9. The Oyabun.
Rain was laying on her bed with her hands behind her head, looking at the ceiling and reflecting on how the night with J-hope had evolved.
She had achieved what was on her mind -to make him fall for her, so maybe he will help her escape later on. Not her most decent idea, but she wasn't going to fall into the trap of actually feel sorry for her kidnappers.
A few hours had passed, and it was way after midnight.
However, still no sign of RM. Or anyone for that matter. Did they just leave her alone?
"Fuck this," she murmured and got up.
She went to the closet where her few stuff were inside and took a pair of knee-high black socks and her black dr. Martens boots, and before she wore them without sitting, she took ou, a small metallic thing hidden inside the left boot. It was the needle she used to sew the stitches. She stole it from the kit when RM wasn't looking.
She walked to the door and jammed the needle in the card reader, and moved it right and left until something sounded like braking inside the card reader. The little red light turned green while making a small beep.
The tall, muscular guard outside looked surprised when the door opened, but before even a reaction reached his one-cell populated mind, Rain whispered to him, "Sorry, not sorry" while grinning.
In an instant, she pulled his head onto her knee with force and then elbowed the back of his head, leaving the strong, tall, badass looking guard unconscious.
Then immediately took his gun and card key in his back pocket, slid him into her room, and locked him from outside with the card key.
"Seriously, just one guard again? They underestimate me that much?"
She wondered out loud while walking towards the elevator.
If RM wasn't coming, she was going to find him. And he better explains this time.
Looking at the floors on the elevator, Rain was trying to decide where to start.
"Let's start from the top,"
She pushed the small button above the fifth floor, which probably was the sixth. She noticed the back of the building they left yesterday had 6 floors.
But the elevator didn't move, even though she scanned the card key.
"I guess we can't go there then," and tried the 5th floor.
The doors closed, and she scanned the elevator. There was a camera inside. She noticed that also the last time she was inside. Right before J-hope kissed her. So stupid. Someone might have seen it and destroy her plans.
The door to the fifth floor opened, and she followed a dark short corridor without windows leading to one double door. She could see the light coming from the small opening where the door connected to the floor. But no sound was coming out.
She tried her luck with the same card key and the door unlocked.
She pushed the door to find all seven of them in a big room, with huge windows instead of walls, wherefrom you could see the whole Seoul expanding in the night, with a million lights lighting the night sky in the city.
The six of them stood around RM, who was sitting on a desk, leaning back with his hands behind his head, wearing a satisfactory smile on his face.
Suga was leaning on the glass wall, looking outside with a smirk of disbelief. For a moment, Rain thought he looked relieved. Then she looked at RM, whose smile turned into a grin confusing her even more.
"You took your time," RM said, like welcoming her but expecting her to come sooner.
"Pay up losers," Jungkook looked at the others with a huge grin on his face. Then V, Jin, and J-hope took some money from their pockets and slammed it on the desk towards Jungkook.
"Suga, you too," Jungkook said, looking at the tall ash blonde, pale-skinned guy who was leaning towards the glass wall.
"What the fuck is this?" Rain cut them frustrated.
"A test. You should have figured it out by now, Rain,"
RM smiled at her.
"Everyone out," he said without moving a muscle in his face, and the six obeyed instantly and closed the door behind them.
Rain took a chair next to RM's desk, placed it in front of it, and sat opposite facing him, crossing her arms in front of her chest.
"You wanna tell me what this is all about?"
She locked her darkened, determined eyes with his.
"You will have a lot of questions, so I'll say everything, and then you ask what you don't get,"
He said while unlocking a drawer on his desk and took out a thin black file. He slid it on the desk towards Rain, and she stopped it with her hand, her eyes still locked with his.
"Open it."
He said with a tone of satisfaction and bit his full lower lip.
And she did.
First page.
On the top left was her picture. Next to it said:
"Name: RYUZAKI REI" and under that
"Alias: REEDSON RAIN."
She raised her eyebrows with surprise and looked at RM, opening her mouth to speak, but he said, "continue reading" before her words come out. She listened to him, her whole body contained with curiosity, which was growing bigger with every word.

Rain stopped reading and looked at RM like he had grown a second head.
"Explain." she simply said.
"Extreme environment survival? What the fuck is this second name? Who wrote this exaggerated shit? Were you stalking me my whole life? and who the fuck is that Ryuzaki?"
Her eyes were throwing fiery death stares at him, and he sighed.
"She was your mother. She died two weeks ago."
He closed his eyes and pinched the bridge of his nose.
"You all stupid. My mother died before I even turned one!" she said with anger. "And her name was Nina Reedson!"
He opened his eyes and pursed his lips.
" No, Rain... or should I say Rei? Your mother was alive all these years, and she was -how should I say this... our... boss?... leader?- yes, our leader. The correct term is Oyabun, in fact. Also was the Oyabun of the other yakuza clan that is after you."
Rain was trying to process what RM was saying, looking at her folder.
Run -He is obviously high or something.
Her mother used to be the leader of the two biggest mob clans in South Korea.
Two fucking yakuza clans.
So she was a mob boss. An Oyabun as he said, which Rain knew what meant and where it came from. And her father? Never told her a thing? Was he involved as well?
"So my father was lying all these years? And I thought my mother was dead? but instead, she was here ordering criminals around..." She fake laughed ironically with a mixture of shock, disbelief, and contempt.
"It's not that simple... well, actually, what you said is true, but there is more behind it. Your mother grew up in a family that descended from the Yakuza house. Your grandparents were the leaders. When she was sixteen decided that she hated this life, but she was already too involved. She ran away to the furthest place possible and long story short, accidentally there met your father. They stayed together for a while, but then she got pregnant, to you, and the threats started coming..."
"from my grandparents?" Rain furrowed her brows.
"Yes, and she had to go back. Otherwise, she would put yours and your father's life in danger."
Rm continued as Rain was almost amused by the intriguing story he was telling.
"So before she left, she made sure no one will ever find you. Your existence was unknown to all of us, and the other clan as well, until she died. She had agreed with your father to change your name, so your Japanese descent wouldn't be easily recognizable, and he changed his as well so no one could trace her back to him..."
Rain was looking at RM but didn't know what to say. Probably this was the first time in her life that she didn't know how to react.
"Any questions?" He smiled at her trying to lighten the mood but utterly failing.
"How was she the leader of two different clans? I thought each clan has its own..."
"You are right. Nanami was the first person ever to achieve that." He smiled, probably thinking of a memory of her.
"She was assigned by your grandparents to rule the other house, our opponents. It was like her heritage... but your mother was special in so many ways..." he sighed.
"...she could see the bad and the good in people. So, she started a new clan—her own. The seven seas..." he said as he rubbed the back of his neck where the gang tattoo was. The bloody waves.
"And what happened with the other clan?" she asked, confused.
"Well, some of them objected at first... but she took care of that" he grinned.
"She killed them?" her face was without expression.
"Not all of them... Just two or three that defied her from all I know. The rest were, and still supposedly are, her loyal followers... which brings us to now."
He said as he stood and walked towards the glass wall.
It was raining.
He looked outside and smiled.
"Rei, you have to decide if you want to stay with us... or with them."
He said, still looking outside at the night city.
"You can't be serious..." she mumbled with wide eyes.
"You are our rightful leader. The Oyabun." He turned and stared at her, as she felt her heart pounding abnormally fast.
