CHAPTER 32
Laura
Indigo gave a threatening growl when I entered with the healer. Violet was trembling, her eyes full of tears and breathing coming out uneven. “It’s going to be fine baby.” I rushed to her side and wiped her tears off.
“It hurts. It hurts so… so much.” She cried more as she screamed, clutching her head. “Ahhhhhh…”
Tears threatened to spill from my eyes. I told the healer to quickly get her things ready while Klaus talked to Indigo. She moved ahead with the bottle to feed Violet but Indigo growled again.
“Indigo.. Please let her give me that.. I don’t care..please I can’t take it..” Violet cried out before I could say anything.
He pushed back and nodded, shutting his eyes. The healer quickly stood on the other side of the bed and looked down at Violet. She held Violet’s hand in hers and muttered something under her breath. Violet’s eyes were only on the medicine. She was so looking forward to this.
The healer stopped and opened the bottle. The transparent liquid in the bottle changed its colour to a dark green. “Goddess, guide the medication.” She whispered shutting her eyes once and then opened them to smile down at Violet. “Take this.”
In an instant Violet pushed the liquid down her throat. The healer set her hands on Violet’s head and told her to sit straight. Violet cried because she wasn’t able to so I helped her, holding her body still, hugging her in a way that kept her straight. The healer began saying something again under her breath, making it very difficult for me to hear. This was a fact about healers that their words can never be heard when they heal someone. They believe in the purity of their words and want none to hear them and destroy them.
While doing so she ran her hands from Violet’s head to her back. She did the same thing thrice and said, “it’ll take some time. Less than an hour I hope.” I nodded and made Violet sleep again.
“Can you still be on standby? I don’t know if I’ll need you again.” I linked her and she nodded with a smile. After she left, Indigo moved over the bed again and put her head on his lap.
We waited for an hour but Violet didn’t say anything, although her cries had come down. “What time is it?” She asked.
“It’s almost ten, little one.” Indigo had her in his lap the whole time. He wasn’t even letting Klaus near her. So Klaus just sat at the edge of the couch, his eyes never leaving her and he looked so worried.
“Why… ahh..” She clutched her eyes tight as she squirmed because her hands and legs were experiencing the shift. “Why isn’t the medicine working?” She cried, looking at Indigo with crying red eyes.
“We’ll find something soon.” He was helpless. Goddess! I could feel his torment as he answered her. He laid her down and let her limbs move as she saw fit.
“I am so sorry, baby.” I said. I on the other hand was feeling useless at this moment. I was doing so much in life. But that so much seemed so less, negligible almost because I couldn’t help my own pup. I just couldn’t stop the feeling of being hopeless. It was clawing at me.
“It’s not your fault.” She said softly and rolled on her side, laying like a wolf sleeping on its side with its limbs spread in front of it. That was one sign of her wolf.
Indigo looked at me as if he had lost. He even had to go check on the pups who were going to shift today. Fuck, it was hard to even leave her for him. All I could do was stand next to him and hold him close.
An hour later, Violet started vomiting all her gut. She was resting one minute and the next minute she just got up and threw up everything on Indigo who was sitting on the edge of the bed. Indigo didn’t let it bother him, he just rubbed her back and held her in a way that wouldn’t hurt her. Klaus quickly ran into the bathroom and brought a wet cloth for her to wipe her face while I cleaned the floor. She began clutching her chest, her breathing growing heavy minute by minute.
I swiped with Indigo as he went into the bathroom to clean up. But Violet kept throwing up, crying and kneeling on all fours. “Ribs..” She sucked in a big breath and looked at me before continuing, “breaking..”
“I know, baby. I know.” I cooed her.
She struggled and struggled with her breathing and kept asking for water because her throat was running dry. Klaus ran down and brought a straw bottle for her so she could easily drink it. She drank hungrily but kept throwing that up too.
Indigo came in quickly and sat down on the other side of her. He touched her back and she screamed in agony, so loud, Indigo almost flinched. “It’s her back.” I told him to assure him.
She crouched low as her back doubled in pain and she began screaming. “Just an hour more, baby.” I reminded her.
“I can’t.. I can’t do this….No!!” She cried and fell on the bed but as soon as she did, she pushed up and stood on all fours. “God!” She groaned and cried.
“You can, little one. I know you can.” Indigo softly said as he stroked her back.
We were only waiting for the clock to turn twelve. Thirty minutes, then fifteen, then ten and five…the most agonising time of our lives. Violet cried and cried and cried as she shook.
