~Chapter 21~
Your phone buzzed loudly, the tune of Megalovania blaring obnoxiously. You opened your eyes to find yourself still in G!Sans warm, secure hold. In all honesty, you didn't want to get up, but a gut feeling drilled you into movement.
You threw your hand over the side of the bed and grabbed your phone, answering promptly after noticing the 2:37 AM on the front of the phone.
"What do you want Sans? It's 2AM, I'm tired."
"Morning to you too sunshine." He teased on the other side of the phone.
You grunted in response, making him laugh. "Make it quick Sans! I was having a really good dream until you woke me up."
"Well then it's good I have a reason."
"A good reason Sans? Because last time your 'good reason' was just you not wanting to get off your ass."
He chuckled. "You know me too well (Y/N)."
"I know. What do you want?" You asked groggily.
G!Sans groaned next to you, pulling you closer. "Are you in bed with someone?" He asked.
"None of your business! Just tell me what you want." You hissed.
He sighed. "Well, I'm calling to tell you the good news. Alphys and I think we've found a way to get you back home."
You eyes widened and you say straight up. G!Sans grip was no match against your sudden movement. Your legs fell over the side of the bed and you launched up.
"You found a way back?! How!"
"We were tampering with one of the teleportation machines. The one mimicking my ability..."
"Yeah, go on..."
"Dad was able to get it to teleport to the void, the void is another dimension entirely. If we can figure out your coordinates and dimension, we might be able to get you out of there!"
You paced back and forth, a swell of different emotions filling your mind.
"Sans, can the trip be done several times? Will I be able to return here?" I asked.
He fell silent. "We don't know." He waited a second and spoke again. "Do you not want to get home?"
"No!" You cried, laughing shakily, "no. That's not the case at all... It's just, I can't leave my friends here behind. They're all the same and different at the same. G!Paps is really sweet like Papyrus but he's also really calm and relaxing to be around. And since this is the first run I'm meeting an 8-year old Frisk! He's still learning his way around the Underground and I want to be here for him. And don't even get me started on the others! The Alphys here still has her shipping thing going on and she madly ships me and Sans! And-"
"You and me?" He asked, confusion in his voice.
You took a quick breath and laughed. "N-No... I'm talking about Gaster!Sans."
"You don't call him Asshat anymore?"
You laughed quietly. "That was at the beginning. He's not like that anymore. He's really sweet and protective. Sans acts like such a gentleman but he's not afraid to tell me when I'm being irrational or stupid. He cares a lot about me and my problems. Ever since Chara made her entrance, he's been by my side."
"Chara?! You're hosting the Gaster!Tale Chara!" He gasped.
"No! So many no's in this conversation. Stop jumping to solutions. Agh.... The Chara of Gaster!Tale is still inhabiting this Frisk's mind. When I was blown into this universe, my soul was exposed in the burst. Chara sensed it and attached to me as I blew threw the rift. So right now this AU has two Chara's: one experienced, one not, never tasted freedom, still thinks humans are evil and still hold fear. I haven't even met Asgore! And their experiment for the artificial soul is years behind the progress we've made there! I'm needed here!"
Sans fell completely silent and took a deep breath. "(Y/N), I'm coming to get you."
"What?! No! Please Sans, trust me! Once we've got everything figured out and solved, I'll come back. But I have to fix these things before I go."
"We can't risk having two Chara's in that AU! The probability of genocide is too high and you don't want to have those memories. Those of us that remember them know that for a fact."
"I don't give a damn! If you came here now, I wouldn't leave. I've got unfinished business and no way back here as it is now. I'm not leaving now. I can't abandon my new friends! I can't abandon him!"
There was silence, your breathing heavy with rage. You glanced at G!Sans to find him still asleep peacefully. You tried to still yourself but found it unreasonably hard.
"(Y/N), who is it that's keeping you from leaving?" He asked.
You froze, gripping the phone tightly. "What do you mean? No one's forcing me to stay here Sans." You said calmly.
"I didn't ask who was forcing you to stay there, I asked who was keeping you there. I can tell when someone's acting on how they feel about someone. Who is it (Y/N)? Who is so special you feel you need to save the day?"
Silence swallowed your voice and you sighed. Your grip loosened on the phone and you rubbed your free hand on your temple. "I can't tell you, it would only complicate things. You can meet him, when we have a way to get between AUs freely, deal?"
Sans didn't respond immediately, but a low grunt told you he had heard. "Please Sans, I just... can't leave. It's like I was brought here for a reason. Will you please trust me?" You asked softly, throat becoming raw.
