".... kid.. wake up, wake up you need to run"

The boy groaned, shifting in his cage.

"Miss Soo.." he said weakly, his voice hoarse from the little sleep he got.

"Wake up Kai, you need to leave.. we don't have a lot of time" she whispered.

"Leave..?" his voice quivered "I can't leave, rule number 2-"

"Forget about the rules!" She yelled frantically, opening the cage a jar. "You NEED to go, now!" She opened the door slowly, it squeaked, sending shivers down Kai's back.

"I can't.. I don't understand" he backed into the cage's wall. Cowering away from the woman, he felt her yanking his hands towards her, unlocking the chains around them.

She took off his blindfold.

"Listen to me, there are security cameras all over the place, you have about 5 minutes to get the hell out of here. Go, GO!" She pushed his body behind the bars.

He laid on the cold floor, his hands felt light, free of the weights on him. He squinted his eyes, not used to the dim light.

He can't leave, he won't, he won't leave.

"Hey! What's going on over there!" The guard yelled, running inside the cold room.

"GO!" She screamed. "They're going to kill you! RUN!"

and so he did, taking his two unstable legs, he sprinted.

"HE'S RUNNING AWAY" Kai heard at least 3 guards after him, chasing him at full speed.

He was too slow, his body weak and the lack of energy made his legs burn, he slowed down, unable to run to the end of the hallway.

"code red! code red! patient 001 has escaped. initiating full lockdown" 

Shit.

He ran again, just seconds from the guards getting to him, his bare feet slammed on the concrete cold floor, he was pretty sure one of his ankles was sprained when a sharp familiar pain shot up his leg.

He reached a long flight of stairs, shots were fired behind him, electric bullets, one shot and his body would drop helpless to the floor, twitching from the shook.

He sobbed, overcome by fear, fat tears rolled down his face.

He rushed down the stairs, stopping in his tracks when he heard a voice coming from the floor underneath him.

"Get him!" The voice yelled, he recognized it, the voice that tormented and tortured him for over 10 years.

He turned around, his ankle cracking under him. He cried, his body screamed in pain

He ran to the other side, a bullet grazed his side as he ran.

"I almost got him! Keep shooting"

"Don't get too close, he's dangerous!"

He took a sharp turn right, not noticing the stairs underneath him, he slipped, his body thrown over the stairs, painfully rolling on the floor.

He had no time to waste, hearing the faint sound of the guards footsteps, he listened closely, there were 10 of them now.

He picked up his body, running at full speed again.

After 5 minutes, his legs gave out, his body hit the hard floor.

"Please..." he sobbed "Please..  let me go.." a pathetic wail escaped his mouth, carrying the pain taking over his body.

He crawled, hands digging through the floor, leaving small red streaks from the half dried blood on them.

He folded himself, hand clasping on his mouth, he muffled his panicked cries.

"code red! code red! patient 001 has escaped. initiating full lockdown"  the voice echoed through the facility's speakers.

"patient 001, level: highly dangerous, initiating full lockdown" the system repeated. 

he hid behind the cold concrete wall praying he won't get caught. praying that the stupid system would shut the fuck up. his hands burning, his back feeling like it's about to snap in half.

"FUCK!! 001 GET IN HERE RIGHT NOW!!" he heard the psychotic voice calling him back. the sound of the metal electric stick dragging through the floor along with a maniac scream.

"lock every door, search every corner, I want him back and I want him alive. I'm not half done with him" he heard the voice ordering the guards, the cruelty in his tone never fails to bring him shivers. he knew that was his cue to run, he made it this far. he just needs to get out.

with his last powers he booked it before the gate closed.

"GET HIM!!!" 

Kai jolted awake, his eyes open wide covered in cold sweat. He panted for air.

"They're going to kill me.." he whispered, tears welling in his eyes, falling on the soft blanket.

He hugged his knees close to him, one hand clasping on his mouth, another wrapped around his legs.

They're going to kill me, I escaped...

He fell from the bed softly, barely making any noise, Kai tip toed into the bathroom.

He looked up at his reflection, flinching away from himself. His eyes were hideous, the stupid Blue hue flickering deep in them.

Why me?... am I really..

He laughed sadly, staring in the mirror. His eyes blood shot, puffy and red.

Am I really a monster?..

The reflection stared at him back, the the boy's eyes glowed in the mirror.

He felt a sharp pain in his teeth, the small fang revealing itself.

Please go.... go... I don't want this power anymore.

I never asked for it.. so why

Why me?

He breathed deep, exhaling shakily. It took everything in him to not scream at the figure in the mirror.

Stop it...

He opened the tap, looking emotionless at the water streaming under the sink.

Taking a few handfuls, he threw the water on his face. It was cold, but he deserved it.

In retrospect, he had to be punished for complaining. After all, he deserved the pain, deserved to be locked up for what he did.

He shouldn't have escaped, he knew that. They should've killed him.

He should be dead, a slow death to make up for his past.

The longer he stared at the mirror the more it came clear to him.

He is a monster, an animal.

"Kai... are you in there?"
