Kill or be killed - part 2

Bang.

Imagine a silver bullet casing, slowly detaching from its original place, even slower falling, as the gravity pulls it towards the floor, to meet it inaudibly, as everything around it is frozen in time.

It hits the floor.

Now go back.

Imagine it returning back to its place, to meet the bullet again, and attach back to it, then the bullet is sucked in the gun, and as the time, in this case, flows backward, Jungkook's finger is releasing the trigger instead of pulling it.

But how all this started?

"I hope you have an umbrella cause there is a storm coming."

V grinned to RM, who was exiting his room, leaving with Rain.

He pulled him aside on the corridor for a moment, to let him know that later he was going out with Jungkook, as they were supposed to, without making it noticeable to the others that were waiting in the living room.

"Jungkook and I are going out as well" His face took a severe tone. His work face. A rare one that only his clan members and oyabun have ever seen.

"Isn't Jin coming with you?" RM furrowed his brows with his response. "You must be careful. Things are getting heated lately."

"What for? We are just going to collect from the game rooms in Itaewon." Then his mischievous grin returned. "You must be careful as well... Don't get killed again, RM." He raised an eyebrow at his leader. "Remember Suga's words. Practically our sister."

Then they both averted their eyes to the corridor as RM left for the living room, and V nodded at Jungkook that it's time to get ready and go as well.

Nothing exceptional occurred during their twenty-minute drive towards there. Something that was totally normal since it was at least the one-millionth time that the two guys were doing the same routine.

V didn't think that Jungkook's absolute silence was weird either, even though when the two of them were alone, Jungkook was a totally different person than he was when in front of the others.

His quiet, pure, and almost mature nature would be replaced with a confident, savage, restless one.

His true one.

The one that he most probably would always have if life had treated him differently. If every action he ever took wasn't driven by the desire to be loved and accepted by his clan members and his Oyabun. Or, in other words, by his brothers and his mother, as he saw it from his point of view, seeking the family he never was blessed with.

But when the two of them were alone, those rules didn't apply anymore. Jungkook knew that V understood him, and he wouldn't judge him. And he felt free.

Still, it was the first time that the two of them were out for work since Nanami died.

Jungkook was still hurt to talk about it. But that didn't stop him from acting upon it.

"Konbanwa bitcheees!"

Jungkook grinned as he pushed the glass double doors of the game room, gaining a glare of disapproval from V and the owner that was sitting behind a desk at the entrance hall.

"How's business, old man?" He continued, crossing his muscular arms to lean towards the desk with poise, giving the owner a sinister smirk.

"There are still a few customers inside..." The owner responded, opening the cashier to take all the bills out of it, his eyes looking down the whole time, praying that the customers won't notice the two guys, whose appearance screamed Yakuza from miles.

"Go wait outside, Jungkook." V's heavy voice came out in a neutral tone as he reached for the cash the old man handed him to take it and hide it in the pocket of his ripped black jeans.

"Nah, I feel like staying a little." He responded with a dark smile, then stood to make his way towards an empty billiard table.

V's narrow stare followed him for a bit until he started playing, then turned back to the owner.

"It's true, isn't it?... That she is dead..." The old man spoke with a low tone, his voice coming out almost trembling.

V didn't respond; instead, he kept staring at the man who defensively crossed his arms in front of him as his furrowed brows were creasing from the wrinkles around them.

"Who is going to..." The old man continued, almost whispering, until he stopped his sentence, realizing that he couldn't find appropriate words to complete it without potentially saying something offensive.

V half-smiled, understanding the man's question. Even though he was tempted to respond with a sarcastic comment like "We cloned her" and a grin, he kept his answer short and contained, only out of respect.

"Her daughter."

Then he turned to see that Jungkook was exchanging flirty stares with a short young girl that belonged to another group playing pool next to him.

"We are leaving now."

V spoke as he literally dragged him out of the place, making a frown take place on the short girl's face.

