Indigo

Violet's joy when I took her to the waterfall made all my worries about her slide. My little one was my spark. 

My mate at home though, was lusting over a certain someone I didn't know. I could feel her through the bond. Although I knew her emotions were temporary over some stupid crush, she was gonna have it from me. She had a lesson coming. 

I had touched the moon and hugged it when my little one slept in my fur while my wolf carried her on his back. He wanted her to rest like the pup she was, in his fur, warm and safe as he draped his tail around her body. She slept for a long time there and woke up before it started to rain heavily. 

Eli returned with Violet's stuff that evening. Paolo, like the naive warrior he was, blurted things out I didn't want to hear. My little one's heart was rocking against her chest as she looked at everyone with her big doe eyes. 

If I meet him, this Mateo that has seemed to catch my pup's attention, I'll make sure to deliver my signature punches that most of them have experienced just by looking at her.

That evening my mate and I went to check the pups that were born last month. The parent wolves had settled to finally let us see them. 

Laura holding the babies was a sight I could never forget. Images of her holding our pups like that, feeding them, cooing them, putting them to sleep, playing with them crossed my mind. 

This was the best day according to my wolf. 

After having dinner I put Violet to bed and went down to my room. Laura was putting back her work papers together in a file, sitting on the bed. I went and sat next to her, helping her staple them and set them into each file. 

"Thanks." She said, winking at me with a smile. She put the files on the table beside the bed and turned to me. I didn't wait a second and pounced on her, claiming her lips with mine. She laughed into the kiss and wrapped her hands around my neck and kissed me back. 

I laid her down on the bed and looked back at her, "You're so pretty." I told her. 

She was the prettiest.

"You're cheesy." She said with a chuckle, as I laid down beside her, holding her in my arms. 

I smiled and brought her close to me, "I may be cheesy but I'm still your mate." I told her. "But, mate.." I smiled evilly. "Lusting over some crush in my absence can get you into serious trouble." 

"Oh come on! It isn't a big deal. We had a conference call with the dragon king. It's every girl's dream to see him atleast once!" She said, her eyes dreamy. 

I slapped her ass, making her gasp. "I don't think you get me." I said, slapping again. 

She drove her tongue out and licked her lips with a wicked smile. "Jealous, mate." 

"I'd show you what jealous is, but not today. Tell me what's bothering you." I asked, knowing there was a lot on her mind since I returned back home with Violet. 

She shut her eyes and moved closer to me. "What is it?" I asked her again, stroking her hair. 

She shook her head with an exhale, "They found two dead vampires today. They showed signs of torture and a number of chemicals injected in them. They weren't even fed well and their hearts were ripped out." She told me. This was why I did not want her to be on this. I knew she was strong but I still did not want to risk her life. Her father's words were continuously echoing in my head. 

"How do we plan on stopping them?" I asked her. I was definitely going to get involved in it. Infact all of us shifter's should come together to end their shit. 

"I don't know. We are still finding ways to take them out silently. We don't want humans to get involved in this." She was right. Humans were very much interested in things like these. It would disturb our whole existence and our end would one day be near. None of us are too good or too bad. Not only humans, some supernaturals were also involved in taking us down. Blaming the humans alone was not right. 

"You will. I am sure of it. If you guys need any help, our warriors, our defense we will be glad to help. I'll go there myself if needed." I told her. "I don't know if the idea of me letting you go even after marking you is sitting with me. Promise me Laura, promise me you'll call me first thing if you need me." I wanted her confirmation that she'd let me know she was safe. 

She sighed and kissed my lips, "I promise." 

"Who owns the laboratory anyway?" I asked her. 

"Angous. He was one of the doctors in his pack. He started the black market outside our world and got involved with the hunters. He used to sell the organs of the members of his pack and he used to help kidnap children." A growl ripped out of me at that as memories of Violet being taken away giving us the idea she was killed flashed my mind. Laura soothingly rubbed my chest to calm me, "She's here Indigo. Don't worry." I nodded. 

"Go on." I told her. I wanted to know the end of it. 

