Vol.III - 3. Family.

Family ain't who you're born with.

Family is who you would die for.

Have you ever wanted something, something you couldn't shake, no matter how fucking hard you tried?

Then, you get a taste of it.

And it gives you fucking chills.

And you forget why you didn't want it in the first place?

In my case, I want something I can't have.

I want something I could have.

I want something I had and lost.

But it's mine and I'm going to take it back.

Rain wondered if she was about to make another huge mistake by defying Suga.

Probably.

But she couldn't deny herself what she wanted.

This was happening.

She had used him, and he was going to use her back.

She knew her choice was a mistake of epic proportions.

And just like any huge mistake, Suga's payback was going to be painful.

But she was willing to pay the price.

Rain turned and left RM and V in her room, grabbing a pair of socks, jeans, and her boots from the floor-pile on her way, rushing the hell out.

"Where is he?" She yelled to everyone and no one in particular, the determination in her tone echoing louder than the thunders outside.

Jimin and Jin stood from the couch, rushing after a rageous Rain that was zigzagging the whole loft, searching every room one by one, snapping doors open like necks.

"He left," Jungkook said, looking at everyone. "He spoke with someone on the phone and left."

RM threw him a look that screamed, what the fuck are you doing, as everyone else was gathering in the middle of the living room.

"What have you done with Violet?" Rain wore her jeans, jumping on one leg, then socks, and threw on her boots, without even tying the laces. "Don't tell me she is still in the basement, or I swear..."

"She is fine. J-Hope is with her." Jin reassured her.

With a curt nod that said this will do for now, Rain made her way to the elevator.

She noticed there were bloodstains next to the card key panel.

She also noticed the elevator was not coming after calling it.

"What the fuck have you done?" She spun to face RM once again.

"Just a little extra security since you decided to bring your boyfriends here," RM smirked. "You will leave when all your shit is packed. And worry not. I will be the one calling the hell of that elevator then."

"Open it now!" She hissed, looking at each of them.

The chuckle that came out of her after no one moved was bitter.

"So that's it. You are nothing more than your Oyabun's command, but you accused me of treating you like pawns? What loyalty bitches? You wouldn't recognize her if she smacked you in the face with a whip."

She turned again, rushing back to her room.

RM followed her once more, throwing curses about the day he was born like confetti.

The door of Rain's room slammed shut an inch before his face, Rain yelling from the other side.

"Give me half hour. And you will never see me nor my shit once again!" She locked it with nerve.

"Open the fuck up now!"

"Just for once in your life RM, do the fucking decent thing and let me pack in peace."

He hesitated, waiting outside. Feeling the stare of the others on his back.

RM had cut down more enemies than he could count or remember, had been in wild gunfights, had protected Nanami with his life when needed, had been a saiko-komon, a killer, a con-man and a thief, had made choices that almost cost him his life. And he never was afraid of all that. Yet, here he was, lowering his fist from the door.

"You have ten minutes." He stated, leaning on the opposite wall and crossing his arms.

Thinking which way Suga will decide to amputate him if anything happens to her in the span of those ten minutes.

But no, the water was cut.

Not that he doubted she could find any kind of creative ways if she wanted to harm herself.

Water.

Her choice of death.

Fitting, since death is a boulder that drops into the sea.

It doesn't just create ripples.

It creates waves.

It splashes on everybody.

It gets still waters moving.

Just like Nanami's death did.

Made waves and changed everything.

"It will be okay." Jin's comforting hand on his shoulder reassured him. "I trust Suga. If he says that's what should be done, then it's the right thing. He must have his reasons."

"I wasn't complaining," RM looked away to the others. Jimin and Jungkook and V that had formed a chattering circle of conspiracy on the couch. Like they were in a hospital's waiting room, soon to be announced that the patient didn't make it.

"It's me. No need to pretend you are not affected by this. We both know how you react to changes." Jin looked up, smiling. "I guess you didn't learn anything from group therapy."

