CHAPTER 25: Raids 2

Laura

"The dragons are going to shift and take flight. Backup can have their dragons fly directly after we give the signal." Alpha Lee screamed inside our heads. They had just taken a swim of about two kilometers to reach the ship. And to swim such a long distance would have depleted their energy.

But Lee was a determined alpha. He always told us that his asian blood had a lot of survival stamina. We used to laugh it out but it was true. He showed a lot of endurance when we trained together. He knew how to utilize his own body to survive better. It was his training that was now even working for us. Alpha Lee was a strategic planner, cool and calm like the buddha, you couldn't tell his emotions quickly. His collective and calm demeanor worked perfectly to hide his emotions from others.

I saw the wolves helping the dragons to jump on their back to take their flight, shifting in air, struggling because of the water wetting their wings. Their movement caught the attention of the people on the deck as they leaned over the railings. The dragons screeched as they flew over the ship, eyeing their predators.

"Now!" Alpha Lee ordered. The dragons willed their fire and burned the steering compartment first. Chaos happened as the ones on the deck ran to safety. One dragon dealt with them as the other helped his team up on the ship. Immediately they started to take down the hunters, turning them to dead corpses. The wolves shifted and ran inside the ship in search of innocents.

"Rogues and commoners!" One of the vampires shouted as he ran to rescue them. A huge blast came from the screen as they stumbled and searched for balance.

"Let the backup team fly!" Alpha Lee screamed through the link as I caught him taking down the hunters one after the other.

Durga's team on the other hand were still fighting with their lives as the backup had arrived. Cleo was currently looking into her team and unfortunately we already had one loss of life.

Shutting my eyes and regretting that this shouldn't have happened I took the responsibility of his death upon me. Focusing back on Lee I tried to keep my wolf in control. She knew it was killing me to sit here and see her people die. Making an appearance through my eyes, she helped me fulfill the work at hand.

"Easy, my love." Indigo linked me, his voice calming and the softest I had ever heard. I didn't know what to say to him. He knew I needed to stay focused, knowing I was hurting. The bond wasn't going to make it less to show him my feelings even if I tried to block him.

I decided not to reply to him because I knew he would understand. I just couldn't say anything back. It was one death and it was becoming heavy on my heart.

"There aren't many hunters here. They must've thought this place was safe for them. But there are dozens of rogues, more than the commoners!" Alpha Lee informed.

"Send in boats before the ship begins sinking. We rescue all of them!" I roared, not knowing why I wanted to save the rogues as well. I didn't want to but with my wolf on the surface, I knew she had something in her mind. She was never really wrong with her decisions.

"What?" Lee questioned. He didn't like the idea.

"Just please do as I say. I'll explain later." I told him and came in terms with my wolf to let me take over. I had plenty of things to deal with and my wolf at the surface wasn't helping. Not that I'd ignore her decisions. I knew she had things in her mind for a reason and I was going to trust my bitch one hundred percent.

"Okay." Lee replied, pondering over my decision first. They began taking the captured souls out.

Lee roared all of a sudden when a vampire from his team pulled a rogue girl out of her confinements. "What the fuck are you doing?"

"Please please help her! She's my mate. Please, she's having an attack." He cried.

Fuck.

"Put her down!" I hurried through the link as I saw his camera close to the girl, her eyes turning white as her breathing turned ragged. He did as I told and a witch came by his side to help her.

"It's a panic attack. She must've been scared with everything going on. You need to talk to her to calm her down, Chongan." The witch explained to the vampire whose name was Chongan.

"Be the mate she needs right now." I further told him. He sat down and brought her on his lap and began stroking her head, delivering words of comfort and safety. It worked as her breathing started coming back to normal and the witch that helped them, kept informing me of her condition.

Once that was done, what the poor rogue girl needed the most was his blood. But I was worried she would hurt him in return.

"Are the medics there?" I questioned and Lee gave me a positive reply.

"Chongan, give her your blood. Make sure she takes only as much as she needs. Too much can also harm her and you as well. You get me?" I told him or rather ordered him.

"Ye-yes." Was all he said before biting his hand and bringing it to her lips. Her eyes immediately shot red as his blood awakened the rogue inside her. He guided her until her eyes turned back to normal and he compelled her to sleep.

