I KNOW
The black Porsche pulled up into the parking lot of the airport making Steve and Bucky turn their heads toward the sound of the revving engine. The car skidded to a stop a few parking spots away from where he stood. The windows of the car may been heavily tinted but Bucky already knew who sat in the drivers seat.
Elizabeth turned the engine off before opening the car door and stepping out. She watched Steve and Bucky walked toward the car, smiling as her eyes met Bucky's. Once he was close enough he pulled her in for a sweet kiss.
"Nice car," he stated with his arm around her shoulder. She smiled up at him playfully.
"But is it even yours?" Steve spoke up with a knowing glance at her. She had a knack for stealing cars in his eyes, but she liked to use the term borrowing. The owner would get it back, eventually.
She rolled her eyes at him. Elizabeth had planned to answer him but another voice beat her to it. "What do you think?" Pietro asked sarcastically as he slammed the left side of the car door shut.
Wanda came out from the other side with a glare at her brother. "Do not slam it," she chided. "We are supposed to give it back." Steve watched their exchange with a shake of his head and an exasperated expression that told Bucky that the twins did this a lot.
"Whatever helps you sleep at night," Pietro retorted before coming to stand across from Steve, his sister following closely behind.
"You kids okay?" Steve asked the two in concern. Focusing more on how Wanda reacted to the question rather than her brother. Wanda nodded silently while Pietro moved to the left to stand in front of Bucky.
Bucky looked back down at Elizabeth for help when Pietro tilted his head to look up at Bucky, who stood a few inches taller. Elizabeth shrugged with an amused smile on her lips. "I thought you'd be taller," Pietro blurted out.
"Pietro!" Wanda exclaimed in surprise, growing embarrassed for her brother. Pietro looked at her innocently as Steve and Elizabeth chuckled under their breaths. Wanda grabbed Pietro by the arm harshly before dragging him off to the side, muttering to him in Sokovian.
"What was that about?" Bucky asked her in confusion.
"I may or may not have told them about you," Elizabeth offered an explanation.
He raised an eyebrow at her. "That doesn't explain why I'm not up to this guys standards." He joked with a teasing smile.
"Spoke about you, bragged about you, same thing." She waved a hand up to pat the side of his face affectionately. When Wanda and Pietro asked about The Winter Soldier, Elizabeth had gone on about Bucky. While Wanda listened happily and asked questions, Pietro grew fed up with her gushing about him.
Bucky didn't say anything, he simply stared down at her with a loving smile on his face. "You know I love you, right?" He asked as she leaned into his arms.
"I know," she answered cheekily before resting her head on his shoulder. "And I love you too, by the way," She added after a moment of silence and she felt him let out a laugh from him chest.
Pietro and Wanda walked back up to them slowly, Pietro running away from his sister to sit on the hood of the car. "Where's Sam?" Wanda asked as she looked around the empty parking lot.
"He probably left to look at birds," Pietro commented as he laid down flat on the car. His comment making Bucky hold back an unwanted laugh.
"He'll be here soon, he had to grab someone." Steve ignored Pietro as he informed Wanda and Elizabeth, crossing his arms over his chest.
As if on cue, there was the sound of a door shutting loudly from the end of the empty space. They all turned to see Sam and another man walk through the door leading to the staircase. Sam and the man bickered back and forth and occasionally shoved one another to the side.
"I got the Tic-Tac!" Sam announced as his voice echoed off the walls. The two walked up to the group with a quickened pace when they saw the expectant looks they were getting.
"That's not my name," the man corrected as he struggled to keep up with Sam's fast strides. He walked past Wanda to stand in front of Steve. "I'm Scott Lang, or Ant-Man." Scott stuck his hand out excitedly as Steve shook it. Sam faked some gagging noises and went over to the Beatle that held all of their gear.
Pietro pushed himself of the Porsche and sped in a circle around Scott, stopping by the mans side only to send him a scrutinizing gaze. "But you don't look like an ant," Pietro observed with a furrowed brow.
"Yeah well, you see. It's a thing," Scott tried explaining with his arms open, hoping to get Pietro to understand the name.
"What thing?" Pietro continued on. Whether he knew exactly what Scott was talking about or just hoped to cause some stress, no one knew. They never did anyway.
Scotts shoulders dropped in defeat as his cheeks turned red slightly. "I, uh. Never mind." Scott gave up before turning to look back at Steve. "Can I just say what a huge honour it is to have you call on me, sir." Scott smiled at Steve excitedly before leaning forward to pat him on the shoulder with a quiet 'wow' under his breath.
Scott turned his gaze behind him to look at Wanda and Pietro. "I know you two, you're great by the way." He nodded at the twins happily to which he got two friendly and unsure smiles in return.
Looking back at Elizabeth he smiled at her with a small 'hi' to which she reciprocated. Lastly, he looked at Bucky warily. "I'm kinda scared of you, not gonna lie," he muttered sheepishly. Bucky managed a slight nod of his head before his gaze turned to the ground, unsure of how to feel about that.
