WHAT DID YOU DO?
"When you said jet, I thought we were gonna find Thanos in like Oklahoma or something." Elizabeth turned around in her seat inside the spaceship to look at Wanda who sat behind her. "I didn't think we'd be joining NASA," she murmured with her eyes wide at the large window in front of them.
Earth looked a lot smaller than she thought it'd look in space. But then again, what did she know? Elizabeth sat in between Rhodey and Thor, the two on her side both looking out the large window.
"Okay," Rocket turned in his seat up at the front of the ship with Bruce, Carol and Nebula. "Who here hasn't been to space?" He asked all of them.
The twins both raised their hand and Elizabeth looked around to see Steve, Natasha and Rhodey raise their hands as well before she lifted her own one. Elizabeth heard Carol's light laugh up ahead and smiled at the woman.
Rocket sighed and looked at each one of them sternly. "You better not throw up on my ship," he ordered before turning back to the front.
"We're approaching the jump," Nebula announced, making all of those who haven't been to space fiddle with their seatbelts and brace their hands on the armrests. "In three, two, one." Nebula counted down and Rocket pulled back on the control lever.
All of them were thrown back in their seats slightly as the colours blurred all around them and the whole ship shook. They broke through the sound barrier at the speed they were going and all Elizabeth could think of was, this is exactly what it looked like in Star Wars.
The could have been travelling for hours or seconds, but she didn't have a clue. The only thing she did know was that time worked differently in space. So when she saw them suddenly appear in front of a large planet, she couldn't say she was surprised.
The planet was big, bigger than earth, she realised as the came to a stop in front of it. It was also greener, covered in what she could only assume were trees and crops. The planet not having to deal with the pollution oh humans.
Carol got her attention as she unbuckled herself and floated out of her seat. "You guys wait here," she told them as she patted down her suit, floating her way past Elizabeth and to the door of the ship. "I'll head down for recon."
Once she was out of the ship, they watched as she disappeared in a small light and headed down to the planet. Then, Rocket activated the gravity pull and hoped out of his seat to stand on the ground.
The rest of them followed suit and prepared themselves as they waited for Carol's cue. Wanda got up from her seat and went to talk with her brother quietly in Sokovian, not paying any mind to the rest of them.
In front of her, she saw Natasha and Steve talking quietly, Steve holding a compass in one hand with a frown on his face. Elizabeth felt his sadness and longing and tried to block it out of her mind as she stayed in her seat. Rhodey got up and went to the cockpit to talk to Rocket, the heavy sound of his suits machinery echoing in the small space.
Thor stayed put in his seat beside her, his foot tapping up and down in a unknown rhythm to her. "It wasn't your fault," She whispered to him when she felt the guilt he was feeling. "What happened on earth," she added when he turned his head to look at her.
"You can believe what you want," he replied curtly. "I have lost a great deal, but I will not lose this fight. I will kill Thanos,"Thor continued determinedly as he stared back ahead at the wonderful view out the window.
She turned her gaze to her her fingers as she played with them absentmindedly, knowing no matter what she said Thor wasn't going to change his mind. They were both similar in that way.
"There's no satellites," Carol appeared back in front of the glass as he voice came in through the speakers in the ship, her voice crackling every so often. "No ships and no armies either. No ground defenses of any kind. It's just him," she listed off as her blonde harr floated in tendrils around her.
"And that's enough," Nebula responded grimly as they all held their breathes as Rocket brought the ship to land.

Elizabeth had never spoken a full sentence to the mad titan, but she never did see Thanos as the farm type. She walked beside Natasha on the foreign planet as they walked up the little step to Thanos' little farm hut.
The rood was blown off from when Carol had been the first one to fly down and intercept him. Steve walked beside Natasha as the three of them entered the small place, Nebula and Rocket behind them.
Wanda and Pietro stood side by side as they stared at Thanos. The titan was held in a chokehold by Carol as Rhodey held back his right arm and the Hulk-buster suit had clamped itself onto Thanos' left leg. His arm ended in a stump where his left hand should have been. The gauntlet lay face down on the floor by Thor's foot.
"Where is he?" Wanda seethed out as she glared at Thanos' struggling figure. "Where is Vision's body?" She repeated when Thanos acted as if he hadn't heard her at all.
Ignoring the two, Rocket went in for the gauntlet and turned it over only to see that the six infinity stones were missing. The once golden gauntlet was covered in soot and ash as Rocker stared at it in horror.
The rest of them looked around the small hut for any signs of the stones. "Where are the?" Steve took a threatening step toward Thanos.
When they didn't get an answer, Carol tightened her arms around the titan's neck. "Answer the question," she instructed.
"The universe required correction," Thanos explained between gasps of air. "After that, the stones served no purpose beyond temptation." The anger and shock that radiated from the rest of the team were through the roof at these words.
Bruce stood up with the suit and pushed Thanos to the ground harshly. "You murdered trillions!" He exclaimed, clearly pissed off.
"You should be grateful," Thanos corrected from his place on the ground, cradling the stump where his left hand once was. Bruce sent a punch to his purple head and Elizabeth felt the satisfaction running through Bruce at the act.
Standing next to Elizabeth, Natasha breathed in shakily with her eyes glossed over. "Where are the stones?" She asked in anticipation.
"Gone," Thanos said and every single one of them felt their hearts stop. "Reduced to atom."
"You used them two days ago," Bruce stated, not believing the words coming out of Thanos' mouth.
"I used the stones to destroy the stones," Thanos said. "It nearly killed me."
"I can bet you right now that we're all wishing it did," Elizabeth commented with a cold glare at the titan.