RM snorted. "I don't care. I am loyal to my Oyabun. And that's Suga. Always was. Even when I challenged him, got up his nose, tried to order him around, drank his beers, and even..." he paused. "Even when I threatened him. That I will butt in, take Rain from him... He didn't budge. He didn't falter. He didn't even threaten me, even though he could asskick me from the first second. He kept his head high..." He exhaled with regret and a sad smile, "And just reminded me to always act respectfully."

"You didn't know." Jin shook his head. "None of us did."

RM only nodded, his stare fixed on the floor.

"And he..." he paused, shaking his head. "He just forgave me."

"I think we all owe him an apology in that matter. Nanami would have—"

"Don't even mention it!" RM cut him off.

"I don't know for what reason she would have killed us first, though. For messing with her daughter, or for messing with the girl of someone else from the clan. Our Oyabun's, nonetheless." Jin mused. "Where has Suga gone anyway?"

RM's face remained solemn. "I didn't ask."

"But you are thinking what I'm thinking..."

"I guess he went to settle the matters with the Ryuzaki clan. JB heard what he said. Everyone in Seoul probably knows by now. Clan gossip spreads faster than a bad case of herpes."

"Aha." Jin drawled. " So I guess this overzealous loyalty you're exhibiting has nothing to do with proving Suga that he can trust you with Rain."

A moment of silence followed. RM neither confirmed nor denied Jin's suspicion.

"Is he sacking her from the clan for real?" Jin inhaled, running both hands through his perfect midnight hair.

"Yes." RM kept looking at the floor. "Haven't ten minutes passed?" He murmured, getting off the wall he was leaning on and knocking on her door.

"Rain?"

A heavy silence.

"Rain!?"

They looked at each other, not exchanging a word as they rushed to round the loft, entering her room from the broken door of her balcony.

Her clothes were still untouched on the floor.

And all Jin and RM could think about was what would be Suga's reaction when they had to inform him that Rain was nowhere to be found.

That she had escaped, climbing down the slippery fire escape in the eye of the storm.

Jin crossed his arms, looking outside of the window.

Watching, as the midnight rain washed away Seoul's crimes and secrets.

"Nights with storms like this... remind me of the night that Nanami died."

Suga

"This moment defines your life,"

My father, serious and proud, announced, supposedly to me, but he got way more attention from the rest clan members that were with us. He even opened a Dom Perignon champain to celebrate. I kid you not.

I.

Hate.

This.

Can I leave now?

Before he calls CNN to make a live announcement in worldwide news about me.

"This decision becomes your legacy,"

He continues, and I try to restrain my mind from wandering away, thinking if Rei is okay, how the others are taking this, what is happening right now back at the loft, as I stifle a yawn. I'm going for the third day sleepless, okay? At this point, I am actually surprised I am still functioning and not seeing everyone as a giant bed.

But oh, wait. Snowflake is in Seoul, Rei is suicidal, everyone knows I am Oyabun and my face is slashed open like a can.

I guess fiery anger and revenge thirst keeps you hyper.

"Now, this is the place where it all collides." Father goes on around a cigar in his mouth.

I think we should hire him to write the clan's speeches.

If I want to kill everyone with boredom.

How the fuck Rei handled his pretentiousness?

As if a lame speech of how proud he is for me, can fix the fact that he takes the worst father award of the century. I would give him the worst father award of all time, but that probably goes to Darth Vader. And Min Chin-Hae comes a close second after a fictional dictator that bombed planets in a galaxy far far away.

Plus, I never bought for one fucking second the bullshit that he didn't know about the whole trafficking scheme.

I rub my eyes and forehead, a head-splitting headache was having a party in my head, the floor was from glass and all the guests were wearing heels and dancing.

He asks for the rest of the clan members to leave so that we can chat alone.

How trusting of him.

I wouldn't do that in his place.

Stay alone with me.

I don't trust myself for not bashing his head over the polished stone fireplace, or stab him with one of the iron pokers for the coals.

Watch his blood mare the expensive cream carpet as the life seeps out of his eyes.

Watch him scratch and claw on walls and floor as he would try to get away.

I don't know what I hate more.

Him or this house.

This is the first time I am back in this place since the day Nanami took me away.

But unfortunately, the truth is, I can't do it. And he probably knows it.