How did she manage all these years fighting her pain? How could the witch be so heartless to curse her like that? Why do people in the world turn so cruel?
Goddess, I just wanted my pup to be safe. She’s too precious to lose now.
Now that we know the medications the healer had used upon her weren’t working so we were left with either to find her mate or look into the main Library, the Silver Summit Library. None of us wanted to go with the first one so it left us with the latter.
Indigo still didn’t want to raise any suspicion but we had to do something. I knew I had to talk him out of this. I wanted her to be rid of her pain soon.
The toughest part of the night for Indigo actually was that he had to be there for the pups who were supposed to shift tonight. He couldn’t ignore his duties now that he was present in the pack, unlike the five months he was not here.
“We’re not letting her out of our sight, Indigo.” I stood next to Indigo and pulled him close. Klaus moved ahead and sat on the other side of the bed, Indigo’s eyes following his every move. This was his pup, he saw every male a potential threat to her.
Klaus looked back at him for assurance as Violet had stopped trembling, “She is your pup, Alpha. I am just going to take care of her. Luna is here, you don’t need to worry.”
“I am here.” I said, making Indigo look at me as I turned his neck towards me. “If there is any small threat, I’ll call you immediately. I promise.” I linked him, looking in his eyes.
He shut his eyes and nodded. Looking back at me, he pulled back and ran down the stairs. He shifted when he reached down and was on his way.
I turned to look back at Klaus and gave him a tired smile. Goddess, I needed sleep. I hadn’t slept at all for two days straight, my wolf would probably go into hibernation.
Violet was laying on the bed in a baby position. That’s how wolves usually slept but I was worried about it being uncomfortable for her human body. So I tried to talk to her to help her sleep well. “Violet.” I called out softly and bent down to her level.
“Hmm..” She opened her eyes slightly.
“Are you comfortable? Why don’t you spread out?” I ran my fingers in her hair and massaged her head as softly as I could.
“I can’t..” She whispered, turning her head to show me her neck. I moved my fingers over her neck and massaged her. Her lips rose up the slightest as she enjoyed the scratch. I looked at Klaus and he looked at me the same way.
She was so being a wolf right now!
“You should shift, Luna.” Klaus linked me and I brought my eyes back to him. “Your wolf will know how to nurse her better.” He was right. Just when he said that my wolf was ready to be with her pup.
I nodded and took my hands away from her. She squirmed, the smile vanishing again. So Klaus continued, rubbing her head until I shifted. I got behind Klaus and quickly undressed. Jumping I shifted and my wolf began sniffing her way towards Violet.
It wasn’t her she smelt, it was her wolf she smelt. “Klaus, I can smell her wolf.” I told him, moving closer to her and burying my snout under her hands, to sniff her better. Klaus looked at me shocked as he blinked and looked back at her.
“How?” he asked a question to which I didn’t have an answer. I jumped up the bed and my wolf began licking her right away. My wolf was beyond stunned but she couldn’t stop her care for her pup. She bit her, pulled her towards her, licked her again and Violet loved it. She smiled as she buried her face in my fur.
“Klaus, it feels magical. Violet feels magical.” I told him as I purred at the sight and smell of her.
But why was my wolf able to smell her and not me?
“I wish I could..you know.. But it’s fine.” He wanted his wolf to smell her too but I knew it was a bad idea. My wolf straightaway denied it and Indigo would have gone for his neck.
“I am sorry, Klaus.” I said, not taking my eyes off her.
I heard Indigo come up the stairs. He stood at the door just as shocked as me. “I can smell her wolf,” he told us.
“I can too, Indigo and no my human couldn’t do it.” I told him as he slowly moved towards her, sniffing his way. He stood down near the bed but his height was enormous. He brought his snout near her and sniffed her, his tail wagging in joy.
“Goddess! How is this possible?” Indigo asked, his voice happier.
Klaus chuckled and kissed her forehead before getting up. “Here, Indigo.” He said as he moved away and Indigo jumped up on the bed. Indigo rubbed his scent all over her. “I’ll be down. Sleep while she does. Call me if you need anything.” Klaus said and moved down.
“Blue, I cannot find the words to tell you how I am feeling right now.” Indigo linked me as he looked down at her buried in my fur.
“Me neither, Indigo.” I told him as I rubbed my head under his neck, purring.
The bed covers were a mess but we cared less. As the tough night had passed, an easier day had begun. Our wolves slept for a long time with our pup. We hadn’t realised it was beginning to set again and we had work to do. Violet was in hibernation, that much was clear. Klaus was dressed in new clothes now, fresh and clean. Indigo and I did the same until Klaus stayed with Violet.