"What took you guys so long?" Elizabeth asked Sam as she and Bucky made their way to the trunk of the blue Beatle. "It's not like you had to fly all the way to San Francisco." Sam was supposed to pick Scott up at one of the terminals in the airport that they now stood in, but it took longer than expected.
Sam scoffed as her words as he took out his suit from the trunk. "Don't blame me," he told her as he jutted his head to where Scott stood, still raving over Steve. "Tic-Tac over there got lost."
"It's not my fault it's all in German!" The three heard Scott defend himself frantically, wanting to make a good impression on the group that stood around him. Sam merely ignored the man as he shoved a pair of tactical gear into Bucky's chest roughly, making his arm slide off Elizabeth's shoulder.
"I guess that's everyone," Steve muttered quietly as he looked at the faces around him. All of them nodding in agreement. "Anyone tell you what we're up against?" Steve asked Scott. Elizabeth moved to sit on the hood of the car as she watched the two speak.
"Something about some psycho assassins?" Scott repeated what Sam had told him once he had first landed in Germany.
Steve nodded, deciding that Scott was more or less correct. "We're outside the law on this one, and that makes you a wanted man."
Scott shrugged nonchalantly. "Well what else is new?" He asked sarcastically in a way that told them he wasn't unfamiliar with the police.
Taking it as his way of agreeing, Steve looked past Scott to see Wanda and Pietro conversing between themselves quietly. "Alright then," he got everyone's attention. "Let's get ready then."
Elizabeth pushed herself off the car and made her way past Scott and Steve to the twins. "You guys good?" She asked the two of them. They both nodded their heads and Elizabeth let her eyes trail to the clothes they wore, making sure they were prepared. "You're wearing that?" She asked Wanda unsurely.
Wanda looked down to the skirt and corset that she wore, she tugged the red jacket over her shoulders subconsciously. "What's wrong with this?" She asked Elizabeth.
Looking between Pietro and Wanda she saw the difference between their attires. Pietro wore proper running shoes and a tracksuit. On the other hand, even Elizabeth knew how uncomfortable it would be to fight in what Wanda was wearing.
"Nothing," Elizabeth made sure to let her know that there was nothing wrong with it, visually. "It's just, you sure wanna go to Siberia in that?" She remembered her first time in Sokovia with the rest of the team. It was cold and she was unprepared.
"Well not all of us can have your fancy suit," Wanda retorted with a wave of her hand to the suit that Elizabeth had changed into on the plane on the way to Berlin. "And we left in such a hurry, this is all I have."
Pietro smirked at his sister with a fake pout. "Sucks to be you," he teased before speeding off to the stairwell. He left a trail of light blue streaks behind him, alerting the rest of the group.
"Where are you going?" Elizabeth called after him loudly with a frown. She should've known better than to expect him to sit still.
There was the sound of the door to the staircase opening and a shout from Pietro. "I'm hungry!" He shouted back before he was gone for good.
Sighing, Elizabeth walked Wanda over to the back of the black Porsche they rode here in. Opening the trunk, she ruffled through the duffel bag until she found what she was looking for. She smiled proudly and tossed the pair of tights at Wanda.
"If you wanna keep the whole angsty teen look, then at least wear some pants," Elizabeth said as Wanda held out the pair of pants before her. "It's cold and not to mention it might make fighting just a little difficult."
Bunching up the pants in one hand, Wanda nodded with a small thanks before heading toward the stairwell in search of a bathroom. "Bring your brother back!" Elizabeth yelled after her and received a thumbs up in return.
Steve came to lean against the trunk next to her as they both watched as the door closed behind Wanda. Where and when he had time to change into his suit she didn't want to know. He stood beside her with his eyes on the closed door. "You don't have to do this, you know." Steve stated with a sigh. She's done enough for him and he knew that.
But as Elizabeth turned behind her to see Sam and Bucky bickering over something behind them she knew she'd made up her mind. Bucky met her eye and waved with his flesh hand, causing her to smile. "I know," she told Steve. She took the hair tie off her wrist and played with it in her fingers absentmindedly.
As she tied her hair up there was an announcement from the speakers in the parking lot, something in German that she didn't understand. She looked back at Bucky for a translation as he listened to the words.
"They're evacuating the airport," he translated for them all briefly as he shrugged on the vest that Sam handed to him.
Steve sighed once he knew what that meant. There was only one person they knew that could clear a whole airport out with one word. "Stark," he muttered with a grim face.
"Wait a minute," Scott interrupted them with his eyes wide. "Stark, like Tony Stark?"
"Sadly, yes." Elizabeth answered while Scott whispered a quiet 'oh damn,' to himself, no doubt starstruck, or Starkstruck as she would say.
Soon, Pietro and Wanda came back. Both of them holding a pretzel each, munching away happily. "Wow, thanks for asking what I wanted," Sam commented sarcastically as he eyes the food hungrily.
"You're welcome," Pietro fake smiled at Sam as they all crowded around the small blue Beatle.
Steve waited for the two to finish their bickering before he began. "All right," he started with a glance at everyone around him. "Let's go over the plan."