"What's up your ass, stiff?" Jungkook scoffed as he fast-paced across the pavement to go around the block, where they parked the car, V following him with the same quick step.

"Mine?" V stopped suddenly. "You are the one acting like our oyabun didn't die just like, ten fucking days ago. What the hell is wrong with you?" He narrowed his eyes on Jungkooks back, who just continued strolling, ignoring V's lowkey yelling.

"Yeah, cause acting differently is gonna bring her back somehow," Jungkook responded apathetically, still walking on the pavement, looking like the most carefree man in the world, which aggravated V even more.

V stomped towards Jungkook and grabbed him by his shoulder, spinning him around to push him on the metallic net perimeter wall of the park that was beside them, the wires clashing to a metallic sound, behind Jungkook's shoulder blades that crashed upon them.

"I wanted to talk to that girl!" Jungkook shouted, clenching his jaw and tightening his fists, taking a ready-to-fight posture.

"Ooh, bring it!" V grinned with confidence, cracking his knuckles, as fire sparked into his brown eyes.

"What's your fucking problem? Why can't I have that too?" Jungkook yelled, tightening his fists to the point they became white, while V was now looking at him, confused with what he meant.

"I know that all of you are fucking every stupid hoe that comes across your paths, taking all the drugs of the world meanwhile! Especially you! Why can't I have that too? Why are you all so fucking overprotective?" Jungkook suddenly didn't care that they were out on the street anymore. It was an outburst of all the feelings that he contained to himself for years.

But now, no one was going to restrain him from doing all the things Nanami forbid to all of them, including smoking, even though all of them were not quite precisely following this specific outrageous order. (cough, Jimin, cough.)

You can't put seven men in their early twenties to be running nightclubs and distributing drugs and expect them never to have a taste of it. And she knew that, but at least her orders were restraining them from overdoing it.

Plus, she wasn't fucking blind. She knew all seven of them were drop-dead gorgeous and knew how her businesses work well enough to understand that every girl near them wouldn't miss the opportunity to hit on them.

After all, she didn't choose them randomly.

"We were all like that from before, you idiot!" V shouted back at Jungkook, surprised with his ignorance. "What did you think? That one day, I decided that I like killing people, pushing drugs, and fucking hoes?" He continued yelling with wide eyes. "The only difference is that now it's organized! Why do you want to have that? You are the only one that is a decent person among us! You can go to fucking college if you want! You are so clever and so idiotic at the same time!"

V emptied his heart from most of the burden that was filling it.

And he was right indeed.

Because Nanami didn't turn V into what he is. She didn't introduce him to this life. She just found him across her path.

V's family was wealthy, as well.

Cause his father was running his own small mafia business. Until one day, they lost everything.

The only difference is that all these years, he enjoyed everything that being under her wing offered him, like expensive cars and clothes, alcohol and drugs, fast life in general.

"I'm twenty, for fuck's sake!" Jungkook continued yelling at V, with wide eyes and steady eye contact. "I want to experience how it's like!"

"How is what like?" V narrowed his eyes as he approached closer.

His tone was getting calmer as he understood what Jungkook was indicating.

Cause he knew what he was about to say. And he knew why after four years among them, suddenly today he couldn't take it anymore.

"Is it because of Rain, isn't it?" V grinned as a mood swing took him over, making Jungkook grit his teeth.

And it was because of Rain indeed.

Cause she chose to mess with almost everyone except Jungkook, and he noticed.

J-hope told them that they kissed, he saw Jimin trying to kiss her on the balcony, even though he denied it, Jin almost kissed her, and he saw her kissing RM. Suga was the one that cared the less about her, so he doesn't count.

And the other reason was that Nanami wasn't around anymore. Of course, it wasn't the same. She was more of a mother to him than his egg donor ever was.

But he still wanted his unaccomplished feelings of adoration to be met.

He believed that his parents turned him into a killer, so the only way to find his salvation would be to be redeemed by love. He wanted to be loved for who he was.