"His Alpha found out and was going to kill him at the pack hearing. The pack members almost beat him to death but he managed to escape out of the prison and out of the territory with outside help. The children were never found. The Alpha did some more digging on him and found out he worked with the hunters. That's when he contacted the vampires for help. They found out Angous owns the laboratory he built with the Hunters help." She told me. I felt her waves humming and wanting to drown those people. Her Alpha was ready to face them without any fear. No doubt her father let her get involved in this. 

"Deckard is still their leader?" I asked her. 

"That old son of a bitch! Yeah, he's still alive. I don't see why his eight-two year old ass even after being on the verge of death twice, doesn't die." She said, gritting her teeth, her eyes glowing a darker shade of blue. 

"Blue." I snapped her attention to me. She looked at me and let out a breath, "Sorry." She said to me, slowly.

"Don't be sorry, blue." I said and pulled her head into my chest. 

"How many shifters have you guys gathered up?" I asked her. If I had to leave her on her own one day, I was going to make sure I knew everything going on this mission. 

"The vampires have helped a lot. Beside Storm Forest pack which is Angous' pack, we have Crystal Pearl, Mystic shadow pack, Silver Summit and now our pack. Ravi is managing the packs in his own country. Alpha Thorn has his alliances gathered and ready. Like that we have wolves from different countries trying to help us. The Dragon king Kai agreed to assist the mission today. Besides, several covens are building their defences to help us. There are lone wolves who have lost their mates to the hunters. We've made arrangements with the council so the lone wolves can come together, rather than living their life in danger. We have a group of fae's on it. Many other were's are also involved." She told me. 

"It's a good number." I told her. 

"Nope. We have just started. Those people are way too ahead of us. The deaths, kidnapping and the black marketing have increased to around twenty-five percent in the past two years. We don't realise it because we live on the outskirts, Indigo. They have their hides hidden all across the globe and we have just begun!" She said, worried.

Why did my girl have to carry the weight of the world on her shoulders?!  

I fucking loved her so much. 

"They must be onto something if they are trying to experiment on them." I told her. There had to be a reason.

"Yeah, but we don't know what that is yet. We're trying to move as fast as possible and eliminate them. I cannot wait until Angous is dead!" Damn she was getting angier. 

"Blue, look at me." I told her and she looked into my eyes. I kissed her lips, softly to let her know I was with her. The bond was tugging us tighter to mark each other. 

"Are you ready to meet the pack tomorrow?" I asked her. 

"Yup, but what about Violet?" She asked me, still playing with my hair. 

"I'll have Klaus stay with her here. Jane will be there. They 're gonna start swimming lessons tomorrow." I told her. I was trying to get Violet out of here and meet the pack but there was so much about her that even I did not understand. It made me insecure about her. 

"She needs to meet the pack, Indigo." Laura said as I slept on my back and pulled her to lay on my chest. She laid her head on it. 

"I know and I'm trying. I told her I'll introduce her to new people everyday." I told her. She placed a hand on my chest and put her chin on it, looking at me like always. 

"They will ask about her tomorrow." She said, as calmly as she could. She knew it would trouble me.

"I would ask them to wait for a while and at the same time I won't lie to them about it. I don't want to lie to them. They've all been through hell and back. Also I don't want stupid rumors to spread about Violet." I answered. 

"Hmm. It's going to be okay. I heard they are happy that she is alive and back here." She said with a hand on my cheek. I took her hand and kissed it. I wanted to tell her I loved her but I wanted to make it special.

We woke up and got ready to leave. The pack was going to meet at the meeting grounds where most of the programs were held. 

Violet had left for her training early with Klaus and Jane. She was getting stronger day by day and her aura was growing more prominent. Today she said she had a dream about the day she was born. 

I remember that day very well. It was raining so much on that day, the thunderstorms weren't stopping. The river that crossed Midnight and our territory had flooded. The minute she was born the pouring stopped and clouds in the sky began to clear, revealing the bright shining moon. Our grandpa used to keep telling us the same story when we were kids. 

Violet told me dad talked to her again. "What did he say, little one?" I asked her. 

