SUIT UP

Elizabeth and Steve walked into the Avengers Tower with Wanda and Pietro trailing behind them. The twins stared at the high ceilings and bright lights in awe. They may have tried to hide it at first but small smiles slowly burst onto their faces happily.

"If you like this, wait till you see the view," Elizabeth stopped at the elevators to face the two.

They waited for the door to open then the small group stepped inside the rather large elevator. The three walls surrounding them were made of glass, save for the wall that attached them to the side of the building. Elizabeth pressed the button that would take them to the floor where Tony and the rest of the team were.

Elizabeth and Steve watched as Pietro and Wanda faced the bright lights of the city below that were illuminated in the dark of the night. Wanda was more collected and cautious with what expressions she showed on her face. Her lips were pressed together lightly but anyone could see that her eyes were bright and gleaming.

Her brother on the other hand smiled widely as he put an arm around his sisters shoulder. Pietro looked down at the streets below with excitement and wonder, never seeing so many lights all at once before. But then he remembered where he was or more specifically whose tower they were in. Then he made his smile drop.

"You okay?" Steve asked Elizabeth as he watched her lean against the wall. The pants she wore were stained red on one side and the shirt she wore was torn at the bottom. The piece of fabric from the shirt now wrapped around her leg in a tourniquet.

Elizabeth brought her gaze away from the twins to wave his concerns away. "I'm fine," she said and it was true. The pain wasn't getting to her as much as before, it only hurt when she poked it. Which she did a lot of on the way to New York from Seoul.

"You sure you don't want to see a medic first?" He asked. His blond hair looking even lighter under the white lights in the elevator. The helmet he wore was now gripped in his hand.

"I wanna take them to Tony," she told Steve as she jutted her head to the twins. "Wanna show them that he's not who they think he is." On the way here, Wanda hadn't given up the fact that she thought Tony would do something wrong with the cradle and the body that lay inside it. Elizabeth was determined to prove them wrong.

Knowing that arguing with her was pointless he let the subject go and looked out the large glass walls. Elizabeth looked back at the two Maximoffs and saw Pietro holding Wanda close to his side. She smiled at the sight, knowing and feeling how much they cared for each other.

But then it made her sad, because she knew she could never love her real family the way these two loved each other. It made the smile drop from her face as she lowered her gaze to the ground. Then, she scolded herself in her head. How could she ever forget about Sam Wilson.

She knew that she'd never hear the end of it from him if he could hear her thoughts right now. Sam was family. He is more like her brother than her real siblings ever were. And Elizabeth was thankful for that and for him.

"You know," Elizabeth interrupted the silence with her voice. "You two are like Luke and Leia," she told the twins with a playful smile.

"Who?" Wanda asked with a furrowed brow. Looking at Pietro, she saw that he had the same confusion written on his face.

Tilting her head at the two, Elizabeth continues. "Skywalker?" When the two showed no signs of recognition she carried on. "Star Wars?"

Pietro looked at his sister with clueless eyes before turning to Elizabeth. "What?" he questioned.

"Oh god," she sighed, putting her head in her hands.

"I know that!" Steve exclaimed excitedly. "Star Wars, I watched it." He informed Elizabeth as if she wasn't the one who explained to him the meaning behind every movie once he was done.

"Good job, grandpa." Elizabeth muttered as she patted him on the back.

Wanda spoke up from across her. "We only watched old television sitcoms." Pietro seemed surprised at his sisters willingness to tell Elizabeth and Steve this information, but he nodded along with her words nonetheless.

Elizabeth smiled at her warmly. "So stuff like 'I love Lucy' and 'Fresh Prince of Bel Air'?" She tried to get to know the twins a bit more.

"Yes," Wanda sent her a genuine smile and a nod of her head. "But I do not know the Fresh Prince one," she added with her Sokovian accent sounding especially thick on the name of the tv show.

"I'll show it to you one day," Elizabeth offered. Wanda didn't say anything in return. She just gave Elizabeth a half-hearted smile before looking back at the lights below them.