And V could see that in Jungkook's dark eyes.

He knew what he wanted.

Along with the need to be loved, he desired to experience things.

Simple things that should have happened already.

"You want a kiss, Jungkook?"

V whispered in a tone that could not be distinguished between playful or serious, as he leaned closer to him.

Close enough to feel Jungkooks unsteady breath hit his own lips, while he settled his right hand next to his head, tangling his fingers with the crossed metallic wires of the fence.

"What..."

Jungkook whispered in the same tone as V, as he froze into position, unable to handle the situation, not knowing what to do, not knowing how to respond.

Only a really fast, really weird heartbeat was taking over his whole body.

"You should rename the clan to the seven gays," a man's ironic voice was heard, and they both instantly turned to face four guys from their former oyabun's other clan.

Worst timing ever.

That wasn't intimidating enough to make V lose his grin or confidence, though.

"Mmmhh, still sounds better than a yakuza clan in this city is still exploiting defenseless young girls for money." V grinned in the nastiest way possible. "So if you are not going to suck my dick or something, piss off."

The man that had spoken from the other group nodded cynically, looking down before adapting the same grin as V and responding in the same sarcastic tone.

"Thanks, but no thanks. I would prefer that you hand us in our soon to be oyabun, and I also wouldn't mind if she sucked my dick instead." He crossed his arms in front of him, proud of his answer, as the rest three of his group chuckled.

What none of them, not even V noticed, was that Jungkook was already gripping his gun tight. Not just ready to pull it. Determined. Cause everything he been through that day and the past few as well was too much already. And there was only one way for him to face unbearable situations.

The way Nanami taught him.

"I should warn you, you are dead already, just for saying that," V answered with a twisted grin.

"Not fair, V. You all get to play with her, and we don't. Well, I guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree... Or weren't you all Nanami's fuckboys after all?"

Bang.

Too much.

Jungkook tried to keep calm and let V handle it, but this was all too much.

He was hurting from the loss of his Oyabun too much and tried to pretend everything is normal, as he saw the rest six doing the past few days.

The mention of Rain in his enemies' twisted sentences stabbed his heart, but offending Nanami's memory ripped it off its place.

"SHUT UP!" He yelled, his face all red from anger, his eyes squinting when the rest of the bullets followed the first one's course, as he emptied his gun on his opponent's chest.

V didn't waste a second to pull his gun out as well, targeting the rest three, as he ducked the shots that were coming from their side now.

He ran, grabbing Jungkook on his way to move him out of the firing zone, without missing a chance to take a shot at the last one standing meanwhile.

"Get up!" He yelled at Jungkook, who let his body slide to the cemented pavement. "We must leave!"

But Jungkook didn't move at all; he just sat there, at the end of the alley's pavement, looking at the four dead bodies in the middle of the street.

Just like he did with his parents. Just stared at the pools of blood that were starting to form around them, until the realization of what happened came, and after that, panic.

"Are you fucking shot?" V starred with wide eyes at Jungkook's empty dark ones. "Shit, Jungkook!" He cursed as he pulled his phone out of his pocket instantly, sticking it to his ear, as he murmured, "Pick up, pick up, pick up!"

But the phone call ended without a response. And the one after it as well. And the one after that.

"What the fuck is he doing?" V yelled at his phone, then fast swiped through it to find some other contact.

And this time, the response was instant.

"I want you to take your med supplies and shit, and literally teleport, right now, at the Itaewon game room!" He cut the recipient, without letting him form a hello.

"Yes, right fucking now. I want you this moment we are talking to be already calling the elevator, and going to the parking, and already starting the car engine and exiting the building."

He stopped for a second, taking a glimpse at Jungkook's terrified face.

He leaned towards him, without ending the phone call, to pick him up and pull him onto a piggyback, holding his phone between his ear and his shoulder.