She put her head on my chest and breathed out. I kissed her head and rocked her back and forth. "He told me to face my inner storm, that I was born with it.. I don't know Indigo.. Dad is so complicated." She whined, shrinking further into my chest. 

"No baby. He's trying to help you. He wants you to learn that's all." Laura said as she rubbed her back. 

"I don't care about the storm or anything. I want them to hold me close for once!" She cried. Laura looked at me sadly. 

"Little one. I love you so much." I said and kept kissing her head, my wolf on the surface. 

"I love you too, baby." Laura said as she held the both of us. 

Violet chuckled into my chest and said, "I'm your puppy."

"Yes, you are our pup." I chuckled back at my little one as she looked back at us. 

"I love you guys." She said, kissing both our cheeks. Laura's wolf was dancing in her head and mine had already touched the moon. 

I thought dad would help us with something but here he was putting us in more and more riddles. Well, he was my dad. He wouldn't make it easy even if he wanted. He wanted us to learn things on our own. Learn from mistakes. 

Klaus taught us the same way and he was using the same strategy with Violet. Jane gave her directions but Klaus monitored her every move making sure she used her own instincts to do things and she did. 

The day Violet was born, I vividly remember that dad didn't allow anyone to meet her and mom for days, not even grandpa or me. I was throwing a fit at him, wanting to see her and that's when he let me.

There was something about her I couldn't place. And that was what was keeping me concerned about her.

Laura and I left after getting ready. We walked hand in hand to the ground which was twenty-five minutes away. I showed her Klaus' house on the way and other pack members' houses. It was a good thing she knew some of them because of the sessions. They loved her from what I knew. 

We heard someone running behind us. Both of us turned to see Eli and Leander running towards us. They showed their necks, greeted us and took off running again, without saying anything. Laura and I chuckled at them. "That was Leander, one of our warriors." I told her. 

We reached and saw all of them had taken their seats. They stood up as they saw us. We took our place on the stage together as we brought our Alpha's forward. They showed their necks and greeted us. They were anxious but patient. I could feel it through the pack bond.

"Take a seat." I told them and they did.

"We have gathered here to announce to you that your Luna has been found. It's been a very long time since Crescent Moon has been without a Luna and now our prayers have been answered. We count ourselves blessed to have Dr. Laura Lucca Terrawater daughter of Alpha Lucca Terrawater of Crystal pearl who came here as a doctor and also not to forget the first Alpha of our kind to have achieved this position." The pack cheered and congratulated us. Laura was beaming at my words. She held my hand tighter and looked at me. I kissed her forehead and turned towards the crowd. 

"I have another thing to say." There were murmurs. I growled lowly to gather their attention back and the pack grew silent, waiting in anticipation for what I had to say.

"Your Luna is also working on the frontline to eradicate the ones who try to end us. The hunters." Growls and snarls were heard from the crowd. I continued raising my voice, "The hunters have risen and have been successful in kidnapping children and other shifters. We as shifters should come together and fight towards this cause. Is Crescent Moon going to be one of the strongest packs and fight alongside our Luna towards a better tomorrow?" I asked them because I knew they would. They have been through hell, each and every one of them. They wouldn't cower back for a cause like this because we have risen to be better after what happened to our loved ones. 

"We are on this Luna Laura. Crescent Moon will fight towards a better tomorrow." One of my father's warriors shouted from the crowd and the crowd growled in approval. 

It was Laura's turn to speak now. I looked at her and nodded. 

"I feel blessed to find a home with people like you. Since the day I entered this pack, I have only felt safe. A little freaked out, yes because your Alpha was out there in search of his mate and his scent was all over this place." She chucked and so did the crowd. She continued, "I also feel blessed because I am the Luna of a pack as strong as this who is ready to fight for a cause they  don't even have an idea about. I cannot thank you less for being a ray of hope our kind needs. I hope we create a much better future for our children and their children after. Let Crescent Moon set an example to the shifters of all kinds and let's win over the ones who try to harm our homes." She ended her speech like a true leader should. They cheered and I could feel they were beaming with pride as a pack.

The smile and the pride on their faces was all I wanted. All worries from yesterday vanished from Laura's face. She was smiling wholeheartedly. I held her waist and brought her closer to me. 