Durga's team was brutally injured. She had to bring in the third backup team to take down the remaining hunters. Her first team was majorly injured, her included. I saw the medical team working as quickly as they can to treat them right then and there.

"Durga." I called out.

"I'm fine." She groaned. "Mustafa is-"

"Don't! Not right now. Please take care of yourself first." I told her, knowing she was going to blame herself the most.

"He protected me, Laura!! He jumped in to take the bullet!" She cried.

"And we aren't going to let his sacrifice go to waste, baby. He will receive his justice. Let's promise to do that." I said, tears already brimming my eyes.

"I fucking promise. I will kill all of these motherfuckers as I find their hides and burn them in the pits of hell myself!" She growled through the link.

"That's my Durga." I said and she signed before screaming again.

"Goddess! Laura, tell them I don't need those stitches!" She hated the sight of the medical room to be honest. Just like one of those little children who cry at the sight of a needle, Durga did the same.

"Take it, babe. For me, please. It'll be over soon. It'll heal." I pleaded, smiling a little and wiping my tears.

"I hate you and your sweet pleadings!" She replied, growling, making me smile.

I leaned back on my chair and let out a breath. Opening my eyes I saw Indigo leaning against the door, his hands in his pockets and a worried look on his face. "Can I come in?" He asked.

I stretched my hand out towards him and he was beside me in four strides. Cleo popped up on the screen as Indigo bent down, taking my hand in his and kissed my forehead.

"Laura, the rogues?" Cleo questioned as Indigo sat beside me.

Fuck!

"For now just treat them and put them in a safe house. I'll think of something." I replied and Indigo's hand tightened around me.

"Are you sure?" He asked.

"People are finding their mates in them, Dadda!" I replied frustrated as I called him dadda after a very long time.

"Okay okay! I'll get back to you once I am done here and we are having a talk." Cleo replied, knowing I needed clear advice from him, if the things I was doing were wrong or right. I nodded and Indigo pulled me close, massaging my shoulders.

It took them hours to clean up the mess as the night had already passed with the raids. Indigo sat right by my side without saying a word as I gave instructions through the screen and through the links, a new bright day beginning to take over. There were times when humans got involved and that again had to be taken care of very thoroughly. Like really thoroughly.

I was surprised when the dragon lord called me personally to get the details on the raids. I informed him we had his captured shifters with us at the safe house and will be sending them along with the dragons that were working with us on the raids.

What hit me and my wolf was when he asked how I was doing. He asked me about my new pack, if they were well and all. It took me by surprise, his weird inquiries while Indigo next to me was growling, letting the dragon king know of his presence. But the king cared less.

"He was weird." I ended the call and looked at Indigo. His teeth were clenched as he held onto the poor armrest which was not far from breaking.

"I will kill him." Indigo growled and pushed himself from the chair as he kicked it and ran his hand through his hair.

I was sleepy but goddess Indigo looked hot the way he ran his veiny and burly hands through his hair. I didn't know if that was my dirty brain or my morning need for him.

He was angry for fuck's sake! Why would this emotion turn me on rather than sleep which was much needed.

I kept staring at him like a dreamstruck person. He was my dream man. The man of my dreams to be clear. Oh sweet goddess, what a hot man he was. His tall frame, his muscled neck that I wanted to lick, the veins in them so prominent that my hands ached to run my fingers on them, those cute fucking dimples on his hard face...

Indigo growled again, making me snap out of my dream. "I suppose you are done then?" He asked, his eyes turning darker, caging me under them. Heat immediately crawled itself from the deep pits of my hidden desire. My head wasn't in the right place. I just wanted it to be in the right place to be honest. It made me clench my legs as I smiled with mischief and shook my head in a no to respond to his question.

I wasn't really done but I could take some time out while they settled everyone in the safe houses.

He evilly laughed at me, making me clench my legs tighter. Like fuck, the man's laughter even was turning me on bad. He stopped at once and took predatory steps towards me and turned my chair to face him. Bending forward and leaning on my chair, he came face to face with me. Sucking in a big breath leaning forward with his eyes closed he said, "Right! You won't be done until I am done with you."

