EDINBURGH

"Why are we going to Edinburgh again?" Elizabeth asked Steve as they all ran around the motel room frantically. Sam and Natasha ran back and forth between the two connecting rooms with armful of clothes in their arms.

Ever since their fallout with the other half of the Avengers, Sam, Elizabeth, Steve and Natasha had been on the run. Jumping from place to place and staying in a city no more than a week. They had even managed to make it all the way to Austria, which is where they were now.

Elizabeth peered out from behind the curtain to see the dark streets of Vienna. She turned around to see Steve grab his suit out from one of the duffel bags that sat on the single bed. Over the nearly two years that they had been on the run, Steve had changed.

And not just by his suit which had fading colours, he had decided to grow out a beard-whether it was so no one would recognise him or because he was having an identity crisis, they didn't know. Which at first didn't sit right with any of them, they had all been so used to seeing him with a clean face. But as time passed on, they got used to it.

However, Steve wasn't the only one to make any changes to his appearance. Natasha had gone blonde. Well maybe blonde wasn't entirely accurate, she had gone so platinum blonde that her hair was practically blonde. Red hair wasn't exactly helpful when they were trying to hide from the government in almost every country.

In addition to change in colour, Natasha had cut her hair short so that it barely brushed her shoulders. Sam and Elizabeth on the other hand hadn't done anything more than buy a few extra pairs of sunglasses and baseball caps to fly under the radar.

"Banner called," Steve answered her question from earlier just as Sam walked into the room with his wings in one hand. "He needs us."

"Banner, as in Bruce?" Elizabeth asked for confirmation and Steve nodded his head slowly. The last time any of them had seen him was in Sokovia. That was practically a lifetime ago, before all of this.

Sam placed his folded wings by the door to the room. He crossed his arms over the maroon t-shirt he wore. "Where is he?"

Natasha walked into the room as she strapped her knives and batons against her thighs. "He said he's back in New York," she informed them before bending down and lacing up her boots.

"So the compound," Elizabeth said as they all thought about the place they could call home. Some more than others. "Is Tony with him?"

Steve halted his movements by the door and inhaled sharply at the name. "Tony is," he began as he searched for a way to put it lightly. "He's in space."

She blinked once, then twice at his words. "What do you mean Tony is in space?" She repeated his words frantically. "Like on the moon?" Elizabeth stood rigid for a moment as she processed the information. Space, wow.

"Most likely," Natasha shrugged. "Bruce also said to bring Vision," Natasha continued, standing up straight as she brushed her light hair out of her face. "Not sure why though," she shrugged.

"So that's why we need to go to Edinburgh," Elizabeth thought aloud as she chewed the inside of her cheek, her eyes darting to the duffel bag where she knew her suit laid inside. "Wanda and Pietro?" She asked Steve about the twins, wondering if they had a part to play in whatever was coming.

He placed his hands on his hips with a thoughtful look on his face. "If they're where we left them then they should be with Vision," he told her. "Get ready," he continued on when he saw both Sam and Elizabeth were in their casual wear. "From what Banner told us, we're not the only ones after Vision."

It wasn't hard to find them once Elizabeth and the team had touched down in Edinburgh. First, they went to the address that Vision had given Steve a while back. But when they saw no one was home, they noticed the rubble from across the street.

There were scattered pieces of bricks every few steps that they took. Small corners of buildings were chipped off and they found a statue that had been toppled over, littering the ground with pieces of metal and stone.

Eventually they found who they were looking for inside an empty train station. Elizabeth peered in through the large entrance and managed to make out the blurry figures of both Wanda and Pietro standing beside each other, facing off two people.

Or from what she saw, the word aliens seemed more accurate. One being a female with long dark blue hair with dramatic eye makeup, and another being an almost seven foot tall male who vaguely resembled the grim reaper with his scythe and hood.

"I can't see Vision," she told the three behind her with their backs against the brick wall.

Sam tapped the side of his tinted goggles with a smirk. "I got it," he said and there was a soft 'beep' as he stared straight through the brick wall. Steve, Natasha and Elizabeth waited patiently for Sams observation. "I have eyes on him," he announced in a low whisper. "He's behind the twins, by the train tracks."

Steve nodded along to Sams words, a plan slowly forming in his head. "Here's what's gonnna happen," he began carefully as they all listened intently. "Sam, you're gonna go up and come in through the roof. Natasha and Lizzie, you two will move in from behind and ambush them." She nodded at Natasha with a smile, always having fun when they were paired up.

"What about you?" Natasha asked curiously with a tilted head at Steve.

He sighed before glancing back inside the station, seeing Pietro running circles around his opponent as Wanda took care of hers. "I'm gonna distract them a bit," he stated to the three of them. "Now that that's covered, let's move out."

Elizabeth and Natasha crept inside the train station slowly, careful not to alert anyone. Elizabeth watched as Wanda and Pietro tried to keep the two unknown threats away from Vision who lay on the ground, clutching his stomach. The two of them hid behind a large pillar with their backs pressed against it.

Looking up, she saw Sam quietly rest on a beam suspended between the roofs. He nodded down when he saw her looking, all three of them waiting for Steve to make the first move. On the other side of the tracks there was the sound of metal wheels on the tracks.

They all heard the train before they saw it. Wanda and Pietro stopped next to each other by the edge pf the platform. The train passed behind them with a loud rush of wind, making their hair ruffle slightly.

The two aliens across from the twins stopped their movements when they saw something odd from behind the train. Through the short and quick breaks between each train carriage there was a figure standing on the other side of the platform.