Her wolf’s scent was still there but we weren’t ready to tell anyone yet. I was guessing she might take a day more to recover. I began clearing all my calls and emails one by one and Indigo did the same. He wasn’t leaving the house soon, so he was just as busy as I was.
I talked to my family and told them about Violet. I didn’t mention her wolf because I didn’t want to go against Indigo’s wishes regarding her just yet.
“They’ve listed Raven’s locations, dad. If you want I can put them in contact with you.” I told him.
“Will do. Ask Indigo about it first.” He suggested.
“Yup. I’ll call you. Bye!” I said and waited until only Logan was there. I knew he wanted to talk to me and he stayed to talk as other’s left.
“Yes, brother.” I breathed out.
“I miss you.” He said.
“I miss you, too. Please don’t worry you idiot. She’s resting well now.” I assured him.
“Goddess, you know me too much. Get out!” he fussed.
I chuckled. “Be scared.”
“Ha! Ha! You don’t have anything to scare me.” He grumbled.
“I don’t have anything but I have everyone. I have Linus, Koralina, Clair and many moreeeeee.” I laughed.
“You know what, I don’t miss you anymore. Bye.” He mumbled.
“Bye!” I laughed, making him growl. “Anyway. I’ll get going. Got work to finish. I love you.” I said and he said the same, taking his leave.
Indigo had Eli and Jane come over to discuss the events. They looked worried but I assured them with a look that she was indeed well and resting. They didn’t even bother to ask Indigo because his wolf was just on the surface with them in the house.
I had a word with the doctors the next day. They were all gathered around as they focused on what I told them. “So I think maybe the potion did actually help her. Not during the shift but atleast after that.”
“Can we get her blood samples tested?” The same healer asked me.
“I’ll give it to you today.” I told her.
“Luna, I think it is the potion as well. I met our two elder healers before giving her potion. It had to stop the pain, if not the curse.” She said with a worried look on her face.
I nodded with a small assuring smile. “I hope it is too so we could administer those doses if you agree. We’ll test her blood samples and her overall health first.”
Later that afternoon I took Violet’s blood sample myself with Indigo’s wolf beside her. He had his eyes on the needle, making me smile. “I should give you one love dose.” I said, pointing the injection towards him.
He glared at me and let out a horny growl, making me laugh. I was about to put the bandage on her hand when Indigo stopped me. He licked the area until he knew it would be enough to heal. I collected the blood in the tube, shook it a few times and quickly named it.
“Hey, dad asked to ask you if they could work with our team to narrow down Raven’s locations.” I told him.
“I mean, if he wants to… there’s no harm.” Indigo said.
“You’re sure about it? Dad doesn’t want to indulge without you liking the idea.” I told him.
“I’m sure. The sooner the better. I’ll inform Vicky to help our team connect with them.” He told me, making me smile.
“Cool then I’ll be back.” I said as I picked up the bag and kissed his wolf. He was so startled as he stared back at me in shock.
“You better be careful, mate.” His voice was in my head as I walked down the stairs.
“I’m scared of a needle.” I said, mimicking his voice.
“You wait and watch.” He growled and I blocked him, laughing to myself.
Ha!
I made my way towards the laboratory and gave them the samples. On my way back I was linked by my team. We were due on monthly meetings and they had a bunch of stuff to discuss. Plus we had to give the council the information regarding the raids and we had to discuss that as well. It was a tough job but I loved it. Everything about the raids was in place, except for Ricardo. I knew I gave him a month and I hoped he came out with a good answer rather than a stupid one.
I carried on with the sessions in the evening and it was so tiring. I wanted to sleep so badly but the situation at hand was important. I had to finish the sessions on and around the given dates, even if I was going to stay here. It was because we needed new members who would join us sooner.
The pack was rather quiet today than the other days. The sessions would be more talkative than it seemed to be today. “Is something wrong?” I asked them as I put the remote down and looked at them. They looked at each other. “You can tell me, please.” I said and moved ahead, leaning on the desk.
“You look tired, dear.” An elder healer said.
I shut my eyes and nodded. “I’m sorry. I didn’t get much sleep in-”
“Goddess!” She chuckled, cutting me. I looked at her. “You shouldn’t be sorry. You should be resting!” She said.
Oh!
I smiled at her. “Yeah.. But work needs to be done. I can’t keep the team waiting because of me. Everything will be messed up and we have events coming up.” I said and almost yawned.
