For Art

(A/n)
This is currently my favorite fanart of Killer thus far. I like to imagine that he pulls silly shenanigans like this in his free time.

"Oh my God you have too much fucking hair." You groaned.

Killer had you helping him put his very thick hair up in a ponytail so he could shove it under his hood. There were cameras around the outside of the building and you wanted to do everything you could to avoid being identifiable. You'd already found a blind spot in the cameras but you could never be too careful.

"You're just jealous your's can't compete." He said, grinning at you over his shoulder.

"Mine's not bad..."

"Never said it was." He stood up from his spot on a bench when you finally had it in the ponytail. "Let's go, we've got a wall to scale."

The blind spot wasn't near any windows or doors, hence why it was left blind. No one was worried about people getting in right there because that wasn't possible as far as they knew. But both you and Killer were sure you could get up. There was a patch of ivy growing up the side that was firmly latched to the building and above that was a light pole sticking out. A few feet above that was the lip of the roof. The whole museum was built a bit strangely. The closer to the center you got, the taller it was until it reached three floors.

The lip you were going for would get you on top of the first and you'd have to climb further to get to the second where you'd drop in from a window and find the painting. The second and third floor windows weren't alarmed funny enough. Security must have thought no one would come in from those floors.

Ivankov didn't have an exact location of where the painting would be displayed, all he knew was it was supposed to be somewhere on the second floor. He'd shown you what you were looking for and assured you it was small enough to fit in a bag. So, you'd brought along your messenger bag. It'd leave your hands open for emergencies.

When you reached the spot, hoods pulled up to hide your faces, Killer motioned for you to go first. You were lighter it made sense to have you test it out and get going before him. There was always the possibility that he was too heavy for the plants to hold his weight, even if it was for a short period of time. You grabbed a handful of the vines and hoisted yourself up. They held on like you weren't even there and you got up easily.

After you had gotten onto the light post, Killer followed suit. You could see he had to work harder to avoid yanking vines loose and keep from falling. All that muscle was going against him now. By the time you'd pulled yourself up onto the roof, he was frowning from the effort and had managed to get to the light pole. A couple minutes later and he joined you on the roof.

"That looked hard. Maybe you should lose a few pounds there big guy." You said, voice dripping with sarcasm.

"Would you believe me if I said I'm the smallest of my friends?" He was eyeing the wall that would lead in to the second floor.

Windows were few and far in between and to your dismay, they didn't open from the outside. You didn't know why you expected them to.

"That's a scary thought." You replied.

"Yeah, they're a bunch of tall motherfuckers."

"So how do we want to get in? The windows aren't an option."

"Vents."

"Sorry?"

"The vents." He pointed to the second story roof. "You should be able to fit. Get in and unlock one of these windows for me."

You debated it for a second before deciding there were no other options. None that wouldn't lead to security knowing you were there at least.

"Okay, how do I get up there then?" This wall would be a challenge to climb. It was completely smooth with no handholds in sight.

"That part's easy." Killer backed up to the wall and crouched down a bit, lacing his fingers together to create a foothold. "I'll give you a boost."

You had to admit, you probably wouldn't have been able to make it any further than this if you were by yourself. But you didn't like needing someone there to help you. You liked having to get touchy with him even less. The job wasn't going to finish itself though.

You nodded and placed a hand on each of his shoulders as you stepped into his hands. He pushed you up like there was nothing lighter and you snagged onto the lip of the wall, feeling him nudge at your feet to help you from slipping and falling. As soon as you were up, you located the vent opening poking out of the roof further off.

"Okay, I'll be back whenever." You said, tossing your bag down to him for safe keeping and headed to the vent.

Its cover was screwed in place and while you didn't have any tools on you, you had your talons. Killer couldn't see you so you had no problem doing a partial transformation to get the job done. As soon as the last screw was removed and you had it tugged free, you set it to the ground carefully and peered in.

The movies liked to make it seem like the vents were crisp and clean. That was not the case. These were lined with dust and cobwebs and you were cringing at having to get the brand new hoodie dirty already. But it had to be done. You took a deep breath, reminding yourself how good the pay was going to be, and wiggled your way in.

There was enough room for you to army crawl your way through without a hassle, but turning around would be impossible. Your first hurdle was you didn't know the guards' routes or if they even had any. You'd have to find a spot to drop in and hope no one was close enough to see or hear you. It made you question why this job couldn't wait a day or two so you could scout the place out and plan something better. But Killer insisted on doing it tonight and for some ungodly reason, Ivankov agreed sooner was better.

The second problem was the windows were high up, you'd have to climb something to get to them. You were noticing a theme with this job so far. A lot more climbing than you'd done on all your jobs combined up until now. Being able to fly had spoiled you.