When the train had fully passed, Elizabeth saw a figure standing in the shadows who she presumed as Steve. Wanda and Pietro looked at each other in confusion, unsure of who was behind them and which side they were on. However, they quickly found the answer when one of their opponents threw her staff straight toward the man.

Steve sidestepped the oncoming weapon faster than Elizabeth could see. He caught the staff in one hand, making her feel everyones -except her, Sam and Natasha- surprise at the action. As Steve took a step forward into the white lights of the station, she saw Wanda and Pietro smirk at the friendly face.

"You guys are going to get it now," She could hear Pietro say smugly through heavy breaths.

Natasha turned to Elizabeth with a smirk. "You ready?" She asked.

"Of course," Elizabeth responded as she felt her hands slowly heat up with a tingling sensation. The two smiled at each other once more before sprinting out from behind the pillar.

From above, Sam flew down to kick their female opponent right in the chest. She flew back into a nearby taco shop as the glass shattered around her body.

Elizabeth and Natasha split up for the remaining person. From the other side of the platform, Steve yelled Elizabeth's name before tossing the weapon that was in his hands. She caught the weapon in her hands steadily.

Natasha went for a kick to his chest as she dodged the scythe in his hand. The force of her kick made the man/alien stumble back straight into where Elizabeth had the tip of the staff positioned. The tip of the staff protruded out from his chest as some weird green stuff that she could only assume as blood dripped onto the floor.

Elizabeth had made a move to turn the weapon in her hand while it was still in the chest of her opponent when she felt a hard punch to the back of her kneecaps. The force took her by surprise and she fell to her knees, losing her grip on the long staff.

She turned around on her knees to see the blue haired woman with a glare on her face. Before she could take another step closer, Elizabeth raised her arms and threw a blast of energy to the chest of the person in front of her.

Elizabeth got up on her feet as her opponent was flung back across the ground before she skidded to a stop in a crouch. When she looked up, Elizabeth didn't need to feel her emotions to know she was well beyond pissed. From the train tracks, she saw Steve climb his way up onto the platform.

He looked at the person in front of him who was slowly making her way into a stand before he locked eyes with Elizabeth. Without another word, she spun on her heel and reached over to grab the end of the staff that was still embedded in the chest of the alien man who was blocking the oncoming attacks from Natasha and her pair of batons with his own long staff.

When her hand gripped the hard end of the staff she twisted it harshly, making him let out a loud roar of pain. Not wanting to waste any more time, she pulled the weapon out as Natasha continued her advance on her enemy .

Looking back at Steve, she saw their female opponent standing a few feet away from him. She shifted the weapon in her hand before raising it to her eyes level. The woman/alien saw what she was doing and squinted curiously. Elizabeth took aim and hurled the staff at Steve, the weapon passing the side of her opponents face in a blur.

Steve caught it in his right hand and the woman alien turned to face him with a scowl. The two proceeded in a one-on-one fight, Steve clearly having the upper hand. As the two went back and forth, she turned around and fixed her gaze on Natasha, ready to help.

Only to find that she had her enemy flat on his back against the closed front of a Famous-Amos shop. Natasha had his own scythe in her hand and she pointed it at his head as he gripped at his chest that was oozing green blood.

Seeing that Natasha had it all settled out, she made a move to turn and help Steve. But she saw there was no need as Sam held their opponent up by her shoulders as he flew past Elizabeth and threw her down onto the hard ground next to her partner.

Sam landed beside Natasha and Steve and Elizabeth made their way to stand at the other end of the two. The four of them looked down at the two on the ground with their weapons raised threateningly.

"We don't wanna kill you," Natasha said with the scythe in her hand raised. "But we will," she continued, and none of them doubted that they would.

The woman looked up at her with her lips pressed into a fine line. "You won't get the chance again." With that, she pressed down onto her partners chest and a bright blue light shined down on them through the ceiling. The bean acted like a magnet as it pulled the two on the ground up. No doubt into their super secret space ship.

The four of them watched as the two aliens disappeared through the roof. Even though they were gone from sight, the blue light still shined down. Both of the weapons in Steve and Natasha's hands were pulled up into the light before it disappeared for good.

Sam kept both of his pistols back in his holsters and Elizabeth lowered her hands. On the sidelines, the four saw as Wanda knelt beside Vision who leaned against a wall. Pietro stood up beside the couple with a large grin on his face.

"I have missed you guys," he said in excitement as if he had just finished watching a fast paced action movie. The group walked towards the three with faint smiles on their faces.

"Thanks for all your help," Sam said sarcastically as he crossed his arms across his chest, obviously somewhat annoyed at their lack of participation.

Wanda stood up from Vision side to stand beside her brothers as she faced them all. "We should be telling you that," she turned it around on them with a grateful smile on her pretty face.

Steve brushed away her thanks with a nod of his head. Elizabeth moved to stand between Wanda and Pietro, pulling the both of them into a tight hug. Patting both of their backs affectionately. Wanda may have changed, she looked older but also somewhat happier, Pietro on the other hand still had that childish grin on his face from the first time they became friends.

Sam walked over to Vision and winced when he saw the long gash running down his stomach. He bent down to help Vision stand and Pietro moved to assist the two. Elizabeth reached a hand up and wiped the dripping blood from the gash on Wanda's forehead.

"Come on," Steve said once Pietro and Sam had got Vision up and walking with their help. "Let's get you three back on the jet."
