bills for the entire crew for a while. Sounded good to you.

"Welcome to the biggest event of the year!"

There was thunderous applause as a man stepped up onto a pedestal by the maze entrance. Cameras focused on him but he wasn't all that important. He was dressed like the rest of the attendants, black suit, red tie. Whoever put this together liked to stay anonymous.

"We'd like to thank all you lovely folks for making it here and staying up until this last little game of ours. Now," He waited until the masses had quieted down before continuing. "I know you're all ready for this to begin but first there are a few rules that need to be addressed."

The screens switched from the camera views of the maze to the group of contestants. You didn't like seeing yourself in the mix, blown up and put on display for everyone to see. There were literally no other women in the contest so it was just you and a bunch of muscle bound men.

"Our wonderful contestants here are made up of teams of two, the runner and the guardian. The runner's job is to make it to the end of the maze and collect their prize shown here."

The screens switched to another new view. This time of a large, open space in the maze. In it's center was an ornate water fountain. A marble woman had an urn held loosely to one hip, letting the water pour out into the fountain, while she held her other arm up, displaying a single large feather. A familiar looking one.

"Killer is that....?"

"One of our guests had anonymously, and very generously I might add, donated this year's prize! A feather from the dragon itself!"

There was a collection of excited murmurs from the people around you. Killer was smiling away the whole time. He knew about it of course. You weren't angry, but you got the message Kid had set up for you.

"Whoever collects it will also earn a cash prize, so keep on your toes if you're looking for a payday! Now, the second half of our teams, the guardians. Your job is to guide the runners through the maze as quickly as possible with what we have provided you with. Each of you should have an envelope that you will be allowed to open when your runners head in. And lastly, a few things to keep this fair. Guardians will keep from any physical violence among themselves or their team will be disqualified. Runners! Fighting is allowed but destruction of the hedges is not, those are hard to replace."

That earned a few laughs and chuckles.

"You will not jump on or over the hedges either. And while killing is discouraged, it won't be considered against the rules though I ask you please refrain from doing so unless absolutely necessary. With that being said," He raised a small pistol pointing the muzzle skyward. "You may begin!"

The gun went off with a nice bang and the screens flicked back the their original view of the many cameras in the maze simultaneously. Killer pushed a hand between your shoulders and yelled to be heard over the sudden roar of the people.

"Go get that feather back!"

He got a few looks with that comment but you were already kicking off your shoes and sprinting into the maze. The time for being delicate was over, you'd hinted enough throughout the night and now it was time to get serious.

Everyone else had longer legs than you and weren't in a dress so they had no problem getting ahead of you. That was fine. Getting into a fight right off the bat wouldn't be a good idea. The rest of them could tussle while you figured out where to go.

There was a pop from your ear piece and then the wonderful rumble of Killer's voice.

"Tell me where you've gone so far."

"Um," You paused for a second, retracing your steps in your head. "First right, a left, and second left."

"Okay, double back and take a right and another left."

You started off with his directions, confident he could read a map as fast as you could run.

"Question, can you breathe fire without a full transformation?"

"Haven't tried." You huffed. "But I can assume it wouldn't be easy. Where next?"

"Two rights."

There was the sound of fighting a little off in the distance but you were focused.

"In theory, I could try but my fuel comes from a totally different organ. I'd have to make that 'grow' so to speak, and then I think I could."

"Left and a right next. And give that a shot when you run into someone. I think you could do small, controlled fires then. Keep the place from burning down and be able to stay on the move."

"Okay."

He continued to give you directions and everything seemed to turn into a blur. In some places, the hedges grew close together, barely giving you enough room to run through. In others, there was enough space for you to go full dragon and be able to fight. Little lights lined the bottoms of the hedges, offering some guidance and color to the otherwise dark maze.

Sometimes you could hear others moving nearby, separated by the walls of greenery. You were always prepared to run into someone each time you heard any sound that you didn't make. And you were proud to say you were damn quiet. Your bare feet practically slid across the damp grass and your breathing was controlled. Besides you whispering answers to Killer now and then, you were as stealthy as they came.

That was until you skidded to a stop in front of your first challenge. Killer had accidentally led you to a dead end, but you weren't the only one. Standing in front of you, grumbling angrily, was the green haired man. Zoro.

He locked eyes with you, unsheathing one of the swords at his hip and you tensed up.

"I'm not in the mood to deal with small fry." He growled.

"Good." You smiled and rolled up your sleeves, showing off feathers and talons. "That makes two of us."

And you lunged.