"What matters is the work is done," Thanos continued on, not sparing her a glance. "It always will be. I am inevitable."
"We have to tear this place apart," Rhodey looked around the small space that they all stood in. "He has to be lying."
"My father is many things," Nebula took a step forward to the titan. "But a liar is not one of them."
Thanos sighed at the sight of Nebula walking towards him. "Ah, thank you, daughter." He tilted his head as he looked up at her. "Perhaps, I treated you too harshly-"
With one large swing of his axe, Thor cut Thanos' head clean off before he could finish his sentence. His large body fell to the ground as his head rolled off to the side, eyes still open as they stared up.
"No!" Wanda yelled loudly as she pushed her way towards Thanos, checking to see if he really was dead, which they all knew he was.
"What did you do?" Pietro looked to Thor with his mouth agape. He looked past Rhodey to see his sister fuming, her hands clenched by her sides.
"I went for the head," Thor murmured with a dazed look in his eyes as he seemed to sway to the side.
Wanda stalked past Elizabeth and came to stand in front of Thor. "What did you do?" She repeated her brothers words as she stared up at Thor, her eyes glowing ever so slightly. Elizabeth could feel the hostility radiating off her and worked on toning it down.
"I merely finished what I started," Thor answered as he stared Wanda down. His anger quickly picking back up when he saw how Wanda was glaring at him. "I killed him. I did it."
"Well that wasn't your call to make," Wanda spat out wit her Sokivian accent coming through, making her sound more threatening than she already was. "What you did was ruin our only chances of finding Vision."
Thor narrowed his eyes at Wanda as the rest of the team watched them carefully, unsure of which direction this was going on. Elizabeth worked hard on making sure it would go in the least destructive direction possible, finding it hard since the two both had their own inner turmoil.
Taking a step closer to Wanda, Thor sent her a fake smile. "Did you not hear what he just said?" Thor raised his axe and pointed at the decapitated body of Thanos. "They are gone, we are not getting them back. We are not getting anyone back."
"I could have gotten him back, Thanos was going to tell me-"
"Thanos wasn't going to tell you anything," Thor cut Wanda off with a shake of his head as his grip on the exe tightened. "So now he's dead, and it is over."
Elizabeth felt her shoulders drop when she felt Thor calm down first. He took a step back and looked at everyone in the room one last time before walking out of the hut and heading off into the sky.
Wanda stood, rooted in place as Pietro came up behind her with a hand over her shoulder. She brushed him off and ran out of the hut, the rest of them sitting in silence. Nebula walked over to her fathers head and knelt down with an unreadable expression on her face. But Elizabeth could feel the twinge of sadness in inside Nebula as she closed her fathers eyelids.
The eerie silence was interrupted by a shrill scream as the ground shook around them. Pietro rushed out in a blur at his sisters scream, the rest of them following after. They all stood by the entrance of the hut with their eyes wide.
In the distance, they could make out a large circle with a 50 mile radius where the ground was burnt and cracked. Where the thriving crops once were now only ash remained and in the center of it all, was Wanda crying on her knees as she hugged herself tightly.
Pietro appeared by his sisters side and picked her up with ease. He looked at the rest of the team sadly. "We will see you on the ship," was all he said before speeding off with Wanda.
Elizabeth put her arm around Natasha as the older woman leaned on her still in shock as they all walked back to the ship. "That's it," Natasha mumbled with tears in her eyes. "It's done."
"Yeah," Elizabeth replied as she felt herself grow empty. Glad that she knew better than to have hope.

The minute they landed back at the Avengers Compound on Earth they all went their separate ways. Each of them needing their own time and space to cope with the realisation that this was how it ends. That they didn't win this one.
Elizabeth rubbed at her eyes tiredly as she walked down the empty entrance of the compound. Steve and Natasha leaving her alone with a pat on the back each, muttering small 'good night's before walking down the dark hallways.
As Elizabeth passed the pantry, she heard soft meows coming from behind the kitchen counter. She frowned to herself in the dark and crept up to the counter slowly. The familiar sounds getting louder and louder. Looking over, she saw the outline of a cat crouching on the ground.
Letting out a laugh of disbelief, Elizabeth immediately reached over and picked up the cat in her arms happily. "Alpine," she murmured into the cats soft fur with a smile. The cat purred as she scratched it behind its ears, before poking its head around.
Alpine meowed and Elizabeth swore the cat was confused when it didn't see the person who usually accompanied Elizabeth. The cat jumped out of her arms before walking in a circle around Elizabeth, falling onto it's back waiting.
"I know you miss him." Elizabeth picked the cat up in her arms once more before taking the slow steps to her bedroom. "I miss him too," she mumbled sadly, putting Alpine up on her shoulders.
Approaching her bedroom door, Elizabeth could already feel Emilie on the other side. She sighed to herself before opening the door wide, her eyes adjusting to the bright lights in the room. Emilie's head snapped in her direction before getting to her feet quickly.
Alpine jumped off her shoulders just in time for Emilie to collide into Elizabeth harshly. She wrapped her arms tightly around Emilie as she felt the older woman cry into her shoulder.
All of her sadness and grief at Emilie losing her husband was a feeling that Elizabeth knew too well. She hugged Emilie tighter as her cries rang in her ears and Elizabeth felt somewhat responsible for her sadness. They had let them down, didn't they?
"I'm sorry," Elizabeth muttered into her ear with tears in her eyes. "I'm so sorry," she apologised feeling as if it was all their fault. Emilie didn't say anything, she just cried harder. And Elizabeth wondered what she would do with her life now.