I can't kill him. I can't find it in me.

"I know why you chose this time to reveal the truth." He fills a low crystal glass—probably Swarovski or Versace, because, why not, we are filthy rich and pretentious—and offers it to me.

I just realized that my own father doesn't know I hardly ever drink.  He pulled it back and took it for himself after I kept looking at him with an unhealthy amount of boredom.

"You wanted to clean her criminal record." He smirked, unaffected, raising a dark eyebrow like he has me all figured out.

It was...

Okay, It kinda was a half-truth.

I'll be lying if I said that I could sleep through the worry I had of Rei getting arrested every damn second.

The prosecutions for the clan massacre will fall to my name now.

It was surely 100% a better option to let him think that, instead of admitting out loud the rest truths.

Hahahahaha.

No.

That will never happen.

Make that with a side dish of never-ever and extra fries.

He lets my silence drop and continues as I look at my watch.

3:45.

In the span of a few hours, eight people's lives had drastically changed.

I found out that Rei was using Snowflake to get back at me.

Everyone, including Rei, found out I am the Oyabun.

Rei had tried —again— to kill herself.

We supposedly made amends.

I sent RM to tell her that she is leaving because I am a fucking coward and couldn't do it while looking at her in the eye.

She needs to get away.

She must stay away.

I can't let her stay. No. She will cloud my judgment. She always did.

Retribution was done and dealt with, and it would be for the best for everyone if she stayed away.

I never wanted her in the middle of all this mess.

"However, you need to restore the clan's reputation. The alliance of the mobs in Seoul was to the Ryuzakis. We need to establish you and the Min family as the new ruler before anyone thinks the spot is up for grabbing. It's a power play thing."

Keep saying things like that, and I'll reconsider the not killing you with the fire poker thingy part.

"Just a small spoiler alert for your delusional pretentious ass. I don't intend to sacrifice my personal life for the clan by playing dutiful Oyabun. Neither to pacify you or the rest of ass-kissing pricks of Seoul that call themselves clan leaders. I know it's hard for you to get it since that's all you have ever known, playing the ass-kissing Saiko-komon for all those years. Breaking news tho. This is not a family reunion, I don't care about shutting anyone's mouth and I definitely don't want you for the spot."

He smirks around his cigar, like saying, I never intended to apply for it.

"You have no idea how hard I worked and how much I've sacrificed for this moment."

"Cut the bullshit. You knew some of Nanami's plans." My ironic smirk is better. "Bumped uglies with her, betrayed mom, did everything you could to convince her to side with you and give you back the clan, didn't you?"

His jaw hardens after he slowly exhales and his eyes narrow. Yes, daddy dearest, I know all your bad deeds. Apples don't fall far from their trees.

"But you didn't know the most fun parts of her plans," I smirk, rolling a cigarette. "How did it felt to be left out? How did it feel when you found out she always intended to give everything back but just skipped you because she never trusted you, only to hand everything to me gladly?"

I swear his face got a red tint. I don't know if it is from shame or rage. Hopefully both.

"She had made a promise that a day will come when the clan will be returned to the hands of the true owners when the time was right." He keeps his composure, narrowing his eyes and five thoughts avalanche through my mind simultaneously.

1. Owners. Plural. He thinks that he has everything in his palm via me, which I expected. Old man needs a good wake-up call. Noted.

2. Too bad the clan ended up to the only mofo that didn't want it. Karma is a bitch.

3. The thing he doesn't know is that the promise that Nanami made was to me. The clan was mine under specific terms from day one. (Of her fake death.)

4. Those terms always were and still are the root of all evil. Literally.

5. In conclusion, as I've mentioned one time in the midst of a fuckening, Nanami's terms were summed up as a twisted fuck of irony with some fate and karma on the side, and remember that.

Everyone —literally everyone— including father, were pawns in her plan. Just a way she worked things out for what she believed was the best outcome.

The black brass hardware double doors —with golden trims of course— of my father's office burst open without a knock.

Whoever it is, I know he is about to get a third-degree torture about privacy and disrespect and—

Rei bursts inside.