I just sat on the chair and looked back at him, his scent engulfing me in his cage, crawling into my insides, making me fogged with it. Indigo opened his eyes to look back at me and smirked. I put my hands across his neck and said, "Hmm.. I think I want to get done too."

He smiled darkly and slid his hands up my thigh as his thumb got closer to the aching spot in between them. I threw my head back with a moan as his breath got closer to my lips.

Oh fuck! I am mad but who cares.

Just when he was going to kiss me, the screen rang an incoming call. I growled so loud, I was sure Violet would wake up. Indigo chuckled and shook his head. He pecked my lips once and turned my chair towards the screen, still smiling. He knew how important this whole thing was for me and goddess I loved him for how he put my mission before him for me.

The call was from the medical team to make sure everything was right in place. Durga's team was greatly damaged, some of them even fighting with life and death. All throughout the afternoon I was fixed on the screen and calls and links, freed at almost eight at night.

Indigo insisted I sleep and take my wolf out the next day. I wanted to tell him everything that happened but as soon as I laid on the bed with Indigo's scent all over it, I touched the calm abyss, closing my eyes without a second thought.

The next few days were growing hectic for me to handle because I had to continue with the sessions along with the aftermath of the raids. With Faith I had found another pair of helping hands to deal with the paperwork of the sessions.

Cleo and Sarah called me a day later to talk to me about the rogues. "Tell me what's on your mind?" He asked, his voice soft and fatherly.

"I don't know Dadda. I just- I don't know...my wolf, she doesn't want to harm them." I told him, not knowing what my wolf actually wanted.

"Hmm.. your decision might have done more good." Sarah smiled.

"What do you mean?" I asked, furrowing my eyebrows.

"Chongan isn't alone to find his mate in the rogues." She said, her eyes full of pride.

"Oh goddess! Really? Why didn't you tell me before?" I asked, surprised. My heart leaped with happiness for such a news.

This decision right afterall? I still had doubts.

"I wanted to know what you had in mind." Cleo said, his hand holding Sarah's as they both smiled at me. "We could try what Chongan has decided to try with his mate." Dadda said again, catching my attention.

"What?" I asked.

"Therapy. I know it is difficult.." He raised his hands in surrender, "...but we can still try it with them."

I thought for a while. Rogues were hard to tame and I didn't know how much therapy would work with them. Their animal side usually takes over their human sides and to help them gain control again was going to be a bigger challenge. But we could still try. My wolf raised my spirits, I wasn't going to lose hope now that I had saved them. They were still one of us, rogues or not. They were all shifters born under the goddess' light.

Where were these thoughts coming from, I had no idea. But to hell with what people would say, I wanted to do this. I wanted to save them as well.

"Let's do this." I said, looking back at the screen, sure and firm with my decision. Violet came down the stairs as she tied her ponytail.

"Then we start with it. That means we are going to need more healers and therapists." Cleo said, stating the obvious. Violet let me be as she strode towards the kitchen with a smile.

"I know. We need to contact more groups." I told them.

"And the council." Sarah said, making me suck in a breath.

"I'll do that. We need atleast a single evidence of curing the rogues." The council and the Silver Summit always needed evidence and to gain favour for the rogues was going to be yet another challenge.

"We'll give them that because something tells me we'll be successful." Sarah said, beaming and raising my spirits. Violet came out from the kitchen at the same time with a cup and gave me a thumbs up with a big smile. She obviously listened to our conversation. I chuckled at her.

"Is it Violet?" Cleo asked, moving in his seat. I nodded and called Violet to sit beside me. She ran next to me with a surprised expression and kept her cup aside.

"You remember me telling you about my vamps, Cleo and Sarah?" I asked her and she nodded, smiling at the screen and waving back at Cleo who was smiling with joy. Sarah was already sniffing tears of joy with a hand covering her mouth. "That's them. My godparents."

"They are your Godparents?" She asked shocked as she turned to look at me but the smile on her face was not leaving. I shrugged, loving her reaction.

"Oh my! Look at those dimples. Goddess, that's my baby's baby! Do you see that, Cleo." Sarah couldn't control her happiness.

"She's going crazy." Cleo laughed. "How are you Violet? All good?" He asked and she held onto my elbow.