Feeling the change in mood, Pietro turned to the two Avengers. "This is a long elevator ride, no?"

"Yeah, we have a lot of floors here," Steve agreed as he checked back on the numbers above the door that were slowly increasing.

Soon enough, the metal doors slid open and the four of them walked out, Steve and Elizabeth leading the way. The closer they got to the lab, the louder the voices of Bruce and Tony got. Elizabeth didn't get much, only familiar words that caused a memory to flood her brain.

"Steve," Elizabeth stopped the man slowly before they could enter the lab. Elizabeth looked up ahead and saw Bruce and Tony standing above the cradle that had some wires and tubes sticking out of it, only meaning one thing.

Pietro and Wanda watched Steve and her carefully. "They are doing it again," she muttered to him quietly, making sure that Wanda and Pietro couldn't hear her.

Not believing what was going on, Steve scoffed before he stormed into the room with the three of them right behind him. "I'm gonna say this once," Steve made their presence known.

Tony and Bruce looked up from their work in surprise. Where Bruce looks surprised and mildly startled, Tony was more annoyed. "How about nonce?" he retorted.

"Shut it down," Steve instructed.

Shaking his head, Tony moved from the computer screen to walk up next to Bruce. "Nope," he said confidently.

"You don't know what you're doing," Steve tried once more. Elizabeth decided not to engage in the conversation, only watching from the side. She still kept a close hold on everyones emotions, ready to put them all under and shut it down herself if it came to that.

Bruce stood up straight to point a pen at Steve. "And you do?" he accused. "She's not in your head?" he moved the pen to point at Wanda this time.

Cautiously, Wanda moved from the protection of her brother to stand beside Steve. "I know you are angry," she started with care.

"Oh I'm way past angry," Bruce corrected, unbelievably calm. "I could choke the life out of you and not change a shade." At his words, Pietro took a step closer to his sister protectively.

"Come on Tony, don't make the same mistake again." Elizabeth tried to reason with him. "I told them you wouldn't do this and you're making me look really bad right now," she gestured to Pietro and Wanda with a grimace on her face. Not liking that she was wrong about this.

Seeing that Tony was not gonna listen to any of them, Steve turned to Bruce. Knowing that he was the least stubborn out of the two. "Banner, after everything that's happened-" Steve was cut off by Tony.

"It is nothing compared to what's coming!" He exclaimed in frustration. Not understanding why his friends couldn't understand that he was just trying to save them.

It then turned into a full blown argument. With voices overlapping each other and yelling. Elizabeth was slowly losing her focus on their emotions, so she knew what had to be done. Turning around, she looked at Pietro, knowing that he was thinking about the same this she was. "You know what to do," she told him as he nodded in confirmation.

Pietro left a blur of blue behind him as he ran around the cradle, unplugging whatever wires that he saw. Whether it was for a computer, the cradle or a coffee machine, he pulled it out quickly. He wasn't an electrician or a scientist but he had enough common sense to know that if it wasn't charged it probably wasn't gonna work.

When the dust settled and Pietro stood at one end of the cradle with a large wire in hand everyone stopped talking. "No, no go on." He said sarcastically as all eyes turned on him. "You were saying?"

Pietro had made a move to say something else when there was the sound of a gunshot and the glass floor beneath him collapsed. All of them stared in shock at the place where Pietro had been while Wanda called out her brothers name. Elizabeth was ready to check if it was a threat when Tony informed them all that it was only Clint.

The sound of fast beeping from one the computers alerted Tony. "I'm rerouting one of the uploads," he said to Bruce.

The words not sounding like something he wanted to hear, Steve took his shield off it's place on his back and threw it at whatever computers he could find. Throwing it at the perfect angle, it ricocheted of whatever computers were around. Electrical sparks flew as the piece of metal came back to Steve.

In retaliation, Tony got a piece of his suit on his hand and fired at Steve, making him fly back into a nearby table. Wanda made a move to do something but stopped when Bruce came up behind her and held her in a choke hold.

"Go on piss me off some more," he threatened her. "See what it'll do."