Sans breathes deeply and groaned. "God kid, you're wearing me down to the bone. Fine, we'll keep experimenting with the machine while you're working in that AU. Just keep me updated, okay? We really miss you back home."
You giggled quietly and nodded, even though he couldn't see. "Yeah, I promise to keep in touch. I promise"
He chuckled and then yawned. "We should probably get some sleep. I'm bone tired."
You groaned quietly, but couldn't hide your smirk. "Okay little Bone Blue, I'll talk to you later."
"Goodbye (Y/N)."
"Good night Sans."
The phone hung up and you dropped it from your ear. A heavy sigh racked your body and you rubbed your hands over your face. You flung the phone on to the nearby desk and crawled back into the bed next to G!Sans. After pulling the blanket over you, you curled against his chest, letting his arms lay over you.
You released a thick stream of air and burrowed your face into his sweater-covered ribs.
"Why does life suck?" I mumbled to myself.
"It's better than being dead, dove."
You jumped and looked up at G!Sans. His golden eye let off a soothing glow that seemed to warm you. He smiled and left a kiss against your forehead.
"How did you hear?!" You asked quickly.
"All of it. You were kinda whisper-yelling so it was like a strangled screaming."
You groaned and hid your face. "So I don't have to catch you up on anything?" You asked.
He nodded and pulled the covers over you some more. "You don't have to talk about it now, but expect some questioning tomorrow. Right now, get back to that 'good dream' you were having."
You giggled and pulled the covers under your chin. The warm cover left you feeling like you were swaddled in the heat of a hot bath but the comfort of a cloud. You yawned and G!Sans chuckled.
"You make an adorable sleepy human." He said quietly.
You smiled, eyes still resting closed. "Wait until you see the bed head." You yawned, sleep whisking you away to a blank plain.

Sadly this wasn't the good dream you had hoped to return to. This realm only held that obnoxious smile of a demonic child and the twisted images the child brought.
Hello (Y/N)! Nap time again?
"Fuck off Chara, I was in a good mood." You snarled.
Perfect timing then! Whenever you're happy I find you so dull. How about a movie instead?
You raised a brow and looked at the child. "Let me guess, Genocide?"
Chara clapped sarcastically and grinned.
Congratulations! You win! You're prize you ask? You get to watch the bonus features too!
You furrowed your brow. "Bonus fea-"
Black chains twisted around your body, pulling you into a kneel. You started to panic, looking around wildly. "Let me go!" You screamed.
Ssshhhh! The movie's startling!
You called out again but black strips wrapped painfully around your mouth. Nobody came. Chara took chunks of your hair and yanked it upwards towards the 'screen.'
Your eyes widened as you looked at a scene between you and G!Sans. Sans, the original one, stood behind you, his gaze set ablaze by his abilities. His boney hand was locked firmly around one of yours, gazing past you at G!Sans. He too had his abilities activated and an iron grip on your arm. A rift swirled behind you, images of your Snowdin flickering in it. Monsters stared at you anxiously through it.
"Come on (Y/N), we're going home." Sans said in a low, dangerous tone.
He pulled on your arm, making you yelp in pain. G!Sans growled, pulling you even more in the other direction.
"(Y/N) belongs here, with us! She doesn't have to go with you! She can make her own decision." He countered.
"She 'belongs' in her own AU! She's only here by an accident, and you're the reason she even considered staying in the first place!" Sans growled.
G!Sans smirked, pulling you again. Pain laced your shoulders as each pulled more and more. "She wanted to stay because she's a smart girl. She know she belongs here! You're hiding her back!"
"Her only biological family is with us, and all you have is a copy of it! What makes you the authority on what she needs?!"
"Oh and you are?!"
They continued to bicker, pulling your arms more and more. You cried out as joints began to pop. "Guys stop! You're hurting me!"
They ignored you. Pain tore through you and you cried out again. "Please!"
It was too late though. Your body split, but not materially. Your soul cracked, falling into two halves and then morphing. Their shape twisted grew until they became two identical copies of you. One stood in a golden aura, strong and powerful... but insecure and reckless. The other was made from an aura of blue, intelligent and resourceful... But scared and isolated.
Each half needed the other, but was spilt between the skeleton. One, the golden hue the dawn's future. The other, the cold blue of yesterday's night. Opposites, but balancing each other out perfectly.
Your heart was torn between two fates, and in the most gruesome way, your personal demon had shown you.
We can't remain as one among both worlds.
But you are required to make each work.
What will you choose?
The home you've belonged to before, or a home that can be established by progress.
Choose. Live in the future, or the past.
You didn't know then, but this was another chip away from your sanity. Chara laughed, gripping her gut.
These little bonuses always make me laugh.
