Chapter 14:Carrying it out
I just want to say I don't agree with most if the things mentioned in this chapter, but they fit the time period. And I would like to apologize for not updating last week. I didn't have to time. Tiny warrior hands will be updated next week also.
"They're ready," Clary said. Her design looked well, the finished product was even better. Tight enough to make sure no lose ends got caught, yet loose enough that you could move with ease. It felt durable, but it hadn't been tested out yet. "My lord? You may step out."
"You don't need to call me your lord. I'm just Alec."
"Of course." She moved to the side to let me out. I stepped out of her work room where everyone was there to see the outfit. "Clary, you did a great job!" Isabelle said. "It looks perfect."
"Thank you, malady."
"Ah Clary. This is why I like you," Magnus said next. "It looks good enough for the mission. What do you think, Dimitri?"
"It's looks great, your majesty. You did a good job, ma'am."
"Thank you. Everyone. The rest of the outfits are in my work room. Would you like me to give them out to the rest of the volunteers? My lord," Clary timidly said.
"That would be lovely, but I think you should rest for a bit. You've been working hard. Dimitri will do it," Magnus announced.
"Oh course. I'll give them to the rest," Dimitri said. He went into the room and Clary followed him in.
"What should I wear for tonight, though? I cannot go in a proper dress, but I need to keep my innocent look. Maybe a red tunic would work, so I could show off my skills. But a dress would be easier to charm him in."
"Miss Isabelle? I've already have something made for you. His highness already asked me to and gave me one of your dresses so I could use it for the measurements. Excuse me while I go get it." She quickly came out holding a dress in her arms. It was long enough to reach the floor, and decorated enough that Isabelle can still look feminine. It was a soft shade of green, with lace on the sleeves, but it wasn't large and poofy like her other dresses. It was a bit tighter, but enough room to move around in. Perfect for Isabelle's taste. "Thank you so much! You've done a great job. It's perfect." She took it in her arms and examined it.
"I made it long so you could hide weapons underneath it. Like under your sleeves and attached to your ankles."
"Perfect. I'll go get ready in to now? Should I wear a corset with this?"
"That wouldn't be necessary."
"Thank you again, Clary." Isabelle left the room and Clary went back into her work room. It was just Magnus and I now. "You look great in that. It does great things for your ass." All blood rushed to my face.
"Be quite. Someone could hear."
"I don't mind."
"Well I do, and I need to get ready for tonight. Extra training, getting my weapons ready, polishing up the others stealth, and other things like that."
"Be careful tonight."
"I'm always careful."
"But this is Sebastian we're talking about. He's sneaky and smart, so you'll need to be more careful than usual. Please?" He worries about me so much that sometimes I feel bad for choosing this path, but he would want me to be happy also. This, all the training and everything, this makes me happy.
"Of course. I want to come back to you." I kissed him. "I have to go now. I'll see you in a while."
~o~
"We're ready, Dimitri," I said. Everyone who was going on this mission was grouped out outside. Isabelle was the only one who stuck out because she was wearing a dress and was a woman. Other than her, we were all wearing the gear Clary made. We stocked on weapons and were ready to invade Sebastian. We found out where he was hiding, and it was pretty close. He was housing his troops in a ghost town. It had been abandoned for years, but he still uses the old houses. We said our final goodbyes and mount our horses. The journey was going to be a while, luckily we left a bit early. "Isabelle?" She was next to me once again, but there weren't many people this time."
"Yes?"
"Are you sure you'll be able to do this? I don't want you to get hurt."
"I'm sure Alec. I might be a woman, but I don't need the protection of men."
"Of course. You're strong. How has Jace been doing? Has he gotten any better?"
"He remembers more recent things. Like Clary, the time while we were getting here, and that you're his brother and I'm his sister. Other than that he just know a the names of people, not actual memories he shared with them."
"Hopefully he'll recover soon. I hate seeing him like this."
"So do I."
~o~
We neared the village. Very plain and dark. A perfect place for the man who killed my brother and took away my other brother's memories. He deserves it all. "Isabelle?" Alec said.
"Yes?"
"Are you ready. His house is at the end."
"Of course. I'll get through, trust me. You and the others get the head and make sure he hears everything and gets the message to the rest of the houses."
"Of course." I jumped off my horse, and fixed my dress. The more beautiful I look, the better I can convince Sebastian. "Goodbye. I'll be back." Alec gave me a hug before I began walking, and I ran a bit so my story I have prepared will be more convincing.
I stood in front of the largest house here. Obviously, it must be Sebastian's. There were no guards posted outside, so I walked in. "Hello?" I yelled out. There were footsteps and Sebastian was at the head if the stairs, sword at his side.
"Pull anything funny and I will not hesitate to kill you. What do you want?"
"I came here to join your army. I escaped Magnus and came here. They're all a bunch of fools." There was a faint clicking. Something that could easily be mistaken for the feet of a mouse, but it was no mouse. The others got the head and brought him here. Time to do the convincing.
"Little lady has a brain. How surprising. Welcome, but you're not in yet."
"Why not?"
"Because I need to see your skills before I let you join. Come with me. I have plenty of people you can show me on."
"I won't hurt innocent people. That's barbaric."
"Maybe you just are woman."
"Maybe you're just a coward." Stick to the plan. Stick to the plan. Don't let him get to you. "Letting all the army do your work for you. You don't need them, do you? You could easily kill us all on your own."
"Of course I could. The army is just for show, but if you join me we'll be the best. We'll win this war and walk over their corpses. Wouldn't you mind killing your own brother?"
"No. He's a fool just like the rest of them."
"Mmmmh. We'll abandon the army, and we'll work together. How does that sound."
"So you honestly think you don't need them?"
"Heavens no. They're all idiots."
"Glad to know." I calmly walk up the stairs to meet him, then I take my whip and wrap it around his neck. "Alec! Now!" I yelled. The door burst open and the others came in. Alec had his bow loaded and the string pulled back.
"This was a a set up!" Sebastian choked out.
"I'm surprised you didn't realize it sooner."
"My army will fight you?"
"What army? They all left," Dimitri yelled, sword in hand. As Sebastian realized what was going on, his face turned into a fit of rage.
"You all deserve to die!"
"We do? We might, but you're the one who's dying tonight," I mocked. I didn't realize that my grip wasn't tight enough to cause him to lose breath, and Sebastian grabbed my whip and threw me to the ground. His was on me within seconds with his arms wrapped around my neck.
"Let her go!" Alec yelled.
"You all leave and I let her live!" I attempted to kick but he had me powerless. I tried to hit him, but he just moved out of the way. He was certain to end my life.
"Let her go!" Sebastian was all the close to me and he was a moving target. Alec couldn't get a arrow through him without missing. Even with his skill, it's too much to a risk. If he climbed up the stairs then Sebastian might just end my life right then. My breathing was harsh and it hurt to try. I was gasping for breath, but it was out of reach. Suddenly it all stopped. An arrow prodding from his neck. Blood dripping from the wound. "Isabelle." Alec yelled. He was running upstairs. He grabbed me by my elbows. "Are you alright?" My brother killed Sebastian for me. He'll forever have known he ended a life. "I'm fine."
~o~
"Alec," Isabelle said on the horse next to me. Are you alright? You just killed someone." I thought it over. His blood will forever stain my hands, but with all the wrongs he committed, he deserved it.
"I'm fine."
That night at Magnus's castle, we all celebrated the death of an enemy. Knowing he won't come back made me sleep peacefully.