Focusing hard on him, Elizabeth made Bruce calm down enough that his grip on Wanda loosened a bit. Finding the opportunity, Wanda used her powers and shoved him to the ground. Bruce slid back a bit on the floor. He then decided that it was in fact in everyone's best interest if he calmed down.

Elizabeth turned to Steve and Tony only to see the latter get pushed back into a wall of glass. Small pieces of glass spraying everywhere and onto the ground. Seeing that Steve and Tony were going to get up, she concentrated to make everyone in the room feel a quick burst of pain. Not enough to actually make them collapse to the ground, but enough to stun them for a moment.

Suddenly, Thor came bursting in through the door with his hammer. He jumped up onto the cradle and lifted his hammer up, charging it with electricity before striking down on the cradle. The whole room erupted in bright light and the crackle of electricity.

It was over just as quickly as it came, Thor retracted the hammer before standing up to his full height on the cradle. They all watched in surprise as the cradle burst open from the inside, sending Thor spiraling back onto the ground beside Elizabeth.

A man-ish looking figure emerged from inside and came to a crouch on top of the cradle with his head hung low. The only thing that made her question whether or not he really was a person was the strange red colour of his skin and the gem that sat in the center of his head.

Slowly, he stood up and took a look at himself for the first time. His arms and legs and body before tapping a finger to the yellow gem that sat in the center of his head. Then, he inspected all of their faces carefully as his eyes moved from one to the other before landing on Thor.

As if finding what he had been looking for, he sprang forward to tackle him. Expecting it, Thor ducked just in time before catching the body in his hands. Thor flinging him through the glass wall of the lab and into the living room where they had a party just a few days ago.

The man stopped before the large window displaying all of New York in the middle of the night. He reached a hand out as if to graze the glass. Thor jumped out of the lab with Steve right behind him, both chasing after the man.

Those that were left in the lab looked at each other in silence. "He is calm," Elizabeth spoke up as she felt the emotions of the man. "But also confused," she added at Tony and Bruce's confused gaze. They all made their way out into the living room to see what was going on.

They all watched as the man made some sort of synthetic clothes for himself as he came down to the ground. "I'm sorry," he began and Elizabeth took note of how he sounded a lot like Jarvis. "That was odd," he continued with a glance to his side at Thor. Thinking for a moment, the man made a replica of Thor's cape for himself.

"Thor," Steve called out. "You helped create this?" He asked in bewilderment since Thor was the only person besides Steve who was mad at Tony for the creation of Ultron.

"I've had a vision." Thor stated.  "A whirlpool sucks in all hope of life and at the center of it, is that." He points to the yellow gem in the center of the Vision's forehead.

"What, the gem?" Bruce asks, not knowing it's importance. To the rest of them it was simply a fancy looking rock.

"That's the mind stone," Thor corrected. "It's one of the six infinity stones. One of the greatest powers in the universe, unparalleled in it's destructive capabilities." He explained to the rest of them.

Steve, not understanding why that would be a good thing, turns to Thor questioningly. "Then why would you help bring it to life?"

As if knowing the effect his next words have Thor sighed before speaking. "Cause Stark is right."

"Oh, it's definitely the end times," Bruce muttered as Elizabeth nodded in agreement. Earning a light shove from Tony who stood beside her.

Thor ignored the three's small banter. "The Avengers cannot defeat Ultron."

"Not alone," The Vision added.

"Why does your Vision sound like Jarvis?" Steve asked as he looked closely at the Vision. Trying to find any other traces of the AI in the man other than it's voice.

Tony walked up to the Vision slowly, his eyes never leaving it as she spoke. "We reconfigured Jarvis' matrix to create something new."

"I think we've had enough 'new' for a few years," Elizabeth commented distastefully.

"You think I am a child of Ultron," the Vision stated once he saw everyones unsure looks. "I am not Ultron, I am not Jarvis. I am," he trailed off as he stared at his own hands. Elizabeth felt how confused he was at himself, not knowing who or what he was.

Wanda walked up to him with her head cocked to the side. "I looked in your head and saw annihilation," she said.

"Look again," the vision offered.