"I am very well. Wow! I can't believe I am talking to vampires." She laughed, nervously.

"Really, then do you want to see my fangs?" Cleo raised an eyebrow, making her jump on the couch in excitement as she squeaked out, shaking me whole.

She was so fucking excited!

"Oh my god! Holy shit!" She moved close to the screen as he exposed his canines. "Ahhh! Dracula, no shit! Fuck, this is crazyyyy!! Oh my god! You are really a vampire. With big canines!"

Yep, that my pup!

Cleo and Sarah laughed out loud on the other side. "I'll let you touch them when we come to meet you." Cleo told her.

"Tomorrow would be perfect!" Violet quickly replied, making us throw our heads back and laugh. Cleo shook his head in a no while Sarah just kept staring at the screen with a smile.

"What, why not? I know it's really far but you guys run with super speed, right? Zoop zoop..and bam you are here the next hour!" She said, letting her hands fly in the air with the noises she made.

"Goddess!" Sarah chuckled. "I wish I could hug you right now."

"Exactly! Zoop zoop and bam!" She shrugged. "Don't you want to meet your god..daughter." She said, moving in her seat again, making me smile at her as she gestured towards me.

"Oh we do, so bad. But work has caught us, dear." Sarah told her, making her pout.

"We will soon. Who doesn't want to meet this new ball of fun in my pup's life." Cleo wholeheartedly smiled, making Violet giggle.

"So lovely.." Sarah whispered, looking at the screen like she was in a daze.

"I cannot wait to meet you too." Violet said, making me hug her sideways.

"We'll see you then. And let me know of further...things. I love you." I said and sent them a flying kiss. They did the same and hung up and an excited

Violet jumped around the house, claiming she must've been the only human to see a vampire. No, to see two vampires! She even made a small cake and called Lianna over to give her the details because apparently Lianna had cake cravings all the time as well and Violet just happened to know it somehow.

The next day I had counseled her regarding her monthly shifts. I truthfully told her everything she needed to know. Her symptoms were exactly what every pup goes through when they shift for the first time. I even told her that there hadn't been a single case like hers before so working something will take time. I didn't promise her any medicines because there really weren't any yet. We were going to experiment and that was all we could do right now.

I loved it when she didn't look disappointed. She said, "I trust you, babe. Try and do what you have to." I gave her a sad smile and let my wolf nuzzle her.

I also had gotten into a talk with the doctors of the pack regarding Violet's situation, of course with Indigo present to hear what they had to say. They were experts on werewolf medicine and I had my faith in them. It wasn't really easy to become a pack doctor as well, they had to study human as well as werewolf medicine with just the knowledge they received from the elder doctor or healers.

Healers were the ones who studied both medicines and mainly depended on ayurveda as a source of treatment. To become a healer takes years and years of practice. Their wolves are able to detect the kind of problem with a little more efficiency. They were called the blessed, hence referred to as healers. A healer is born to be a healer while to be a doctor is a matter of choice.

Doctors were the ones who studied either of the one medicine or paramedics, etc. Not all could become a doctor, a pathologist, or a physiologist. Other experts are also needed in the pack. The packs along with the council made an effort to try and give their people the freedom of knowledge while they still stayed in the pack rather than having to deal with the humans and unnecessary threats.

I met Kate and her expert team one of those evenings. It was a really heavy topic for the both of us because it involved our pup and I wanted Indigo to be present there as her parent. Not that he was going to deny it.

"I haven't heard one single case of a situation like this, Luna. But we can surely try something. All we can do is experiment." One of the elder healers replied.

"That's the thing. We just want it to be safe. I've started reading her files and they look healthy. You should review them once." I told her and she nodded.

"I'll try getting information from the main center if you agree. We have to try sources because I don't know why I feel there must've been a situation like this and who knows they could have something for her." She said, moving forward in a chair and emphasizing on what she had to say.
-.
"The main center, meaning the Silver Summit?" Indigo said, pausing. "No!" He flatly replied.

"I'm not saying we try them right away, Alpha. We'll try our best first. We'll put our heart and soul in it for Violet." She replied, giving us a sorry smile.