"Jungkook's shot." His serious heavy toned voice followed as he ended the call and placed his phone back in his pocket, not turning his glance to check Jungkook's state. Just kept carrying him towards a temporary close hiding place, unable to hide how out of breath he was from the younger man's weight.

"Where the fuck is RM?" V yelled at Jin, which earned him a glare of disapproval.

"Still out with Rain." He responded, his eyes focused on the road.

"Why this happened, V?" J-hope turned from the front seat to look at the three men behind.

Jungkook was in the middle, lifting his shirt, clenching his jaw, and turning his head upwards in pain, as Jimin was trying to stop the blood that was pooling out from his upper abdominal area.

V didn't respond, just kept staring at nothing out of the car window.

"You were lucky that is the middle of the night, and no one saw you!" J-hope continued starring at V, waiting for a response. "So I'll ask again because I'm sure RM won't do it so gently. Why this happened, V?"

But still, no words were coming out of V's mouth, surprisingly.

"It was... my fault," Jungkook tried to explain, but the screeching, agonizing pain was forcing him to inhale deeply.

"He said... that we were all Nanami's fuckboys..." he squinted his eyes in pain, as Jimin was pressing with force on his wound, "and now Rain's..."

A loud squeak from the car's tires was heard as Jin stepped on the breaks with all of his force, making all five of them slam in the front of their seats.

"I'm going to fucking kill them all," Jin yelled as J-hope was pinching the bridge of his nose in despair.

"Calm the fuck down," J-Hope murmured with closed eyes, then suddenly opened them to face Jin. "They are saying all this shit to make us lose our shit, and guess what, it's working. So we need to get back, make sure this idiot in the back seat isn't dying on us, find a way to pull our stupid leader out of the Rain-hole he sucked himself into, and get our shit together."

J-hope threw a threatening glance at all of them, then laid back on his seat, taking a long sigh with closed eyes.

Jungkook's scream, followed by a few creative curses, was heard in V's bedroom, through the wall that was separating them. Jimin must have been removing the bullet.

He starred at his ceiling as he laid on his bed, letting a huge, chest-emptying sigh out. He was worried.

But something was stopping him from going to check how Jungkook was doing. Jimin was still with him, after all.

And with that thought, he tried to get some sleep, turning around, tangling and untangling in his sheets, in the exact same way Rain was, at the exact same time, in the room next to his, but for a completely different reason.

Until the morning found him, frustrated and sleep-deprived, with the only solution of a cup of freshly brewed coffee, to give him stamina before completing the rest of the visits he and Jungkook were supposed to do together today.

Suga was most certainly back from the airport, where he went to pick up Rain's stuff.

"Hey V," Rain startled him, dragging him back to reality from his thoughts and making him spill the hot coffee on him.

"Well, at least if you are going to wake up that early, make some breakfast." He murmured, trying to drive her attention to something else, so she won't notice something is wrong.

She obviously hadn't slept either; dark circles were formed under her big eyes that resembled Nanami's so much.

Then she asked about Jungkook.

V's face froze, almost making him spit out the sip of coffee he took.

She knew.

How much did she know? Who told her, and what exactly? And whoever did, he better have skipped the fuckboys part.

"I know everything, so if you want to talk to me, you can," She replied like she knew exactly what he was thinking.

You wouldn't be casually sipping coffee if you knew anything about us, our lives, or last night, sweetheart.

Then V realized something.

That she needed someone to guide her. To introduce her to this world. Something that RM was supposed to do yesterday but not exactly accomplished.

And he as well needed to do something to help him take his mind away from other things.

So he followed his gut and decided that he would be the one to help her adapt. Because for some weird reason, even though he just met her a few days ago, he felt that they had something in common.

And he took the liberty to ask her thoughts about last night.

Little did he know, a few days after, he would realize what the familiar feeling would be.

A Self-destructive behavior.

The time to leave for his job came, and as hard as he tried to avoid it, he revealed his thoughts before closing the door behind him.

" If you can... please check upon Jungkook... He will wake up soon."
