~#1. Sisters' Love~

Situated on the confluence of three holy rivers, Praygraj is a city known for its art, culture, and historical importance. The holy city is home to two inseparable sisters, Nitya and Ruhana Kashyap. These two are daughters of a well-known businessman, Mr. Ronit Kashyap and his wife, Sandhya Kashyap. Ronit runs a textile business and is well-known in the city of Prayagraj. He’s a nice, kind-hearted gentleman who tries to help the needy people around him. He has taught the lessons of love, care, and generosity to his daughters.

The two girls were born four years apart. Nitya is the elder one, while Ruhana is the younger one. The affection that these two share is hard to find in the present time. Their house is located near the holy river of Ganga and that brings a sense of peace to the house. This small family is happy in their heavenly abode near the holy Ganga.

It’s a fine morning; a young girl is walking towards the Ganga ghat. She’s holding a puja thali in her hands and she seems to be in a hurry. A group of kids are running behind her.

Didi, hum bahut derr se aapka intezar kar rahe hain.”

“Aap late kyun aayi?”

“Prasad do naa!”

The kids look at her while she glares at them playfully

“Aise kaise prasad de doon? Tum log mujhe puja toh karne do. Kyun peeche peeche aa rahe ho? Ek jagah ruko, nai toh kisi ko prasad nahi milega, haan!”

“Sab pata hai mujhe, prasad ke liye Didi didi karke mere peeche aate ho. Aur jab main kuch kaam deti hoon toh vo tumse nahi hota.”

She glances at the kids who are now standing away from her and are staring at her innocently. She shakes her head and walks towards the bank of the river. She performs the puja, floats a lamp in the holy water, and then takes some water in her hands and chants the common stuti that she knows.

"Om Gange Cha Yamune Chaiva Godavari Saraswati,
Narmade Sindhu Kaveri Jalesmin Sannidhim Kuru"

She leaves the water in the river and puts some water on her eyes and head. Finishing her puja, she walks into the temple dedicated to the Goddess Ganga and offers sweets in the temple. A few minutes later, she walks out of the temple and heads towards the kids but they turn away from her.

“Arey, ab prasad nahi chahiye?” She asks.

“Didi, hume aapse baat nahi karni.” One girl says it annoyingly.

“Kyun bhayi? Kya kia maine? Prasad hi toh dene aayi hoon.” She looks at the little girl.

“Aap hamesha aisa karti ho.” Another boy looks at her.

“Han toh tum log bhi hamesha aise hi karte ho! Maine yahan aayi nahi ki tum log mere peeche peeche aate ho! Kisne sikhaya tumhe ye sab?” She looks at the kids but they remain silent.

She smiles; she knows who it could be. She’s Nitya Kashyap, the elder daughter of Ronit and Sandhya. It’s her daily routine to come to the Ganga Ghats and worship the holy river goddess. She distributes the prasad among the children and spends some time with them. This is her morning routine before she goes to the office with her father.

Nitya turns around, pretending to leave, as the kids don’t answer her question. She’s just playing along, and she wants them to speak. Meanwhile, someone hugs her, locking their arms around her waist.

“Didi, gussa karna achi baat nahi hoti, tum hi kehti ho naa. “ Another young girl says this while looking at her.

“Aur tum jo in sabko nautanki sikhaati rehti ho, uska kya?” Nitya looks at her.

“Maine kya kiya, Di? I’m innocent, you know.” She looks at Nitya innocently.

It’s Ruhana Kashyap, Nitya’s younger sister. The latter knows about all the mischief that her sister does. It’s Ruhana who teaches the kids to run after Nitya or to play along on the ghats. Nitya glances at her younger sister; the girl has her eyes closed as she hugs her and kisses her cheek.
Nitya shakes her head, chiding the girl to look at her.

“Ye kya naatak hai, Ruu! Look at me!” Nitya commands.

“Koi naatak nahi hai, Di. Tumhe pata hai na ki mera din tumse hi shuru hota hai, lekin tum kabhi ghar mein hoti hi nahi ho!” Ruhana says this annoyingly as she opens her eyes to look at her sister.

“Ye kya baat hui? Tum koi chhoti bachchi toh ho nahi ki mujhe tumhare saamne rehna padega.” Nitya replies, pretending to be annoyed.

“Rehna hi padega, Didu, at least in this lifetime. Tumko dekhe bina mera din shuru hi nahi hota. Toh main tumko kahin jaane bhi nahi dungi, samjhi!?” Ruhana replies, tightening her grip on her sister’s hands.

“Tune ye sab kahan se seekha, Ruu? All these dialogues?” Nitya glances at her sister.

“Hey, ye dialogue nahi hai, sach hai! Tum maano ya na maano, samjhi Di! Ab chalo ghar, Mumma is waiting for you.” Ruhana looks at her sister.

Nitya shakes her head and distributes the prasad among kids and the two sisters begin walking home. The people around them adore these two sisters, all they know is that their bond is strong enough and that no one can break this holy bond of the two sisters.