"I have another announcement to make." I said with a tone of dominance. My Alpha was on his paws already, looking at each and every one of them. The pack grew silent. So silent that only the sound of nature was heard. 

Eli moved behind me along with Vicky as Laura's hold on me tightened. 

"While I was on my way to find your Luna, I came across someone who we all thought was resting with the goddess. My little sister and our late Alpha Luciano Yarbrough's daughter, Violet Yarbrough is still alive. I am very much sure, word about her has reached you." I said as they looked at each other. 

I continued, "I know you have many questions about her. To start with, she smells human because she still carries the curse on her. I do not intend to lie to you but at the same time I wouldn't look back and forth if word about her reaches unwanted people or even outside the pack for that matter." I stopped for a few seconds and continued again. 

It was harder than I thought it would be. My alpha had taken his stance now. I breathed in Laura's scent to calm down and began. 

"Violet, for some reason, doesn't have her memories. Our world to her is new and unfamiliar. You won't see her soon enough but I am slowly going to introduce her to the pack." I said and I could see some of them with a smile and some had tears in their eyes.

"Can I trust my pack for her safety and well being?" I asked them.

"Alpha, she is pack. Human or werewolf, she belongs here." One of them said, with a smile.

"Yes, Alpha. You can trust her with us. If it was the goddess's will to keep her alive all this time, it must be for the better." An older woman said this time. Her daughter standing beside her wiped her tears. She was one of Violet's friends.

"Does anyone have any more questions?" I asked them. I wanted to clear whatever was on their mind with me, right here, right now. 

"She seems different, Alpha. Her aura it's- it's like a healing of some sort." One of our warriors, Ace, asked and looked at me tight-lipped. The pack nodded in approval. 

"Yes and that is one of the reasons I want her to be safe." I told them. 

A woman who was the pack doctor during my father's time got up and moved forward. "I was there when she was born, Alpha. She has been different since then." She said with a smile. "We can pray for her curse to be taken away. The pack feels the same way for her." She said in a weak voice. She was one of the oldest and from what she was saying I knew she had more to say. She had lost a son and a daughter while they fought as warriors while her other daughter was mated and had moved to another pack. Her daughter asked her to leave with her but she wanted to live the rest of her life and die in the pack she was brought up in. 

At her words, the pack growled in approval. 

I nodded at them and linked Eli, "Help her to meet me back at the pack house after this." 

"The yearly events will take place as they are planned. The preparations have already started and I hope each one of us works towards it so we make this event better than the last. I look forward to your cooperation." I finished and they nodded agreeing with me. 

The pack scattered and went back to do their daily chores. I looked at Laura and took her away from there. I just needed to get a hold on myself. I had revealed Violet to the pack. They had accepted her but my wolf was pacing. He still wanted to protect her and not let her leave his den. 

When we reached into the woods I buried my nose in Laura's neck and breathed in a big breath. She held onto me and helped me calm down, rubbing her hand along my back. Her wolf was meowing seeing my wolf like this. "Indigo." Laura said using her alpha voice. Her Alpha was trying to calm mine. "She is happy and so is the pack." 

I visibly relaxed and looked back at her, touching our foreheads. She put a hand on my cheek and kissed me slowly. I kissed her back and in just seconds the kiss grew into a hungry one. I pushed her back against the tree and invaded her mouth pushing my tongue inside. I pressed myself against her and parted her legs with my knee and well she gave it to me.

We went back to the pack house and into my office. Eli, Vicky and Alistair were already there with Megha. She was the pack doctor during Violet's birth. She was around two hundred years old and was a part of the pack since then. 

I linked Klaus on our way back to be here. He knew most of the things my father knew. If Megha had something that could give us something about Violet,  Klaus would know. 

We took our seats and Klaus entered. He smiled at Megha and they greeted each other. I looked at her from across the table waiting for her to start. 

"I gave your father my word, Alpha." She began. "But after what happened years back I thought it should be forgotten. But now that she is here and with your wolf seeing her as his own, I want to tell you this." She said and looked at everyone. 

