| THIRTEEN: BECOMING A BLOODTRAITOR

CHAPTER THIRTEEN.
BECOMING A BLOODTRAITOR

Amandla saw red as Hermione drew a flaming X over the door they just went through - the door with the whispers, the moans, the yells of her and Sirius' names. She was shaken up over it, something that was very visible from her friends. They sent her questionable looks, but she just smiled. She didn't want to speak about it since she didn't know what it meant herself. It was a mystery, one that she didn't want to solve at all.

The group moved to the next door, only for it to be locked. Harry casted a charm. It didn't budge. "Whatever's in there, the Ministry sure doesn't want anyone getting to it," Harry murmured before stepping to the next door, which opened easily.

It was covered in clocks. Every surface had a clock, Amandla's nerves didn't ease. "This is it! Come on!" Harry exclaimed, Amandla wasn't delighted. He moved them through the clocks to the end of the room where another door lied. "This is it. This is where Sirius is!"

He charged through the door, seeing a gigantic room with thousands rows of shelves. On every shelf laid dozens of dusty golden orbs lit by the blue-flamed candles they saw in the first room of doors. Amandla knew something big about those orbs, but she wasn't sure what it was yet. "He's in here somewhere," Harry encouraged them.

Leading them down the center aisle, he peered down each row and continued down one row, reading them to an end, which actually opened out into another wide aisle. It was a maze, one that Amandla wasn't sure had an end. This row, though, was empty.

"I don't think Sirius is here," Hermione whispered to Harry. He didn't respond.

Ron stared at one of the orbs. "Harry, have you seen this?" he turned to his friend. Harry peered over his shoulder at the orb Ron was staring at. "Er...it's got your name on it," Ron continued awkwardly.

Amandla didn't even try to look at it, the reactions from those who did see it was enough. Something important, that what it was. Something that she didn't want to see.

Harry reached out for it. "What's my name doing here?" he thought aloud, something he probably didn't mean to say but did.

"Don't touch it, Harry!" Hermione called out when his fingers were about to touch it.

The Potter boy glared at her, Amandla almost pushed him back for glaring at her. She's just trying to be a good friend, the Fitzgerald girl wanted to argue. She didn't, though, she stayed silent. "Why not?" Harry questioned.

"Yeah, Harry, don't," Neville but in, agreeing with Hermione. Amandla's scowl turned to a smile, nodding too to support the girl, earning a jab from Cevira.

Harry looked at Neville, displeased. "It's got my name on it!" he ignored their warnings and took it off the shelf, looking at it, and that was when everything turned incredibly south. In muggle movies, sirens usually went off or something extravagant, but this time it was only a voice that made Amandla grow tense.

"I warned you before that one day you would come to a sticky end, Potter," it was one who betrayed her. One she trusted with all her heart, someone she considered family - was her family, but they threw her to the lions. Lucius Malfoy. The man she called her uncle for so long.

He emerged from the shadows with dozens of Death Eaters behind it, all cloaked in black. Amandla gripped her wand tightly, trying hard not to attack right them. Something about his voice sparked so much anger in her.

"Where's Sirius?" Harry asked then, ignoring the fact that they were outnumbered and surrounded.

The Death Eaters began to laugh. "We don't have him, if that's what you mean," Lucius answered.

Harry looked momentarily stunned at this information, shocked that he had led all his friends to a death trap. "You never did, did you? It was all just a trick," he realized.

"The Dark Lord knows your weakness for heroics, Potter. All it took was a little nudge to get you here," Lucius was smirking, Amandla gripped her wand tighter. He held out his hand, "Now give me that prophecy."

"What prophecy?" Harry, who was just as confused as the others, asked. It took only a moment for Amandla to realize that the golden orb in his hand was the prophecy.

Her uncle (ex-uncle, she declared then) pointed at the golden orb, "That prophecy. Now hand it over or we'll have to use wands on you."

Harry raised his wand with the others, Cevira reaching out for Amandla's hand as she did. The Stature girl never was for harming people, Amandla understood. But it was also the fear that she might never be able to say I love you again, and this was her silent way of saying so. They could die then, that night, by the hands of her ex-uncle. She hated that fact.

"Go ahead," Harry replied, smirking at his friends who were supporting him. Lucius scowled.

"Very brave of you, Potter," he coolly said, "Or are you foolish?"

"Come and find out!" Harry yelled, but Lucius didn't move. Really, he just began to smirk at the boy.

"Really, Potter. You expect to defeat all of us with your little school friends? Now hand it over, and they won't have to die here." Ouch.

Even if she regarded him as her ex-uncle, being called a little school friend hurt. She used to look up to him so much when she was little, and here he was saying he would kill her. His own family, if anything.

One of the Death Eaters moved forward, throwing off their head and revealing themselves as Bellatrix Lestrange. "I haven't escaped from Azkaban for this!" she raised her wand but Lucius forced her arm down.

"No! If the prophecy is smashed -" he stopped himself before saying anything else, turning back to Harry as Bellatrix turned to the others.

"Take the youngest girl. We'll see how committed Potter is as we torture her," she ordered them before smirking, "And take Little Ol' Amandla too, don't worry about torturing, just kill her."