He nodded and looked at me. "I'll keep up with you. Thanks for having us." I told the ones present in the room.

"She is one of us, Alpha and Luna. She is our responsibility as much." They smiled and got up as soon as we got up. We thanked her and left to get back to our own work.

Indigo and I were hardly finding time for eachother these days. With Violet too, it was either me or him alone. All we three did together was have lunch and dinner. Nights were usually either Indigo working for the events or I working on the mission or helping my new helping hands for the sessions. We were away from eachother for too long and it was killing me and my wolf. I knew he was frustrated with work as well but he also knew he had to keep up with them.

I called mom and dad to find out if they had found someone or something to help Violet. But they hadn't. I gave them details about the raids, told them about the rogues and that reminded me of Alpha Ricardo. He had taken the hunter girl with him saying he'd interrogate her himself. I wasn't liking the idea and I was going to make sure she stayed away from him.

I quickly called the team to check about details from Ricardo, but he hadn't had any. I was so fucking furious with Ricardo at that moment, if I was there I would have slammed his head against a wall.

"Where the fuck is the girl, Ricardo? And why haven't you given the team a lead on her?" I roared through the phone, pressed against my ear while I sat inside Indigo's home office. It had turned into my office somehow.

"Woman! Can you stop roaring for fuck's sake!" He said, not caring.

"Don't fucking make me repeat myself, Ricardo." I said, clenching my teeth.

"She's where she has to be. In the dungeons!" He said, breathing out a breath.

"You are going to take her back and put her in our cells." I demanded, my tone hard.

"No!" Was all he said.

"What do you mean no?.. Ricardo, she isn't your play thing. I am not allowing you to keep her. Send her back to the team, before I take action." I told him.

"I told you I am going to interrogate her, Laura." He growled. "I am not going to do anything to her. Her family and mine have history and I am not going to hand her over until I get what I want." He said, his alpha answering this time.

"Fuck! Ricardo you can't do that. This is fucking stupid! No! I am not allowing that. You hand her over or I send people to get her." I replied, sternly.

"I will hand her over once I get what I want. I know I can get information out of her. Just-" He was clearly testing my patience.

"Don't give me your personal reasons because I am not entertaining those! I want the girl. I don't care if you can get the information out of her or not. I am not allowing you to deal with her alone." I said, writing another note in my diary about Ricardo. The guy was going to make me suffer one way or another.

"Do you even trust me, Laura?" He asked, making me pinch the bridge of my nose. Ricardo, ever since he joined me on the mission, had out done himself. Not once did he give us a reason to complain. He was hard to deal with, that was true, but he was hardworking. I trusted him. I actually really trusted him but I couldn't just let him do this.

"The fuck, Ricardo! You know I trust you. But this isn't right." I told him, my voice softening at the end.

"I know what is right, Laura. Trust me, I know. Let me get over with it and then you can take her. I promise, I'll give her over in one piece." His voice was heavy with a disturbing emotion, like he didn't want to say it but he still did.

"Ricardo, you're not understanding. If I allow you to do this, the others will demand as well." Of course they would. Then each of them will sit fighting their own rivalries rather than fighting together.

"A month. Just a month, Laura." He whispered.

The fuck was the fucking history?

"What the hell do you even want from her?" I asked, frustrated.

"Thankyou." He said, knowing he had a month's time. "It's something you shouldn't be concerned about. I'll inform you if I get any information from her." He told me.

I exhaled a breath. "Fine! I want her in one piece, Ricardo. If anything happens to her, you are to take full responsibility." I firmly said.

"Will do. Gotta go." He said and hung up. I shook my head, frustrated and hungry.

Irritating asshole!

I checked my diary after I kept the phone aside. My diary was for noting down important points which I might have to bring up again and again. Ricardo was already on the list and I was going to trouble his sorry ass for a month because now I had to deal with everybody regarding his issue. I was going to give him hell and make him return the girl to me. I checked through the points and my moving eyes came to a halt when I saw one. It read 'meet the pack'. I had to make sure to start knowing the pack. It was my job as a Luna to know each one of them personally. I had to talk to them, interact with them, know about their sorrows and happiness. I had to start living for them as well, to make space for them in my heart.

And since that evening I took time to meet them everyday.
