comfort

Kai Took the black shirt off him, feeling the dampness of his cold sweat on it, happy that he can change to a fresh set of clothes. If he's being honest, dressing alone in an unknown wooded area was horrifying for him. He would've asked one of the guys to accompany him but he didn't feel comfortable enough with them yet.

He opened his palm forcefully, the only way he knew how to let a few flames out of the tips of his fingers, he toyed with the flames to distract him from the thought of being alone.

He sat down, changing his socks as his hand created little flame creatures. Remembering how he used that ability to communicate when talking was too hard. Hiyyih loved the small blue bunnies he created, asking him to light the room with the mystical creatures at his palm whenever she had a bad dream.

His childhood room lighting in a blue hue, his sister smiling at him from the upper bunk bed. Throwing fits when he closed his hand, hinting at her to go to sleep.

"Kai?" Taehyun blushed, flustered at the sight of the shirtless boy. "Sorry- Oh my God!" The older turned around, cursing his impatient personality. He just wanted to see if Kai was alright, he left 20 minutes ago, changing only takes 5 minutes.

"I just- you were taking a while so I thought-" Taehyun started rambling.

"It's okay..." Kai slipped into his white hoodie, immediately feeling warmer. Thanking Yeonjun for being considerate of his body temperature. Somehow he was always a few degrees colder than everybody else.

"I just wanted to.. talk to you for a minute" Taehyun said, still with his back at Kai.

"I'm done... you can turn now" Kai said quietly, concerned about what the older asked. Taehyun isn't angry at him is he? Did he do anything wrong?

"You know that was just an act before right? We would never-"

"I know...."

"Oh.. okay..." Taehyun scratched his nape awkwardly.

"Taehyunnie?"

Taehyun looked up at the nickname, not sure if he heard right or not.

"Yeah?"

"Why do you look so sad?"

"Because I feel like I betrayed your trust"

"Taehyun...."

"I scared you, and I told you to leave and now you won't even talk to me"
Taehyun said, his eyes becoming glossy and watery.

"Don't cry because of me, I don't deserve your tears" Kai smiled at him, seemingly trying to show the older that he is okay and is no longer mad at him.

"Sorry..." the older sobbed onto his hands. Feeling someone wrapping his arms around him, he looked up to realize Kai was hugging him tightly in his arms.

Taehyun in response clutched onto the younger for dear life, not knowing why he brings him to such intense emotional state.

"Taehyunnie" Kai whispered near his ear, guilt filling his heart. Was he really that cold to Taehyun?

Taehyun buried his face into the crook of kai's neck, breathing in his earthy smell. Taehyunie Taehyun has never heard someone say his name so smoothly and beautifully, Kai's deep voice shaking Taehyun to his core. Making him melt in the younger's arms even more.

"I like you a lot Kai..." the older blurted out, addicted on the younger's touch. "I would never be afraid of you"

Kai pulled away from the hug, eyes wide and sparkly as the whole galaxy.

"Y-you like me..?" The younger looked for signs of humor in Taehyun's eyes but his heart sped up when he realized the older was as serious as a stone.

"Is it not obvious already.." Taehyun looked at him, eyelashes still wet from his tears, how come he looks even more ethereal after crying? Kai found it hard to take his eyes off Taehyun when the older looked so damn beautiful.

I'll hurt him, if I let him get close he'll get hurt.

"Your eyes are beautiful by the way" Taehyun fixed Kai's long dark bangs, brushing a few strands out of the younger's eyes.

"My eyes are ruined" Kai suddenly became self conscious of his scars and the white hue covering his left eye. Giving his eyes a sick look to them.

"They're still beautiful, just like the rest of you.."

..............

"Soobin-ah, can we talk for a second? It's about Kai"

Soobin stopped stirring the ramen, giving his Hyung a knowing look.

"Yeah sure, what's up?"

"You need to train him" Yeonjun cut straight to the chase.

"Huh?..." Soobin laughed at the thought of training a boy that didn't seem to be able to hold a pencil on his own. "Umm.... I don't think I'll have a lot of luck with him Hyung"

"Why not?"

"Ah.. have you seen him?"

"Who knows binnie? Maybe he can grow stronger"

"I don't know about that, what if I trigger his trauma? Or he suddenly lashes at me with his powers. It's just not that easy"

"Not saying it is... but I think we need to try anyways. Just one session, them you can decide whether to continue with him or not."

"I guess one session is fine, but if something happens I'm calling quits"

"That's fine by me... thanks binnie"

"Everything for you Junnie Hyung"

.............

"Dinner's ready kids! Damn I feel like a grandpa...." Yeonjun mumbled under his breath after realizing his true nature.

"But Hyung-" Beomgyu was well and ready to tease his older brother.

"Not a word Beom, unless you want to eat dirt before bed"

"Jeez so cranky... you need to spend less time with Soobin Hyung, he's no fun" Beomgyu stole a piece of sausage from the makeshift grill.

"Hey!" Soobin protested from behind the Tree, pissing his bladder away. "I can be fun..."

"No you can't Hyung, that's physically and mentally impossible for you. You were programmed to be a kill-joy"

"Yeonjun Hyung, would you smack Beomgyu for me? I'm a little busy"

"Don't gang up on me!" Beomgyu ran from Yeonjun. "Hyung, don't listen to Soobin and I'll give you my share of ramen"

Yeonjun stopped in his tracks at the mention of his favorite food.

"Deal!"

Soobin came out of the bush, washing his hand with soup and some water from the big jar before approaching Beomgyu.

"I'll just do it myself then"

"Hyung! I love you!" Beomgyu did his best aegyo moves, watching how the older slowly relaxes his stance, giving Beomgyu head pats and pinching his cheeks "You're lucky you're cute or else I would've killed you already.

"Kai-ah, I know you said you weren't hungry but I got you some chocolate because you said you like it and- are you cold?" Yeonjun's eyes shifted from their usual playful and light gaze to a more concerned look at the sight of Kai rubbing his hands and Arms together for some heat.

The morning coldness must've hit him.

Taehyun came back from the car with the plates Yeonjun asked him to bring earlier along with the fluffy blanket Yeonjun so stubbornly wished to buy for Kai.

"You and your big brain" Yeonjun skipped happily to the younger, yanking the soft blanket out of his hands. Landing a soft peck on Taehyun's forehead before going back to Kai, wrapping the boy in the warmness of the fabric.

"Taehyunnie..." Kai called the older rather shyly "can you sit next to me...?" He shifted his gaze to the floor, waiting for a stone cold rejection.

Goddamn this angel like boy.. curse his beautiful eyes. How can I say no to this adorable thing?

Taehyun made his way over to the boy, who looked like a baby, wrapped in the thick fluffy blanket. Taehyun tried his best not to strangle the boy with a tight hug and simply laid nest to him, the exhaustion from the past few days slowly seeping into his body.

"Let's eatttt!!" Beomgyu made his way to where the others sat, they all join in, seating around the food.

"Thank you for the meal Hyungs" Taehyun sat up from his position, with the chopsticks ready, resting between his lips.

"Kai-ah, eat a lot" Soobin half said half demanded. If the younger was going to train with him, he'll need all the energy he could get.

Soobin was not the type to go easy...