Amandla's heart stopped for a moment as the others looked at her, horrified. In their minds, there was no reason why they would want her. What had the innocent Hufflepuff done for herself to be killed? And how did Bellatrix know her name? She didn't look at them. Like the voices before said, something bad was going to happen to her that night; she was going to die.

"You try and take them and I'll smash this thing!" Harry threatened. He tossed the orb casually in the air before catching it, Lucius stared in horror. "So, what kind of prophecy are we talking about here?"

"Surely you jest, Potter?" Bellatrix snarled at the boy, as if physically harmed her to speak to him.

"Not really," Harry shrugged without a care, "How come Voldemort wands it?"

"You dare to speak the Dark Lord's name?" Lucius asked in a harsh whisper, and Amandla couldn't stop herself from thinking the same thing. She hated hearing his name, still to this day. It was because of their betrayal to him that her parents were killed.

"Who, Voldemort?" she flinched as Harry continued, "Oh, yeah, I dare. Voldemort, Voldemort, Voldemort -"

"Silence! How dare you utter that name from your half-blood mouth!" Bellatrix screeched.

"Hey, did you know Voldemort's a half-blood too?" Harry casually threw out there, but Amandla knew that he was just digging his grave deeper by angering them.

Bellatrix raised her wand again, wanting to strike, but Amandla's ex-uncle stopped her again. "Control yourself, Bellatrix!" he scolded her.

"What's so special about this prophecy anyway?" Harry asked again.     Bellatrix shrieked w

ith laughter at that. "You ean Dumbledore never told you the reason you bear that scar was hidden mhere?" Lucius antagonized him.

Harry looked hurt at that, surprised that Dumbledore could keep something that big from him. "What?" he uttered out. The Death Eaters laughed. "When I give the signal, blast the shelves..." he then whispered to them, his voice covered up mostly by the laughter. They nodded.

"But why did he need me to take it?" Harry continued to ask them.

"Only a person for whom the prophecy was made can remove it from its shelf, Potter, and the Dark Lord certainly couldn't get it himself," Lucius replied.

Harry turned angry at that, "So he used me to do his dirty work, did he?"

    "Precisely, Potter."

"Now!" Harry yelled, the command as their wands all fired at the shelves at once. The Death Eaters cover their faces as dust fills the air. "Run!" Entire shelves were crashing to the ground, glass shards flying in the air as one hit Amandla in the face, causing a cry to sound from her. But there was no need to think about that as she continued to run.

"Stop them!" she heard her ex-uncle command as the group made it through the door. Hermione slammed the door shut and pointed her wand at it, yelling out a spell for the door to seal itself.

Amandla looks around again to notice that there were only three with her; Harry, Hermione, and Neville. "Where'd the rest go?" he asked them.

Hermione looked around before realizing, "Harry, they went the wrong way!"

The start to run as the door is blasted off its hinges. Amandla and the others dive underneath the desks in the room as the Death Eaters began to slowly move between the desks.

"They might have gone on to the hall," one of the Death Eaters offered.

"Check under the desks," Bellatrix ordered. Oh how they were screwed...oh how Amandla was certainly going to die...

Harry leapt out from under his desk, yelling a spell as a jet of red light hit one of the Death Eaters in the chest. Hermione jumped for the exit, but Bellatrix saw her. She began to recite the killing curse before Neville yelled, "Expelliarmus!" Her hand flew from her fingers, Harry finished her off.

There was a yell from another room. "Ron!" Harry yelled as two other Death Eaters entered the room.

"Impedimenta!" one of them yelled, causing the four to fly over a desk, Amandla going to the wall. "We've got him!"

"Silenco! Stupify!" Hermione yelled in retaliation, causing the Death Eater to fall silent and then actually fall to the ground. Harry yelled out another spell, causing the second one to fall to the room, unable to move.

The silent one flicked his wand and struck Hermione in the chest. Amandla gasped, yelling out her own spell before yelling, "Hermione!" She ran over to the girl, only for her to appear to be asleep.

"Please don't be dead, please don't be dead..." Harry pleaded to the unconscious girl, the same thoughts running through Amandla's head.

She shook the sleeping girl, "Hermione, wake up..." Nothing happened, she felt helpless. What was knew? Not the feeling.

"What's they do to her?" Neville approached them, feeling her wrist for a pulse. "She's alive, guys. There's a pulse."

Harry and Amandla, in sinc, let out a sigh of relief. "Can we carry her?" he asked them.

"I'll do it. You're better at fighting - both of you," Neville nodded, lifting up her body in his arms.

They went through the doors, going to the circular room full of the room. The X the unconscious girl spelled had faded from the falls. "Where do we go?" asked Neville.

"I don't know..." Harry trailed off as another door opened as Luna, Ginny, and Ron rushed out. "What happened?"

"I think my ankle's broken. And somebody hit Ron with a weird spell..." Ginny answered.

Ron laughed, it was quite loud and alarming, "Hiyya, Harry. You look funny..." he giggled.

Ginny's legs gave away, and both she and her brother fell to the ground. Amandla gasped, going to their sides with a look of concern painted on her face.