"It's fine. I trust them." I said and rested my hands on the desk, giving her a small smile. 

"Her aura had been different from the time she moved out of her mother's womb. She had been different since birth, Alpha. Your father and mother both knew she was different even before she was born. They had me swear to them about her. After she was born, your father took it into his own hands to look after both of them for some days. I helped in the delivery and was there for a while until I checked her vitals. All the time I did that, I felt as if I was holding a miracle in my arms." She said as tears brimmed in her eyes. Laura put a hand on hers and comforted her. The others were also listening to her intently. Klaus and I shared a look before she started speaking again.

"I did not know what was so different about her. I respected my Alpha. That man even took my blessing because I was older, as did your mother." She smiled a little. "They asked me to not say a word about it to anyone and I did until today. I left after that and have no idea what they did later on but the next time I saw her, her aura was gone." She breathed out. 

Gone? 

"But." She continued, making me narrow my eyes at her, "The aura she carries right now is different from the one she had when she was born." 

"How exactly?" I asked.

"When she was born she felt something more godly. Like I told you, it felt like I was holding a miracle in my hands. And this aura, it's more of a healing and it seems to take people away from the darkness." She said, looking elsewhere. 

What was my sister?

"Is that all you know?" I asked her. She nodded but paused.

"The war, I think one of the reasons was to get to her." She said, making me growl. Everyone looked at her with wide eyes.

"What are you trying to say, Megha?" Klaus asked, softly but I could feel he was fighting himself. 

"From what I saw, your parents were doing everything in their power to protect her. Otherwise, how do you think that godly aura vanished in a matter of days?" She said, making me stand up from my seat. I pinched the bridge of my nose trying to understand all that she was saying. Dad even kept it from Klaus. He never kept anything from Klaus. 

What was with her that mom and dad were keeping from us?

Eli put a hand on my shoulder and brought me back to my senses. 

"Thank You so much, Megha. Thank You for everything." I told her, sitting on my toes near her chair and holding her hands. She ran her old and veiny hand around my hair with a smile like my grandmother used to do when I was younger. Eli took her back home while we sat back in my office. 

I was going to look into my father's office today itself!

"Indigo." Klaus called out. "Luciano did not really keep all things from me." 

What now?

I narrowed my eyes at him, "What are you saying?" I asked him. 

"I knew she was different when she was still in your mother's womb. Luciano told me about it. It was the same time he told me about the friends he had outside the pack." He said and shook his head, running a hand through his hair. He continued, looking at the floor, "I promised him along with Lily that we wouldn't tell it to anyone. He had already sworn a blood oath to those people and I knew he did it for the better. I did not question him, Indigo." 

He brought his eyes back to mine, "About Violet, I am sorry I kept it from you. It was your father's wish and it was what me and my mate had promised together. I did not know she was born different but like Megha said, she seemed normal to me the first time I saw her. None of us felt it or we would have known. I did not know her aura was related to her being different when I met her for the first time at your house or the fact that it is different from what she had at birth. I thought her being different was something else." He tried explaining, as I kept looking at him. 

He was true to his word. I couldn't even blame him because he didn't know what my father had to say to him. He believed what my father told him and went along with it. But that didn't mean I wasn't a bit annoyed and pissed. He could have told me something, dammit. 

"Is there anything else I need to know?" I asked him, my eyes still narrowed at him. My wolf, he was way too pissed off. 

"No. That is all." He said, looking at me now. I sighed and put my head on my hands.

"There's something he did to mute her aura after she was born." I stated. Alistair's phone rang and he moved out to take it. 

"Wait." Klaus said as he sat up straight. "He had a lot of Sacred Saussurea brought at his place almost two months before she was born." He said.

How did I not know any of this? 

"The flower is sacred to the moon." Vicky followed. The flower only bloomed during the night and only once a year. We were taught that at school. It was sacred to the moon goddess as well. 

Alistair came in with a rush and looked at all of us. "The orphanage that Violet was in all this time, shit," he ran a hand across his face. 

"Spill it, Alistair." I bellowed. 

"It is owned by 'The First'."