"Listen, their powers, the horrors in our heads, Ultron himself all that came from the mind stone." Thor said with a glance at the Maximoffs. "But they're nothing compared to what it can unleash. But with it on our side,"

"Are you?" Steve turned to the Vision. "On our side?"

"I don't think it's that simple." The Vision replied after a moment of thought.

"Then dumb it down for us," Elizabeth pressed on, wanting to know the answer.

"I am on the side of life," he decided with a nod of his head to himself. "Ultron isn't, he will end it all."

Tony piped up with a question, "Then what is he waiting for?"

"You," The Vision answered simply as they all looked at Tony.

"Where?" Bruce asked for more details.

"Sokovia," Clint answered them much to most of their surprise. "Ultron's got Nat there too."

"If we're wrong about you," Bruce walked up to the Vision as he spoke slowly. "If you're the monster that Ultron made you to be."

"What will you do?" the Vision asked once he saw no ones immediate response. "I don't want to kill Ultron, he's unique and he is in pain," he continued.

"But that pain will roll over the earth, so he must be destroyed. Every form he's built, every trace of his presence on the net," The Vision stated thoughtfully as he walked around them. "We need to act now, and not one of us can do it without the other."

"Maybe I am a monster, I don't think I'd know if I were one." Elizabeth felt a twinge of sadness at his words but she pushed it down. "I am not what you are and not what you intended, so there may be no way to make you trust me. But we need to go."

At his last words, the Vision bent down and picked Thor's hammer off a nearby table with ease. He handed it to the god casually before walking out of the room. Those left in the room stared at Thor with wide eyes. He tried to laugh it off but everyone could see the shock in his eyes as he walked after the Vision.

Steve turned to face the rest of the team with a deep breath. "Three minutes," he told them all. "Get what you need," was all he said before walking off.

Elizabeth made a move to go up to her room to change. But she was stopped by Tony at the elevators. "Come with me," he told her vaguely.

Not sure what else to do, she followed him as he led her down to the basement where they kept all the weapons, suits and vehicles they'd need for missions. "I know what's down here if you're asking," she told the man who hasn't said a words the whole way down. "Where do you think I hid when Thor found out I recorded over his favourite show?"

"Shush," Tony swatted at her as they both walked up to her side of the room. It was relatively empty compared to the others, save for a couple of knives and a pair of boots. Elizabeth watched as Tony pressed a button on the phone in his hand and the walls opened up to reveal what she's always been asking him for.

"You made me a suit!" She exclaimed happily as she grabbed his arm out of excitement. It wasn't much honesty. It was a simple sleek black two piece suit with dark blue finishing. The sleeve's of the top half stopped just past her elbows and the collar went up till her neck. Still, it meant a lot to her.

It meant so much that she didn't realise that Tony was talking beside her. "-and it's got some heat-tech that'll keep you warm since you complain too much about it being cold." Tony looked over to see her smiling at him widely.

"Thank you," Elizabeth said as she squeezed his upper arm lightly. "I mean it."

She could feel Tony get slightly embarrassed but he covered it up with a joke. "Wow," he nodded his head at her stiffly. "I should have gotten that on camera." The two laughed lightly as Elizabeth shoved him playfully.

Tony left her alone after that to get ready for their mission. Quickly changing into her suit, she saw that Tony really didn't lie when he said it would keep her warm. It was also super comfortable, probably because all she had been wearing on past missions were t-shirts and tights.

She grabbed her knife with the familiar engravings on the handle, knowing that it wasn't gonna do much in a fight against robot's anyway. But it was comforting to know it was with her. She was about to leave but the sight of her phone on one of the tables stopped her.

Elizabeth contemplating calling Bucky to tell him that she meant everything she said that day in his apartment. The she couldn't help but always have him in the back of her mind despite everything that was going on. She wanted to call him just to hear his voice before she left, even if it was a pointless talk, she just wanted to hear him.

She also wanted to tell him that she may not come back from this mission. Bu she knew it wouldn't do either of them any good so she left the phone where it was and made her way back upstairs.