After a few minutes of crawling through the vents, you started to break out into a sweat. The enclosed space was warm and your jacket didn't make it any better. You were panting lightly, trying to calm your breathing so no one would hear you. But as time went, it was more then just the heat that had you feeling uncomfortable. The space seemed like it was closing in on you slowly and each breath in dragged old dust into your throat.

You never thought yourself claustrophobic, but you were definitely feeling it now. Illogical panic started to worm its way into your guts and you struggled with yourself not to scramble to the nearest opening into the museum. You forced yourself to pause at it, trembling fingers dancing across the metal, just begging for you to let them free you of the tight space.

Still, you waited and listened for footsteps, watched for the beam of a flashlight. You made yourself stay put and wait for some minutes but they felt like hours to you. As soon as you were sure no one was going to come by, you fumbled for the latch of the vent and slowly undid it. You were careful enough to hold onto the grating to keep it from swinging down and rattling.

When you had lowered yourself down and hit the floor with a light thud, you felt your heart begin to settle and your arms started to shake a little less. You felt like you weren't far from that turning into a full blown panic attack and were glad you were out of there. Next time someone told you to fit your smaller self into a confined space, you'd tell them to shove their suggestion up their ass. That wasn't happening again.

At least you had dropped somewhat near a window. It was positioned between two huge paintings and under a bench. That'd be a nice little boost up. After giving yourself a second to collect yourself, you quietly walked up to the bench and stepped up it. But when you stretched to the window, the sill was just out of reach, a hairs breath away. You'd need to jump.

You cursed your luck and glanced around the room before jumping and grasping at the ledge. There was a bit of noise made as you leapt but it wasn't as loud as it would have been if you missed the sill. You pulled yourself up far enough to reach the latch and pushed it to the side, unlocking the window. At the slight click it made, Killer came up from the other side, smiling away at your success.

As soon as you had tapped it open enough for him to get a grip, Killer pulled the window open and slid in, waiting until you'd lowered yourself back to the bench before handing over your bag and motioning for you to follow.

"The art is usually organized to keep similar artists from similar periods together." You whispered to him.

"So? We don't know anything about this painting except what it looks like."

You rolled your eyes and tugged his sleeve as he tried to keep going. "It's an impressionistic piece, it'll be lumped together with artists like Monet."

"How the hell do you know that?"

"I studied some art history before."

He stared at you like you were speaking Latin or something. It made you start to blush, you weren't used to having someone look at you like that.

"What?" You snapped, voice raising slightly.

"That's not normal studies in school."

"No, I did it in my free time. Can we just get back to this?!" You whisper yelled, bringing him back to the fact that you were in the middle of breaking and entering.

"Okay, so we're looking for the..."

"Impressionism section."

"That narrows it down."

Killer took the lead and you let him, you didn't quite trust him to watch your back. There were a few cameras lining the halls but you stayed out of their view. And even if they did happen to catch sight of you, all they would see is two hooded figures. No defining features to be seen. There were two guards on the floor from what you could tell, they were easy to spot and avoid.

Art theft didn't really happen around here so they didn't seem to take their jobs too seriously and you could catch their muffled voices from across the floor whenever they ran into each other. It made them all the easier to track. Eventually, you came across a sign pointing you in the direction of the section you were looking for. It wasn't all that far.

Except when you got to the right room, painting in sight, the guards were there too. Apparently this was the spot they kept running in to each other. Great. Killer cursed under his breath when they parted ways and one began to walk over in your direction. He quickly dragged you behind a marble statue and pressed a hand over your mouth to quiet the small gasp you let out.

You never expected to be in such a position. Killer had you pulled into his chest, one hand firmly on your mouth and the other gripping your middle tightly so you wouldn't move. He was peeking around the edge of the statue, watching the guard like a hawk. As soon as he disappeared into another room, Killer slowly released you and bent down to whisper.

"Remember me saying these are for emergencies? Now's a good time to use them." He pushed his sleeved up slightly and started pulling two, long blades out of the sheath on his side.

Your eyes widened at the sight.

"No!" You growled, making him wince at your slightly raised voice. "We aren't killing them."

"It'll make things easier."

"I don't care. This is my job you decided to tag along on so we play by my rules. I don't kill so you won't either."

"Fine." He lowered the blades back in place and readjusted his sleeves. "What do you suggest then?"

You thought for a moment. There was a much easier solution that wouldn't have to result in death.

"Okay, I need you to go around to the other side of the floor and make a distraction. Something loud. That'll get their attention and I'll snag the painting. We can meet up under the unlocked window and get out the same way we got in."

"Not bad." He breathed. "I'd say we'll have about five minutes after I draw their attention to make it there. Cops are going to start showing up not long after that."

The museum was very close to a police station. You didn't doubt that was all the time you'd have.

"Sounds good. Go make some noise."

He left and you waited with bated breath. After a few minutes there was a loud crash and you were on the move.