"They hit her with something too," Luna answered as Harry straightened.

"We need to get out of here. Luna, can you help Ginny?" he asked her, the Lovegood girl nodded.

Before they could do anything, and to their luck, another door opened, and instead of it being their friends (because why would it be? come on) it was five Death Eaters entered. "There they are!" Bellatrix yelled and stunning spells rained upon them.

Luna is blasted off her feet as they moved to the nearest door, causing her and Ginny to falter. Neville is hit in the back, Hermione hits the floor. Harry continued to run, probably the smartest decision, but Amandla waited a second before doing the same. She felt guilt for leaving them behind, damn being Hufflepuff, always having to care about the wellbeings of others.

Three staggered into the room with the Veil - the one that Amandla never wanted to see again. Ron still giggled wildly, as Harry tripped slightly. Doors burst open all around them, and Amandla wondered why they couldn't just catch a break. Oh right, she was with the Boy Who Lived, she would never get a break with him around.

The three of them stood, practically surrounded by Death Eaters. Her ex-uncle stepped forward, "Your race is run, Potter. Hand it over."

Amandla ignored the disappointing gaze of Lucius, he had no right to be upset with her. He had made his choice at the beginning of the year when he ratted her out, and now she was making hers. And hers was to stand and fight for good, not be a servant to evil.

"Let my friends go and I will," he demanded as Bellatrix and many others dragged his friends into the chamber.

"You are not in a position to negotiate," Lucius snarled, hating how this little child could think he had the power.

Neville struggled against the one who was holding him, "Don't do it, Harry! Don't!" His pleads meant nothing.

"Stop, Neville!" Harry told him, not wanting him to be hurt because of his defiance against them.

Bellatrix looked at him in surprise, "Neville? Neville Longbottom?" she laughed in glee at that, "My dear boy, I paid your parents a visit a long time ago. We had such a time!"

"You put them in St. Mungos!" Neville roared in anger at the woman. Bellatrix simply radiated with glee at that statement, proud that her handiwork was still on display at the hospital.

"So, Potter. Give us the Prophecy or I'll see how long it takes to crack Longbottom like his parents," she promised.

"Don't," Amandla called to him with a warning, "Don't give it to them. They won't let anyone go, they'll kill them the moment you hand it over."

"Oh, shut it, Fitzgerald!" Bellatrix shrieked at her, revealing Amandla's true last name to everyone - revealing her connection to the Death Eaters slightly, and she knew that only more was to come, "You're just as weak as your parents! That's what got them killed in the first place!"

"My parents were brave!" Amandla yelled back in anger of her beseeching her parents name, "You're the coward, Bellatrix!"

Bellatrix snarled at that. "Crucio!" she yelled, but Amandla didn't even think before silently casting a Counter-Curse for it. Bless her mother and her amazing spell making skills, along with the whole journal she left!

Before anyone can comprehend anything else, or think to ask questions as to how Amandla deflected that curse, the door at the top of the chamber explodes off its hinges and the Order of the Phoenix appears. They blast spells at the Death Eaters as the teenagers move away, Amandla going with them.

Amandla, on her way over to Cevira and Corey, saw out of the corner of her eye the prophecy fly from Harry's hand. She saw the orb bounce off of a step before shattering against stone. Amandla is frozen as she's hit with a curse, causing her to fall over, her knees buckling as she hit the ground.

"We may have lost the prophecy, but I can still deliver you to the Dark Lord!" Lucius declared, waving his wand and yelling a spell as Harry blocked the spell.

So much was happening as Amandla continued to stay on the floor, unable to stand. But soon, she slowly began to lift herself as Sirius was beginning to battle Bellatrix. She knew that something bad was going to happen, the feeling in her gut and the moans from the Veil coming to her mind once more.

As she stood, she gripped her wand in her hand tightly, seeing Bellatrix continue to fire spells at him. She began to move towards him, running really as fast as she could, as the Black man yelled, "Is that the best you've got, cousin?"

When she one foot away from him, Bellatrix started to shriek a spell, "Avada Kadavra!" and as the spell shot from her wand, Amandla placed herself in front of Sirius and casted the Counter-Curse from her mother's spell book that was written darker than anything else, symbolizing its importance. Once again, bless her mother for those amazing spells that countered dark magic! Oh, how they had saved her more than once that day!

The killing curse hit the wall, and everything else stopped as everyone looked at Amandla. No one had deflected a killing curse; no one had ever survived one, only Harry, but that was a different story. Here they were that day witnessing someone survive it, that was another miracle in itself. Bellatrix shielded her shock as she continued to shoot spells at the girl as she deflected them easily. But the curse from before was getting to her, and she could feel her knees buckling again.

As Bellatrix shot once last spell at her, one she couldn't deflect for more reasons that one, Amandla hit the ground in a pool of her own blood, knocking herself unconscious as she hit the floor.

I know that bellatrix didn't shot sirius with the killing curse, but for the purposes of this book, she did. I also know that sirius dies, but this is also changing because I added three more characters to the battle so of course some events have changed. (aka sirius dying.)