“It’s okay, Luna. We know you have so much going on. But just take care.” She said and the others nodded.
I smiled at her again, my smile tearing because of sleep. We continued with the session for another twenty minutes. I distributed the work amongst Faith and Matt who I had chosen as interns. They were doing perfectly fine and I was relieved.
I went to the pack house, collected our food because we hadn’t had the time to make it. Indigo was busy as well and I had to sit to crosscheck everything for the meeting the next day. I called Ravi and checked with the data, yawning all the time. I seriously needed an assistant. I was overdoing myself and I knew it. Anyway now I didn’t have one and I was left to handle my own shit. It was eleven at night when Indigo called me out to have dinner.
Fuck, how can I forget about food?!
“What time is the meeting?” Indigo asked, eating with his laptop beside him.
“Five in the fucking morning!” I grumbled and stuffed the food in my mouth.
He shut his laptop and put his hand out for me. I looked at him and he waited. Sighing I got up and he picked me up and put me on his lap. I melted on him as the sparks rose and his scent felt dreamy. With one hand he fed me and with the other he massaged my shoulders.
“Weren’t you almost done with the pre-check?” He asked and I nodded.
“Yeah, but the doctors on the team called to give a last minute update. I’ll take not more than fifteen minutes.” I told him as I put my head on his shoulder.
“Uhh-uhh!” He said, putting the spoon aside and kissing my neck.
Fuck!
“Indigo..” I moaned.
“Shhh.” He shushed me and unbuttoned my shirt. I hadn’t even changed my clothes. Goddess! His hands trailed down as he unbuttoned me. He pulled my tuck-in’s out of my pants and undid my bra with his other hand all the while trailing kisses on my neck.
When that bra button came off, I felt like I actually breathed for the first time today.
His hand pushed into my pants and the other came to touch my breast. I let out a gruff moan as his fingers found his way into my panties. I sucked in a breath when he dipped his fingers in between my lips and touched my clit.
Fuck work!
I let him explore as I shut my eyes and leaned on him, my chest rising with the rising pleasure. I held on to the table with one hand and the other gripped his shirt. He kept kissing my neck, not stopping the multitasking effect he was having on me. Goddess, the man had magic or whatever! He kneaded my nipples in his fingers and the same way my clit, eliciting a moan from me. My mouth opened as I gasped and my grip grew harder.
I turned my head to kiss him because I needed to. I needed to taste him. Taking his mouth on mine, I entered my tongue and fought his. His hands began working faster, making my already warm and hot pussy grow hotter and needy. I wiggled on his lap realising I was almost on the verge of building. Indigo rubbed two fingers on my vagina and his thumb on my clit, making it more uncontrolable for me. I wanted him inside me.
“Come for me, Laura.” He whispered in my ear, pulling back. I couldn’t control the orgasm that rolled out of me as I moaned out loud, clutching Indigo and the table. I was shivering and sweating at the same time. I rocked on his hands a few times until I came down my high. Fuck, it felt so good. Dropping my head back on his shoulders, I closed my eyes.
I woke up to the alarm on my head. Groaning and trying to open my eyes, I saw my alarm buzzing at four in the morning. And beside the alarm was a note. I rolled off the sheets and turned on the table lights. Picking up the note, I read it.
Morning love,
Hope you slept well. Don’t be mad, I informed Ravi you’d be sleeping. But I also told him that you’ll be there before time. Hence the alarm. I kind of managed to do some of your stuff but I wasn’t a lot of help, so maybe you’ll have to look at it once before the meeting. I’ll be in Violet’s room, don’t want to disturb you. Your phone and both the laptops are charged. Our home office is done and you have everything you need over there. Get ready and the coffee is ready as well. Just heat it, sorry. I almost forgot about your outfit but that is ready as well in the cupboard, blue hanger. I love you. Best wishes on your meeting.
My beautiful mate.
I was out of words to say what I was feeling at that moment. Fuck, Indigo was such a gentleman. Goddess, I was just so in daze as I cried about being such a lucky girl. Indigo fucking deserved a good time. Fuck, he even gave me the needed release last night and then put me to sleep, changed my clothes. Dammit Indigo!
I got ready and headed towards the kitchen. I quickly heated the coffee, smiling. Once ready, I headed with it towards the office room and opened it. Everything was in place just as Indigo had told me. I had calls on my phone which was on silent mode. I quickly called them back and fixed the issues.
It was going to be a long day.
